Studio One Photography and Video

The location of Studio One that we used (Palatine) has disbanded. There are a few other Studio-One locations. We loved Studio One. They helped us every step of the way. Studio One gave us a checklist to be sure they took all the pictures we wanted. Our photographer was very sensitive to my parents, who are divorced so that no one felt at all uncomfortable or isolated. The picture and album packages were generous and my album is the envy of several of my friends who were unable to book with Studio One.

We hired Studio One Photography for our wedding day. I am a little disappointed with our pictures. The pictures we have look great with some amazing outdoor portraits. But almost all of the pictures are posed and unimaginative. I would have liked more pictures of our friends during the cocktail hour and dancing at the reception. They were reasonably priced and the quality is fine, just overall nothing spectacular.

I chose Studio One because they had the most reasonable price I could find in the area. The photographer was very hands-on at the wedding; she directed everyone where and how to stand, and where and how to look. Subsequently, the pictures came out beautifully. She used different techniques to get different styles of pictures. She took many different poses which gave us a wide variety of styles and pictures from which to choose. Additionally, she worked very quickly and stayed on task to keep everyone moving. Our wedding album was completed within days and looked great, as well. After seeing pictures from weddings who used a different photographer, I would use Studio One every time!

Definitely the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for. Many of our pictures were taken from weird angles, or had weird lighting where someone ended up completely in shadows or with an odd glare or with part of their heads missing. Even so, we went through the proofs and picked out a pretty decent album, in theory. Except they messed up the order of the pictures and put the wrong pictures in several of the pages. I don't know why they thought I would want the exact same picture on consecutive pages, but that's what I got. I called and they were very receptive to my complaints but could not figure out which pictures were supposed to have been ordered. I went through the paperwork (definitely save it) and listed off which pictures I was supposed to get. They sent me the wrong pictures. After doing this 3 times, I finally got the right pictures a little over a year later. I also got some large pictures where the bridal party had bright red eyes (you couldn't tell in the proofs because they were so small). Again, the company was very receptive to my complaints and fixed the issue.
After the wedding, when my sister-in-law found out what company I'd gone with, she said, "If I'd known you were going with Studio One, I would have warned you." I still give the vendor 3 stars, because they were definitely the cheapest, I got several good pictures, and I ultimately got what I ordered.

For our son and daughter-in-laws wedding in August 2005, the photographer from Studio One was one of the most unprofessional people I've ever come across who was hired (paid) to do a job at a very special event (a wedding) and did nothing but complain. It was an outdoor wedding and very hot...ALL of us were hot, all of us dressed in our finest were hot, we didn't need to be reminded conStanTly by the photographer as to how hot it was. As far as I'm concerned he was hired (paid) to do a job, so do it as best and professionally as you can. He was unprofessional, crabby, and was not directing the flow of pictures smoothly. Fortunately, I asked our videographer to take some pictures with his video camera and I'm grateful he willingly did because those are the only pictures I have of the wedding other than candid ones friends and family took. Very disappointing and not recommended at all, no matter what the price.
