Studio Cake

Some of the best cake I have ever eaten! Most cakes either look good on the outside or taste good on the inside. Their cakes do both!
At our first appointment we were able to taste 5 samples. Each one tasted delicious. We were also able to taste her fondant. My mother dislikes fondant with a passion. However, after we left our taste testing, my mother became a lover of fondant. (Well, at least their fondant!)
As we got closer to our date we tried 5 more flavors. My husband and I picked 1 from our first taste, 1 from our second, and then picked a flavor we didn't even try. The third "wild card" flavor was my favorite! My point is, you cannot go wrong with Studio Cake. Everything they make not only looks amazingly beautiful on the outside but also tastes phenomenal on the inside. You cannot go wrong with any of their cakes!

Studio Cake designed our gorgeous, unique, and delicious wedding cake! BethAnn is very friendly and easy to work with. She patiently listened to our ideas and created a cake even more beautiful than we had envisioned. She is very responsive to emails and delivered our cake to the venue on time. We have received many compliments from our guests on how tasty our cake was. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Gone Bananas flavor was my favorite! :)

We used Studio Cake in Menlo Park for our April 2012 wedding. BethAnn is a delightful person to work with and she was very helpful in helping us design the bride and groom's cakes we wanted. She has a large variety of flavors and frostings - we received many compliments on our "lovey-dovey" white chocolate cake in particular. She is also a very talented cake designer - my husband wanted her to design a cake that looked like a box of popcorn. The result - which was a red velvet cake on the inside with the trademark red-and-white stripes in the frosting on the outside of the movie-style popcorn "box" - was striking, memorable, and delicious!

My fiance and I weren't exactly sure what we wanted - other than not wanting traditional. BethAnn sat down with us and listened to who we were and let us brainstorm ideas to our heart's content. I had to leave our meeting early, but she stayed and spoke with my fiance to make sure his wishes were reflected as well.
The cake itself was DELICIOUS!!! but also so emblematic of who we were ... every guest commented that it couldn't have been better suited to us.
I highly recommend the Lemon Raspberry and GWiz flavors; most of our guests got 2 pieces of cake because they just had to try the 2nd flavor after realizing how wonderful the first was :)

Our cake was delicious and beautiful! Working with Beth Ann was a fun process and the results were amazing!

BethAnn is great to work with. She was within my budget and can work with your budget. She responds timely to your emails and messages. In addition I showed her pictures of cake designs and she sketched a design idea for me with color. She found the perfect shade of blue to match my color swatch I showed her. We made an appointment for cake tasting and I wanted to taste more flavors so she made samples for me on another day and I picked them up. We were able to come up with a flavor that was not on her menu, which I hear she will now be offering.

I’m so happy I have found BethAnn to make our wedding cake! At the start of planning our wedding, I was nervous about finding a baker because I often hear that the cakes may be beautiful but not yummy. But after I went to her for our first tasting, I knew I didn’t have to search around for another bakery for comparison. She uses the best ingredients, nothing artificial, and her cakes were beautiful, so moist and flavorful! I wish I could have her cake every week! I showed her photos of some cakes I liked and she sketched up our cake design for me to approve. She created the most beautiful wedding cake for us! It was smooth buttercream frosting (so yummy, not like some other frosting that are so unbearably sweet) with an elegant swirl design, 3 tiers and flowers on top and between the layers. It was difficult to narrow down our choices for flavors because of the 6 flavors or so we tried, we loved them all. However, we chose Almond Orchard (apricot preserves with almonds) and Lemon Raspberry Twist. Oh my goodness - the cake was the best! As everyone know, the bride and groom usually has no time to eat their dinner during the reception. And since your wedding gown is so tight, you don’t even feel comfortable eating! I only had two bites of my filet mignon. BUT, I had no problem eating the cake! Our guests all loved the cake too, saying it had just the perfect amount of sweetness and the flavors were unique. Thank you BethAnn!!!

Simply the BEST! BethAnn and her team at Studio Cake were fantastic to work with.

My husband is a Cal alumni and sure loves their school mascot, Oski. I found BethAnn after doing a Google search on "Oski + Wedding Cakes". Truthfully, I didn't think that I was going to find anything from that search but low and behold, a flickr image of Oski and Duck on a cake. My search ended right then and there.

She worked with me on brainstorming for the groom's cake (which was a surprise and consisted of all his favorite things) along with the wedding cake. The wedding cake was made to look like my wedding dress!

After months of email exchanges and minor updates, the big day arrived. BethAnn and Studio Cake DID NOT disappoint. I was blown away by the end result.

My husband couldn't believe that Oski "attended" our wedding and didn't want to cut into his cake at all.

The cakes from Studio Cake are pieces of art. Much too pretty to eat. But once you actually dig in, you can't have just one bite :)

I hope to find another occassion in the future so I can work with BethAnn and her team again.

If you want a cake that will wow the socks off your guests, BethAnn is your baker! She is extremely sweet, talented, responsive, and attentive to detail. At our very first cake tasting, she made sure to sit down with me and my fiancé to go over all the fine details of what we wanted in a cake. We were so impressed by her talent, kindness, and sincerity that we hired her without looking into any other baker – and it was one of the best decisions we made. We knew we wanted our cake, like our wedding, to both impress our guests and yet stay true to who we were by displaying a number of intimate, personal details. We expected that BethAnn was talented enough to deliver, but she went above and beyond what we could ever have dreamed of! She took close note of what we wanted and, since our wedding was fairy-tale themed, she baked us an incredible 3.5-foot-tall castle cake with sparklers to emulate the Disney fireworks show!

We were originally going to display our cake off to the side at a cake station, but since our castle cake was so stunning, we placed it right in the center of the dance floor. It truly stole the show, in all the right ways. All our guests remembered the cake and were snapping pictures of it throughout the night. They couldn’t get enough of it, and when they found out it was 100% real cake, they were even more amazed. And I’ll never forget the moment when the sparklers were set off, and I was brought back to my fiancé’s and my happy moments watching the fireworks at Disney (one of our favorite places on Earth), as well as the night he proposed to me and had small sparklers in the background (a detail which BethAnn also noted). The cake enchanted all of us, in more ways than one.

Aside from baking incredible cakes, BethAnn is also probably the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. She’s personable, takes time to listen, and is super responsive – she responded to my first email about two minutes after I’d sent it! I thought it was a one-time thing, but she responded to every other email I sent (and trust me, I had plenty of questions and concerns) within minutes and, at the very most, hours after sending it. This kind of detail and attention from someone as busy as BethAnn is rare and hard to come by in the wedding industry these days, but it gave me plenty of reassurance during a stressful planning process that was full of questions about almost every aspect but my cake.

And finally, her cake tastes delicious. BethAnn is extremely modest despite her stellar accomplishments (winning an episode of Food Network Challenge for best cake), but her cakes speak for themselves. After our first tasting, my fiancé chose one flavor he loved, but I was still looking for more because I have extremely picky tastes. BethAnn immediately arranged a second cake tasting for us, and this time I found a flavor I loved. Instead of having us choose, she made our castle cake with two flavors!

After our wedding, my fiancé and I realized we’d been so swept up in the moment that we hardly had time to examine all the fine details of our beautiful castle cake. Luckily, our friends had taken numerous pictures of the cake, and we discovered that BethAnn had included personal details of ours on the windows of the castle – from the custom design of my engagement ring to a picture of my favorite pet to a motif from our favorite memory together. She remembered every single story we told her. Looking back at all these details, and how much more magical they made our cake, brought us to happy tears and made our wedding even more special. Our wedding cake was truly the piece de resistance for our fairy-tale wedding, and it was such an effortless process all thanks to BethAnn’s talent and hard work. And because she’s so sweet, we met a great friend along the way. My fiancé and I will be ordering cakes from her now for every wedding anniversary. It’s clear that BethAnn loves what she does, and you will, too – I promise you that hiring her is a decision you won’t regret!

I was fortunate enough to come across Studio Cake as I was looking for local vendors to design our wedding cake rather than vendors near the wedding site. I had spent many hours searching on the web for the ''ideal'' cake but was having no luck finding it. Thank goodness I didn't compromise with earlier choices. Bethann was absolutely great to work with. She was very responsive from the get go, with a phone call to me as soon as she read my initial email. Once we met face to face I knew she was the perfect person to take my ''very ambiguous'' vision of what I wanted the cake to look like and turn it into reality. Her talent as an artist and technician are obvious as soon as you walk into her studio, pictures and books full of her cake designs are at your disposal, but the real deal sealer for me was her personal style and approach to the process and customer. No pressure what so ever to ''force'' a design, just some exchanges on ideas and then some drawings to look at. It was great. Another major kudo for us is her choice of cake flavors - totally unique and delicious. Since our wedding we've had people (unsolicited by us) tell us how good the cake was.

If you're looking for the whole package in a wedding cake then Studio Cake is the way to go. Bethann is great to work with in every aspect, plus she's funny - who eats cake for breakfast!? After you taste her cakes, you will want to too.

My husband and I are a long distance couple and so we play Scrabble on our mobile phones to keep us closer. On the day of our engagement, he wrote out a poem on the travel Scrabble board we take on trips and then asked me to marry him. So as you can imagine, our wedding had a Scrabble theme! I wanted to surprise him on our wedding day, so I asked BethAnn to make the groom’s cake in the shape of the Scrabble board and poem from our engagement. I could not have been more impressed by her BEAUTIFUL creation! BethAnn’s attention to detail was mind-boggling! She not only made each fondant Scrabble tile by hand but she also made all of the game accessories to decorate around the cake (the “wooden” tile holder, extra tiles and a chocolate tile bag). BethAnn had recently been working on candy bar themed cakes and since my husband’s favorite candy bar is Snickers, that’s the flavor we chose. Needless to say, we didn’t have much of the Scrabble cake left over! The heart and soul that went into our Scrabble cake was phenomenal. BethAnn’s creativity not only produced a cake that was incredible to look at but also incredible to taste! Studio Cake is simply amazing!

I should preface this by stating that many cake vendors I spoke to couldn’t think outside the (cake) box after I told them the number of guests I was planning for. That was definitely NOT BethAnn at Studio Cakes. It was an absolute pleasure working with her on the cake design. BethAnn is enthusiastic, open minded, incredibly talented, and just plain fun to work with! I already had a good idea of what I wanted the cake to look like and she listened. Cake sketches helped align us for the look of the final design. No detail was too small to review. I was SO pleased with my cake at the wedding. Everyone there just loved it!

By the way, her cake flavors were recently updated and are also fantastic. She’s very accommodating for providing samples to help you figure out the one(s) that you want. :)

Our entire wedding cake experience was wonderful, thanks to BethAnn. She has a fabulous personality and truly loves what she does. Her portfolio is extensive, with examples of all kinds of cakes: simple, creative, elaborate, detailed, one-of-a-kind, adorable and beautiful examples are all there. Our wedding cake was so beautiful and delicious. We absolutely loved it!

We love BethAnne. We already knew we liked her style and asthetics in the physical look of the cake when we were doing our research. So all was left was to meet the baker and taste the cake! We were absolutely impressed! She has such a warm and welcoming quality about her we felt right at ease. She has every flavor cake and frosting you can think of. It was not an easy process, but we narrowed it down, and loved her passionfruit frosting and ginger cake combination and went with that.

What I appreciated most and specifically with BethAnne, was that she knew specific flower names, and suggested really creative (but not over the tope) color schemes. This helped me tremendously because BethAnne was the first vendor we saw for our wedding and at that point, I had yet to commit to a color scheme or anything particular yet. I only told her over our email correspondence that I was looking for a simple summer french theme. She was very well versed in pop colors, flower suggestions - she inspired me to add lavender color to the cake and eventually that followed through to the rest of my wedding color theme!

On wedding day, I was absolutely amazed with the cake! Not surprised though :) Everyone came up to me and complemented on our beautiful cake. We knew we were going to love it so much that we ordered an additional tier to our cake and saved the top tier for our one year anniversary!

We cant wait to take it out and enjoy it again!

I loved working with BethAnn from Studio Cake on my wedding cake. From start to finish it was a wonderful and enjoyable process. I came in with an idea of what I wanted and immediately, BethAnn started sketching what she would design -- she was able to capture the cake of my dreams! Oh and cakes she makes tastes so delicious too -- I had Red Velvet and Coconut as my cakes and the guests raved about how tasty it was...many said it was best wedding cake they've ever had. I was moved when I saw my wedding cake in person, it was amazing to see it come alive from her initial sketch. My cake was perfect and more beautiful than I could've ever imagined! BethAnn is a true professional who loves what she does. Her calm and warm demeanor makes you feel comfortable working her. She is highly responsive with emails -- which I appreciated because I literally only had 3 months to plan my wedding and I could always count on her when I needed to get a hold of her!

BethAnn did a wonderful job educating us about what was possible. We then let our imaginations go wild. Together we designed a unique and wonderfully elegant cake. Then Studio Cake took it to the next level and the final product was better than anything we could have imagined. Everything was in excellent condition and on time. The cake tasted wonderful and our guests told us afterward how much they enjoyed it.

Working with Bethann to design our wedding cake was by far the best part of wedding planning. And aside from the actual act of getting married, the cake itself was my favorite part of the day. Bethann's passion for what she does is infectious, and carries through in her warmth and enthusiasm when working with clients. We met with her to discuss cake, and an hour later, were discussing engineering and literature.

We had extremely vague and incongruous ideas about our cake design, and somehow, Bethann created exactly the cake we wanted, without us knowing what we wanted. Beyond that, the cake was unbelievably delicious. It went very quickly at the reception, and everyone absolutely loved it.

I can't recommend Bethann and Studio Cake highly enough.

My first appointment with BethAnn was over a year before my wedding, but to my husband and I the cake was one of the most if not the most important part of our special day. BethAnn warmly welcomed us into her home (before her shop was built) and had the best red velvet cake and a tasty tropical cake (ginger cake with passionfruit frosting). I had a design in mind, and BethAnn went with it! =) She would always respond to my questions in a reasonable amount of time throughout the year and was definitely able to work with our budget! And when the final day came, the cake was just as I had pictured it, and everyone got a nice BIG slice of cake, just like BethAnn would want it (us too). BethAnn/Studio Cake was such a big part of our special day... we can't wait until we order our first anniversary cake...so excited!

We LOVED BethAnn! She is fun, responsible, and creative. Her cakes are never frozen and we were able to do two tastings before we decided on our flavors. She made our bride's and groom's cakes, and they were exactly what we wanted.

There was so many choices of creating the cake. The cost of the cake was very good and the little kids loved it! Came on time and it was my dream cake for my wedding.

BethAnn is a cake artist. Her cakes are not only tasty, but amazingly constructed. I initially had a hard time in contacting bakeries for my wedding cake. They did not respond to emails or calls very promptly. When I emailed Studio Cake, BethAnn responded immediately and we set up an appointment. She prepared many delicious samples for me upon our first meeting and we had lengthy discussions about our love of cake. One very unique element to Studio Cake, is that BethAnn creates beautiful sketches of her designs for you to chose from. We went back and forth over email to decide on a lovely design. However, it was after a second meeting and tasting, of course, that BethAnn and I agreed upon the perfect cake. On the day of the wedding, I was delighted to see and taste the best and most beautiful wedding cake ever, created and delivered by BethAnn herself. She is hands down terrific and I would book her again in a heart beat.

Working with Beth-Ann and creating the whimsical under the sea cake for my recent clients was a blast! She is super responsive, flexible, and her cakes taste delicious! The fondant work was flawless, the custom made topper was carefully hand painted. Delivery was on time and the cake was handled with care!

What can I say, Bethanne is one of my favorite cake designers. She is timely, professional but most of all incredible at what she does. She is also a very kind, bubbly and FUN person with a creative and beautiful imagination! The cakes TASTE incredible as well, which is no easy feat when you see the unbelievable designs she comes up with.
