I honestly wanted to use a local (Brooklyn) baker for convenience, and obviously one that was not a complete rip off. I did everything with Marisa via email, and she did a phenominal job.

Once Upon a time in a city named Brooklyn, a little girl named Marisa decorated gingerbread houses every year as a Holiday tradition. She patiently watched as her best friends mom Linda, prepared the dough, gently cut the pieces, and carefully constructed the houses. Marisa dreamed that one day she wanted to give this JOY to others the same way it was given to her.
After graduating with a Business degree from Saint John's University, Marisa enrolled herself in the Institute of Culinary Education. There she received a degree in Pastry and Baking Arts. Marisa's vision came true when Sugar Coated was established in 2004. Now Chef Marisa is living her dream hard at work in the kitchen of Sugar Coated.
Marisa has studied the art of cake decorating with Award winning Chefs Colette Peters, Toba Garrett, and Cheryl Kleinman. She has taught baking classes at Families First in Park Slope Brooklyn, and The Little Cup Cake Bake Shop in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Marisa also has experience providing private baking, cooking, and cake decorating classes.
Sugar Coated is a bakery boutique that offers decorative cookies and desserts, novelty and wedding cakes, gingerbread houses, cupcakes and Baking Classes. They specialize in teaching the art of baking and sharing their love of decorating to all ages. A variety of classes is offered for beginners to the culinary connoisseur . Birthday parties and groups are offered a variety of classes. Whether it's making cookies from scratch, decorating cupcakes or cooking a meal from start to finish, Sugar Coated Classes are designed to bring out the master chef in all of us.

Delivery Charge
Starting at $30.00 within the Tri-sate area. Out of area charges will be determined by location, size of cakes, and set-up.
Each cake is created by working one on one with Cake designer Marisa Bove. Cakes differ in complexity of design and hours of artwork. Marisa works closely to accomplish maximum impact within the designated budget. Their Commission is determined by the size of the cake and the complexity of the design. All of their cakes are hand made.
PACKAGING
Cookies: Cookies come wrapped in a cellophane bag with matching ribbon & tissue paper.
Boxed Cookies: Cookies are presented in a box with visible lid and are wrapped with tissue paper and ribbon. Cookies may also be order with a decorative platter or seasonal tin.
Brownies/Rice Krispies/GourmetCookies: Individually wrapped in cellophane for maximum freshness. Or can be presented in a box with visible top and wrapped with tissue paper and ribbon.
Cupcakes: Cupcakes come carefully packaged in individual holders ready to be put on display. (Serving platters & Cup cake tiers available with deposit).
Specialty Cakes: Cakes may be picked up at our studio or delivered to ensure proper handling. (Delivery Charges will be added on at time of purchase).
