This was the most amazing place. Everything was just beautiful and perfect. Frank even helped us with the planning and then organized the flow of events at the wedding itself to keep everything moving smoothly. Frank prepared a wonderful meal at a very reasonable price and was very patient as we made changes.

My observations and recommendations are as follows:
1. The grounds and facility was great and conducive for a festive wedding.
2. Food was good but not enough requiring some people to wait while additional food was being prepared.
3. Food service was poor and in disarray. Need assistance with people that have more catering or serving experience.
4. I would suggest limiting the smoking in the house while guests are present.
5. Some folks suggested to relocate the kitchen birds while a major dinner is being prepared and served. On the other hand, I understand the children enjoyed the birds.
6. The event was sold to us as if valet service wold be provided. Did not see or notice any valet parking.

John, Regarding the food service, one problem we had, was that guests thru no fault of ours started helping themselves before the buffet was fully set up, requiring us to react before we were fully finished preparing everything. We apologize for being somewhat short staffed, but due to your budget constraints, it was financially impossible to hire more help. Many of your guests were smokers and it was very difficult to keep track of who was disregarding our smoking outside is allowed policy. The cockatiels are house pets and while they should not have been in the kitchen, it was merely an oversight on our part, especially because as you said, they did provide entertainment for your guest's children. The Valet issue was discussed with your son(the groom) and it was decided that since everybody was arriving 3 to 4 hours before the agreed start time of 3 pm, they could park wherever they liked, since the valet was scheduled to arrive 30 minutes before the guests started arriving and when he got here, all of your guests had already arrived. Also, this wedding was planned as a 3 to 4 hour event and ended up lasting over 12 hours without any additional charges or complaining on our part. You were scheduled from 3 to 7 pm and in fact you started arriving at 11:45AM and the last guests left by Limo at 12 midnight.

This is a perfect place to have your wedding! We had an amazing time. First, the house is incredibly gorgeous and the wooded surroundings are outstanding. There was more than enough space for all of our guests. We had around 75 people at our wedding but the house could have held more like 200. We stayed in the master bedroom that night and part of the wedding party stayed in the other three bedrooms. We had the ceremony in the spacious back yard area and the reception in the house and it turned out great. Frank and his crew were so helpful and flexible that it made this special day even more beautiful.
Frank has a great thing going here as he transitions Southwyn into a top-notch venue.

I can hardly believe that the Southwyn Mansion went so smoothly from an interesting place I happened to find online to being the actual venue for my wedding and working out so well! Frank was super helpful, professional and responsive- even taking decision making farther than I imagined and really helping us tie together an incredible wedding pretty seamlessly. The event was amazing, food was really yummy, Frank and his family really hospitable, the house gorgeous, and the grounds the perfect place for me and my new husband to tie the knot! It all looked and felt perfect, maybe I say that from my buzzed new-wife perspective but I would find it a challenge to seriously complain about anything and think for the wedding we had in mind, and the service the Southwyn provided us with, it was the best I could have pictured, and of a very high standard. Thanks so much for all your help and for helping make our wedding day so sweet!

The house was beautiful, full of art and charm, the food was delicious and he and his family/staff were professional and attentive.
