Working with Stax O Wax was a delight from start to finish. I was impressed when I received a friendly and professional call right after placing a quote request through their website, and their online song selection system was fantastic. At the reception itself, everything was absolutely perfect. Curt was a terrific emcee and a friendly and reassuring presence for all of us as we navigated through the entrances, toasts, special dances, cake cutting, and more.Curt's song selection was flawless and diverse and facilitated a great time for everyone. Many, many guests commented that they had never had such a good time at a wedding. I can't recommend Stax O Wax strongly enough!

Like many engaged couples my fiancée and I had a clear idea of how we wanted our wedding reception to be conducted and turn out and I am thrilled to say that Curt brought to fruition everything for which we had hoped. Stax O Wax accommodated each of our requests and took the time to painstakingly ensure that every detail was to our specifications from preparing our desired hue for the decor lighting to tracking down specific versions of songs that we requested. Curt was also completely adherent to our lengthy play and do not play lists. Throughout the planning process and the night of the event Curt worked well with the other vendors and made an effort to check in with us to verify that things were just as we wanted and he also sought feedback to see if there was anything that we wished to change as the night went on. There was no need to change anything though since he gave us exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend Stax O Wax and plan to use them again for future events.

I can't believe my luck when I found my dj on the internet. I started looking at reviews and asking my friends if they knew any djs and 3 out of 4 said that I should check out Stax O Wax. I went to there website and asked for an online quote, and within minutes, I received a call from their staff. What service! That was what I got through the whole planning for my wedding. It was great! They are very nice to talk to, and very helpful.I had Sean at my wedding as the dj, and he was incredible. He knew exactly what to do, and when to do it. I didn't have to worry about a single thing. Everyone danced, and he played all of the songs I requested. My wedding was so much fun. Stax O Wax is worth every penny.

I was referred to Stax o wax by two other people and I am so glad i choose them!!!! There are so many companies out there~word of mouth is the best reference! They made everything so easy and it all ran so smoothly, I had nothing to woory about! We got married on friday Spt 9, 2011 and our first venue ended up closeing, but that wasnt a problem for them~they just followed us whereever we wanted to go! The music was excellent and everyone got to hear a variety of whatever they wanted! Very friendly people too! They are so organized, that you dont have to be! I will deffinately be telling anyone I know that is getting married about them!

We hired Stax O Wax for our wedding on August 6, 2011 and it was our goal to have the most fun wedding/party ever. Shawn and Nick certainly helped us do that! From the get go Shawn was very friendly, personable and easy to work with. He responded in a very timely manner to any questions we had leading up to the wedding and provided lots of helpful insight and suggestions to some of the things we wanted to do. From the start of the reception to the very end, Shawn and Nick were awesome! They started the dance off by getting everyone on the dance floor and kept them there the entire night. Shawn and Nick incorporated a variety of music that appealed to everyone. We had many people say that it was literally impossible to leave the dance floor because every time they tried another good song would come on. Shawn and Nick truly took our reception to the next level and gave us the party we wanted.Hiring Stax O Wax for our wedding was easily one of the best decisions we ever made. In addition to creating an awesome atmosphere, that many of our friends said felt more like a club than a wedding, Shawn's attention to detail and preparedness prior to the wedding made for a flawless reception. A DJ can make or break a wedding, so if you want a wedding where people walk away and say that was one of the best and most fun weddings they have been to I would hire Stax O Wax. That's response we got and we can't give Shawn and Nick enough thanks and credit for making our day so fun and memorable.

These guys were FANTASTIC!!! Seriously the best DJ company that I've seen. We had Shawn and Curt, both of the owners, playing at my wedding and everyone was raving about them and continues to. Already I have 2 of my wifes gf's who are getting married soon wanting to book them. The music was great, the mixes were awesome, and they were always there checking up making sure we were having fun which I see as extremely important. I know a lot of DJ's play that "traditional cheesy DJ Music" for weddings. Everything we had that night was new, my age group (27) and had everyone on the Floor. The floor was packed the whole night too which I was surprised with my family....so double great job to them! Definitely worth it!

You will be blown away when you hire Stax O Wax. We had Shawn and Nick for my daughter's wedding and they were FABULOUS! We had at least 20 people say they are going to hire them for their next event and EVEN MORE people comment on how funny and entertaining they were. They played a great mix, were funny, personable, professional and most of all listened to the bride and did whatever she wanted. We were so entertained during dinner which is usually a pretty dull time waiting for your food to be delivered, but we had Shawn and Nick entertaining us throughout the dinner and we were all cracking up and singing along. It was amazing. You won't be sorry when you hire them, you will be the talk of the town. A good DJ can really "make" the reception. We had a full dance floor, with all age groups out there ALL NIGHT. Best decision ever. Thanks to them, my daughter's dreams came true, a fabulous reception.

Stax O Wax is the most amazing DJ vendor! If you have been looking for a DJ that will make your wedding or party a hit, then these are your guys. My husband and I waited 14 yrs to get married. Honestly the biggest reason was that we were afraid of how it would work out when we got our families together. His family is very traditional Mexican, and mine is American. Two completely different music expectations. We met with Shawn, and he was confident that he could make it work. We hired him, but were still really nervous about how it was going to work. 4 days before the wedding we had every detail worked out, except the music. Stax O Wax gave us access to their site which has a great song planner guide, and sent us several reminders to fill it out, but we just kept putting it off because we were so nervous about mixing the two musics together. Shawn met with us in person and we went through everything together step by step. We really felt better after that meeting. On our wedding day, everything was perfect. Shawn was very attentive the whole evening. He really cared about our comfort as well as our guests. He was so perceptive as to which music to play. By the middle of the wedding, EVERYONE was on the dance floor! It was amazing! Shawn was excellent! I would recommend him to anyone who wants to throw an event that people will talk about forever. I also want to add that we chose to use the uplighting provided by Stax O Wax, and it was fantastic! We were married at our venue, and used the uplighting for our reception. It truly changed the look and feel of the room. Everyone loved it!

I had Stax O Wax for our wedding reception and would highly recommend them to everyone!! Curt was our DJ and did a phenomenal job!! He was always a step ahead. Curt called the week of the wedding and double-checked everything, and wanted to make sure it would be what I wanted it to be. Curt gave me good advice about how to keep the night going smooth and keep everyone happy. I used Stax O Wax for my wedding this past weekend. Shawn was my DJ and I could not be happier with the job he did. Stax-O-Wax was a great idea!!! I got a recommendation from them through my sisters friend. Shawn & his son did a wonderful job for our wedding reception. We wish more people would have danced and that was concerning to Shawn; he always asked us what else he could do to get more people on the floor. We expressed to him everyone is having a wonderful time and the ones who wanted to dance, danced. Me and my husband danced pretty much all night and that is all that really matters. We did a surprise dance and it was a huge hit!!!! Stax always answered our questions and always seemed very enthused to be a part of our wedding. I would highly recommend Stax and extra lights. Hiring Stax O Wax to do the music for my reception was the best decision I could have made. The music was awesome, the DJ was enthusiastic, and they were very helpful in helping me with playlists and suggestions to make sure the night went as good as it could have gone. The service that I received was outstanding. I got engaged on New Years Eve, and my fiance and I decided to get married right away. I remember seeing Stax o Wax at my friends wedding 4 years ago, and gave them a call. I talked with Sean and Kurt about djing my wedding ceremony and reception. They were so nice, and gave me great ideas for songs and were very helpful in laying out an idea of how things were going to happen.My ceremony was beautiful, and exactly how I imagined it to be. The reception was so much fun! I have never danced so much. I have gotten nothing but compliments from my friends and family.I have to give Stax o Wax all the credit of making my wedding the best that I have ever gone to. The best part..... It was mine!

Their suggestions for my ceremony were so helpful. The room looked beautiful with the lights that they provided us. They were very responsive to all emails and phone calls. My guests are still calling me 3 weeks after my wedding to tell me how much fun they had. We spent a lot of money on making sure our entertainment was top notch, and it was all worth it. No horror stories with these guys. I think that says it all. Keep up the great work!

We hired Stax O Wax for our daughter's wedding. Curt and Shawn were the DJ's and they truly made the evening a celebration. I don't think I have ever seen a dance floor so full (and filled all night). I received many complimentary comments regarding their song selection and professionalism. They are easy to work with and very accessible. Their firm is truly a class act! I highly recommend.

Ours was a second marriage, rather small in numbers [60], on a wintery Sunday afternoon/evening. Stax-O-Wax was recommended to me by my soon-to-be-daughter-in-law, who had heard them at a recent fundraiser. They got back to me within an hour (!), were responsive to our budget, understood that I wanted uniqueness, and were the ones to suggest that we have them do both the ceremony and the reception; tentatively, I agreed, and it was AWESOME!!! Several times during the evening the DJ came to me, verified everything was going well, asked if anything needed to be different, and gauged the crowd beautifully, resulting in a full dance floor until our final song: 'Goodnight, Sweetheart' by the Spaniels! Just enjoyed them again at the Cerebral Palsy fundraiser; they are now a part of our wedding album, and our lives! CAN'T recommend them enough!!!

I was totally lost when it came to djs. My mom saw stax o wax at a new years eve party at my banquet hall (concorde banquets). She told me that it was the most fun she has ever had at a party before. I think that she should know, she's a professional party planner for her company. She has seen a lot of djs and bands, and when she said that I had to get them, I listened. My mom was right, they are so nice, friendly and helpful through the whole planning process. I spoke to a couple of different people at their office and each one gave great suggestions on music and the timing of events.My wedding was so much fun, and I didn't have to worry about anything. My aunt was actually dancing on the table. (I've got pictures)My husband & I including my entire family had so much fun at my wedding, we made reservations, and went to the concorde for their new years eve party. What a great time. Twice in one month. What a treat! I give them 5 stars.

This is the second time I have used Stax o Wax. They always amaze me on how helpful they are and professional. They are there to make sure your wedding guests have a great time and a GREAT time they do have!!! I used them 6 yrs ago at my daughter's wedding and this past weekend at my son's and have no complaints. Sean and Nick were great and we all had a fantastic time. If I had more kids I would use them again!!!

Shawn and Nick were amazing at my wedding! They were so friendly and suggested geat songs and ideas...Shawn even suggested a perfect song to surprise my new "hockey loving" husband as we were making our grand entrance! I stumbled across Stax o Wax while I was looking for a dj for my wedding. I did a search for dj's, and I was directed to Wedding Wire, and then started looking at the reviews of all the dj's in my area. I narrowed it down to 3 dj companies and I tried to get quotes from them. Stax o Wax was the 1st to get back to me(within 5 minutes). One company called me 2 days later, and the 3rd never called at all. I was impressed with Stax to say the least. I talked with Sean on the phone and he was very helpful in answering my questions, and guiding me through the process, since I have never done this before. I met with Curt at their office in Cary, and we signed the contract. The planning was very easy. Everything was done online, so it was easy for me to pick songs while I was at work. On the Monday before my wedding, they contacted me to confirm all the details, which was very nice, because I didn't have to follow them around like I did with my photographer & flowers. The party was absolutely incredible! My family and a couple of my friends have called me already, just to tell me how much fun they had. My brother who flew all the way in from California said, "If all the parties in IL are like that, I'm moving back". I think that says it all.Stax o Wax is a great company, and if you read all of the reviews, you'll start to understand that these guys really know how to get people to have a good time. Shawn and the Stax O Wax team were wonderful to work with. They were very responsive and helpful throughout the planning process. Their online planning form is a great way to plan things out well in advance (i.e. when you have time!) rather than scrambling the week of. I also had a chat with Shawn on the phone a few days ahead of time to verify all my choices, etc. At the reception, he checked in with me frequently to make sure everything was ok but also that we were having fun. All in all, I would highly recommend Stax O Wax.

I want to tell all of the brides out there about what a great company Stax O Wax is. I found them WeddingWire and read all of their reviews. I was hooked. I call them right away, and they were very friendly and informative over the phone. I then made an appointment to meet with them at their office, and again they were very professional & friendly. My fiance & I decided to book them that night.They have an online planning form that really helped us set up the different things for our wedding (first dance, father daughter, bouquet & garter toss, etc..). It was very easy to use.At the reception, I had the "Signature" package with 1 dj and 1 assistant, and I have to tell you, it was worth its weight in gold to have that second person there. It was so nice that the assistant (Nick) kept coming up to us to inform us of what was coming up next while the dj (Curt) kept the dance floor going. Everyone had such a great time. Even my parents said that they have never had so much fun at a wedding before, and they hate djs. My mom finally admitted that she can't wait until the next family wedding in February that is using Stax O Wax also. I would say that it should be a very easy decision to make when you are looking for a dj. It must be Stax O Wax every time. Thanks again guys, you did a great job!

OMG they are so good! I just had them for my wedding on August 14th, and they deserve a "Perfect 10". I went all out with my budget on the dj, because I have always believed that the most important part of the wedding was the dj. That's why I hired Stax O Wax to: dj, do the room uplighting, and make my montage that we showed at my wedding.I saw them seven years ago at my sister's wedding, and they made such an impression on me, I said that when I get married, I'm using Stax O Wax. So when I got engaged, I called them and hired them right away. They are very easy to talk to, the planning forms are easy to use, and being able to listen to the music as you're picking it off of their music database was really cool.At the reception, the room looked awesome. The uplighting matched the bridesmaid dresses, and I got so many compliments about how beautiful the room looked. THe montage made everyone laugh, they all loved it. The djs were incredible. All of the songs I requested were played, and I never left the dance floor all night long, my feet still hurt. :) I liked that the djs kept checking with me throughout the night to see how things were going and if I needed anything. Everything was perfect! If I have any advise for anyone shopping out there, it is to make sure that you don't cheap out on the entertainment. I went with all the best things that Stax O Wax has to offer, and I will never regret it.

I was recommended to Stax O Wax by a colleague and was absolutely thrilled! They were so professional and totally put my mind at ease when it was time to make the party happen! Stax O Wax was recommended to my by my hairstylist. She had told me that the guests at her wedding all raved about the DJ and many of her other friends had them at their weddings! I took that as making a great choice for my wedding. My husband and I chose Stax O Wax for our wedding and we could not have been happier. Both Curt and Sean were always so easy to talk to when I called them before the wedding. They were very helpful and I never felt like I was bothering them with some of my silly questions. They were very informative, so I felt very at ease before the wedding. After the ceremony, Curt came and introduced himself. He was so kind and professional at the same time. He always made sure that we were happy with what was going on with the music. He was even so grateful that we had a seat for him to eat with us for dinner, which made us even happier that we had a seat reserved for him at a table. The music was great the rest of the night. People were dancing until the very END! It was amazing! He played a great selection and when he noticed that no one was dancing at a song, he switched it up right away until people got back out on the dance floor (which was a song later...ha) My husband Joe and I would SO recommend Stax O Wax for any event. You will NOT go wrong by choosing them for your next event!

They were fantastic. I am so happy with customer service that I received. They always returned phone calls and emails right away. They played all the music I requested and more. They were very friendly to my guests. Everyone had a great time. I have three friends that are getting married, and one of them already hired them, and the other two want them too. Stax o Wax was recommended to us by several people who had had them DJ their weddings. They went above and beyond for us and exceeded all our expectations. Music is such a huge part of the wedding and our music was just perfect, no one ever left the dance floor and people were wanting to dance before dinner was over! Shawn did such a wonderful job making our wedding flow beautifully and it really felt as if he got who we were as a couple and the music our friends and family would love. We got rave reviews about our wedding and how amazing the music was. I have recommended them to several couples whos weddings are coming up and if we ever have another event where a DJ is needed they will be the ones we call.

I have a reputation of being very picky when it comes to running things. Stax was very easy to work with and gave good music suggestions for my reception. Being an over planner, I called them at least 20 times in the last couple weeks before my wedding, and they always answered my questions without an attitude. They were the only company that I hired that made me feel that way. My florist did the flowers and invitations, and they made me feel like I was bothering them every time I called. I will follow up with a review on them later.After everything is said and done, I would hire Stax O Wax again for any one of the parties that I may have in the future, and I suggest that you do too!pychobeotch

Stax was the best thing that we did for our wedding, even better than the food. They were very helpful, quick to return all emails, phone calls, and really put me at ease every time I talked with them. I really liked picking the music with all of their music and plannig forms being online. My husband and I used Stax o Wax for our wedding June 18th 2010. Sean and Curt were absolutly wonderful!!! They are very professional and helped to guide us through our night so it was worry free! Our ceremony and reception music was awesome! The are very good about answering any and all questions. We did the ultimate package and had cool uplighting. Sean and Curt also created an outstanding Video Montage, I HIGHLY recommend this ! Where do I even begin??? If you don't book Stax O Wax...you're crazy!Shawn was our DJ and was absolutely incredible! We filled out all of the online stuff and when Shawn and I talked the week of the wedding we finalized all of the details that we wanted. He discussed what he thought would and would not work and offered some great suggestions!He is so thourough with everything, quadruple checked everything with me, kept me in the loop on what was going on through the whole evening, and was ALWAYS checking on us to make sure we were happy!He was so easy to work with and was so patient with us with last minute changes at the actual recpetion. The music was GREAT! Everyone is talking about how much fun they had. The dance floor was constantly packed! He played everything we wanted and then some. For a little while there wasn't anyone dancing because we realized everyone was outside taking a breather because they had been dancing so much! When we asked him to pick up the music a little bit and change the tone, he did instantly and the dance floor was packed again! Right up until the last song. He even played music my friends and I hadn't heard since high school! Some of my friends even say that songs they didn't like before, they do now, because it reminds them of how much fun they had at our wedding.Shawn was so accommodating when my Dad wanted to incorporate the Blackhawks Stanley Cup championship into some things that involved the DJ. He totally went along with it with no complaints. He made our grand entrance one no one will ever forget!You will be really sorry if you don't book Stax o Wax and ask for Shawn!!!

I am so happy to be writing this review. Stax-o-Wax did an incredible job at my wedding. I got their name from a friend, and the instant I talked with them, I knew that I had the right dj for my wedding. From the early planning stages, to the confirmation call the week before, they always seemed to be happy to take my phone calls and emails, and answer all of my questions. They gave me great suggestions on songs for night. The djs walked me through all the different events during my reception, so I didn't have to worry about anything. It was like I had a wedding planner right there. I never left the floor. I had so much fun.We also hired Stax-o-Wax to do the uplighting in our room. I saw the video on their website, and immediately fell in love with idea of my room being lit up with all the colors of the rainbow. It was just like the video, but better. I would have never dreamed that you can take a banquet room and turn it into something so beautiful by just adding lights. I walked into my room before my cocktails started, and saw the room glowing the color pink that my bridesmaids were wearing. I was so happy, I began to cry. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was absolutely beautiful. The colors changed slowly throughout dinner, and when it came to the dancing, WOW! I couldn't believe it! The whole room was dancing. It was worth every penny. I still have people telling me how great my wedding was. They mention two things, the great music and how cool the lighting in the room was. I owe it all to Stax-o-Wax. I will always refer them to anyone needing a dj.

Stax O Wax was amazing! They helped out with everything! They checked in throughout the reception to ask how they were doing which was very thoughtful. We also had some problems with our reception hall and made Stax O Wax aware of the situation incase they had an problems which they did the day of our wedding and they stood their ground and handled the situation with out involving myself or my husband. They were like my little wedding planners the day of the wedding! We had them do music for the cermony outside of the reception hall and they did a wonderful job! I could not have picked a better dj for my wedding! Even my guest have told me how awesome my dj's were and I agree! I always wanted to have a wedding people would talk about how much fun they had and because of Stax O Wax, I did! Thank you guys!

My husband & I are so happy with our choice for a dj. We shopped around quite a bit, and noticed that after doing some research and reading reviews, Stax o wax had an awesome reputation. They were very friendly, they helped me with my planning and music. They kept checking with me, and asking me throughout the night if everything was going ok. I really liked that a lot! Everything was perfect.

Stax O Wax was amazing at our wedding!!!! We had the ultimate package with uplighting and a photo montage and all 3 were more than we could have ever imagined! I'm not saying this because it was my wedding but I have literally never gone to a wedding where people wanted to dance before the first dance happened and the whole floor filled up right after all the special dances (First dance, dad & daughter etc.) This was all because of Stax O Wax. They got the party moving, had an amazing dinner show that made dinner not so awkward for the guests sitting with other guests that they did not know. All and all, I couldn't have wished for a better DJ!

They were amazing!! Very helpful, they made my husband and me look like pros at the wedding. Gave great advice and were very helpful. They made our day a dream come true. Everyone loved the music and still are talking about our wedding. They made sure the music continue to reflect the mood of the wedding. PERFECT!! :)

Their suggestions for my ceremony music were great. The ceremony was beautiful. I really had fun picking music for the reception with their music list being on line. They were very friendly over the phone, and seemed to return my emails within minutes of me sending them. Now that's what I call service. I never had to wait for a response like my sister did with the dj company that she hired for her wedding. My sister told me that she was jealous of the quick response, the great service, & how much fun our wedding was compared to hers. I had absolutely no problems with the ceremony, reception, or service I received. Stax-o-wax was just incredible! They deserve all the awards they get. I am going to tell everyone about them.

Shawn was our DJ at our wedding reception on May 1st, 2010! We saw a Stax O' Wax DJ perform at a friends wedding and decided to give them a call. Communication was excellent from the start. We planned our wedding from out-of-state and their planning website is great and easy to use. I picked 2 songs that were not on the list and Shawn made sure they were available and used them at my wedding without hassle or question! Shawn was friendly, punctual and professional. He was awesome and most importantly he kept everyone on schedule! Not to mention the music was wonderful and everyone had an absolute blast! I would hire Stax O' Wax again in an instant!

The planning forms were easy to use. I did most of the planning from work. When I called to ask questions, they were always helpful and nice. My dj went out of the way to make sure I knew what to do and when. He asked me a half dozen times during the night how things were going. I really thought that was great! The music was exactly the way I always pictured it. I can't say enough positive things about Stax O Wax. They really live up to their slogan, "The Perfect Dj for the Perfect Wedding".

I'm sorry that it has taking me so long to write my review about Stax O Wax, because everyone should know about them. I saw them at my aunts wedding eight years ago, and forgot about them until I started to look for my own wedding. I called my aunt to ask her dj was ,and instantly, she said Stax O Wax. She was so happy with them, that she remembered their name right away. I looked them up on the internet and called them right away. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually talked to a human during the day when I could call on my lunch break. They were very pleasant, professional, and willing to answer my questions. I knew I made the right choice.The reception was awesome! I had Stax O Wax do the uplighting in my room, and it was worth every penny. My guest couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the room looked. I actually had my uncle say "WOW"!!!!! when the lights changed colors when the dancing began. The music was perfect! They played all of my favorite songs, and didn't seem to be bothered by me changing my mind 20 different times during the evening. I will always refer them to anyone looking for a dj. I would highly recommend Stax O Wax DJ Production to any future bride. Not only were the DJ's professional and flexible they were open to any last minute changes. They performed their dinner show at my wedding and my guests can not stop talking about how funny and entertaining Shawn and Nick were. Sometimes it can be ackward to sit with people you may not know at weddings and this gave everyone something to watch and talk about. Overall, they were fabulous!!!

Stax o Wax was the best DJ service I could have asked for on my wedding day. Planning from the very beginning, I always received attentive service, and everyone was so kind. Shawn was an amazing DJ and kept everyone on the dance floor all night. He managed to play the best songs that made everyone get up and move, which was exactly what we wanted. Before the wedding, Shawn listened to what I wanted, and then also provided his own suggestions, which ended up being better than my ideas! If I could do it all over again, I would not change a thing with our DJ. We will be recommending them to all of our friends who will be getting married in the future!

Everything was wonderful. The photo montage was beautiful. I have already called Stax O Wax for 2 more additional copies for my family. My husband and I had so much fun picking music from their music list. I was very impressed when I didn't find a couple of my songs on their list, but, they went out and got them for me any way. The customer service with this company is very good. They always answered my emails right away, and were very patient when I asked them questions. This was very important to me, because my photographer made me feel like I was putting him out everytime I asked a question. This company deserves the 5 stars I gave them plus everyone of the awards that they have received. They do a fantastic job, and everyone should know it.I have already joked with my sister about using them for my 10th anniversary.

I LOVE THEM!!!! I can't say enough about them. They were so nice to me when I called them. Very fast returning my emails, sometimes within minutes. They did everything I asked them to and more. The dj guided me through the night so I didn't have to worry about what to do & when. They really know their stuff. Over all, they made my wedding a night I will always cherish. Stax O Wax DJ service was honestly the best service we could have imagined! My husband and I were so happy with our ceremony and reception! Our friends and family members said it was one of the best weddings they've been too, everyone danced until the the end of the night, it was really the best money we spent on our wedding. Sean was our DJ, and he was awesome at his job! I was never stressed about what was going on from Ceremony to Reception, he completly handled everything and flowed right into one thing to the next. It was so nice not worrying about a thing! The week of the wedding we went over everything on the phone and so the day of he was able to take complete control so we just enjoyed the day. We could not thank them enough for making our wedding everything we wanted it to be! I am constantly refering them, and we will definately use them again, even if we just throw a big party! I am so happy that I found Stax O Wax, and had them for our wedding on February 13, 2010. I searched the internet for djs in the chicagoland area, and found them on WeddingWire. I read all of their reviews, and was very impressed. I called them the next day, and I found out that they really are a full time company. They actually answered the phone at 10 am., unlike the other 2 companies that I had to leave messages for. They called me later that evening(one even called 2 days later). The 2 gentlemen that I talked to were Shawn & Curt. Very knowledgeable, very professional, and really seemed to care about my wedding. I hired them to play for my ceremony(awesome job), my reception(fantastic job), and my video montage. The montage looked very high-tech and had everyone laughing and enjoying themselves. It was also a great way to kick off the evening.It's been 3 weeks since my wedding and my guests were so impressed that since then, I have gotten 4 phone calls to find out who my dj's were, so they can use them at their parties. My friends were right! These guys were worth every penny I spent and more. I live in Florida, and I got their number from my friend in Chicago. I filled out a quote on their site, and they called me 5 minutes later. WOW that's service! I continued to check out their website and was very impressed. After talking with them, and using my friends referral, I went with Stax O Wax as my DJ. They were incredible. They helped me pick my music for the my ceremony, and suggested songs for the reception. They were very helpful and nice to talk to. I called them so many times, it became kinda funny. They said to me, "This is what we do, it's OK, we love to talk to our customers, we are here to help out." They were the only vendor that I hired, that didn't make me feel bad about asking questions.The reception was wonderful, I didn't have to worry about a thing. The djs kept guiding me along, and letting me know what was coming up next. This was very helpful to me considering that I found out that Chicago weddings are very different than Florida weddings. I used their online planning forms, which made picking and planning all the music fun, specially since I am from out of state. My reception was perfect! Everyone had fun. Stax played all my songs, and no one wanted to leave.I hope future brides read this review because, you will have the time of your life. The guys over at Stax of Wax are the BEST! They played at my sister's wedding in September 2008, and they were great. When I got engaged, there was no question in my mind who the DJ was going to be. Awesome! We heard Stax at my brothers wedding 3 years ago. Curt played almost all our requested songs and really kept the party going. We heard NUMEROUS remarks on the music. I highly recommend Stax for any event.Heads up- they can come off as very opinionated, which was off putting, but I realized they just wanted the music to be top notch.

My husband and I live in Dallas but got married in Chicago Oct 24th. It was hard to plan a wedding out of state. I chose my vendors based on recommendations. I chose StaxOWax as my DJ. A DJ can make a break a wedding and that is not something you want to skimp on. Staxowax was worth everything they charged. They were very reasonably priced. (we actually had two dj's, one was an assistant) We had Shaun as our DJ and let me tell you he was absolutely awesome. They have all been very responsive and helpful throughout the process. They had a great site for picking all your music and organizing it. They were very receptive and played music based on what I asked for and also they profiled the audience and played music based on the response from the guests. They also did my photo montage. They were so organized that I didnt have to worry about one thing the whole night. They led me through the whole process. I also asked my reception hall what they thought about Staxowax after I had hosen them and their response was "they are the best we have had". That sealed the deal for us!

My fiance and I got married this past Saturday evening and Curt Zimmerman from Stax O Wax was the DJ. I have only the best things to say about Curt and the wonderful job he did! I tend to be fairly hard to please, and thus don't often offer high praise for services, but Curt from Stax O Wax was just terrific. Working with him was a breeze. The Stax O Wax website made it easy to submit a playlist of songs (even obscure, difficult-to-find selections) that were played at the wedding. In the run-up to the wedding, Curt was always extremely responsive to any questions or requests I had. He was professional and friendly the night of the wedding.Curt played the songs my fiance and I had requested but also accommodated selections made by our wedding guests. He astutely read the mood of the guests and skillfully mixed fast and slow dance songs. And Curt was incredibly easy to work with regarding making announcements (e.g. gathering for a toast, first dance) to the guests when necessary.My fiance and I couldn't have been more pleased with our selection of Stax O Wax for our wedding reception. I would certainly give Curt Zimmerman and Stax O Wax more than five stars if the reviewing system allowed me to do so. There really isn't anything to say except that this was the best choice we have made for our wedding!My husband's sister told us about Stax O Wax and we are so lucky she did! We were lucky enough to work with both Shawn and Curt during the planning process. These two bend over backwards to make sure your music is exactly what you want for your big day. The online form is great. They are definitely on top of their game. I was so into planning that I missed the deadline to submit my form, Shawn was on the phone with me the day it was due making sure everything was good to go.We had requested a special first dance that required a lot of man hours to put a mix of songs together. This is what I mean by bending backwards. As busy as they are, they took the time to compile our first dance "megamix"...by the way, everyone loved it! And...we made the front page of their website! =0)We went with the dinner show package and again...best decision! We had peope dancing and singing even before dinner started! I was told by one of my guests that the only bad thing about the dj was that they played all the good music during dinner so they couldn't dance. ;0) (that's the point...get your butt on the dancefloor!) In fact...both my husband and I catch ourselves doing a couple of their skits when we hear those songs.Shawn and Nick were our personal djs and they were just awesome! We had huge problems with our photographer that night and Shawn noticed it right away and came over and talked with us...which really helped! I mean...who does that!?! Especially not a dj. They knew exactly what to play and what not to play to keep people on the dancefloor. They were a total hit and still to this day we have guests talking about how great the music was!Shawn actually just called me earlier this week to see how everything was going. Asked how the honeymoon was and how we felt about their performance. Everyone at Stax O Wax has the biggest hearts and are just wonderful to work with. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. I've been to three weddings since mine in Sept 09, and 2 of those have had Stax O Wax. They were just as great at each one of those as they were at mine. The third dj (not to name names) was a company that I actually shopped, and they told me that they were the "best in the business", how wrong they were. They called the bride by the wrong name at the beginning of the night, and it got worse from there, but that's another story. I couldn't be happier with my decision to use Stax O Wax as my dj. They helped me pick songs for my ceremony, they made a montage that everyone loved, and they kept the dance floor full all night long. I had a very small wedding with only 60 people, so I was afraid that my wedding wasn't going to be the big huge bash that I had gone to in the past for my friends who also used Stax O Wax. I couldn't be more wrong. From the very first time I met them, they made me feel like I was having a wedding for 300. It was so much fun talking with them and planning my wedding, I felt like part of the family. My reception was a huge success and I will never forget how special they made me feel.

Shawn and his assistant were on time (preventing more stress), fun and very energetic!!! They constantly checked to see if there was more they could do. Everyone said it was the best wedding they ever attended. One woman said to me that her husband always left the wedding right after dinner. The time she told me this, it was 5 minutes to close!!!!

This was my one job that my wife gave me to do for our wedding, and I hit it out of the park with these guys. I saw them at my cousins wedding in Iowa, and thought that they did a great job. I asked my cousin who the djs were at their wedding and I was surprised to find out that they were from the Chicago area & not from the Quad Cities. I called them and told them that I really needed help with the music, and they seemed to happy to help.Stax O Wax ended up playing for our ceremony, and reception and I would give them a 10 out of 10. A job well done! We also used them for the uplighting in our room. Talk about a cool effect! The room looked awesome during cocktails & dinner with slow changing solid colors, but when the dancing began, the room started to dance. The lights started changing colors with the music. I am a fan forever! These guys are awesome. I used them for my ceremony, reception, and my video montage. I had no clue what music I wanted to use for my ceremony and the office staff was very patient and helpful in helping me make my ceremony beautiful.I also hired Stax O Wax to make and show my photo montage at the reception. It was more that I could have ever hoped for. I was able to view it at their office before my wedding to make sure it was what I was looking for. My husband & I thought that it was really cool to be able to do that. If you get the montage through them, you won't be disappointed. I looked great, very professional.We hired the "Classic Package" for the reception and the entertainment during dinner had everyone singing & laughing at the tables. It was a lot of fun. The fun didn't stop there. Once my first dance was done, I didn't leave the floor for the rest of the night, either did my guest. Stax o wax was incredible for our wedding. They were easy to work with and were available when I had questions. For all future brides this is the one and only DJ company that you should ever speak with.
