Starlite Dance Club

We had a great lesson, which definitely boosted our confidence for our dance. They require you to buy a package if it is for a wedding. Since we only had a week before the wedding, they waived that for us. Just make sure not to say "wedding"!

I love to dance and I always imagined doing a choreographed first dance. My (now husband) isn't as keen on ballroom dance only because it doesn't come as naturally to him. After watching a friend do a choreographed routine at her wedding, which was 2 weeks before mine, I was inspired to take classes. The week before the wedding we managed to take an intro lesson, which really is only the basic to which ever style you decide to do. Then the instructor will try to come up with a plan of lessons depending on your skill level and amount of time you have left until the wedding. We signed up for 6 lessons, but over 3 days. We doubled up 2 lessons each day. Our instructor, Victoria, was so great. She knew exactly what we could do in the short amount of time we had and came up with a great routine. She also helped my husband become a better leader. We barely had time to practice outside of the lessons, but somehow we managed to get through the entire routine without messing up when it came to showtime. I would highly recommend going to Starlite, which is now Cheryl Burke's (from Dancing with the Stars) Starlite in Mountain View to anyone looking to spice it up a little and change from the typical "hug and sway".

Maya is great, and she came up with a choreographed dance for us. She also has a great sense of humor and can teach both the leader and follower positions really well.
