Tagas entertainment is who my fiance and i have chosen for our DJ and lights. Meeting with the owner of the company was wonderful! Bryan is such a nice guy and extremely helpful. He answered all of our questions and did a great job explaining everything to us.

First, the positives. CMG, now Tagas Events- Bryan has very reasonable mid-tier pricing and demonstrated a great attitude when we met him. We initially hired him for lighting, then we added on AV equipment and asked him to make a "Growing up" slideshow for us to present at the reception during dinner. When we started having problems with our first DJ, Bryan was eager to help us out. He took a phone call early in the morning once and cleared his schedule at the last minute to be our personal DJ at the wedding rather than some random person who works for him. These aspects saved Bryan from receiving an absolute F rating. Other things working in his favor were that he didn't charge us for the items that caused the biggest problems for us. He also did a wonderful job with the magenta uplighting he created in the ballroom; it was quite spectacular and truly gave us real ambiance and mood and helped create an elegant yet festive atmosphere. One final noteworthy aspect was that he actually did some live scratching/mixing at the reception, which many of our guests noticed and commented on.Here are the problems that are inexcusable for someone who owns his own business, and who charges a professional price for what you would expect translates into a higher degree of competence:1) The "growing up" Slideshow. After much fumbling around and wasting 30 min of our reception time, we figured out that he wasn't able to play this- totally frustrating since I personally had spent 10+hrs collecting and scanning in the 75-80 photos that were used to make it. At the end of the day, The facts are: a) Bryan didn't have a backup disc of the slideshow on hand at the reception, b) he didn't bother to check the disc to make sure it worked before he left the office that day, and c) he didn't have it saved on his hard drive as a backup. Finally, d) He didn't give us a reason for this major failing on his part other than human error. He did refund the fee for the service and offered to make us 16 discs at no charge to send out to friends and family.2) Didn't play the songs we requested and which we wrote down for him explicitly on the detailed wedding planner we filled out for him. It was definitely our mistake to not micro manage him; in hindsight, I should have dictated almost the entire play list to him. On the paperwork we filled out, I believe we had only 8 songs that we wrote down that were personal requests. When I asked him why he did not play either anything from Tribe nor from the Fugees that my fiance requested on the paperwork, Bryan replied that he never said anything to him that indicated he was upset about him not playing it. Hmmm, I guess it's the groom's job to chase after the DJ for not playing our requests at our reception? And when I asked him why he didnt play the two house songs that I requested he play during the last half hour, he proceeded to go into the semantics of the verbiage I used on the paperwork. That basically it sounded to him like we were giving him permission to play songs that "sounded like" what I wrote down for him. Regardless of how ridiculous this excuse is, the songs he played at the end are a complete different sound and genre from what I requested. And If your customer bothers to write down anything for you in any semblance of a request or guideline, don't you think you should just do it?3) Bryan disregarded and ignored our instructions regarding the timing of our first dance. He cut off a whole segment of our choreography that we spent $700 and 2 months planning and rehearsing. Leo even met with Bryan in person the week of the wedding (they had actual face time that week) and told him very precise things about the timing (ie, at 3:08 time and at a certain line in the song, we separate, I dip her, etc.). Still, he ended the dance well before it was supposed to be over. His excuse was that he saw two dips, so he thought that was his cue. The first "dip" was actually a lambada roll. Knowing this could be confusing to someone not familiar with ballroom dance, Leo gave him more explicit instructions at an in-person meeting, in addition to precise timing of the music. We thought it was foolproof. Obviously we were wrong about that.4) He butchered the father-daughter dance, "Isn't she Lovely" by stevie wonder. This song is pretty notorious for the obnoxious baby crying at the beginning which every wedding DJ knows needs to be edited out. My dad and I are on the dance floor, dad says- "oh you picked that song, well what about the crying baby at the beginning?" Me: "dad, everyone knows about that, i'm sure he edited it out" At that exact moment, cue annoying crying baby. Bryan told me later that he did indeed know about it, that he did cue the song ahead of time in his computer, but he pressed the wrong button. Really amateurish and not behavior you would expect from a supposed professional.Good luck if you have booked him. I do not have any confidence in his abilities whatsoever. I will let the above review speak for itself.

It some times took a few days to get a response, and I was a client at a time when they were spliting from the parent company, so sometimes it was hard to get a straight answer....at the point I only dealt with the owner Bryan.

I used Complete Media Group for the DJ service (Bryan) and for lighting. They both were excellent- Bryan kept the party going, played great music, and was a great Emcee! The lighting he did was wonderful and added something extra to the event!
