Reviews for Susana Capra
I did not have a good experience with Susana. Her inital quote was $200 to take in at the sides, hem and bustle. Then she added $50 to press (total of $250). I told her that I'll press it myself to save $50. She refused to discount because she said she will have to press it anyway as she sews. so why is she charging me if she would do it anyway?
So I go in for my 1st fitting and the dress was a little loose and long. The bustle looked horrible!!! She did a one point under bustle. I complained that I didn't like the bustle but she just kept insisting that you just have to play around with it for pictures, but all bustles get messy anyway because you move around, so she refused to redo it.
I told her the dress was too loose, but instead of fixing the dress, she tightened the strap inside the dress to just hold onto me tighter, but that doesn't change the fit or look of the dress. The hem was also half an inch too long, so my dress was dragging, but she insisted that all dresses do that anyway.
She had an excuse for everything and didn't want to fix anything for me. She was leaving for vacation a week from when I picked up my dress and she still had 17 dresses to work on, so she really just wanted me out.
I would not reccomend her at all. She didn't even finish closing up the side seam that she undid. I ended up having to redo the bustle myself and taking in the bodice myself 2 weeks before the wedding. And I had to get taller heels because the length was just too long.
overall, susana does a good job, but is quite busy.
my wedding dress was a watters 6043B, a strapless sweetheart lace dress that is fitted but then flares out. for $250, susana put in front pickups, 2 french bustles, 1 large english bustle, and took it in along the side. i paid $100 up front, and $150 at the end. make sure that she writes down everything that you discuss. she alters ALOT of wedding dresses.
i got my dress in april, and had it altered in may for my september wedding. after i tried it on a few more times at home, i realized it was difficult to walk in because the inner layer of the dress was too long. i ended up hemming it myself (took 5-10 mins on my sewing machine) because nobody would ever see it.
at the wedding i was really comfortable. the dress stayed up with no problems and looked great on me. :)
I had a great experience with Susana.
I took my dress to Susana so she could do my bustle. I complained to her that I did not like the way the top of my dress looked, but that I knew there was nothing I could do about it. She told me that everything was fixable.
When I went for my second fitting my dress fit perfect from the top and the bustle was amazing! There was no need for another fitting, I took my dress home that day! She gave me a great price, too.
