Judy is a master at what she does - the cakes and pies we had at our wedding were beautiful and totally delicious. Not only that, her prices are unbeatable!
Judy was wonderful. I love her passion for the work/art that she does. It was so much fun to hear all of her ideas and taste all of the different curds and things that she makes. We had 3" tarts for everyone at our wedding and they were beautiful! The fresh fruit/berries looked marvelous and the tarts were so much more refreshing than wedding cake would have been on that warm August afternoon. I ordered WAY too many but that's not Judy's fault at all. I wish we had been around the week after the wedding to stuff ourselves with all of those lovely left over tarts!!! Tallant House was wonderful and is probably the best match for you if you're looking for something unique, beautiful, and tasty too. Enjoy!
Overall, this cake looked great and tasted even better! We had many comments from our guests about how delicious it was! Judy was great to work with, she was very flexible and had some great ideas. It was a little more pricey than other wedding cake vendors. But, we really wanted to do a different flavor than the standard wedding cake. I'm happy we did, because it was delicious!
Judy makes the best tasting cakes! (and I've tasted a lot of wedding cake) The cake tasting with my fiance at Judy's house was by far the most fun wedding planning activity. She pulled out tons of flavored mouses, sponge cakes and curds and we spent the afternoon making flavor combos. We decided with two flavor combos, one berry/pistachio and the other chocolate hazelnut. The cutting cake was a small three tiered display decorated with ribbon and fresh berries. We also had two larger sheet cakes that tasted the exact same and but cost a lot less. I can't wait for the one year anniversary when we get a mini cake!
Judy's cakes were BY FAR the tastiest cakes we sampled when we were trying to decide on a vendor for our wedding. Her unique combinations and lovely designs made her the ideal choice for us. We finally decided on a hazelnut cake (in which she uses actual ground hazelnuts in the baking flour) with poached pear (in pear liqueur) mousse and caramel mousse layers, with buttercream frosting covered in crystal sugar. It was AMAZING and everyone loved it. Judy also provides us with an "anniversary cake" that we cannot wait for!
I contacted Judy fairly last minute and with limited information. I was at a point where I just wanted someone to "take care of it" and she did! We gave her a simple theme (Bees) and she created the most beautiful hive cake. She even used our recipe that has been in the family for a long time. I couldn't have asked for a better cake!
Judy did a great job on our wedding cake. We had small tarts and little desserts along with a six inch round wedding cake to cut. All the desserts were wonderful. the cake was amazing. Great quality for a great price. Everyone at the wedding was in heaven when they tasted these desserts. Highly recommended. I would definately use Tallant House again for any event or party. I can't wait for our one year anniversery cake so we can have it again. AWESOME!!!! The desserts were elegant and put together it was beautiful. They were a big hit. I was sad there weren't much left over to take home.
Delicious lactose-free cakes! Multiple tiers & lots of flavor choices. When we first looked for a lactose-free wedding cake, we could only find Vegan cakes. But after trying several, we just did not love their flavors or textures, plus they could only do two tiers or it would collapse. The big chains like Safeway & QFC will not/ can not do lactose free, & even the few small local bakeries we questioned would not do them. Judy was not only willing, she had experience making them. She met with us initially to do a tasting & it was so nice to finally be given LOTS of choices in fillings, cake flavor, frostings & all lactose free. Her unique cake style that emphasizes several creamy flavorful fillings instead of lots of bread-y cake was also a strong selling point. We ended up with a lovely light creamy, three tiers, hazelnut, and cappuccino cake (which we never could have gotten if we went with vegan style). Things did seem a little disorganized as she never had time to get together in person to do a final tasting of all the layers & fillers together or see the decorations ahead of time so it ended up thrown together at the last minute, but I was more concerned about taste & was very satisfied.
Update: Past one year now & she hasn't contacted us about our anniversary cake ... I guess I should call her but it feels odd to have to request a service that she already received money for & I feel 'naggy'. Well it's my first (hopefully only) marriage so this may be standard operating procedure for wedding cakes. If you can't handle disorganization think twice.
Set up a consultation and booked the same day. I came into the meeting with a magazine cut out of the cake I would like to have, we actually decided to do a false cake and do two different sheet cakes. Everyone raved about the cake (both taste and looks). We didn't even have to save the top layer because we will have a free one made for our one year anniversary (no nasty freezer burnt cake for us).

Judy Tallant is amazing! Not only is she a fun person to have involved in the process of planning a wedding, but her creations are absolutely divine! We did a few tastings of local bakeries, Tallant House being the final one. As soon as we left her kitchen and got in the car, we both announced that she was, by far, the winner! Not a doubt about it.
She kept in close contact with us throughout the next few months, making sure everything looked just as we envisioned. She was flexible with her delivery times and her pricing couldn't be beat! She offered reassurance and a sense of humor during the last few weeks... which was unexpected and so awesome!

The most delicious cake! We got to customize exactly the flavors we wanted, and we still get people telling us they loved our cake! A little more expensive than the bargain-basement variety, but completely worth it.

I can't eat Judy's cakes. I have to devour them! Although it is difficult to cut up the pieces of art she creates! Judy's commitment to quality ingredients and gorgeous presentation down to the pedestal is why she's constantly winning awards and receiving great press. Aside from her cake, Judy is just a great lady you should meet.

While she specializes in French artisan style cakes, I must say that my favorite treat she crafts is her homemade marshmallows! The flavors are endless and it's the perfect ending to any event!

I eat a lot of cake! Boy, do I eat a lot of cake. Sometimes, I think that's why I became a wedding photographer. Very often I find that wedding cake is only one of the two following things; It is gorgeous to look at OR it is delicious to eat. Rarely is it both. Judy at Tallant House has conquered them equally. Her cakes are absolutely stunning to photograph. There is always a crowd gathered around when it is unveiled. The best part though ( I told you I love cake) is after the cake cutting. Her cake is flavorful, moist, and truly amazing. If you have Judy create the wedding cake of your dreams, be prepared to have a few extra slices available for this particular photographer to take home!
As a wedding photographer, I attend lots of weddings, most of which I take one bite of cake and quit, since they are not worth eating. Of all the cakes I have tasted, the ones from Judy Tallant are far more delicious, moist, and rich than any that I have ever eaten. Our own daughter got married in 2008, and we insisted that she buy from Tallant House!! At weddings I attend, it is a rarity that a guest will not finish all of their slice of a Tallant House cake. These are the only cakes I have seen that are more "beautiful" on the inside (taste) than their beautiful exterior.
