I agree with the other two comments. People who answer the phone are rude and they make you feel that they don't really have to win your business. When I asked about a website to see some photos, they told me that they didn't have any and that I had to come in to the store to see anything. There is no way I was going to be using them to do my flowers. Richard doesn't work there anymore and I found out that he has his own business now. OMG - talk about someone that REALLY knows what they are doing and completely understand what you are looking for. To top it all, he has a great personality and works with your budget. AND he has his own website! www.dandelionfloral.com Richard is doing the floral arrangements for my wedding at the Fairmont.
I did not have a good experience with this vendor at all. We only used them because they were part of our package. Thankfully, we did not order our personal flowers with them.
The main floral designer was good but unfortunately the people that I had to deal with most of the time were unresponsive, continually told me that what i wanted couldn't be done (all i wanted were red roses). I did a lot of the work on the vases and other holders myself but then was told that they couldn't be used the day of the wedding. Naturally, I argued and we did end up using them but this isn't exactly the thing you want to deal with just before a wedding.
I had to track them down to give them payment and they would often not call me back. In addition, they were unwilling to work with me to come up with solutions.
I would recommend looking at alternatives.
I had a similar experience. They were really rude to me and the floral arrangements were not great. I bought a wedding package through the Sonoma Mission Inn so I had to use them for my table flowers; I used another florist for my personal flowers which they did NOT like. All and all I would agree with theDame’s review. They’re the only game in town so they don’t have to try to impress you.
I was referred to them by someone prominent in the wedding industry as a great source near my wedding location. She recommended Richard who the previous reviewer raved about. Richard is out of commission- since December with no eta for his return.
I know exactly why they continue to be successful: they're the only game in town. there aren't many florists around and they are the "preferred florist" of the Sonoma Mission Inn- a popular wedding location. So they count on referral business, not recommendations.
They have no website. I asked if they could email me examples of their work... nope. In 2008, that's just... lazy? crazy? nuts.....
I contacted them on numerous occasions. For every 3 attempts (email, phone calls) I'd get a response. After FINALLY setting up a meeting: the designer was late (when I called to ask for the cross street they said she was not coming in. wth??) and she was rude.
And the nail in the coffin? The work they showed me was Floral 101. The presentation was TERRIBLE. Old beat up books, loose photos, some of them old Polaroids. You could call it classic but I would say basic, ordinary. I want modern, clean, fresh, innovative. Even if their work wasn't my style; I'd still give them a 1 star based on their level of customer service and care.
Update: I finally got my estimate;a full 2 weeks after our meeting and 8 days later than they said they'd get it to me. The final straw: the estimate is double than my quoted budget.
We loved Richard in every way. He is talented, funny and does not try to rip you off with unnecessary decoration. He listened to us and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. He was able to understand out taste in flowers even when our ability to describe what we wanted was very poor. I strongly recommend his services.
