Southern Oaks Plantation

Southern Oaks is a nice location to party the night away. We got a great package deal, which had to be the one thing that sold me on the location. They treated us well there, and even though there were some issues along the way, our reception was great.

I had my reception at Southern Oaks Plantation and it was absolutely perfect. The food is so good, guests do not go hungry and are not forced to wai in long lines at teh buffet. Waiters/servers are constanlty circulating throughout the room with platters of food.The staff catered to me, my husband and my parents. I was able to catch my breath with my bridal party before we took picturesand I was also able to spend time alone with my husband to have dinner. The venue is beautiful. My wedding was in the evening so the pool/patio area was well-lit and gorgeous. I thoroughly enjoyed my reception and I stillget compliments about my reception two years later. I have never regretted choosing Southern Oaks.

I don't even know where to begin with Southern Oaks. Every single detail that you will never think about, they've already analyzed it and give you the best experience. There were 4 people devoted just to serving the bride, groom, and their parents around the clock. They follow your every direction, even if it's strange and specific. The food is beyond amazing, and all of my guests made sure to tell me about it! They are a real class act over there, and I will never forget just how perfect my day was. They even box up a piece of each cake and a bunch of different foods for you and put it in the limo so that you have something to eat when you get back to your hotel because they know you are starving, even though they make sure you have time to eat in between your pictures and the first dance. They really do think of everything! We also took advantage of the new photobooth they have and the jazz band that they offer, and both of those were well worth the money! You get all of the pictures from the photobooth once hte wedding is over on a USB stick, and I am still having guests tell me how much fun they had with it. The jazz band keeps everone preoccupied while you're taking pictures so they don't come looking for you. Absolute perfection!

The staff was wonderful. They did so much to make the day perfect. The food was delicious!! My guests are still talking about how good it was, saying it was the best wedding food they have ever eaten! The grounds were gorgeous. I love this place!!

We had our ceremony at dusk outside of Southern Oaks. We heard from multiple guests that it was the most beautiful ceremony. I would definitely recommend spending the extra money for the carriage ride. I actually heard guests gasp when they saw me come out in the carriage. The reception went smoothly. We were able to try our food, which was delicious! The DJ did a great job and was able to get everyone on the dance floor. We had a blast! For any brides who are planning an out-of-town wedding in NOLA, I would definitely consider Southern Oaks!! You will be able to give your guests some NOLA flavor, without all the stress of worrying about different vendors. They plan everything for you, and the venue is absolutely gorgeous. Your pictures will be stunning.

Southern Oaks was a dream come true! The outdoor ceremony was amazing (and beautiful) and the indoor reception was...well....amazing! The staff is so helpful and informative. They truly care about every detail of your wedding and they make sure everything for your day goes off without a hitch! I really can't say enough about this wonderful staff. During the reception the bride and groom along with their parents have 'personal attendants' that keep their drinks full and make sure all their needs are met. The attendants let you know when it is time for everything to happen (cake cutting, tosses, ect..). The week of your wedding you have a rehearsal with just you and your fiance and they walk you thru EVERYTHING you can expect to happen. They really put your mind at ease. I would really need a book to tell you about all of the great things we experienced with southern oaks. This was by far the best decision we made in our planning process. The place is beyound gorgeous and service is unbeatable.

The entire Southern Oaks staff, especially my main contact Kyle, were extremely helpful and professional throughout the entire planning process. Southern Oaks made planning a wedding easy. The knowledgeable staff was able to provide as much advice and guidance as I needed while still integrating my own ideas to make the wedding our own. If there is anything you don't understand or would like to change from the contract they provide, just ask -- they are very willing to work with you. Our wedding day was flawless!

I had my reception here and I can't add much that hasn't been said. It was truly wonderful. The property is stunning and elegant and the food was absolutely delicious. I am from the area and my family said some of the seafood was the best they ever had. I was told multiple times that our reception was the nicest and classiest that people had ever been to. The personal attendants were so wonderful; they were always there when you turned. A nice touch I thought was that they served the drinks out of plastic glasses for the guests. However, they always served me, my husband, and our parents with actual glass glasses. The only thing negative was that the picture room seemed very warm to some of us. It is understandable because was in September and both the guys and I had layers of fabric on also, but I didn't hear any guests complain. We left with boxes full of left overs for us and our parents. The staff organized the clean-up of our pictures and decorations. They got the keys to the necessary cars and packed them up. We felt it was very worth every penny!!

My daughter booked Southern Oaks sight unseen from graduate school and we were a bit apprehensive. What is in their website is true and more. Southern Oaks is absolutely phenomenal and all of our guests, both from the New Orleans area and out of town said they had never attended a reception that was as fantastic as this one. The food and drink was not only of supurb quality but it was also non-stop. The mothers and fathers of the bride and groom have their own personal attendants who where always making sure we were OK. The staff allowed my daughter and the groom to have an intimate dinner and kept people at bay so they could get something to eat. They also sent them as well as the bride and grooms parents with food. They kept everything flowing smoothly. They were professional and accommodating and had everything packed to go at the end of the reception. It is the week after and I am still eating some of the food they sent home with us. You will not go wrong with Southern Oaks! It will be a fairytale come true for you! I have NEVER been to a reception of the caliber of this and just wish I could do it over again!

I'm the father of the bride. My daughter and now son-in-law had their wedding and reception at Southern Oaks Plantation. A father sometimes doesn't know what to expect for his dollors. I was blown away by the beauty of Southern Oaks Plantation. From the time we stepped out of the Lemo until we left the premises my wife and I was treated like royalty. Our guest was treated just as well.The food was excellent and more than anyone could eat. The beauty,the food and the service of Southern Oaks Plantation allowed my daughter to have the wedding day little girls dream of. I would recommend Southern Oaks Plantation to anyone looking for the perfect wedding. It was much more than I expected and worth ever penney.

Unbelievable service! They helped make our wedding day the best day of our lives. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Their organizational skills and quality of service cannot be beat. I wouldn't have done anything differently.

This place is a beautiful venue for both ceremony and reception. It rained on the day of my wedding and they created a beautiful chapel look indoors using my floral arrangements. Very few people realized that it was suppose to take place outdoors. The food here is magnificent; It really gave my out-of-town guests a taste of New Orleans. Most important, the staff is very attentive to the bride & groom AND their parents! We would definitely recommend this venue.

Although my daughter and fiance both lived in New Orleans, my husband and I live in New York. When she insisted on getting married so far from me, I couldn't imagine how I was ever going to get everything done without a lot of stress and several trips to the Big Easy. I saw SOP on line and told my daughter to go take a look at it and report back to me. Well, she immediately fell in love with it and saw no need to visit any place else. After seeing other venues and all that was involved in putting together a reception, eg. picking out linens, colors, chairs, what foods to eat, table assignments, etc., I realized that SOP was the answer to my dilemma and a stress free solution. They do it all and very well. It is superbly decorated, the food is outstanding, and the service is excellent. The band we used, No Idea, was recommended by SOP and it was the best. When they took their breaks, SOP's DJ took over so there was never a lull. If I could do it again, it would be at SOP. Unfortunately, she's my only daughter.

I LOVE Southern Oaks Plantation and the people that work there. They are all so kind and willing to answer any questions you may have. They make you feel at ease. I have never second-guessed our decision to get married there.

I had my reception here and I couldn't have been happier. They took care of everything, the food was amazing and it kept coming throughout the entire reception. Their was someone who waited on me and my husband, another two who waited on both of our parents the entire night. The DJ was great and we danced the night away. Definitely worth the money that we paid. They were great to work with and would recommend to everyone!

Southern Oaks Plantation has the fairytale wedding down to a science. It is one stop shopping, they set up the carriage, jazz band, and fireworks for us. Our wedding was everything we had imagined and then some, it really was a dream come true. I had my own attendant for myself and my parents and my groom had his own attendant as well. They took care of everything for us. Southern Oaks has incredible food, everyone was raving about it, and they have beautiful decor, chiavari chairs wrapped with satin, silk arrangements on the tables....just gorgeous!!! We were concerned about the weather, but Southern Oaks was on top of it, they had been monitoring the weather all day and we actually started early to avoid the potential rain. I could go on and on, they are just amazing! Mr Bobby & Kyle made our wedding a night to remember!

I absolutely love everyone at Southern Oaks. They took care of everything for setting up the reception for me!!! I had my own server, my parents were taken care of. The DJ was amazing. My husband and I had 5-10 minutes set aside for us to sit in a private room and eat together and when we were done they packed everything up for us for our honeymoon! We had someone direct us when to do the cake or more pictures. They made my day AMAZING!!!!

We had both our ceremony and reception at Southern Oaks Plantation. Everything from the time we arrived before anything started until everything was over was absolutely perfect! We were treated like royalty the entire time! As soon as the ceremony was over, we were escorted into a private dining area, where there was food for the entire bridal party along with a private bar. We never had to even think about asking for another glass of champagne. They were there with another glass by the time the one in our hands was halfway empty! They kept us on a good timeline, making sure we did all of the necessary tasks - cake cutting, garter, bouquet, etc - and that we had enough time in between to enjoy ourselves. Immediately following all the special dances, we were ushered into the private dining area and sat down to enjoy a candlelight dinner for just the two of us. The only complaint we have is that it all passed by so quickly! We did have the chance to add extra time, but didn't think we would need it. By the time the reception was over, it was too late to do so since they had another wedding that evening. The plantation has amazing food and a large variety. Our guests said they never saw the same tray twice! We received so many compliments from our guests telling us that it really was the best wedding they had ever attended.

Southern Oaks Plantation was such a delight to work with for the past year. I traveled to New Orleans, one year in advance, got a tour and booked our date. They provide so much for the price. Since I live out the state, they would answer emails and calls within a day. Kyle was so nice. The ceremony was loved by everyone because no one knew I was coming by horse and carriage. During the reception, my guests were stuffed with so much food. No one went hungry including my vegetarian guests. The staff was so nice. They were able to stop what they were doing to teach my northern guests how to second line dance! Our wedding met all out expectations!

The staff at Southern Oaks Plantation were very attentive and extremely responsive to all of our needs. We booked over a year in advance because we wanted the wedding during a month which wasn't so hot. I received many compliments on the food which was non-stop for the entire reception. Kyle was excellent at getting whatever we needed at the drop of a hat. My brother and his wife do not eat seafood or pork (which I totally forgot) I mentioned this to Kyle and he was quick to have the chef personally cook two chicken dishes. Excellent service!

Southern Oaks made my wedding day absolutely perfect. They did everything from the music to the food to the beautiful ceremony. It really is a one stop shop for weddings, which was a great thing because I didn't have to coordinate a bunch of different vendors. They were so attentive the entire time, and they really work with you to make everything wonderful. All of my guests thought the food was so amazing, and no one left hungry. The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars on flexibility was because they are very regimented as far as time, and they took up my guest book before most of my guests had the opportunity to sign. However, had I noticed that they probably would have brought it right back. They were very flexible on other details, and making sure everything went just the way I wanted.

I originally looked at Southern Oaks Plantation online, but that didn't stop me from immediately falling in love with the venue. The site is absolutely beautiful, and I love the layout and design of the plantation itself. When I went to visit the site, I pretty much already knew I was going to hold my reception there indeed (I even brought the deposit with me). I booked my reception there more than a year in advance, but it was well worth the pre-planning. Before the big day, I met with Bobby (the owner) and he walked me through the plantation, as well as told me what would be going on both when and where throughout the night of the wedding. He was informative and wanted me to be as comfortable and at ease as possible. On the night of our wedding, everything was beautiful, the service was exceptional, and I honestly couldn't have imagined anything better. The prices were a little high, but I would book that reception venue again in a second. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND SOUTHERN OAKS PLANTATION!

I have not one complaint about S.O.P. My wedding day was perfect, memorable, and well talked about for weeks. The staff was incredible, catered to my husband and my every whim, and made the whole day so extremelly enjoyable for all of my guests. They were quick to respond to any question I called with or emailed about. The only down side to the venue (which didn't effect me too much) is that they are fairly rigid in their schedule and procedure for the wedding day. For example, things run in their progression, in their order, with no changes. I wanted my groomsmen to line up a different way and was told that with their experience, their way was the best way and no changes would be allowed. I must say though, their way did make for a beautiful and perfect day for me!!

This was a great venue because it was all done for you. The only problem is it books fast so if you are not flexible on dates it is tough. They weree so easy to deal with and made my wedding wonderful.

I had to have the chivari chairs. This is the only all inclusive place (in budget) that included them. Its also really pretty and the people are really nice. However, they book up fast, I was shocked. I called to book for a June date and it had been booked the day before! I guess I should have booked them first. They included the DJ & the cake in our package as well. Everything overall was great, minus a few hiccups along the way. But I definitely recommend Southern Oaks for your site!

I absolutely loved my reception at Southern Oaks. The only thing I wish I had done differently was have a longer reception; it flew by. Everyone is still talking about the food and place. I was a little nervous booking Southern Oaks because they do not allow you to try the food before you book, but it was awesome. Tell them you would like any left over food packed up for you. They sent my parents and husband's parents away with boxes of food and had one packaged for my husband and I. The personal attedants were excellent, I always had a glass in my hand and never had to wait for anything. My husband's mother has been telling everyone they treated her like royalty. Definitely worth the money!!
