This was such a beautiful place for a ceremony. We did not need many decorations as the place is naturally stunning. The grounds are well maintained and the landscaping is lovely. My only complaint would be about the bathrooms and their response. The toilets all became backed up and when asked to have them attended to nothing was done and by the end of the night it was pretty nasty.

We had our wedding at this beautiful venue and it was picture perfect. The Ursaline chapel is beautiful with its vaulting ceilings, iron chandeliers, stained glass, and rocky walls. The gardens surrounding are well taken care of and give plenty of space. We had our ceremony inside the chapel, cocktail hour in the river garden near the gazebo, and then back inside the chapel for the reception. The food stations were out in the lawn in the convent garden, which was perfect for a November wedding. They are a bit strict and have a lot of rules though, because it is a historical site, so you'll want to review these before signing a contract because they do not make exceptions. The place is definitely worth it though!

I had my ceremony and reception inside The Coates Chapel with about 50 guests. The Chapel is just beautiful. It was on the pricey side, but there really isn't anywhere else in San Antonio that looks like this, that I could find. It does fill up quickly, but I ended up with a Friday afternoon wedding, which went perfectly. The vendors seemed to appreciate not having to cram another wedding into Saturday, and I feel like I got better service because of it. The staff at the school doesn't really do much for you, though. You get a list of approved caterers and go from there. I'm not really the "coordinator" type, but everything got done. I'd suggest checking it out, it really is stunning.

The place is beautiful and very breathe taking, but the fact that you do not know at what time they will let you do your rehearsal the day before until 3 weeks before your wedding is very inconveinent. Other then that, it is a bit hard to get a hold of anymore regarding questions on the rules of the facilities. Don't get me wrong beautiful place and worth the hassel of working around all their rules!

There is no better place to get married than the Southwest School of Art & Craft. Rain or shine, cold or hot, it is gorgeous in every scenario. Your guests will compliment you on your choice of venue all through the night! There is ample room both inside and out for your ceremony and reception. Even better, there are no other competing weddings, so the whole place is yours! Indoors, the chandeliers are gorgeous, and the limestone walls make dinner so intimate and romantic. Outdoors, the gardens are impeccable, and the slow-moving river provides a perfect backdrop. I couldn't have been happier with the whole setting. I didn't spend ANY money on decorations/extra flowers to make the place beautiful...it just WAS beautiful. This is a real benefit to the alternative of getting married in a hotel ballroom, where you have to pay a lot for decorate the place. Saves money! It is very tough to get a date here, and if you want Friday or Saturday night, you'll definitely have to book a year in advance. Also, be warned that you can't play amplified music outdoors, so if you want to eat outside, you'll have to move the guests inside for dinner. No exceptions! We did dinner and dancing inside, so I didn't have a problem. You will NOT be disappointed with this venue. So unique and charming. Book it!

This is a stunning place for a reception. It gives an opportunity to plan for an inside or outside wedding and/or reception. It is somewhat pricey and the rules are very explicit. Some flexibility in that could be reconsidered. Overall, we can't imagine a better place for the reception if style, elegance and history are important.

I could not have picked a better venue! I wanted something that was reminiscent of Europe and the Gothic architecture of the Southwest School of Art and Craft is unlike anything else in San Antonio - unlike anything else in Texas!!! Nestled on the San Antonio River Walk the Southwest School of Art and Craft is situated in the heart of historic San Antonio. You won't even realize you are in the center of a major city. The area is so peaceful and beautiful. The venue offers a beautiful chapel, limestone courtyard, and gazebo - quite a bargain for the price. We held an outdoor ceremony under the gazebo, a cocktail hour in the courtyard, and a wonderful reception indoors in the chapel. The Coats chapel completed my fantasy of a European wedding without the cost of traveling to Europe. The facility is absolutely amazing and you will fall madly in love with it upon visiting. I cannot say enough so pleas go see the area for yourself - it will make your wedding dreams come true!

The Southwest School of Art and Craft surrounds a beautiful white limestone, French Gothic chapel and courtyard overlooking the river walk. It is truly unique to San Antonio.... like having a European dream in Texas. The facility is absolutely 100% worth the cost... its breathtaking and can accommodate large and small weddings. I felt like I was in a dream. My wedding was amazing. Reserve your spot early because the venue books almost a year in advance. Once you place your deposit there is no refund or change of date - I would still recommend it over any other venue in San Antonio.

This place is Gorgeous, absolutely perfect for a wedding. It offers indoor/outdoor options and you can have the ceremony and reception there. The gardens are beautifully kept. The chapel is breathtaking. However, it books up really far in advance. We had to put a deposit down over a year before the wedding. Also, since it is a historical landmark, they are super super strict on what you are allowed to do and have at your event. They have an approved list of vendors. You also have to rent security from them which is pricey. Overall the rental price is very reasonable considering what you get, but it jumps up considerably if you have more that 150 people. I would not have traded this venue for anything, but be aware that there are lots of restrictions in regards to decoration and equipment.
