Susie Chhuor Hair | Makeup Studio {Airbrush&Extensions}

I found this salon via Yelp. I am so glad I went to them. Jackie was my makeup and hair artist. She's such a sweetie and great at what she does. First off, the location of the place is not updated on Yelp so I went to their old location, I tried calling their number and no one picked up and so I emailed Nicole whom I went through for booking (everything was done via email). Nicole is very prompt with responding to emails. They're now located on Motor, inside a white building which you would need a code for to get in. I explained to Jackie the dress I would be wearing for the photoshoot that day and I explained to her the two hair styles that I was debating between and she recommended to leave my hair down with curls.

The makeup was flawless and the hair was so nice! However the curls towards the front of my far were looser since we used a different iron, and towards the middle of the shoot the curls in the front had let out completely. :( But the curls in the back stayed in tact the entire shoot. My makeup looked great for the shoot!! Thanks Jackie!

Sunny, from Susie Chhuor Studios, did my makeup and hair for the Academy Awards this year, and did a fabulous job. I cannot say enough good things about her professionalism and the work that she did. I was so happy with my 'natural' makeup look which is hard to sometimes get across to makeup artists. Everything was perfect!

My wedding day finally arrived and Susie was there to make me and my bridesmaids look beautiful! She was scheduled to arrive at 7am and she got to my house right on time. She and her assistant Marsha worked wonders on us. I had 5 bridesmaids and I was especially interested in seeing what they could do to transform one of them in particular. One of my best friends is a complete tomboy. When I got engaged, she told me she would grow her hair out from her usual shaved head and she would put a dress on for me. By the time my wedding day arrived, her hair was a little longer than a pixie cut. I had requested that Susie do a faux updo on her. After Susie was done teasing and pinning her hair and Marsha was done with her makeup, my friend was a transformed woman! She was so pretty! Even her girlfriend said she wanted her to look like that more often.

All of my bridesmaids looked fabulous on my special day. Their hair and makeup looked flawless. One of my bridesmaids loved her makeup so much that she was excited to email Susie and Marsha after the wedding to get advice on how to recreate her look.

Now I'll discuss my experience. After all my bridesmaids were done, it was finally my turn to get beautified. Susie did both my hair and makeup. I was so relaxed with her because I knew she would make me look great. I had done 2 trials with her and she also did my hair and makeup for my engagement photos so I was confident in her skills. Plus she is simply a nice person. There's no ego, no arrogance. She is open to feedback and just wants her clients to be happy.

My hair and makeup turned out better than I had hoped for. I have to say that I looked pretty darn fabulous and I got so many compliments that day. My hair and makeup lasted the entire day (10:30am until 11pm) through the ceremony, windy outdoor photos, multiple wardrobe changes, reception and dancing. I am so grateful to Susie for making me a beautiful bride!

So I am a very picky person when it comes to makeup. I've gotten by makeup done at other places for twice the price of what Susie charges and never fully was satisfied with the work. But first and foremost, Susie is very professional and also very polite. She informed me of every product that she used on me and also was extremely gentle. She let me know what she was doing which I really appreciated because in the past, I've had makeup "artists" just cake on makeup on me without letting me know how dark they were filling in my brows.
Susie also gave me very helpful skin advice. She asked me what face products I was using and explained why my skin was so dry and what changes I could make in producing healthier skin which would enhance my makeup.
She seemed to be very knowledgeable and also a down-to-earth, sweet person.I didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable at all and have received numerous compliments about my makeup from those who saw me that night and who have seen pictures.
I definitely recommend her! Prices are affordable, service is AMAZING, & makeup is professional!

First off, the location is relatively nice since it was easy to locate and on a Main Street. The studio is nice, private and not to mention cozy as well.

Right when we got there, Susie was really hospitable and even offered wine as we were waiting. All of the girls working there are nice and social.

Juli was my hair stylist and makeup artist and I have to say she is amazing! she's pretty and super friendly! Our session literally took 2 hours but by the time she was done it didn't even feel like it! I felt like I was just talking to a girlfriend and we were catching up!

Throughout the session Susie made sure the makeup and hair was done perfectly and if anything needed to be fixed she would let her artists know right away.

Susie Chhuor team was very responsive and flexible in working with my schedule. I didn't research on a hair and make up artist until just a few weeks before my wedding. It was very helpful reviewing the artist's portfolio prior to booking with them.

I went with Vanessa, a lead make-up artist for SC, and was very excited for my bridal trial (must pay separately as it didn't come with my package) and was really upset with it. Everything that I had wanted for my hair, she kept telling me that it wouldn't work for my hair... since I have darker hair color than the photos or that my hair wasn't long/thick enough for the style. After a few hours indoors, I noticed that my makeup was running and that there wasn't much coverage in the areas that I needed coverage.

I reached out to her afterwards, letting her know that I was upset with how the trial turned out, so she let me come back (this time with extensions I had to go and purchase to hopefully make my hair longer/fuller), it was much better the second time around. We decided to go with powder instead of airbrush (price stayed the same, even though airbrush usually costs more), it worked much better for my skin and had more coverage.

On the day of, my 6 bridesmaids and two beautiful mothers were all done up, but not on time. Hair and makeup had completely taken up the extra hour of bridal/BM photos, before we had to leave to our venue. I was really upset with this...

All in all I wasn't trying to be picky and let her do something a little different (more to her forte) for hair and loved how it turned out. I only wish I could say the same for the...

September 1, 2012 was a magical and glorious day and Sunny and Julie from Susie Chhuor deserve all the credit. The studio, and its artists, celebrate the beauty of each woman by highlighting her features in a very individual way. Sunny and Julie embodied this mantra with their artistry as manifested by their fantastic job with my five bridesmaids and me. Both our hair and makeup lasted all day long - and more importantly, we were all so very happy with their work.
Nicole, the studio manager, is prompt in her reply and manages the studio impeccably.
I offer my highest recommendation to Susie Chuor and its artists and am infinitely grateful to them for sharing in my wedding day.

Jackie and her assistant were on time - 8am sharp, even though there was traffic. They didn't take much time to get setup and started working on my bridesmaids at about 8:15. They also ended 20 minutes early - awesome! A few things:

- I loved my hair. It was exactly how I wanted it - down, big curls, big top. She finished my hair around noon and the curls lasted until about 7pm or so. By night time, it was just wavy.

- Jackie's assistant had enough time at the end to do touch ups for my bridesmaids hair. They were very happy about that.

- I had asked Jackie before (via email), if I could use individual lashes to make them look fuller and she said sure. The day of, she ended up using two sets of lashes, one on top of each other. That was fine with me, and really the day of, I was too worried about how the day was going than to worry about my lashes, though it would've been nice to try the individual ones. What really bothered me though was - OK so I have extensions already on my lashes and she didn't try to make them all one piece, so from the side, you can see all three sets. VERY awkward. My bridesmaid had to use mascara to piece them together. I would've said something the day of, but she looked kinda tired and I felt bad to keep going back to her, to have things changed.

- I have super dark bags under my eyes and it takes alot to cover them up. I think she did a pretty good job during our trial a few months ago, but I ended up having to put more concealer after she left. This was after I asked her to cover more, twice.

- One of my bridesmaids told me I had a blotch on my cheek. She tried to smudge it a little, but I was rushed and didn't have time to see how bad it was. I wish I can attach a picture, there's one where you can totally see it my cheek. This was on professional pictures, yup, not too happy.

I see that that Susie Chhuor (as well as Jackie) has done some amazing work on people, so I'd still recommend them. Maybe I was...

Susie did my hair and makeup for my wedding as well as the hair and make up for my mom and 3 bridesmaids on the day of the wedding! She is truly like Super Woman! Not only did she do it all herself, she also make the trek down to San Diego to do it! Everyone LOVED their look!

Working with Susie was truly a pleasure from start to finish. Nicole was super helpful and responsive in booking the trial runs and the day of wedding schedule. My trial with Susie went great but the best part was for the day of wedding, she had really studied the photos from the trial session and made some subtle changes that made me look even better! I love how she is confident with what she does and not afraid to make suggestions but also makes sure that you like the look. I don't normally wear much make up day to day and Susie did an excellent job making me look natural but accentuated my features! Especially for Asian brides out there, it's so hard to find a makeup artist that can work with asian skin tones/features and hair textures. Susie (and Sunny who did my engagement hair/makeup) are truly skilled at this and that is what makes them stand out! Best of all, Susie has such a great personality and really cares that her clients are happy with the results! I will no doubt always go to Susie and her girls for my hair and makeup...

Awesome! Susie was recommended to me by my wedding planner, Kelley Gin. I had a trial with Susie almost 8 months before the wedding because I live out of town. The trial went great...then I decided to completely change my hairstyle. Susie and Nicole reassured me via email that the change would be totally fine and that Susie would be able to do my new hairstyle.

On the day of the wedding, Susie and her team arrived early and set up quickly. Everyone's makeup and hair looked great. I'm a huge fan of Susie's makeup style because she doesn't cake-on makeup but just makes everyone look like a more beautiful version of themselves. The makeup felt very light but stayed on. I was very impressed by how my hair and makeup stayed intact through an outdoor ceremony, and hours and hours of dancing.

Jackie and her team did hair/makeup for my wedding. My bridesmaids looked absolutely gorgeous, makeup and hair stayed in place all day long! I'm not a big makeup person so finding someone to do my hair/makeup was challenging as I wanted a simple, natural, less is more look. They were very receptive and I was very happy with the outcome.

Susie Chhuor Hair did a great job on my hair and makeup for my wedding. Jackie, my stylist, was on time and very helpful. She also listened to what I wanted and made me look natural. I had the most horrible experiences with makeup for my wedding until I met Susie. She was extremely talented and responded to my requests with ease. Her work made me look like a princess on my big day and I could not have thanked her enough. My husband and I had a budget for our wedding and the item I thought I could skimp on was makeup. I tried a cheaper option thinking it would leave me more margin for the important things like favors, food, venue etc. However, after having my trial session with Susie, I realized nothing really mattered as much as how the bride is presented on her big day. Photos are worth so much more than a thousand words and I realized I wanted to be remembered as a beaming, beautiful bride. It didn't matter how much my wedding favors were or if the steak was tasty enough. 10-20 years down the line, the pictures are what I will show to my children and I am so lucky to have had Susie perform her magic on me. Her airbrush techniques were flawless, she made my eyes and skin look bright and energized. The makeup she used did not give me any kind of adverse effects except being a bit sad when I had to remove it. Many of my guests commented on my makeup and told me I've never looked better. I am usually a dull person who never gets noticed in a crowd, I had my one day of beauty and it was all thanks to Susie and her team. Her prices are a bit on the high side but I think the end result is definitely worth the extra buck or two. If you are a bride like me and you hope to have a perfect wedding day, please take a moment to pamper yourself and ensure you make yourself beautiful. It really is very important! Afterall, its YOUR big day!

I am so fortunate to have had Susie and her team do hair and make-up for my mom’s wedding this past January. I have also been to her studio to get my hair and make-up done for a wedding last September. Her studio is nothing but adorable! Not to mention the soundtrack they play puts you in a wedding mood!

Her team arrived promptly at the home and made do with the little space we had, considering we had 20 family members running around the house. She and her team were very professional and very nice and oh so sweet. Susie made sure my family and I we were satisfied with our hair and make-up and would ask if there were any changes they needed to make. All we had to do was show her a picture, and she and her team did their magic. Her team was so accommodating and very meticulous. My mom was very very happy with her hair and make-up and could not believe the work they did, especially with the airbrush. I LOVED working with Susie Chhuor and her team! They were very accommodating to my schedule. My bridal party and I needed to be ready by 8:30am, and Susie and her assistant made sure they arrived to our hotel promptly at 5am! My wonderful makeup & hair artist Maria was so great. I had contacted Susie asking for a vintage look, and Maria really came through. I definitely recommend going for a trial session-- combine it with your engagement photo shoot. That's what I did with my trial session, and when I decided to change my mind about the style, they fit me in for another trial right away. My makeup looked so natural the entire night and my hair stayed in place as well. Maria was super sweet and was happy to come over by ferry to Catalina early on Saturday to help me and the girls. Susie did an awesome job doing my makeup and my mom's on the big day! She arrived promptly and we were finished in record timing. The air brush makeup was light and flawless. I felt beautiful all day and my hair do lasted all not long, through hours of dancing :)

After 2 bad hair and make up trials at a salon, I looked up wedding hair and makeup on Wedding Wire. I originally thought going to a wedding hair and makeup company would be too expensive but it wasn't the case. I choose Susie Chhour company because they had photos of people who looked natural, not like they had loads of makeup on but like a very pretty version of themselves.

From my first interactions with Susie, she was extremely nice, professional and very on top of everything. I was set up for a trial with Sunny. Sunny was just terrific, also very nice and professional. The trial was great. Sunny took several photos I had and blended them into exactly what I wanted. I was nervous the whole time because of my bad experiences before but it just all came together and I was so happy and confident it would be great on the wedding day.

On the wedding day, everything went perfect with Sunny and the team. I couldn't have been happier with the results. My hair and make up was great. I wanted to feel beautiful on my wedding day and Sunny just made it happen. I really felt like a bride should. The team also did an amazing job on the bridesmaids. My makeup/hairstylist Sunny is truly a gem. Not only was she so efficient and punctual (she and her co-make up artist provided service for 3 of my bridesmaids and 2 mothers), she absolutely knows how to accentuate your fine facial features. Everybody who saw us during the wedding could not stop complimenting how beautiful and fresh looking we are. The hair and make-up products they used are very comfortable to wear plus they lasted throughout the event. I didn't have to use the extra touch up kit Sunny provided me. Susie did my hair and makeup for my wedding. I had two trials with her and she was very easy to work with on both. I brought in pictures of what I wanted and she worked off of those and did a great job. I liked the first trial, but as time went on I decided that I wanted a different look for my wedding, so I did a second trial with her. She did a really good job on the first trial, but on the second trial she absolutely nailed exactly what I wanted in terms of my hair and makeup. It was perfect! She came to my hotel room on the day of the wedding with an assistant and they did hair and makeup for myself and my bridal party. They did a great job on everyone and were on time to begin, which was a huge relief. They got everyone's hair and makeup done in the amount of time that Susie predicted and kept us on schedule. My hair and makeup was beautiful and was exactly what I wanted. The hair stayed put and the makeup stayed fresh all night. I highly recommend Susie and her team. They will make you look and feel beautiful on your wedding day!

Evelyn from the Susie Chhuor studios was amazing! She was punctual and did an amazing job, we all looked great! My only negative comment is Susie's lack of responsiveness. She does not return calls or emails, you sort of have to hunt her down o ensure you are booked, but when you do get a hold of her she is super sweet...I just think she is spread a little thin as she is always booked.

I worked with Susie and Pheobe for my wedding and both were great. I came in for the trial a week in advance and was pleased that Susie was willing to adjust, pull, and tuck in order to experiment until we found what worked.

I actually requested a mod theme wedding look - which meant lot's of height in the hair and very very dark eyes. The girls did a great job. All bridesmaids looked spectacular. Not conventional at all - but handled beautifully by Susie and Pheobe. I highly recommend false lashes - even for a wedding.

Practically speaking - the girls arrived promptly at 9AM, were done 30 min before the estimated time, and that's accommodating one unplanned hair/make-up session. They were polite, fun, flexible and left me with a few extras for touch-ups.

It was a pleasure working with them.

Susie did an amazing job on my wedding hair and makeup. It lasted from 10:00 am to 3 am the next day with no smearing..and I have the very oily skin (as Susie pointed out too). She was very attentive to my long e-mails and very flexible with schedule changes. I think I changed my trial date 5-6 times and she responded quickly. One of my bridesmaids told me she liked how "clean" my makeup and hair looked. She even did a little body touchup for my gross back acne scars at no extra cost. Her prices are reasonable and she's always offering really good discounts so take advantage of her before her prices go up!

I decided to do a boudoir session with Sarina Love Photography who recommended me to use Susie Chhuor and I'm so thankful for this amazing recommendation! Susie and her team did a phenomenal job on my hair and makeup! I felt super pampered and they are so sweet and friendly. Prices are also very reasonable. I booked with Susie and her team for my wedding on 11/7/10. I must say, they did an amazing job not only on me, but also my entire bridal party. When I first met with Susie for a trial, we sat down, and she wanted to know exactly the type of hair and make-up I wanted for my wedding...she made it very clear, that she will do whatever the bride wants, if my mom wanted a different color blush for me, Susie will only do what the bride says. And I love her for that. I wanted something simple, I don't like a lot of make-up, but at the same time I wanted my make-up to show, I didn't want it to look to cakey. Something, light, simple, and spohisticated...and Susie delivered!!!! From the trial to the day of the wedding the service I recieved from this vendor were absolutely wonderful. They are very dependable, professional, and patient. Things were a little crazy on my wedding day, and I was constantly apologizing to Susie...but her and her team were so patient with everyone, and they were so accomdating to everything we asked for. Brides, this vendor will not disappoint, not only is their customer service great...but Susie will do everything to make you look beautiful on your day. And the look on my husband's face when he saw me was priceless. Susie really made me feel and look like a princess, I couldn't have imagined anything better...she was worth every penny.

The day of my trial she was amazing! She changed things when I requested it, and explained to me why my makeup was done a certain way and even took pictures to show me how it would show up in photos. After showing her a couple of photos of what I wanted, she knew exactly what to do. She made me feel really glamorous and I was completely confident on how things would go the day of the wedding.

On my wedding day, Jackie and her assistant showed up on time and were extremely professional and timely. They didn't make us late, and when her assistant finished early, she helped my mother-in-law iron my dress!

In all, they did my hair and makeup, my mom's, sister's and MOH's hair and makeup, and my MIL's makeup. Everyone looked gorgeous and we all looked perfect in pictures!

I would definately recommend this team to anyone getting married and wanting to look glamorous on their wedding day!

I reserved Susie's services of hair and make-up for my e-session. Our communication during the process was great. Susie was very responsive and prompt with email replies and she was very professional. During the e-session make-up and hair, she always made sure I was okay and happy with what she was doing and always asked if I wanted something changed. But of course, whatever she was doing was always perfect and I didn't have to change anything! Susie made the appointment very relaxing as well as enjoyable and comfortable. There was never a time where I was nervous or anxious about what she was doing. It was great working with her and even though I haven't seen my e-session photos yet, I am positive they will turn out great and that my hair and make-up was perfect! It was a no-brainer which team I would choose when it came to hair and makeup for my wedding. With 1 bride, 5 bridesmaids, and 2 mothers, I needed a vendor that was reliable and had a sizable team, and that was also familiar with Asian skin/hair. Sunny and her girls fit the bill for my needs (even though I signed the contract 11 months out, Susie was already booked!). I used Sunny on 3 occasions. Each time (engagement, trial, wedding), Sunny was patient and attentive to what looks I wanted. If you can, bring some pictures for inspiration. I also brought my accessories so we could play around with them.

Note: you can save some money by using your trial make-up session for your engagement pictures if you're going for similar looks for both e*pics and the wedding. But if you want completely diff looks for both days...just pay extra for a wedding trial. The make-up for a casual e*session differs from the techniques used for a bride!

Susie is wonderful to work with and I was so happy how my makeup and hair turned out for my wedding. My wedding party also looked beautiful. They all let me know that they were happy with their look and had absolutely no complaints!

Working with Susie was great and she's responsive to your emails with any crazy questions you have for her. She's patient and makes sure you are happy with your look. She also has reasonable pricing and really great value for what you pay.

I had my trial session with Susie yesterday and I could not be happier! I am extremely particular and after showing Susie a few pictures of the look I was going for, I barely needed to give her any more guidance. But whenever I did, she adjusted her work to accomodate EXACTLY what I wanted. The final look made me smile from ear to ear. I couldn't have imagined it looking any better. I didn't want to take my hair out, but I was going home and didn't want my fiance to see:) But he did see my makeup and loved it! My wedding isn't for another 8 months, so I'll repost after the final product, but if you're looking for a professional, affordable hair and makeup artist, I highly recommend Susie!

I could not have been happier with my wedding day hair and makeup. Susie took her time making sure everything was perfect. She listened to me and made adjustments where I asked her to. She was sweet, professional and charming and even my mother, who hadn't planned on having her makeup done, was so impressed with Susie and her teams' work, she made a last minute addition and had her makeup done as well!

I re-affirm what I said in my original post. Susie is fantastic and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for professional, affordable wedding day makeup!

My mom was very picky and at first my mom told Jackie after her first attempt that she would do it on her own. But Jackie was persistent and asked my mom exactly what she wanted. Her hair came out beautifully! I loved loved loved my hair and makeup! I would recommend all brides to consider this company, but also Jackie. She is so sweet and laughed along as me and my bridesmaids made conversation with one another. Although I had a fairly big wedding party (5 bmds and 1 moh), they finished not only on time but with time to spare for me and my girls to relax before the festivities began! I was late to the session due to unforseen circumstances and I had no idea what type of hair/make-up I wanted, but she was able to create a look that I definitely think I'd be happy with the day of. I had worked with Jackie Jang, one of Susie Chhuor's lead stylist, for my wedding. From the make-up and hair trials to the final product on my wedding day, Jackie was wonderful. At each trial, she listened attentively to what I wanted and worked with me to create a look that worked best for me. If you're like me, what you look like on your big day will be one of your most carefully considered decisions. I had a few concerns: someone who could handle my no-lidded Japanese eyes yet also do a good job on my bridal party of all ethnicities, and someone who was flexible and patient enough to handle my hard-to-please mother. After my mother and I had a hair & makeup trial w/ Susie, we knew that we had a winner! In addition to creating hair/makeup that lasted 8 - 10 hours (we went out for a nice dinner, then I went to a sweaty bar to test drive the make up's staying power), she also provided us with websites to visit for makeup reviews, and advice for products to use over the four months until the big day. She was also very responsive over email to my feedback re the trial, and about changes my mom was thinking about making.

The wedding day itself went really smoothly, too. Susie and her team of 4 others handled 8 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and me professionally and with a sense of fun. Everyone was very pleased with their looks, and were especially excited by the effect created by the false eyelashes. Everyone chose a different hair and make up style, but yet as a group they all looked cohesive in this stylishly mismatched look that I was going for as a theme of the wedding in general. My make up lasted from its 12 noon application, through tears and sweat, until 12 midnight w/ only minimal re-powdering (I have oily skin).

And girls, if you are a make up junkie like me you might be excited to know that Susie uses MakeUpForever, a personal favorite brand of mine for foundations/concealers/powders.

Jackie did my hair and makeup for my wedding and I was absolutely pleased with her work. We met last December for a make up and hair trial. We tried one look that looked great in the sample, but looked not so great on me. Thankfully, Jackie tried another option I had considered and we decided that that was MUCH better. I booked her that same day for my wedding in July. I had wanted to tweak that look a little for the day of the wedding and Jackie was able to incorporate that change for me the day of. Jackie and another stylist from Susie Chhuor arrived early for our appointment - which I was extremely grateful for. They set up immediately and got to work and were efficient with their time. My mom had wanted to put her (short) hair up and Jackie was able to give my mom exactly what she wanted. I loved my hair and make up! I did not have to do any touch ups on my hair or make up the entire duration of the wedding. My mom and I received several compliments from the guests on our hair and make up. I highly recommend the Jackie and the Susie Chhuor team - they were timely in the response to my questions and great to work with!

I had my bridal hair & make up done with Jackie @ Susie Chhuor. I put down a deposit to secure my date before having met anyone from their team. I had read so many good reviews and they were highly recommended by my coordinator so I took a chance and booked them.

Susie was booked for my wedding date, so I was a bit nervous, but she assured me that her girls would take good care of me. After my trial, there were some minor adjustments that needed to be made, but thats what a trial is for! My hair is super thick so it was falling out a bit on the bottom so she recommended that I get it thinned out prior to the wedding.

On the day of the wedding Jackie and her assitant arrived right on time to our hotel and got right to work. My make up on the day of the wedding was amazing! It felt so light and enhanced all the right features and most importantly it lasted all day! The hair turned out perfectly and even better than I imagined. I must have had close to 100+ bobby pins in my head but it stayed until the end. She even put on some body shimmer for me which completed the look. I received so many compliments on my hair and makeup and when I told them how much it was they were shocked at the great price.

The only suggestion I would have for them is the touch up kit could be a little better. I think there was one oil blotter sheet, a tiny dab of lipstick/gloss & applicator, and something else I didn't use.

They did raise the prices for 2010, but I definitely think its worth it and would recoomend them to future brides. Thanks Jackie!!

Susie was awesome! She is super sweet and wonderful to have around on your wedding day. She answered all of my questions and made sure I had exactly what I wanted on my wedding day. Jackie and Vanessa were the make-up artists and hairstylists who beautified two of my bridesmaids and me for my wedding. I had my trial with Jackie too and was happy my look that I booked her a few weeks later. Jackie and Vanessa were scheduled to arrive at 8:00am and showed up at 7:45am which was great. After Jackie put on the false lashes, I was ready to get married! My bridesmaids and I looked gorgeous and elegant. It was a very warm and humid day plus due to a power outage there was no air conditioning in the church! Photos were taken outside as well. Needless to say, I was sweating up a storm, but my make-up and hair looked flawless. Because of the heat, I needed to touch up prior to the reception but that was it. After all the dancing and crying, my make-up and hair stayed in place through the ceremony and reception. Check out Susie Chhuor and set up a trial with Jackie or Vanessa. Susie was amazing! She made me feel gorgeous on my wedding day! She was also very attentive. Jackie Jang did a lovely job on my hair and makeup for my e-session. She was very attentive to all my needs and even took pictures of me to show the difference on camera. For my engagement photo shoot, it took 2 hours on a hot day in May and my makeup still looked really good!

Susie Chhuor did an awesome job on my makeup during the wedding trial and wedding day. She truly listened to every request I had and made sure I was comfortable with the color and feel of the makeup. Susie and her team did a great job on my bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother-in-law's requests for hair and/or makeup. They also happen to arrive early (even though they had a wedding appointment before mine). My makeup was flawless the entire wedding day (the only thing I had to reapply was lipgloss). I still continue to receive endless compliments on my makeup and the bridal party's makeup/hair!

I had my trial session and wedding day makeup with Jackie and couldn't be happier with the result! I was originally asking my hair stylist and aesthetician to do my hair and makeup for my wedding but since my wedding starts super early in the morning, they could not accommodate it. I found Susie's info on the web only a month before the wedding and decided to trust the good reviews. I am so happy that I did! I had to be picture ready by 8am and in order to accomplish that, Jackie and Erika had to start at 4am. They arrived at 3:30am and although the church was locked till 4:15am which delayed the schedule, they did hair and makeup for me, and 5 bridesmaids on time. I highly recommend their service to anyone.

I was not happy with either my makeup or hair. I went with susie for a trial couple months ago based on the reviews of PW and because of her affordable price. The makeup didnt last!!! My fiance said the foundation is thick. My already oily face became oilier after the trail session as the day went on!!! It went out OK in the trail though. Her rate is definitely affordable, but you really get what you pay. She is very friendly, but I just think she needs to IMPROVE on her work!!!

My apologies on my late review. But I had a complimentary make-up session around winter of last year with Susie, and she was wonderful. I like how her make up enhances your features and natural beauty. Her makeup felt so light that it didn't feel like you had any on. She is one vendor that I can trust and recommend to other brides.

Sunny La from Susie Chhuor did an amazing job on my hair and makeup for my wedding! I know without her I would not have felt as beautiful of a bride as I did. I wasn't sure what to do with my hair, and she offered very helpful suggestions. My makeup photographed great and she completely covered my blemishes and made my complexion look wonderful and natural. Sunny was very flexible with scheduling and adding on services for my bridesmaids. She was on-time to all of our appointments. Sunny of Susie Chuuor did my makeup for my hindu wedding ceremony and my hair and makeup for my American ceremony. She did an excellent job- I could not be more pleased. She was great to work with- prompt, kind, flexible, and calmed my fears about wearing "too much" makeup. Both looks that she created perfectly matched my dresses and the feel of the day. My makeup and hair look so beautiful in my photos, even after hours in the sun. Compared to most other makeup studios, their prices are reasonable and, honestly, it is definitely worth it to hire them and not have to worry about a thing!

I found Susie from another website and read about her great reviews. I meet up with her for a hair and make trial. Right away I can tell that she is very professional. Since I am very indecisive, my MOH came with me. Mia and I love the way she did my hair and make-up: very natural and great for pictures. I was not use to fake eyelashes and the make up but it looked very nice for the pictures.

She was great about changing time to get me ready for my wedding. When I booked her, I was not sure what time I needed to be ready. As the day got closer, I had to change my time to accommodate other services. Susie was great about doing my hair and make up earlier.

Also, I kept adding people for her services. Since she has a team of make up and hair artists, this was not problem!

Susie kept asking my bridesmaids and mom if the hair and make up was okay. She wanted all of us to be comfortable with our looks. She could tell that one of my girls was not happy about her look and fixed it herself.

I also booked her for my engagement pictures. She gave me tips for a simple and quick change in hair styles for the engagement.

Since, I booked her in 2009 for 2010, the cost was very reasonable. I also went to another trial make up and hair artist. She was cheaper, but not professional. I highly recommend Susie and her team! Very professional and flexible!

Susie did my hair and my sister's hair and makeup for her wedding. She is really good at what she does. I was very happy with the way my hair turned out. I told her what I wanted, and she whipped it up in no time. My sister's makeup turned out very nice. Susie does a more natural style than others, which is exactly what my sister wanted. She looked just like herself, just a prettier version. Susie arrived early and stayed until she made sure everything was to our satisfaction, and the whole time she was friendly and had encouraging words.

My experience with Susie Chhuor Hair and Make-up Studio was extremely positive. Sunny La was my make-up artist and hair stylist and she did an absolutely fabulous job. First off, she saw me for my trial session on her day off and really took her time to understand what I thought I wanted! I was tentative about the false eye-lashes but they are the best! On the day of the wedding my make-up remained the same as the trial but I changed the hair-style. Even with a last minute change everything looked beautiful. Sunny is very talented, patient, and sweet. My mom and my bridesmaids looked equally beautiful as did my flower girl. Thank you to the Susie Chhuor team!

Susie is a truly talented makeup artist who definitely knows what she's doing. She is personable and really listens to what you want and gives her suggestions when needed as well! I normally don't like getting my makeup done but Susie makes you look and feel amazing without overdoing it. She'll do your makeup and hair with ease and will make adjustments until you're completely satisfied. She's responsive, friendly and great at what she does. Look no further :)

After reading numerous positive reviews of Susie Chhuor and her staff, I set up a trial session. The trial was with Jackie Jang and she did a great job. She listened to what I had to say, and I loved the look. I knew there were a few minor things that I would need tweaking and she said that would be fine. Jackie and her assistant arrived on the morning of the wedding and did hair/make-up for me and my bridesmaids. She did a great job on my hair/make-up and it stayed throughout the whole night. I felt like we could have started a little earlier in the morning, so I would suggest erring on the side of having more time than less - I take full responsibility for this since I set up the time. The only thing I was not crazy about is the fact that Jackie and her assistant did not leave a lot of room to touch-up once I was done, stating that they had a trial back at their studio after me and needed to get back for that. This made me feel a bit pushed aside. I would just advise asking Jackie how long she will be at your pre-ceremony site even after you are done so you don't have any surprises.

I had originally booked a hair and makeup artist a year in advance for my wedding, but when I went to my trial session (at her apartment) six weeks before my wedding, I found out that she had no license, no experience, and no supplies! She took four hours, used all my makeup, and made me look horrible! I found Susie through another website, and contacted her in a complete panic, and she got right back to me. I had a trial session with her within a couple of days, and she made me look gorgeous! Two days before my wedding, I had an allergic reaction to a face cream, and my whole face and neck started peeling! My skin peeled all day long for a week, but despite that, Susie was able to make me look so beautiful! My makeup lasted all night without any touch-ups, and no one was able to tell anything was wrong with my skin. She was there early, despite the fact that no one can ever find my apartment, and had me ready to go in time for pictures. Susie was the nicest, sweetest, most professional makeup artist that I've ever met, and she's really affordable for the quality you get! She always answered my emails really quickly, and she handled all my last minute changes to my hair and makeup without any problems! I'm going to recommend her to everyone I know!

i never met, susie, but another one of the artists, jackie, was available for hair and makeup. she was very quick to respond to any emails and questions i had and for a bride who had no idea what she was doing with hair and makeup, jackie was very helpful. i made an appointment for a trial session and emailed pictures prior to our meeting and tried to describe what i was thinking. she made to sure to give honest feedback as to whether or not my ideas were doable and even found other options and provided pictures. given that i'm also not much of a girly girl and dont EVER use makeup, she was good at compromising and understanding where i was coming from ("less/natural thin foundation"), while also pushing back on certain ideas that she thought i should reconsider. i'm grateful for that because she pushed the envelope just a little for me and it turned out fine. she also took on a last minute trial session for my mom who decided she wanted to get her hair done and that turned out great, too. very classy - for a mom who also doesn't ever get her hair done up. i also booked her for my engagement session which happened to be on mother's day, so again, jackie was very flexible. i also think their prices are very reasonable for what you get compared to some of the other hair/makeup services i researched.

on the day of the wedding, she took her time, she was calm, she did my mom's hair and then mine, and i was done in plenty of time. everything was right on schedule as planned and she definitely took care of me as far as any touch up's and getting my veil in (which we also had not planned for during the trial).

some cons that some brides may not care for (which i did not mind AT ALL) was that jackie is on the quieter side. so at first it comes off like she isn't too sure of herself, but not to worry - her work spoke for itself and it turned out really good. she knows what she's doing. she at least deserves a trial session if you're interested! i also think i'm somewhat of a tougher customer because i'm not into make up and hair, so i was more picky about how it looked - i needed to look like me.

afterwards, i was thinking i should have pushed a little harder to look even more natural, more like me [no makeup], but i realized after previously trying out a couple hair/makeup options, if you're going to hire a hair/makeup person and pay for it, you gotta let them do their job right, so either learn to do the makeup yourself so that you could put as little on as possible, or leave it to the pros so you don't have to worry about it that day, and so that you don't regret not doing "enough" with the makeup so that it makes any difference at all. i'm very glad i chose the latter. thank-you-jackie.

To all future brides – even if you are planning a wedding with a tight budget, there are two things that really worth your money (yes, aside from that perfect gown!): photographer and make-up artist. I had the pleasure of having SUNNY LA (of Susie Chhuor team) as my make-up artist for my wedding in May 2010. She is very talented, professional, and pleasant to work with. I’ve seen many make-up artists who over-apply the make-up; making the brides look older than they actually are. Sunny is able to bring the best features out of my face while keeping me look fresh and young. I referred Sunny to my now-sister in law for her own wedding; and she was extremely happy with Sunny’s work. I love Sunny’s work on my wedding day that I hired her again for my post-wedding photo session; and she delivered. So Ladies, I would highly recommend you to hire Sunny not only for your wedding day, but for any special occasion where you want to look and feel your best!

We worked with Susie and her team for our hair and makeup for my wedding. I think they did a fantastic job. Not only did they come on time and were very professional, but they completed everything in the time that was allotted to them. I loved my hair and makeup and I can honestly say that both lasted all night. One of my fears was getting "raccoon eyes" by the end of the night but even after all my crazy-woman dancing, my eye makeup was perfect! Additionally, it was very windy in Palos Verdes where we had the wedding and even though I had my hair mostly down, it looked great and was not destroyed by the wind. All of my bridesmaids, maid-of-honor, and mom looked beautiful on this day. What I really enjoyed about Susie and her crew was that they really listened to what we wanted. Susie incorporated everything we talked about during my trial into the "day of". I think we all felt very comfortable with Susie and her girls. They kept asking us if we were okay, if we felt comfortable with our hair/makeup. Plus, they are really fun and caring people! I definitely felt like I got excellent value for my money from Susie! I had my engagement pictures done yesterday and chose to go to Susie for hair/makeup based on the great reviews on Project Wedding. Let me tell you, Susie delivered AND THEN SOME.

1. Pre-appointment - She was so helpful in giving me detailed information on how to prepare for the appointment. I never felt like I was "bugging" her with my millions of emails and she always responded PROMPTLY. I felt like I was a priority.
2. My appointment was at 1p and I got there early and she was already there and ready to go! Punctuality scores BIG POINTS in my book so that was great! Also, timeliness....we only had about 1.5 hours to do both hair/makeup and she did it ALL perfectly in the time alloted. If you have a schedule, Susie will make sure you're on track!
3. Susie was direct, honest, and asked great questions. I barely had to do anything but to sit back and enjoy my session! I really enjoyed how she talked about what she was using/doing before she did it. It really made me feel at easy and like I was in the hands of a professional (which she is!)
4. Personality - Okay, this is a subjective comment, but I think Susie has one of the best personalities EVER. I felt immediately comfortable with her as did my sister (who came along to keep me company). Susie is funny, sweet, and she really gets to know you and I felt like she was a good friend! We clicked instantly and I think this is super important when you have someone 3 inches from your face looking at all your pores. LOL.
5. Finally, my hair/makeup stayed during the ENTIRE session. I was so pleasantly surprised! I have a very oily T-zone so I was skeptical that I wouldn't become Sgt. Shiny Face halfway through my session. I was WRONG! My makeup remained pristine thoughout all 2.5 hours of shooting. I didn't even have to use the blotting papers Susie so kindly gave me! PLUS, we did our engagement session all over downtown LA...we were running arond everywhere and let me tell you, it was a work out! My hair was perfect the whole time and I love how Susie gave me incredible volume without too much poufiness. She's brilliant! I was so exhausted after the photo session, I fell asleep without washing my hair and TODAY my hair is still curly (and I normally have SUPER straight Asian hair)

Bottom line: Go to Susie if you want good value, a friendy professional, and someone who will exceed all expectations. I recommend her.....5 stars! :-)

After a not so successful hair & makeup trial, I looked online and found Susie & her team. I read amazing reviews and set up a trial. I was so happy & relieved that she really captured what I was looking for and I got a big thumbs up from my fiance (at the time) who loved my hair & makeup trial with Susie. She was so easy to work with and made me feel comfortable. She also was so receptive to any comments or feedback that I had-which really wasn't a lot because I was so happy with what she did.
On my wedding day, Susie did my hair & makeup and she brought Vanessa who is awesome to help her do my mom, mother in law and 2 sister in laws. They were great-everyone was really happy with their hair & makeup. I got SO many great compliments on my hair & makeup and I was happy to see in pictures that my hair & makeup was still looking perfect at 4am!! That's almost 12 hours later!!!! I would recommend Susie & her team to all my friends. Thanks to her I looked exactly how I wanted and was so happy on one of the most important days of my life :)

I had my engagement session, trial session, and wedding day makeup and hair with Jackie.

Engagement session: When my makeup was done, I thought that the makeup was too heavy because I was not used to having such heavy makeup on. Jackie advised me that I should have my makeup done in such manner, and I'm glad that I listened to her. The pictures turned out really well. We had an extra long engagement photo taking session (from 10 am to 6 pm), and my makeup and hair still stayed on really well.

Wedding day: All my bridesmaids, my mother-in-law, and I had our makeup done with Susie Chhuor Hair. Jackie brought one helper with her. I was really satisfied and so were my bridesmaids. We had an early start since they were really booked that day, so we started at around 7 am. It makes a significant positive difference to have them travel to you on the day of the wedding. I felt really relaxed, and my close friends were able to all hang out together while we all got ready. Just like the engagement session, my makeup and hair stayed intact till our evening reception that ended at 10 pm.

I would strongly recommend Jackie. She made me feel really comfortable the day of the wedding. I would especially recommend her if you are Asian. I have had experience before with places where they made me way pale or just didn't know how to handle Asian makeup.

I was very impressed by the make-up and hair-styling that Susie Chhuor did on my wedding day. I had another make-up artist and hair stylist who cancelled on me less than 2 weeks to my wedding. At first, I was very stressed out at the prospect of finding a replacement for my wedding day, given the tight time-frame. I soon found Susie on the internet, and promptly contacted her. As soon as I met her, I felt at ease right away. She was very assuring, proffessional, communicative and had a great eye for what would suit my look. She saved me! I love her!

On the day of my wedding, I received a lot of compliments. Everyone said I was glowing. Susie had created a natural yet dramatic make-up look for me, and did a fantastic job with my hair as well. Being someone who doesn't wear a lot of make-up, I felt comfortable with what Susie did. The make-up lasted all day, even though I shed some tears at the ceremony. I had my hair and makeup done by Sunny La of Susie Chhuor. Sunny was very friendly and worked with me on a few different styles when it came to doing my hair. Since the first hair trial didn't work for me, (hair was too curly, but the curls were at my request), Sunny was nice enough to do a second trial at no cost. This was a huge plus as our wedding budget was running thin at this point.

On our wedding day, Sunny and her assistant arrived at our hotel on time and ready to go. Me and my bridesmaids were very pleased with their services! I still receive compliments about how great my makeup looked that day!

I had the honor of receiving a free hair and makeup session from Pa Kou from Susie Chhuour studios for my boudoir pictures. She was so friendly and easy to work with. Even though it was a free session she put a lot of time and effort into my look. My hair looked gorgeous and held really well throughout the night. I love love loved my makeup. I wish I could bring Pa Kou everywhere with me to make me look that beautiful again and again. I also have to mention how gentle she was while applying the makeup and doing my hair. She constantly asked my opinion and wanted to know if I wanted to make any changes (which I didn't need anything changed). I felt completely comfortable with her. Wonderful to work with was able to handle additional people on the day of the wedding. Easy to discuss my looks with and open to changes. Everyone commented on how pretty my makeup was. everyone in your bridal party made me feel a part of the day and was more than happy to be a part of your big day!

Susie and her team did a fantastic job on my make up and hair, as well as make-up and hair for the bridal party. All the guests remarked on how well my make-up turned out and when I got my photos back from the photographer, the wedding make up turned out so natural! I picked her because I knew that she would do make-up well for asian girls like me, but her team did an amazing job on the girls. The only sad part was that since they came a little early to do the make-up and the girls still wanted to eat, the lipstick they used on them wore off and they had to bring their own. They all wish they had a little package of touch up make up like me. Try to request one if you can, because they make up is wonderful. Even if the extra touch-up kit may be extra, it would be well worth it!

It was very important to me to find the best hairdresser for my wedding and I did. During the last month prior to my wedding I found Susie Chhuor Hair. I called her and met with her immediately. Susie Chhuor Hair is not only talented, she's also professional, responsive, and very sweet. She did my friend's hair too at a wedding and it looked beautiful and lasted all night.

I had Sunny for my make up and hair, I liked her work so I booked her right after my trail.

The reason for 2 star rating is because she was 1.5 hours late on my wedding day. I was upset that I wasn't able to take too many outdoor pictures since the sun sets earlier now.

We paid for her to stay from 1 to 5 which is an extra two hours; she offered to come back later that night at 8:30PM to update my look because she was late. She ended up return at 9 and stay for 30 minutes for my make up and hair change; but I still need to pay in extra 2 hours fee.

Susie is wonderful! She's a joy to work with and her skills are unmatched. I've gotten my makeup professionally done about a dozen times, and Susie is by far the most skilled. My hair and makeup stayed picture perfect for my entire wedding and reception (and honeymoon night)! And she made sure that everything she did was exactly what I wanted every step of the way. The result was a gorgeous and timeless look that I will always appreciate. She also explained everything she was doing and using and absolutely made sure all my makeup and hairstyle needs were being met. And the icing on the cake was her affordable pricing. I would have paid a lot more for everything she did.

The makeup stayed put the whole day (all 12 hours of it), and looked the same when we got to our honeymoon suite as it did when Susie first put in on in the morning. Even though the makeup stayed on, it didn't feel heavy or caky. The hair stayed put as well. I got MANY compliments on my hair.
Another good thing about Susie: she is punctual, which is more than I can say for some of my other vendors.

I booked Susie to do my hair and makeup for my wedding. It was a great experience - Susie is friendly, appproachable and professional. Despite the fact that I didn't have a trial session (which made it much more difficult for her, having to do my makeup/hair from scratch), she was able to translate my rather vague descriptions into a natural and light look that I really liked. Like others, I note that her rates are more affordable than other comparable high-end makeup artists, and her stellar work is certainly excellent value. She was also a very positive and reassuring presence on an otherwise stressful day!

My groom swept we away to a wedding in California at the Wayfarer Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes in December of 2009. I was thrilled to get married in such a beautiful place, but at the same time fearful for my vendor choices since we work and live in Colorado.

I did a quick search on the Internet and found susie's webstie, and liked what I saw. I was able to keep in touch from afar with multiple emails. I always received a response to my questions within a few days. We set up a trial two days before the wedding with Jackie, and what a wonderful experience. She was 20 minutes early to the studio and made it a great experience. She was open to giving her insight as well as making changes to my hair and make-up at my request. I walked away from the trial knowing that I would be beautiful on our special day.

On the day of the wedding Jackie arrived ten minutes prior to our time, and she even called me to let me know she was at our hotel. Being early was a big plus, as that was one thing I always worried about. Jackie was simply wonderful...I wish I could take her with me everywhere I go to do my hair and make-up. My hair and make-up were perfect, and it showed in our pictures. Everyone kept telling me...I can't believe how beautiful your eyes look (I said it was thanks to Jackie). Jackie also took the time to do my maid of honor's hair, and at last minute she asked if she could do her eyes...and her reply was "Sure, No problem". Once again she was beautiful. Jackie is calm, caring, open to ideas, and talented beyond measure. Sure I may just be a Colorado girl, but she made me look like a beautiful California girl!

Susie was great. I have super difficult curly hair, and normally most salon stylist don't understand it, and really do a bad job styling my hair. Susie was very understanding, and she let me have my say in how i wanted it done. She did a great job, improving on what i had in my head, and i looked even more beautiful than i could of imaged.

Susie and her team were wonderful to work with! Very punctual and efficient! Even without doing a hair trial, Susie nailed my wedding day hair in excellent manner and even tho i was running about 20 minutes late, Susie and her team glammed me and my bms up in no time flat!

Even from the sweat from dancing AND from the many many many tears of joy I cried all day and all night! Even still, my makeup stayed on and didnt get ruined by my tears! I'd definitely hire Susie Chhuour and her team again for any occasion that warranted pro makeup again! Susie and her team were professional, arrived at my hotel EARLY, and did a spectacular job on everyone!

Susie is hands down one of the most underrated makeup artists around!

From other wedding forums, there are alot of "bigger names" being thrown around - but I'd take Susie over all of them everyday.

Susie is highly talented and really listens to what her Clients want and is a professional in every sense. She has experience in film / TV shoes as well, so she knows what will photograph and video well.

Susie was absolutely wonderful and did a fantastic job for myself and my bridesmaids. I sometimes waited an extended period for email responses, but nothing outrageous. She's incredibly talented, and because of that, obviously quite busy. I highly recommend her services.

working with Susie was great. She was so easy to work with and was VERY punctual the day of the wedding. I also love that she gave me a touch up kit to keep with me throughout the wedding. My only regret was not asking for some eyelash glue since one of my eyelashes started falling off during dinner. I unfortunately had to take them off because it was just hanging on by thread. other than that 1 little mishap I LOVED my hair and everything else. Would definitely hire her again for another event.

I booked an appointment for a trial run with Jackie Jang. Before I went in, Susie asked me to email pictures of what kind of makeup and hair I wanted. I chose a sexy messy updo and Asian movie star look and I absolutely LOVED the results.

At my wedding at Castle Green Hotel in Pasadena, I had Jackie and her assistant work on location on four of my bridesmaids' hair and my mother's makeup. My bridesmaid's nationalities ranged from Filipino to Caucasian to African American, and they all had curly hair, in contrast to my straight long black hair. That is quite a range! Jackie and her assistant were incredibly versatile and were able to make everyone look AMAZING!

Susie Chhuor was very professional and upfront about all costs (it's posted on their website), so you don't have to worry about unexpected bills. Susie was very good about confirming everything that I wanted done and was prompt at responding to emails in case you have any questions.

On the day of my wedding, Jackie suggested putting white flowers in my hair because I didn't want a tiara and she was absolutely right to suggest it. The flowers worked beautifully. The trial was a fun experience. I think I was a fairly laid back bride to be so I didn't really have any thoughts for hair & make up. Trust was key element in my experience. Susie is hip, fun and professional. But more importantly, her staff Makeup artist - SUNNY is fantastic!

For the day of - - Sunny arrived with an assistant, Vanessa. My friend of honor and mother are also not so picky, so things went very smoothly. Sunny & Vanessa were professional, calm and got the job done. The price point is excellent for the services they provide. I say, "Book them!" You won't regret it and don't forget to tip well. It was great having her and her team for my wedding day, not only did they do a good job on everyone's hair and makeup, they created a really fun environment and really eased up the tensions and nervousness.
