PLANNING PROCESS: David was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process. He was very prompt and thorough with all correspondence through email. He also provided us with valuable advice and suggestions for our wedding reception. The online planner was awesome! It allows you to fill in every little detail about your event. It includes a database where you can browse through all of his music and make specific song selections. Even when David was experiencing a tough family situation, he still made time for us one week before our wedding in scheduling a phone meeting to go over the final schedule and details of our wedding. We had our reception at Travis AFB and he was willing to come up the Friday before our wedding to deal with base access and checking out the venue.
WEDDING DAY: David did an amazing job working with us to keep everything running smoothly and on schedule. The music during our reception was perfect. His expertise in song selection helped set the perfect tone during cocktail hour and dinner. David was our DJ/MC for our wedding this last weekend. We couldn't have asked for anything more!

During the planning stage, his online planner was extremely organized and going through it even helped us plan our wedding. He's easy to get a hold of if you have any questions and super super professional and accommodating. We did a lot of research and for the quality of services and equipment he provides, you seriously can't get any better. He's done so many weddings that if you have an idea for something you want, he knows exactly how to execute it without having to explain a lot.

During the wedding, the music was timed perfectly and it was the selection was amazing. Many guests raved that it was the best wedding playlist they've ever experienced. Also, we've been to many weddings where the crowd got out of hand. Not to worry with David... although we had a very large wedding, his commanding voice kept the attention focused on the speeches and performance. Also, we had many complex program changes during the reception and he was able to handle all of that with ease. My guests and bride enjoyed the music so much that by the end of the night my bride was even break-dancing in her wedding dress!

Highly, highly recommended. I hope that in the future, we'll have the opportunity to enjoy a wedding as a guest with David as the DJ/MC.

He was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. He is very professional, courteous, upbeat and responsible. He was not only extremely helpful in selecting songs, but he also gave us lots of ideas on what we can do during ceremony and reception. We wanted to have a graceful wedding and David made it happen for us! We feel we were so bless to have him for our wedding!!!

There are plenty of DJs out there that can set up a few speakers and play some music. For your big day, don't you want more than just competent though? David went beyond what we were expecting by helping out with the planning beforehand and coordinating on the day of the event. As with any big event, there were a lot of little issues that popped up, and I noticed that David kept fixing stuff on the side without being asked. You really get the feeling that he cares as much as you do that everything goes well, even if it means doing a thing or 2 outside of his job description. I can't recommend him enough.

What can I say about David of Sound Wave Mobile DJ Service? Our wedding reception was a huge success and our guests all had a fantastic time, thanks to the professionalism of our DJ. Our wedding was at a beautiful garden location in Saratoga - Hakone Gardens. The ceremony and reception were right next to each other about 50 feet apart. David had all the right equipment to make the audio aspect of our wedding perfect. He even mic'ed the groom and had mics for the ceremony. At the reception, the music played was fantastic and everyone was shaking thangs' and having a great time. David played everything from classic soul, to modern pop (Beiber, as we requested), to line dancing when our aunties hit the dance floor to Achy Breaky Heart. Hilarious!!

During the cocktail hour, we had David periodically describe what was made, what was sentimental. David was recommended to me by my sister, and we're very glad we decided to go with him! He is very organized and makes the planning process very straightforward and thorough. It was nice to know that at least one area of the wedding didn't have to be micro-managed since he was the one constantly checking up on us! Talk about a vendor who is stress free - David was on top of his game. He does have a busy schedule, but I always got a response within 24 hours email/call. Every idea I suggested, he welcomed it and NEVER shut it done or said it was impossible, he made EVERYTHING happen. Besides providing us with great music which led every guest (yep, every single guest - young and old) on the dance floor for hours; he also helped me with my wedding games, a video recording for my mom, special videos put together for all the special dances that day. David was the only DJ we met with when we were looking for a DJ/MC for our wedding. We had a good instinct about him and we thought his prices were reasonable. His website allows you to choose the songs you want to be played in your wedding and it is not limited to the songs in his database (you can add songs that are not found). Throughout our preparations, we were in constant contact with David to ask him questions, and he was very responsive. Two days before our wedding, he realized that our First Dance song was a live version (it has clapping in the background). He suggested another version of the song, which was not to our liking. We asked if there is any way the clapping can be removed. We started to panic a little because we had already practiced our first dance to that version of the song. But David pulled off a miracle and made the clapping disappear! I don't know how he did it but it came out perfect! We appreciate the work he did for this, as our first dance is very important to us. David also provided MC services. He called us a few days before the wedding to confirm pronunciation of the names of our bridal party. He also contacted us to confirm the timing of the different songs we wanted to be played during the ceremony. David understands music and reads the crowed very well. He played all the right songs that everybody loves and kept the party flowing! All of our guests loved all the music he played and had a great time! We will never forget the great quality of service he provided in our wedding day and we appreciate all the hard work and effort he put in to make it a perfect day for us.

It was so great working with David for our wedding. We needed someone who would be able to play good portuguese music (since almost everyone invited to our wedding was portuguese) but also be able to play latin and american music. He was able to handle that without an issue, and you could tell he got a feel for the type of crowd we had and did an awesome job picking music everyone would like. He did such a great job that friends of ours were asking for his card at the end of the night. And he was even nice enough to make my mom a CD of some of the songs that she really liked that he played at our wedding. If you are looking for a d.j, than David is your guy!!! David Gomes is the owner/operator and he was the best DJ I have seen in a long while. From our first telephone call to first meeting to reception, to last dance, he was the complete professional and really made our celebration a perfect success and golden memory.

His understanding of multi-ethnic culture and traditions, enabled us to feel comfortable about not having awkward, embarassing moments with our parents. He can work the DJ, do the emcee thing, and even entertain. He has a good feel of the crowd, yet attentive to what we wanted to have him play. He definitely made it about us and not turn it into a rave or dance club (though his beats were spot on) I loved his choice of music because his research and info gathering were top notch. He had an online-planner that even helped me with my timeline. He worked with my two emcees, but excelled when it was his turn to move things along.

I just wish that more people could have stayed later to enjoy the end. My bride and I didn't leave until the very last song and David made us feel that we were the only ones on the dance floor at certain moments.

His lighting and sound system was amazing, the uplight and color washes setting the perfect ambience for our theme. the Starry Night Sky was incredible to dance under.

I am very happy to write a review for David. David was our DJ for our wedding on September 25, 2010. Meeting with David we thought he was very nice, accomendating, and professional. Throughout the months of planning the wedding David would send me emails asking how things were going. I thought it was very considerate. His website was very helpful with information that includes a timeline, and a range of song selections. I asked David if he could help me selecting Portuguese songs to dance with our parents. He is very prompt in returning emails and phone calls. A week prior to the wedding we went through all the final details. I felt very assured.

The day of the wedding David greeted us outside to Congratulate us and arrange the bridal party for the big entrance. When I walked in I was amazed how wonderful the reception looked with the reset lighting and the monogram. I can't say anything bad about David he has great mic presence, works well with other vendors, followed the timeline, dressed professional, and most importantly keeping our guests on the dance floor all night long. We received a lot of compliments about David. He has the experience of when and what songs to play. David did a amazing job in providing American and Portuguese music. David is such a god send. I heard about David through a recommendation from a friend, I had looked through his reviews and couldnt find a bad thing about him; now I know why.

David and I communicated 99% through email and this didnt make me feel worried one bit. David knew exactly what he was talking about and exactly what I wanted when I dont think I even did. We finally had the opportunity to meet about 2 weeks before the wedding and we went over some of the details and explained a few more things to myself. I had given David only a timeline and a few specific songs and genres that we each liked and let David do his thing. David Gomes was one of the absolute highlights of my wedding. David sincerely wanted to make my wedding everything I wanted it to be and it was even better than I'd hoped. David patiently explained details about the DJ business to me even before I'd confirmed that I'd be using his services. He painstakingly tracked down specific songs that I had requested and went over all of the important details of timing, staging, and all of the other logistics with me well in advance. On the actual day of the wedding, I didn't fully appreciate what a whirlwind it would be and it was such a relief to know that everything was in David's very capable hands. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met and the he gave the wedding an infusion of warmth that I am so grateful for. We had such an amazing evening and so many friends and family members told me that David was wonderful and asked how did I get such a great DJ. When my sister gets married, we will definitely ask him to DJ her event.

The first thing that comes to mind when recommending this vendor is his professionalism. Since the first meeting we had with David, he came across as a very professional individual. Not only that but he really listened to what my fiancé and I wanted for our wedding and he made that come to life the day of. One of the things we were concerned about was having a large range in the age our guests. With help from his suggestions we were able to have a wide variety of music that flowed well and appealed to everyone’s ear.
So many vendors treat weddings like they are a business these days that it really takes out the personal aspect out of it—You will not find that with David. He was a big part in making our wedding unique, special, and fun. His online planner made it easy to request songs and outline the details of our wedding. We had periodic email/phone check ins that also made it easy for us to be on the same page. In a nutshell his communication was great! David has significant experience DJ’ing at weddings, and that came across during our initial meeting with him where he was able to answer all of our questions. Among other things, the other great thing for us was that we could actually afford to have a DJ. His prices were reasonable! Until we spoke to him, having a DJ at our wedding seemed out of the question. It was either sacrifice some other part of our budget or use an Ipod.
The day of our wedding was so busy! I felt comfortable (and relieved) I could rely on David to take care of the flow of the day, make announcements, let people know it was dinner time, remind me and my fiancé to cut the cake, etc. Highly recommended!

When we were looking for DJ's to play our wedding, we knew we needed someone who was flexible but who also had plenty of expertise and musical breadth. David was perfect! Throughout he was professional and accommodating. He maintained contact with us up until the day of, and set up a phone meeting and face-to-face meeting before the big day to finalize things. And his work at our wedding was terrific. The ceremony music was wonderful, as were his selections during the cocktail and meal hours. We received numerous compliments about the music (and we had some jazz musicians in attendance, who are perhaps the most stringent of music critics). To cap it off, David kept the dance floor going with great selections both new and old. In short, we were totally satisfied and we're glad we decided to go with Soundwave.

We couldn't have asked for more from David on our big day. He was in constant contact with us after we booked him and we met before the wedding to finalize the day-of scheduling. Throughout David was professional and helpful in offering suggestions based on his expertise. On our wedding day, the ceremony music was wonderful and we received numerous compliments about his selections during the cocktail hour and during the meal (and we had some jazz musicians in attendance--some of the pickiest music fans). Our guest had a great time. He showed us an event called the anniversary dance. All married couples are asked to come to the dance floor and process of elimination until you get down to the longest married couple. 50 years was the longest for 2 couples. As a gift, we gave them each a beautiful 10" Poinsettia.

David is awesome. We worked on our playlist well in advance but he makes it all very easy as well as offering great options and fun things to sprinkle within the event to keep the fun rolling. His system was clear the music was excellent and kept everybody dancing. I was a little concerned because expected a very "radio personality type" over the phone and thought he might be a little dry because we didn't meet him until the day of, but in person David is very attractive as a couple of my bridesmaids hoped he was a guest. ;-) Very professional, and as requested wore a tuxedo!!! Thanks David!! Any party I would throw would have you as the DJ!! He also worked with our budget, provided the lighting to have our initial on the wall really coordinated each event nicely.

David was absolutely awesome for our wedding. I had 12 flower girls, 6 junior bridesmaids, 8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, 2 junior groomsmen and a ring bearer....very large party and it was on the hottest day of the year. But David helped this day run so smoothly. He coordinated with the Fairmont in San Jose for our reception, set up an extra sound system in the foyer for the cocktail reception, at NO CHARGE, and then set up in the ballroom for the main reception.

He also can do some very cool things with lighting. One place was going to charge a couple thousand dollars to do some lighting behind the head table with amber gels, but David set up a lighting system that doesn't use the old amber gel system that was just a fraction of the price. It looked so lovely. We also chose to have a lighting system that put stars on the ceiling of the room which looked so wonderful for our evening event. The guests also loved the slideshow he put together with pictures of my husband and I growing up. He stayed one step ahead of the game, played the music we wanted and made sure we stuck to the timeline in order to get all the activities done that need to get done at a wedding reception.

Professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy and very service oriented. I wouldn't have changed a thing. And oh yeah, he's Portuguese and can play that music (only if you want him to). If you're planning a Portuguese event, he's your man.

Looking for a tri-lingual DJ (English, Portuguese, and Spanish) for our wedding reception this July 2009 was not an easy task, so finding David Gomes was definitely a blessing! David is professional, patient, and genuinely friendly. The music selection could not have been better -- he kept all 150 of our guests dancing for 4 hours straight! Also, the photo slideshow he created for us was lovely. I highly recommend David Gomes dj services for all of your important events.

We had David dj our wedding that took place on June 27th 09 and I cannot express how happy we were with him. My husband and I consider ourselves to be music snobs and we were super particular about what exact songs we wanted played for specific times during the ceremony and reception. David is fantastic! If you want to not at all worry about the music and pace of your event then David is your guy. I am 110% satisfied with David. He made sure that everything on our day was perfect.
I have to say the event was actually a success because he ran it so smoothly without being pushy in any way. We live in Hawaii, so all of this was done long distance. David was the DJ at our wedding at the end of August. He was very professional and any problems, if there were any, were handled without me or my wife being aware. He worked well with the event coordinator at our wedding venue in San Ramon and knew to prompt guests at each turn (e.g., from ceremony to cocktails, from cocktails to dinner, from dinner to dancing, etc.). The music selection was great. David took our preferred list of songs and worked them into the ceremony, wedding party introductions, and dances.

David also put our slideshow together, and the result was fantastic. We considered putting one together on our own, but we wisely asked David to help us out; he put personal touches to the show and made it unique.

Ahead of our wedding day, David worked with us in advance, sharing iterations of the slideshow and asked us about our preferences on song choices for each stage of the event. Just the right amount of work on our part to get everyone on the same page.

In summary, David knows weddings: how they work, how to handle any hiccups, and how to collaborate with any on-site coordinators. It was a great choice on our part.

David was always on top of everything. He is one vendor you will not have to stress over. He did my wedding in October of 2007 and helped make it as unforgettable as it was. Words can not describe how amazing David was on our Wedding Day. Everything ran smoothly without any issues or problems, and if there were, I did not know. He kept things flowing right along schedule and kept the dance floor full at all times.

Ironically, I was just watching my Wedding video yesterday. Sound Wave made my wedding reception very memorable! David kept things going, even when other vendors were off. He added special touches that I did not think of. I recommend you use Sound Wave for your event with 3 thumbs up!!

The first time we used David was for our wedding. I had interviewed many different DJs, had been to tons of wedding planning events, and still could not find anyone that I was comfortable with. When my husband and I met David we knew right away that he was perfect for our event. We used him both for our church ceremony and the reception which were in 2 different locations.

We didn't want the DJ who is yelling over the mic, unable to engage the crowd, and just there to play some music. I had seen plenty of DJs who told me all about what they wanted to do for my event, but no one talked to me about my event like David did. He asked me what I wanted and gave me exactly that. David has great engagement with all guests, great mic presence and tone over the mic, and played great music. With over 200 guests he directed the crowd, kept everyone involved with the events happening (i.e. cake cut, garter, first dance, etc.) and best of all he kept us on task throughout the night. Every bride knows that you spend TONS of time planning your special day and the last thing you want to do is run your wedding too. I had so much fun because David made sure everything flowed perfectly. All I had to do was give him a quick look or thumbs up and we stayed in communication like that the whole night. His wife was there to help out as well and she was an incredible help the whole day. He knew when to transition to the next event and when to allow a little more time for the guests to enjoy themselves. We were worried because of language barriers and drastic age differences and music preferences, but David kept my dance floor packed the whole night all the way up until the last song.

I have been to plenty of events with DJs and I always compare. David is the best.

Communication is key to any successful event and David repeatedly lacked this. Honesty was also an issue that we found out at the end..

Reviews by other people - be aware!!!! I should note that David is very pushy in asking people he thinks liked his work to write reviews everywhere for him. He will bring it up over the phone and email...an annoying number of times. If he was this eager when his clients tried to communicate with him may be there would not be an issue. This is just something to keep in mind when looking at other great reviews for David.

Upon meeting David several times at the beginning, my finance and I couldn't be more thrilled. David appeared to be highly professional and very promising. As we got closer to the wedding day, we had to email/call Dave many time to get him to send us a list of songs he mentioned he would send that he thought would fit our music style. This took 4 weeks of just trying to get a response (not mentioning that when we did get this, a song list was no where to be found and the only thing David did was point to a general song list on his website; btw, he never did provide us with a customized list).

Then we had to make sure David had the music for our first dance. This communication went on for over two weeks and ended one day before the wedding. Imagine the stress...enough said.

David did show up at the wedding, did a good job because we gave him all songs he had to play. He completely messed up on the contests..who won what, how it was supposed to be explained and done..Naturally we went over this with him prior to the wedding and he was supposed to be the EMCC. so much for that..On top of this, our friends spend days thinking of fun questions for a shoe game where the bride/groom answer something about each other without knowing each others responses. Five of these questions were read by David, leaving the other 25 completely out!!

One of the reasons we initially went with David for our DJ was that he could provide us with a song list so we could buy songs played at the wedding later. While we gave him the dance music to play, he chose most of the cocktail hour songs and now, 5 months later, over 15 emails and a dozen voice messages, we still do not have it.

He lied about why he could not give us the song list, saying it was ready and in a email draft from day 1. Every email/phone call, he came up with excuses, which seemed highly unreasonable most of the time given that he had everything ready. If he said no to us at the beginning, it would have been a better way of handling the situation.

Find another DJ, there are plenty of people you can give your money to who will not give you this much stress.


RESPONSE TO VENDOR'S COMMENTS:
David, please read the review in full - the songlist reference is NOT about native language songs (yes you played those, but keep in mind there was an English song that was on line 2 of the file we sent you read in bold letters "must play" and we had to ask you 5 minutes before the end of the day to play it at the wedding).

we had zero last minute changes,lets be honest. i wish there was a way to attach email chains here.

your last day follow up with the bride was the ONLY follow up within weeks, not a last minute check for changes.

you might not recall the exact number of game guest ions you skipped, but i have the original list and a video for documentation..

your hospital excuse lasted 4 months. business is business after this much time..

as for reviews from other people - of course, you remind clients many times to post good reviews about you. i actually thought that because we didn't post ours the next day, you did not send us the song list. And we all know too well how surprisingly easy it is for some vendors to impact bad reviews on some websites based on their relationships with the company that owns the site...

My guests danced until 11 to the music that my fiance and I hand picked with zero help from the vendor and because it was a very outgoing group. Thanking the vendor translates into thanking the bride and groom for spending days on the music selection, not the DJ by setting up the speakers.

My job is to give a heads up to others so they can make an informative decision and hear both sides of the story.

I don't think the rating of Very good is enough. All of your services were excellent. You are a true professional and many of my guests commented on what an outstanding job you did. Our special slideshow presentation was the highlight of the evening and all who saw it commented on how you captured Tony & Lennett with humor and affection.

The most important point in getting a good DJ is that they need to have a good sense of music selection for the event, David the DJ not only has the expertise on this area but also works with you to understand your needs and tastes. David Gomes was a professional from the very beginning. Living in South Carolina, coordinating a wedding in California, I was naturally nervous about the services I was ordering. I was able to meet with David prior to the wedding and was immediately comfortable with his professionalism. The entire coordination he presented at our reception was so well done I was able to just enjoy myself without worrying about the details since he ran the reception smoothly. I had many of my friends and family tell me later how much fun they had and even people that said they never dance at these events danced all night. The music selection was so good that another people from another wedding reception that was being held at the same time, were coming into the hallway of our wedding to dance to our music. David also did a slideshow presentation that was enjoyed by everyone and brought tears and laughter to many in our group. I would recommend David Gomes for any event and !

We can't imagine our wedding reception without David! He was excellent! We even received a lot of compliments about David, from his MC skills to the songs that were played. The father of the bride, who has very particular tastes, couldn't stop raving about David throughout the event, which immediately put smiles on our faces!

We couldn't have asked for a better DJ. David was absolutely awesome! We had nothing to worry about once we got to the reception, he basically took over and kept the crowd happy with the variety of Portuguese and American music. The slideshow was very well put together and we heard compliments from many of our guests. Also, for our Mexican-Portuguese Wedding, the song choices could not have been better. It was amazing to see both families dancing to both cultural music all night long.
