Cupcakes are the way to go - we had 5 varieties at our wedding and it was much more fun than a wedding cake. You can't beat the price here, and they are the best cupcakes in NYC.

We loved working with Peggy at Sugar Sweet Sunshine! It was one of the most fun parts of our entire wedding planning process. We opted for a "dessert buffet" table instead of a traditional wedding cake, and it was a huge hit. Peggy helped us tremendously with deciding on cake flavors and other desserts, quantities, etc. (The tasting portion of things was definitely the best!) She was easy to work with, totally on top of everything, completely organized, and had no trouble keeping track of all of our choices along the way, which changed several times. She even made special provisions for our niece who has a very serious nut allergy. Day-of, the bakery delivered everything to our venue with plenty of time to spare, and the guests are still talking about how delicious everything was. Sugar Sweet Sunshine's cakes/pies/other desserts are simple yet taste incredible! Value-wise, we came in at about half of what a more traditional wedding cake would have cost us. And this was way more fun, anyway! We'll definitely be returning for our future dessert needs :)

Sugar Sweet Sunshine was the perfect bakery for us. The owners are extremely helpful and responsive. The cake is baked fresh the day of the event and the management personally takes care of your needs. Our cake was the softest and freshest I had ever had. We received all positive feedback from our guests. I will use Sugar Sweet Sunshine for any event in the future. I highly recommend them if you want a personal experience without all the hub bub and waiting that comes with using a rock star bakery. At first I wanted to use Magnolia Bakery because of their name in NYC, but Sugar Sweet Sunshine far surpassed them in service, affordability and quality!

We had Sugar Sweet Sunshine provide a cupcake tower and cutting cake for our wedding. The cupcakes were delicious and totally affordable - I tested out several other more expensive bakeries, but theirs were definitely the best. They offered lots of different flavor options and worked with us to achieve the visual look we were going for for our day - I was worried that because they were so affordable, they wouldn't take as much care with the appearance of the cupcakes/cake, but that was definitely not the case. I would definitely use SSS again and highly recommend them.

We had cupcakes and a cake for cutting from Sugar Sweet Sunshine and they were wonderful! Amazing taste, not dry, and the variety is great. Deb is great to work with, and the bakery itself is worth a trip to, even if you're not looking for a wedding cake/cupcakes!

Working with Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery was the funnest part of our wedding planning.We loved Peggy's ideas and she worked with us to design an amazing cake.Not only was out cake delicious but very affordable and and we had many options that where within our budget.

I have to first off say that the cake was YUMMY - all of my guests loved it. Just a plain buttercream 3 tiered vanilla cake. I didn't opt for the cupcake 'tree' as I wanted a cake that would look like a mountain (i had a skiing bride and groom on top). I should also mention that I really wasn't picky about perfection, so on the wedding day when I got the call that the cake was a bit lopsided (which Deb had told me might happen due to weight of the buttercream), I laughed it off. Wedding cakes aren't their main area of expertise. She was so sweet and so much more concerned that I was, and had a back up plan for me that I didn't want. I wanted that mountain of cake, crooked or not!!
We had a bunch of slices leftover that guests took home in cute cake boxes I had ordered, and people told me the cake was still delicious and moist several days later. I can't wait to dig into ours on our first anniversary :-)
note: they do close the store for a while in January (and don't announce it), so don't be alarmed if you don't hear back from them right away - took them a few weeks to get back to me but I'm happy I didn't book anyone else!

Peggy from Sugar Sweet Sunshine was awesome! She was super flexible and was willing to do whatever we wanted. The cupcakes were amazing and everyone seemed to love them! I only wish we had gotten to taste them! Whoops! Luckily SSS is right down the street from us so we'll have to pop in and pick some up! I would highly recommend their cupcakes for a wedding~ delicious and a big hit!

Peggy was very easy to work with. We had a cupcake tree with a larger cupcake to cut. Everything was hand delivered to our venue the day of our wedding and the guests absolutely loved the cupcakes.

My husband and I didn't want to drop a ton of money on a wedding cake, so we decided to look into cupcakes. After tasting more than 5 of the top rated cupcake bakeries in NYC, Sugar Sweet was the clear winner. They were delicious, had many different flavor options, low cost and the guests adored them. We also got a cake topper to go on top of the tier.

If one is looking for a no frills great tasting butter cream cake this is the place to go. They were able to create a very cute three tier cake and make it taste like their wonderful gooey cupcakes. This is the ONLY place I know that were able to keep it simple, not charge a ton, and cared more about the fact that it tasted awesome instead of looking perfect. They were even able to keep the wedding colors in theme with their out of this world pistachio cake! Who on earth likes fondant anyway? Pass on the sugar sweet sunshine!
