Sqwires Restaurant & Annex

I can say that Sqwires has the best value of all the venues we researched in St. Louis. Karen is fantastic to work with and the space and food are amazing. I am still having guests tell me how great the food was. If I had another event in STL I would definitely use SqWires again.

We are so happy we decided to have our reception at SqWires. The space is absolutely gorgeous and unique, the food is delicious, and the value is incredible. I love that SqWires charges only for the food, not for the venue space. Bethany is wonderful to work with and they took care of all the decorating. There are a ton of fun places for guests to go out after the reception near SqWires, and lots of hotels nearby which make it convenient for out of town guests. Highly recommend!

As soon as I found Sqwires Annex, we stopped our search for our wedding reception. We didn't want a ballroom setting, and we wanted something cool and modern. The annex is such a beautiful room and has a lot of character on it's own, so we didn't need to do much decorating aside from centerpieces. They have a huge selection of vases, jars, and various candle holders that you can use if you choose, which we did. Most of our guests had never been there and were extremely impressed with the venue. I have heard so many compliments about the food as well, and we absolutely loved it. There are so many options to choose from, it was hard to narrow down. Everyone we dealt with there was so friendly and helpful, and they did all of the set up and clean up as well. I wish I could have my reception there all over again!

We planned and executed our wedding in four months. Sqwires was awesome 100 percent to the way. They provided the best wedding food in the world, and they helped make the day run smoothly. We originally planned to get married on the mezzanine, but they allowed us to use the front room complete with fireplace hearth for free. They let us drop off our decorations and details, and everything was set up when we arrived. Great value, excellent food, excellent service.

SqWires Annex was the most helpful reception site we interviewed. They worked with us to tweak the wedding package to meet our needs and even took all of the reception decorations and stored them for us. They decorated the space beautifully to our specifications and everything went off without a hitch! The staff working the night of was exceptional and all of my guest commented on how nice the room was and the quality of the food. Bethany Budde the proprietor and event coordinator was wonderful to work with. I highly recommend her establishment for your wedding reception! Great service, value and most importantly, great tasting food.

Bethany is amazing! She will doing anything to meet your needs. She is truly an owner who wants to earn your business. I can not wait to see what her and her team do for my day. I know it will be so special!

I cannot say enough nice things about Sqwire’s Annex. The Annex is the “party room” of Sqwire’s Restaurant, but it goes way beyond “party room. First of all, it’s a beautiful space—it’s in a former wire factory (hence the “punny” name) with lots of exposed brick and metal. Their staff transformed a pretty-enough-room into an absolutely gorgeous wedding reception with very little direction from me (in fact, when I walked in on the day of our wedding, I teared up a bit, saying, “It looks like a wedding!”).

There were a lot of reasons we ended up going with Sqwire’s: They had a lot of parking; the Annex has its own entrance and its own bathroom; although there’s a loft area, there are no steps that MUST be used (both of our fathers are in their 70s so mobility was a concern); they provide all linens, silverware, glassware, etc; plus it was within walking distance of our ceremony location. Sqwire’s also thoughtfully let us use chairs for our ceremony for free(we simply had to carry them over to the park and back again), and offered us a “rain” contingency—they’d let us come in an hour early if it rained and we needed to hold the ceremony at the reception site. That alone took a world of worry off my mind.

The coordinator was remarkably easy to work with…easy going, but always making sure I hit my deadlines without any nagging. I was a bit apprehensive when our coordinator left the week before our wedding, leaving us with a brand new coordinator, but my worries were unfounded: The new coordinator did a fabulous job! Everything that I’d discussed previously went through flawlessly, and the new coordinator was on site day of our wedding and made sure everything went according to plan.

We had a buffet brunch, with a limited bar (bloody marys and mimosas). Price was reasonable and the food was tasty. I was wary of doing a buffet (I’ve been to so many bad ones), but this was remarkably well done: The hot stuff was hot, the cold stuff was cold, and all of it was remarkably flavorful. Several of my friends are self described food snobs, and all of them enjoyed the meal. The best surprise was that when we got our final bill there WAS no surprise—everything was exactly as we’d discussed with no hidden charges.

Sqwire’s Annex IS a smaller venue; I think my literature said it could comfortably hold 200 (although I think that might be a bit of a stretch); we had approximately 70 people there, and it was comfortably roomy without looking empty. But I would highly recommend it for ANYTHING: rehearsal dinner, shower, whatever.

I love to design and event at Sqwires. Their food is excellent and service is great as well. My brides have been very happy with their wedding receptions. If you are looking for a great location with a hip urban feel to fit about 125 people check them out.
