Sugar and Spice Specialty Desserts

Sugar and Spice was the was the cherry on top of our sundae at our wedding at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. We didn't want a cake, and rather did a dessert bar with 7 different items. It was fabulous and all our guests raved about the desserts in taste and presentation. It was soooo pretty!!!!!!! Carissa, the owner, is awesome!!! When you do your tasting make sure you don't eat sweets a week prior to your date because she will fill you up and give you plenty of options. She worked with our budget down to the final dollar. She's super fun to work with and had worked with our caterer before, so are wedding went fabulously smooth. And, she gave me a little blood sugar boost right before I went down the aisle to make sure I didn't pass out. I recommend Sugar and Spice for any event...they helped make an amazing wedding reception for my husband and I and even sent us on our honeymoon with a goody box!!! What more could you ask for!

What an amazing way to change up the traditional tiered wedding cake! Carissa designed a whole array of our favorite dessert flavors into delicious and attractive little bites that wowed EVERYONE in attendance! The sweetheart cake was to die for! I have never been to a wedding where the cake/dessert actually tasted good and with Sugar and Spice, our wedding dessert rocked!

My cake was beautiful! It tasted delicious! I couldn't be more happier with choosing Carissa! From the moment we met her with her many choices, my then-fiance and I were stunned at the fact that she let us "make" our own cake! We chose the cake, the fillings, everything and it tasted so good! We had so many compliments about the cake, they couldn't get enough! We couldn't get enough as well! We tried to save the top of our cake, but so many people wanted seconds the day after, it was gone the next day! We were stunned when we saw the cake at the reception, but since the day we met her and chose our cakes, my now-husband couldn't stop talking about the cake and couldn't wait to eat it! Thank you Carissa for all that you've done, I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. There were several people asking about her, and didn't hesitate to pass on her information. :)

Carissa is AMAZING!!! The cake turned out exactly we discussed. She is very professional and sent me drawings of the cake ahead of time. She really went above and beyond to make our cake perfect. I plan on using Carissa and Sugar and Spice for future events. I will recommend Sugar and Spice to friends and others looking for excellent service and yummy desserts.

Carissa was awesome! The tastings were amazing and she came up with really different and exciting flavors. The cake was excellent quality and beautiful. i even asked for an extra cupcake as a birthday surprise for a guest, and she sent a small cake instead! It was such a pleasure to work with her!

Carissa of Sugar and Spice provided a beautiful dessert bar and small wedding cake for our daughter's wedding. It consisted of 9 different desserts - it was beautiful as well as delicious as our guests commented. The facility said it was the best dessert bar they had seen. Carissa was there herself to set up and as well as serve and take down. We were very impressed with her professionalism and talent as a baker. When we said we would freeze a piece of the cake for the first wedding anniversary she said to come back to her and she will furnish another one fresh! We highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for a truly beautiful dessert bar!

When we met with Carissa for our tasting we were so excited. Her presentation and all of her options were amazing and we couldn't wait to taste our wedding cake. When we walked into the reception hall and saw the cake we were flabbergasted. It was NOTHING like we had discussed. The outside looked like it had been made by an amateur baker who made their first wedding cake. Not only did the cake look terrible, but it seemed dry and stale. The only reason I am giving Sugar and Spice higher than a 1 is because Carissa seemed so nice and professional. But clearly that is not enough. We were so excited about our cake and could not have been more disappointed.

Carissa was outstanding! She was easy to work with, eager to please, and her desserts were wonderful. She had no problem making a couple specialty items for guests that couldn't have gluten or sugar. I have had a number of guests tell me the chocolate tulip cups were the best dessert they've ever had at a wedding. highly recommended!

Carissa did an awesome job for us! I needed to change my cake size a couple weeks before the wedding and she accommodated us with no problem! The cake was beautiful and everybody commented on how delicious it was! Great services and great prices compared to what i've heard from friends!

Carissa is very involved with the entire process and was almost like having a wedding planner. Carissa was hands on from the planning of the desserts all the way to the wedding itself. she made the best desserts and our cake was what we hoped for!

Carissa was probably my favorite vendor to work with during the planning of our wedding. In finding vendors for our wedding we often times met with two to three companies/individuals, however, Carissa's website was so professional, and had such a personal element we just met with her alone. After meeting with Carissa I was truly impressed by her professionalism, her kind demeanor, and her thoroughness. Carissa loves what she does, and that is undeniable. She is very flexible, and very creative. She does not work off of a menu, so we basically came up with our own cake. The cake was very good, and I was so happy with the design. I would recommend bringing other individuals to taste the cake (it was just myself and my husband tasting), and bring in pictures of what you have in mind for the design.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Carrisa. We had a variety of specialtiy desserts in addition to wedding cake. The desserts were the best, her service is outstanding. I would definately use her again.

Our wedding cake was so unique! She was made an amazing spice cake with green apples and sweet carmel that was out of this world! The calculator she made for my husband's grooms cake matched the picture I gave her to the button!

Carissa's work is amazing. Your cake is completely custom and yours alone from the fillings to the outside designs. Every other baker we looked at had a standard small set of choices and designs, with Carissa anything goes. We had a dessert buffet and wedding cake and it was so beautiful and great tasting too.

We loved working with Carissa. She was so professional and made everything super easy. Everything was absolutely delicious!! I did ask for a Dairy Free cupcake for one of my guests and she was happy to oblige, but when the time came, no one knew anything about a dairy free cupcake. Other than that, I would recommenf Carissa to anyone and everyone!!

Sugar and Spice and ... catered the dessert at my wedding in Camino, Ca east of Placerville. They created mini desserts including lemon tartlers with meringue and rasberries, mini creme brulees in individual ramikans, salted carmel chocolate tartlets, and a small ceremonial wedding cake for the cutting ceremony. The mini desserts were a delicious and beautiful, unique alternative to traditional wedding cake. My guests all gave rave reviews and ate every last yummy bite!

Sugar and Spice was suggested to us by our wedding caterer. We are SO THANKFUL that we listened to him. Carissa Jones, owner of Sugar and Spice, is so personable and it comes out even in e-mail communication. She works collaboratively with her clients and is very supportive of the clients' ideas, but also honest about what will work and not work. Carissa wants to make sure you love how your cake looks AND tastes.

We met Carissa at her home, with my mom and friend in tow, for our tasting. Her cakes, butter cream frosting and fillings are AMAZING. She spent a lot of time with us that day to ensure we tried all combinations possible before making our final decision. I'm already thinking about what she can create for our one year wedding anniversary. Carissa called me the day before our wedding to ask if she could freeze the wedding cake 4 hours prior to bringing it the wedding site, since she realized that the temperature was going to be in the high 90's for our 2pm outside wedding. I was so appreciative that she called with a plan to help preserve the butter cream frosting as best possible.

We could not have asked for a better person to work with, nor a better tasting cake. It looked wonderful and just the way we planned. Carissa is a true professional with talents and creativity galore. She is so much fun to work with and is very good with communication. Our guests LOVED the cake and still talk about it now.

My husband and I really enjoyed working with Carissa. She helped make our wedding day vision come to life. We liked that she was willing to go outside the box and do really creative little desserts rather than one big wedding cake. My husband especially liked his custom Metallica grooms cake that she designed for our rehearsal dinner.

Carissa and her staff were utterly amazing. They created an awesome dessert bar for a 30th birthday bash I held at my residence. Carissa was so responsive and flexible with creating our dessert bar. She let me change a few things a couple weeks before the party which was really nice. The quality of desserts was over the top. You know me... the oldest living caterer in the area. I have cut so many wedding cakes over the years. Some were stellar, many were mediocre and thousands were downright scary.

The cake you did for Frank and Julene was beautiful, inviting and unbelievably tasty. I was knocked out when I cut into it and discovered that inside was a treasure trove of blended textures and flavors.
This is one of the only times I have ever been blown away enough to actually post a comment.

Just go over to the shop, meet Carissa, and see/taste for yourself. Her darling little boutique bakery consistently turns out wedding cakes and treats that that are not only incredibly yummy (we need a new word), but SO darn cute!! Try her Cream Horns. And get an extra one for The Dove Lady. :)
