At the very last minute, I was able to book Susie (based on the recs of PW) for my wedding. Fortunately she was able to accommodate me and my bridesmaids 75 minutes out of town at literally the break of dawn. Since we did not have a trial run nor spoke on the phone, I met Susie and her team for the first time that morning. They got to our hotel in a punctual manner and quickly started setting up their workspaces. Susie and her team were very friendly and worked diligently. If I wanted to change something, she willingly obliged. We were able to achieve the look I wanted for myself, my bridesmaids and flower girls. Susie's work is excellent for her affordable price. The only thing I noticed was that my already oily face became more oily as the day went on which I didn't expect but I had blotting papers so it was alright. This could've probably been prevented with a trial run. Either way, if your a bride with a budget, check Susie and her team out.

Susie was great to work with! I used her services for wedding day, trash the dress/trial, as well as boudoir. She is so sweet, gives ample suggestions and feedback, and was very affordable! We went through a few looks and trials - and she dealt with my fear of too much makeup - until I was happy. I booked her for myself as well as my mom and a few bridesmaids. Everyone looked gorgeous and was very happy with her and her team's services! She was also very accommodating - I had a lot of hair/makeup service requests from family guests after they were done with the bridal party, and she was able to provide her services to as many as she could. =) I have a picky family when it comes to makeup - and they've never been happier with wedding makeup.

SUSIE IS INCREDIBLE!!! Not only is she an incredibly talented professional, but she's a great person. We had 2 hours to get ready for an 11am wedding and she and her assistant were calm and able to breeze through my hair and makeup as well as 2 bridesmaids and my Mother without batting an eyelash. Everyone looked amazing and I'm still getting compliments on my hair & makeup from that day. Everyone who worked with them were happy. Susie was so friendly at the trial that I was hesitant to make any adjustments, however, she is an absolute perfectionist and took my subtle notes and ran with them. My hair & makeup on the day of the wedding was STUNNING and even better than I could have imagined. Thank you Susie for your amazing talent, sweet personality, and on top of all of that, THE MOST REASONABLE PRICES I COULD FIND IN LA! BOOK HER WHILE SHE'S STILL AFFORDABLE!

PS, I also want to mention that Susie's makeup felt very light, in fact I forgot I was wearing it and it stayed on perfectly all day. She also gave me a great little touch-up kit that I didn't end up needing until the honeymoon ;-) ...also, she's the first hair person that's understood how to work with my crazy curly hair.

Susie has the best personality and is very professional, attentive, and AFFORDABLE.

I had a hair & makeup trial with her and, though I loved her personality, I was not happy with either my makeup or hair. She's just starting out in the wedding business so some of her technique is still shaky. She did an amazing job of giving me flawless looking skin but she taped my eyes crookedly and cut off a chunk of my real lashes when she was trimming the false lashes. When I emailed her about this she offered a solution but never came through.
I brought pictures of the hair style I wanted and she had a hard time replicating it. It turned out sloppy and looked like something I attempted myself.

All in all, you get what you pay for. Her pricing is very reasonable so give her a try as she is a sweetheart & really listens to your concerns. She keeps you informed about what she's doing throughout the trial and welcomes feedback. She has probably done a lot more trials by now and so has probably improved her skills.

i trusted my gut instinct and hired Susie to do my makeup+hair for my engagement photo shoot without a trial session as i'm from the bay area but our shoot was in SoCal...and proved to myself that my gut instinct is right again!!! Susie is too AWESOME for words! she was attentive from the time i sent in my inquiry until i left her studio with impeccable makeup + hair. she listened to all of my concerns and what i wanted for my "look" and the end results were exactly what i had hoped for! she and i clicked from the get-go which made me feel comfortable for the whole session. i had to trust Susie's work from what i saw on her website & blog and she totally exceeded my expectations. i'm so very grateful to Susie for squeezing me in on a very hectic day, making me look & feel beautiful, and helping me to become even more excited for our engagement shoot!!

Since Susie was booked, one of her makeup artists Sunny did my hair and makeup for my trash the dress session. It took about 2 hours which I expected and I looked beautiful. I had such a great time with Sunny who made me feel at home. My face was flawless and smooth. My makeup lasted throught the photo shoot at the beach. I do recommend that you bring your own touch up lipstick or gloss since it will come off after a while. I brought my own so it worked out. Susie tried really hard to find one of her girls since I booked them last minute. Thanks!

My apologies on my late review. But I had a complimentary make-up session around winter of last year with Susie, and she was wonderful. I like how her make up enhances your features and natural beauty. Her makeup felt so light that it didn't feel like you had any on. She is one vendor that I can trust and recommend to other brides.

Susie is awesome! Affordable, timely, and great at what she does. After our initial meeting, she listened to all of my change requests, and implemented them on the day of the wedding. I asked for a natural look, and she did just that. She also made my mom very happy with her hairdo (a rarity, since she hates her curly hair!). My hair and makeup looked great for many hours. =)

Susie and her team did my hair and makeup, as well as my bridesmaids', for my wedding. I can't say enough good things about Susie, My hair and makeup looked amazing. The girls looked fabulous, too. We received tons of comments about how great we all looked. What I really liked was that Susie listened to what I wanted. Everyone said how classy and elegant our hair and makeup looked. We looked "made" up, but not in a way that made us look like ribbon on a package! Susie is very professional. She and her team arrived slightly early so they could set up. They had us all ready by the time the coordinator instructed them. I can't recommend Susie enough!

I just had my trial session with Susie the other day and I am very happy with the results and the experience. Susie was such a pleasure to work with, she let me ask all my crazy questions and she worked with what I wanted. Lots of times with hair and makeup I feel like you don't get to give your input and you end up with something you don't want. Susie was exactly the opposite, she wanted me to really enjoy the end result and to have it be exactly what I wanted. She also seems very relaxed and like she can deal with stressful situations (and people..haha!) very well. Her prices are very reasonable without sacrificing any quality.

I will be using her on my wedding day so I will write another review after that! I'm looking forward to her helping me make it a really special day!

I just had my wedding this past Sunday and I can't say it enough...I LOVE SUSIE!!! She was one of my favorite venders. She was so calm and relaxed and tried to keep me that way too. She arrived early and she and her assistant were very professional. She even was able to accomodate an add on service the day of. I loved my hair and makeup, I didn't have any problems with it coming off or messing up. It was very HOT for the outdoor ceremony but I think it still stayed amazing (or maybe I was having too much fun to notice :) ) But I would reccomend Susie over and over again.

Additionally Susie did hair and makeup for the Moms, my sister and one bridesmaid. Both my sister and bridesmaids LOVED the way everything came out which is saying a lot because they they are definitely in the category of girls that never are happy with bridesmaid hair and makeup. I was happy that Susie was able to please them and I thought they looked amazing!!

I hope I have another opportunity to use her services again in the future. There is absolutely no need to spend more money elsewhere...SUSIE IS AWESOME!!

Susie was extremely professional, patient and talented. My daughter's wedding was planned via wedding websites and reviews like this... and we were so fortunate to find Susie. Even when my daughter, one week before the wedding "freaked" because she wasn't thrilled with the trial hair outcome (hair to short for the natural, beachy low bun that she had envisioned), Susie came through with a perfect hair style that exceeded her expectations. She did make up for the maids of honor, the MOB (me) and hair and makeup for the bride. and everything was natural and understated but with an elegant beautiful outcome. My daughter's step daughter- the flower girl, had appropriate "sparkles" and hair for an almost 4 year old. To say that I am happy with our choice of Susie is an understatement. The final cost included tips and 2 trial sessions-$600!All in all, great value!

I cant say enough wonderful things about Susie. She was such a pleasure to work with and did an amazing job on my wedding day. When we did my trial we had started with a low side pony but on the actual day ichanged my mind and it didnt seem to phase her at all. She made me look amazing! Susie Chhuor did hair & makeup for me and my bridal party last week for my wedding. Her work is amazing! Don't let her looks fool you. Although she looks young, she is very professional and experienced in both glamour, photo-shoot makeup as well as bridal makeup. Susie was amazing. She was very helpful being that I was unsure of what I wanted to do for my wedding. I found Susie Chhuor through an online search while looking for someone to do my hair and makeup for my wedding. I compared several companies in the Los Angeles area who had reasonable rates. I booked an appointment for a trial run with Jackie Jang. Before I went in, Susie asked me to email pictures of what kind of makeup and hair I wanted. I chose a sexy messy updo and Asian movie star look and I absolutely LOVED the results.

At my wedding at Castle Green Hotel in Pasadena, I had Jackie and her assistant work on location on four of my bridesmaids' hair and my mother's makeup. My bridesmaid's nationalities ranged from Filipino to Caucasian to African American, and they all had curly hair, in contrast to my straight long black hair. That is quite a range! Jackie and her assistant were incredibly versatile and were able to make everyone look AMAZING!

Susie Chhuor was very professional and upfront about all costs (it's posted on their website), so you don't have to worry about unexpected bills. Susie was very good about confirming everything that I wanted done and was prompt at responding to emails in case you have any questions.

On the day of my wedding, Jackie suggested putting white flowers in my hair because I didn't want a tiara and she was absolutely right to suggest it. The flowers worked beautifully. I received so many compliments on my hair and makeup all day and for weeks afterwards! It all looked GORGEOUS! The hair and makeup lasted all night, well into the ten o'clock hour. Our wedding was the best party of my life. I highly recommend Susie Chhuor and Jackie to anyone who wants to look great for their special event without any worries or hesitation.

I was not happy with either my makeup or hair. I went with susie for a trial couple months ago based on the reviews of PW and because of her affordable price. The makeup didnt last!!! My fiance said the foundation is thick. My already oily face became oilier after the trail session as the day went on!!! It went out OK in the trail though. Her rate is definitely affordable, but you really get what you pay. She is very friendly, but I just think she needs to IMPROVE on her work!!!

So I am a very picky person when it comes to makeup. I've gotten by makeup done at other places for twice the price of what Susie charges and never fully was satisfied with the work. But first and foremost, Susie is very professional and also very polite. She informed me of every product that she used on me and also was extremely gentle. She let me know what she was doing which I really appreciated because in the past, I've had makeup "artists" just cake on makeup on me without letting me know how dark they were filling in my brows.
Susie also gave me very helpful skin advice. She asked me what face products I was using and explained why my skin was so dry and what changes I could make in producing healthier skin which would enhance my makeup.
She seemed to be very knowledgeable and also a down-to-earth, sweet person.I didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable at all and have received numerous compliments about my makeup from those who saw me that night and who have seen pictures.
I definitely recommend her! Prices are affordable, service is AMAZING, & makeup is professional!

Susie did my make-up for both engagment session and wedding. She did such a wonderful job and made me feel completely at ease. She was amazing! She is young and has a great business so good for her! I had an amazing wedding but there were a couple of things here and there from my vendors that I was unhappy with; Susie was the only vendor that I was 100% happy with. I looked B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L on my special day......everyone could not stop talking about it! She did an amazing job with my hair and makeup, I am still getting compliments on it through my pictures now. She was even able to do my moms hair and makeup last min. and work with new found wedding tan. I am so happy I picked Susie to do my hair and makeup for my wedding.

Susie is Great and her team is also amazing! Susie did my hair and make-up, and her team worked on my mom, MOH and two bridesmaids. All of my girls looked beautiful. Susie and her team were AMAZING! I received so many compliments on my hair and make up! Also, I ended up crying like a big baby the whole night and my make up never ran at all! It looked just as good at 1045 as it did when she finished at 4:00. Her prices were very reasonable, 200 for the bride 100 for everyone else for both hair and make up.
My bridemaids and my and my husbands moms were totally satisfied, we could not have asked for more professional and friendly services.
I changed my mind about 100 times and Susie was so patient and helpful. Everything turned out beautiful, I highly recommend. :)

Susie is so awesome! I went for a trial session for my wedding and she nailed the look the first time. On my wedding day, my skin was freaking out and she knew exactly what to do to help me. On a lot of brides she does a more natural look, but I wanted high drama and she was able to give me the big hair and smoky eyes that I loved. She can definitely do ANY look! She even helped me to make a beautiful flower hair accessory that looked amazing in my pictures. I went with susie for a trial couple month ago because of her affordable price, but I was not happy with how my makeup turned out. i ask for a natural makeup, but the foundation that she use is very thick and i feel very cakey. She is very nice, but I just think she needs to improve on her work.

Susie had done my hair and makeup for an engagement session. I was actually really pleased with her work. Because she was busy in the afternoon the appointment was pretty early in the morning. I was concerned that the makeup and hair would not last until the engagement session or through the end of it. But to my pleasant surprise it lasted until the end of the day and the pictures turned out great. She was really nice and pleasant to work with. I don't normally wear makeup and so I asked for a very natural look, for her to be very minimal in what she used. She made sure that I was comfortable with the work she was doing and asked me throughout the session if I liked what she was doing. On top of all that she is very affordable. I recently used Susie's makeup and hair services for my wedding. Not only were they extremely professional, she and her assistant (Sunny) were both very talented and had great personalities. I was living in New York while planning for my Los Angeles wedding, so I first found Susie through the Internet. Not only were the pictures on her website impressive, I was also comforted by all the positive reviews from previous brides who had used her. From the very beginning, Susie was accessible via phone/email and I never once felt nervous booking her even though I was 3000 miles away. During the trial, she was great about listening to what I wanted, while letting me know her professional opinion; however, I never once felt pressured to give in to what she wanted. On the day of the actual wedding, Susie and Sunny were both an hour early and were quick to get everything set up even though things in my suite were very hectic and there were people milling in and out. I loved how Susie did my hair and makeup and felt completely at ease the entire time - I felt like I looked like a better version of myself :) I was more than happy with her work. Most notably, Sunny did a great job on my mother-in-law, who was very apprehensive about what to do with her hair. Not only was Sunny able to put her at ease, she did a great job and my MIL looked great. One of the main things that I look for in a makeup artist and hairstylist is reliability. Susie is absolutely fantastic. I had my first trial session with Susie about 2 weeks prior to my wedding. She did such an amazing job and I absolutely loved the results. The hairstyle I chose ended up not working with my face, and she made suggestions for something that would go great. I loved it! I stuck with her suggestion.

I am not the type of person to ever wear makeup so I did not want anything to crazy. I did not want to feel like I had a cake of makeup on me. Susie used products that didn't make me feel like that, and she still made me look amazing. She was such a great help and did a great job. I would definitely recommend her to anyone else. I used Susie for my Trash Your Dress session in March. She did a wonderful job and helped me with very natural looking makeup. She makes every effort to make you feel comfortable and she is detailed and meticulous.

I wish I had used her for my real wedding day! She gave me a touchup kit to take with me to my shoot (which my person on my wedding day didn't even do!) She did a great job on my hair, used great makeup products and my husband couldn't stop staring at me all day! I am definitely considering her for any upcoming special events I have (plus she's only 2 miles away from me).

The bonus too of course is that her prices are very reasonable, compared to the others out there. You don't have to pay a fortune to have quality work done!

I found Susie online and met with her 2 months prior to my wedding for our consultation. From our first meeting I was totally comfortable with her and just knew she would make me look amazing. She is really good on responding to my many emails and that was so appreciated since I was planning my own wedding and was really stressed.

The day of my wedding she was prompt and brought two assistants who were also great, I will never forget the feeling I had seeing my mom get pampered and wow did she look beautiful! I also had my maid of honor and one bridesmaid get make-up & hair and they looked great.

Everything went pretty well, except a little bump. When I did my trial in Susie's Office, we talked to Susie about adding a fake orchid in the hair. Susie put down the orchid and the charge price ($5) in the invoice. However, no one remember the orchid during the wedding day. But as soon as I mentioned the orchid, Pa Kou contacted Susie. And someone brought the orchid to my apartment in an hour, so problem was solved.

My make up lasted ok. My fake eye-lashes was peeling a bit after 6 hours. My lips was a bit dry. If you can, bring a lip gross for touch up. The little touch up kit was ok. You may need a bit more power and lip gross for later. Bring it yourself!

Overall, it was a great experience. Good price ($200 for hair and make up on wedding day)! Good work! NO TRAVEL! You can just stay at home, and enjoy the moment. No stress!

If I have a friend who needs hair and make up, I will suggest Susie to her right away! For that price, no one can beat it!

Jackie did an amazing job!! She did a flawless job for my trial session on both my hair and make up so i knew she was going to do a great job for my big day, and she did it even better :) I wanted to use extensions in my hair to make it more full and to hold the curl, it was not a problem and turned out great. My hair stayed perfect the whole night and my make up did too, i didn't even need the touch up kit. Jackie is the best!
Susie and her group of girls are very nice and very professional. I will recommend them to anyone needing hair and make up service.

Susie is AMAZING! She has a lot of experience, impeccable taste, she is honest, she is meticulous, and she is reliable. This is also what makes her team so wonderful as well. On the day of the wedding Susie brought 3 team members. They were on time and we stayed on schedule the entire morning and afternoon. The 3 team members focused on the bridesmaid. Their hair and make up all matched and they looked beautiful. Susie focused on my hair and make up for more two hours! Also her prices are very very reasonable. I first heard about Susie Chhuor through the Weddingbee.com classifieds and had the opportunity to meet with her for a hair/make-up trial session this past December.
I was late to the session due to unforseen circumstances and I had no idea what type of hair/make-up I wanted, but she was able to create a look that I definitely think I'd be happy with the day of. She's clearly very talented, friendly, and has a sense of ease to her work. Even under a time constraint she was able to make me look good! I found Susie on craigslist and I was pleasantly surprised by her work on my trial. She was very nice and helpful in giving me ideas for hairstyles. She was not pushy like other artist and was open to my ideas/suggestions. I would highly recommend her to anyone who's looking for a makeup & hairstylist for their wedding or any events.

Susie did an absolutely awesome job on my hair & makeup. She was also very fun to work with and ended up doing so much a greater job than I wanted or expected. Although we bumped into a few problems while setting up the trial session, at the end, everyone got what they wanted and because she did such an awesome job, I'm hiring her for my wedding! She is very professional and has the most gentle touch and great tastes. You can exepct a lot of questions about what you want, but in the end... just let her work and do her magic because she really know what she is doing and what will look great... as can be told through the results!

I was referred to Susie Chhuor through a co-worker (my date to the banquet was complaining about how it was always a gamble getting a department store to do her makeup.. sometimes it would be great and sometimes it would be downright embarrassing). So I told her to check out Susie as she had a very professional portfolio of past clients already.

Well to make a long story short..when all was said and done, my date was the damn best looking girl that night. : D

hair girl was. She was so unprofessional! Even the way
that she just jumped in and started curling my maid of
honor's hair without talking with anyone about how
they wanted it. Luckily it worked out, but seriously,
she needed to ask. I was so irritated with her, making
me feel like I was holding her up on my wedding day.
And thank you for fixing my mom's hair. It looked
ridiculous the way she left it and I would have just
let it go and ended up hating it in all my pictures so
many thanks for stepping in and fixing it!

Susie is one of the most talented makeup artist / hair stylist I have ever worked with. As a wedding photographer, I work with brides closely and no flaws really escape from the camera. There are times I notice other MUA either apply makeup that's too heavy, or lashes too thick that make the brides uncomfortable, or foundation that doesn't seem to be even, or blemishes that's not covered well. But with Susie, she seems to have that magic touch that always strike the perfect balance with the amount of makeup and the style that puts a smile on your face. Her hair styling and makeup often seem to accentuate the beauty of the bride rather than making you look completely different which I absolutely adore.
