Sandra repurposed my mom's 1977, sweet, hippie wedding dress into a elegant, contemporary family heirloom. Sandra, the sole staff member of Sleigh Custom Dresses, is a talented and hardworking artist - I maintained complete confidence in her design and technical skills throughout our project together. The dress, in the end, was exactly what I had envisioned: it is modern, romantic, and chic while retaining the Bohemian essence of my mom's dress, it is comfortable and simply beautiful. A wedding is a personal and intimate event - it seems only natural to have a custom-made dress with such care and attention. Thank you, Sandra, for helping me look like a bride!

While I had a very specific set of materials to start with (a dress handed down in my family), I wasn't sure how I wanted the finished dress to look. Working with Sandra was wonderful, because she was able to work with my valued family dress, and she helped me incorporate a classic fit that works perfectly--blending the old and new. She helped me pick new fabric that blends so well with the nearly hundred-year old pieces, and worked with me during our fittings to ensure it fit perfectly. I am a graphic designer. For my wedding, I didn't want a common looking dress. I choose Sleigh Dresses because I was able to bring photos/art, sketches, and fabric to my consultation. The designer makes the dresses from her home and I had dress fittings and was able to input my ideas and make changes with her. I highly recommend this vendor.

It truly was a blessing to work with Sandra! I had a very specific vision of what I wanted my gown to look like - from the cut to the fabric to the stitching style to the seam placement - and she made it all happen for me! Even though there were many miles between us with her being in the Bay area and myself being here in L.A., I must say that she was excellent about keeping in touch and keeping me informed about the progress she was making.....We became good friends over the course of the process...and I have so many fond memories of swapping sketches and swatches, shopping together for fabric, getting fitted with the muslin sample.... I can easily say that she worked on my dress as if she was working on her own wedding gown! She has impeccable taste, incredible skill, and a heart of gold!

I wanted to have a personal and reasonably priced wedding. We held the wedding at my family's ranch and I wanted my dress to reflect my unique taste. Sandra was great. I sent her a picture that I had found in a magazine of a couple of dresses that I loved but could never have fit into my budget. I described what I loved about them and what I would change and she accommodated it all. What's more, she was like a consultant, helping me decide what changes to make and what would be flattering. She is more than a seamstress--she is an extremely skilled dressmaker. The dress was very well made and fit me perfectly. It was finished with more than enough time to make the slight alterations like hemming. Although the style of my dress was different from other dresses she had made before (classic rather than sleek and modern) she jumped into the project with relish. I highly recommend this dress maker.‎

Absolutely no cap on "prettiness" with Sleigh Designs...

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a dress made by Sandra from Sleigh Dresses. The dress was gorgeous, original, and beautifully made. Sandra seems to really listen to what her clients want, and make sure that they are happy with every aspect of their dress.
