The manager named Norman "sucks". He is a ride person, nasty, he pick food with his infers during the event, he does not know how to talk to the customers and the staff. The best of these place is the staff and Mather Ds. Alvin was my maitre D, he was amazing and very helpful. Thanks to this person I had a good time, however managers do not know how to their job.

It was a beautiful night. My bridal attendant and maitre D were great.
I however did not get the cake i asked for , and my cake topper was not put together. I also asked for a cake cutter, and was told it would be provided to me, and when it was time to cut the cake we were given a butter knife. HOWEVER those were the only issues. Everything else was wonderful. BEAUTIFUL atmosphere. Gorgeous view.

The worst service and professionalism ever, the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful just like the manager and the head staff.

They wish to do nothing but stand there and watch as you struggle to have arrangements done on time. Even after booking certain halls they double booked one of the halls for another party even though we paid full money and we booked a year in advance. They have the most disgusting mannerisms from the head staff Norman himself. Norman is absolutely the nastiest and rude person you will ever meet, with no reason at all for him to be that way. I would strongly urge anyone who wishes to have a party there to reconsider just for the reason that you will not at all appreciate the belligerent attitude and unhelpful and disgusting staff that we had to endure. Please take my advice wisely as I wish to save others the disappointment I had gone through for my wedding.

What you dont know is that since you cant actually read the details of the plans, he only tells you 80% of what you are paying for and then on the day you are "suprised" with this generous gift...which isnt a gift at all. He admitted this to me.

The worst part of Norman is that once you have paid him, you will never get any service from him again. We made the mistake of paying him 2 weeks before the wedding in full and we never got to see or talk to him again."

I absolutely agree with this review above and would like to also add that they guzzle money like no other.

We had our wedding at Terrace on the park on July 8, 2011, for approximately 100 people, and it was all that we could hope for. It took us over a month to find the right venue but Terrace was our top choice. It had beautiful grounds, with spectacular rooms, and what seemed to be a friendly staff at first. Though we dealt with different account managers the one constant face was Normans which was a comforting factor during a stressful time. Everything that was promised to us upon signing the contract was delivered to the best of anyone’s ability. Our Matre’d and bridal attendant (Pedro and Alyssa) were wonderful. They were pretty much the last minute wedding planners that we needed and were so helpful and friendly. In addition my guest raved about the food the venue had catered.
In the end Terrace on the park gave us the wedding that exceeded our hopes and dreams but kept within our budget. We would do it all over again and wouldn’t change a thing about this venue! Thank you Terrace on the park.

Everything about the place and staff is top notch. As soon as I saw the Penthouse view, I knew there was no other place like it. Upon entering the hall there is a beautiful mirrored staircase where you can take amazing photos. You take the elevator up to the top floor and you walk into the room to see a beautiful crystal chandelier above you. The high ceilings and the marble floor are spectacular, and the floor to ceiling windows with the views of the Globe right behind us was indescribable. If that wasn’t enough, the quality of the staff’s service is beyond words. Our Banquet Manager was Norman and he was a dream to have servicing us. He provided us with an impressive package that was well within our budget and throughout the process he was impeccable about making sure everything we wanted happened just as planned. He followed up with us until the day before the wedding and each time he met with us he remembered everything that we had request. My husband requested several extras to be added to the menu and they were all provided on the day of the wedding. Our cocktail hour was outside on the terrace with views of Citified, the famous Arthur Ashe tennis stadium and excellent view of NYC including the Manhattan skyline. All of our guests had a clear view in every direction to take beautiful pictures. Our guests kept telling us they had no idea this place even existed in Flushing Meadow Park. Most brides chose LI or Manhattan for a wedding. I really suggest more people come to see this venue and check it out. Lastly, we had the most unbelievable Viennese hour, ice cream bar, hot stations, chocolate fountain and our cake was beautiful! Pretty much all I told my florist to add flowers, and it came out amazing. Our guests were in awe! There was so much food..all of the children were so excited..
There are so many picture opportunities, On the well-manicured grounds there is a large gazebo, you are right in the middle of Flushing Meadow Park with the Globe within a few minutes, there is a beautiful mirrored staircase, upstairs in the Penthouse the views are incredible.
My bridal attendant was super sweet and really worked hard. Our maitre d’ even made sure that I had all my wedding items at the end of the night and even carried it all out to our car for us. We could not have asked for better service and attentiveness. Weddings can be really stressful and so much can go wrong if you don’t have the proper vendors and staff in your corner. We can say, without a doubt in our minds, you cannot go wrong if you choose Terrace on the Park for your event. Our wedding was absolutely perfect thanks to the amazing staff at Terrace on the Park!...
I would rate the staff and well as the catering hall excellent. They really went out of their way to make our day special.

I had my Reception there on 9/25/2010. I saw another bride wrote her review of her reception on the day after mine...funny how our experiences differ.
Initially when I decided to use Terrace, I met with James, who was very pleasant and wonderful. Most importantly we were on the same page, however and a few months in I had to continuously call in order to make arrangements for my tasting. Each time asking for James, eventually I was told James was involved in a bad car accident and that someone else by the of Bruno will be taking over. Okay I met him, he seemed okay..he wasn't James. But he was quite the talker oh boy..I should have known from then. I had a party of 400 guest. They told us that they would not be having another party in they next room that night because it would be chaos. Granted it wasn't, however, during my party as we were doing our speeches, we kept thinking that my guests in the back were being rude because they couldn't keep quiet turns out it was not our guests but the noise and chattering was coming from the other wedding NEXT DOOR. Next, I was told I would have TWO attendants with us in the bridal suite, we had one girl (poor thing) she tried but there were about 16 of us and just her. There was another guy who was around a lot, however, I do not remember his name. Somehow he had become suddenly in charge of my night, instead of Bruno. Whom by the way I never saw. My guest couldn't find their names from the seating chart, our dinner was almost two hours late, which I then demanded to talk to Bruno but he was no where to be found so then they sent me Mark (Blind guy) to speak to me about it and he offered us an extra half hour on our night. At this point it is already 11 pm. Finally our dinner arrived and most of it was cold, yes COLD. The waiters were disrespectful even to my mother and I wish I knew that then. They put out cups for coffee but never served it. The one good thing about the evening was that our guest enjoyed cocktail hour for the tasty food and I'm almost certain had dinner been on time and not cold they would have felt the same. I was highly disappointed by they difference of service that we received before and after our last payment was made. Its your wedding and you expect to get exactly or even close to what you pay for..Especially when its not a $25/plate venue. I don't know that I can say for certain that its just the way that Terrace on the Park is, or if its just certain employees there but I definitely would not recommend it. After my wedding, I tried to get in contact with Bruno..but, of course, he was always busy and put someone else to handle my call as he did with me the night of my wedding.
I am happy, of course, that our guests were understanding and tried to make the best of the night despite the shortcomings of Terrace on the Park.

I got married just over a week ago at Terrace on the Park. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful, but this was in SPITE of the venue.

Since booking at Terrace on the Park over a year ago, I've worked with four catering managers. The one in charge is blind; the rest all string you along so that you think you're "covered."

My husband and I planned every detail of the wedding to make sure our guests, family, and ourselves would feel comfortable and happy. Though we all danced and had an incredible time, I cannot explain how disappointed, angry, and hurt I am by what Terrace on the Park did not do that they promised.

We had a three page list of things to do and how to do them. We also had a list taped on the outside of each box we gave Terrace on the Park with directions.

Though I asked time and again to talk personally with our day-of coordinator, I was told that I shouldn't worry about those things and it would all be covered.Apparently, the Matr' D was never given any of this information. What did that mean?

That meant my bridesmaids set up our seating cards fifteen minutes before people arrived. That meant that my crippled mother-in-law did not have a chair for her during the ceremony to sit in. That meant that there was no table for our ceremony until our rabbi got there to literally carry one over, put down our wine, tallis, ketubah, etc. That meant that the sign in books we had made specially for each table were put on top of candles and burned before the reception began. That meant our musicians did not have chairs. That meant the surprise anniversary cake we'd gotten for my parents was put out with our wedding cake. That meant the bags we had made for children were lost. That meant our ceremony programs weren't on the chairs of the ceremony. That meant there weren't enough chairs during the ceremony. That meant we were never directed when to walk during the ceremony and our entire wedding party walked at almost the same time. That meant that on a 95 degree day, we were not offered the option to use a different room at all.

All of this also meant that, instead of doing anything during our wedding to help us get all of this done, the Matre'D, James, was missing and showed up to ask me questions and demand more money. During cocktail hour, there were not enough chairs, and the Matre'D told me if I didn't want people in the reception room, I'd have to get them out of there myself.

I am absolutely still floating on Cloud Nine, in love with my husband, proud of my bridal party for pulling this off, and happy with what came. But, I do hope that anyone looking into using Terrace on the Park seriously considers their decision.

During the wedding, we had 2 attendants. One woman and one man, the woman was very nice, but it was obvious that I was sharing an attendant with another party, but I paid 100% of the cost for him. He was no where to be found after the 1st 2 hours.

The place is beautiful, and the food was good wedding food. The bartender Lloyd was absolutely the best.

The biggest problems came when I had to ask Norman for the remainder of our wedding cake. My wife and her mother-in-law asked the male attendant to save the remainder of the cake and just put it in the back of any car. Now this was a $2000 cake and there was plenty of it left. After trying to get a hold of Norman, he told me that it was the attendant who asked my wife and mother-in-law if we wanted the cake and they said to "throw it away". When I told him I was standing right there, he told me that I could come in and question them myself and that I, my wife and mother-in-law were lying.

Cake is cake...We wanted to keep a small part of it and then donate it to the church so their shelters could enjoy our happiness..ok...but how about this:

In that conversation, Norman tried to tell me that we owed him for 2 more people. That we had underpaid and it was his good graces that he allowed the wedding to go forward because he was a nice guy. In fact we OVERPAID by 8 people and I had to argue with him until he blamed it on the "money guys". I asked him how I recover the extra I had paid, and he said I couldnt. I tried to make logic of this, but it IS on the back of the contract you will sign. When you turn in the place settings, you had better be sure that you have either exact or under count the amount of people.

...and to boot, one of the "Staff" put the main centerpiece in the coat closet because, she admitted to the family memeber in control of picking it up, that she "wanted to take it home, because it was beautiful."

Go in with your eyes open. I am trying not to let this ruin what was a beautiful event...ruined by an unscrupulous sales guy 1/4 of the time I paid for of an attendant and a few sticky fingers staff.

While I encourage anyone with the stamina to do this, Sorry Norman, but I was the test of my group of 6 couples within the next year to be married, and I will tell them not to use you in hopes that you are forced to retire for tainting my wedding.

Earlier this year (2010) when we visited Terrace on the Park for the first time, we knew it was the place where we wanted to get married.. and we did. We picked the location for various reasons. First, our banquet manager was very personable and pleasant. He walked us through the entire process of planning a wedding and gave us advices and ideas in addition to making sure that our event was planned the way we wanted it to be. The food was great and plenty. The veiw from the penthouse level was amazing. We were blessed to have had a beautiful weather on our wedding day in June, 2010, and all our guests got a chance to see the manhattan skyline as the backdrop of our event. On Queens side, we also enjoyed the view of Cififield, the famous Arthur Ashe tennis stadium, and the Unisphere of Flushing Meadow park. The ballroom was nothing but extravagant and elegant with beautiful chandelier in the center of the dance floor. Our sweetheart table setup was beautiful with a view of outdoor scenary.

We loved our wedding at Terrace on the Park. All the staff did a wonderful job and we were very pleased with their services. The only one thing that we regret is that we used the florist that was recommended to us by Terrace on the Park. While Terrace on the Park did not have anything to do with our decision to use the florist (Charles Florals of Astoria, NY), we wished we did a better research of the products and services that Charles Florals offered. The florist at Charles Florals did make a beautiful sample of our centerpieces and made wonderful promises, but, on the day of our wedding, the actual centerpieces and other flower decorations were not done as per the contract and per the promises. The bridesmaids bouquets did not look fresh by the afternoon.

This is the one day that you will remember for the rest of your lives together. While Terrace on the Park did a beautiful job for our wedding, Charles Florals did not live up to our expectation and the contract. We do recommend Terrace on the Park, but please, for your sake, be careful if you ever even consider to use Charles Florals.

The pictures on the websites and the actual locale vary-just like Grand Prospect they have a "minimum" guest requirement for their nicer rooms. The staff here, is much friendlier and personable

I would definitely recommend TOP -- there are on top of everything in a timely manner-- as long as you do your part in your planning process. Overall happy --except for minor situations.

We had our wedding on December 27, 2008. Upon coming back from our honeymoon and talking to family members, we learned that despite the great time that was had by almost all of our guests, we probably had the least amount of food at our wedding than any we have attended (at least 7 in the past 3 years) – How mortifying!

Mark, one of the banquet managers explained to us that we would “get it all" but what we left understanding and what we actually got was two different things, especially at cocktail hour. We thought, as with most halls, you get some stand alone tables with varieties of food along with butler service. Instead, we had butler service which was disappointing, but would have been okay if they had more than two servers for over 180 people. We found out after our honeymoon (since we left the next day after the wedding) that many people were starving and that is why our attendants promptly ushered us upstairs a little before 8pm to begin our entrance. There were not enough servers (only two our guest can attest to) and therefore, the food only went to a select group closest to the kitchen door. As the bride and groom, you have no idea what is going on upstairs, especially because they are taking care of you (of course) but they did such a poor job at taking care of our guests and being accommodating throughout the evening. It is not your guests' job to complain about staff that has ignored them, were rude, or for there not being enough food. Even during dinner, there was only a salad, the meal (no appetizer) and a piece of cake. Afterwards, when we spoke to the manager, he said someone should have told him the guests were hungry. The manager was present and a Maitre' De to ensure things went right, it was their job to gauge the situation, this shouldn't have happened.

My husband and I are big on food and I always look forward to a cocktail hour (that’s usually the best part). We never asked Mark to skimp on food or tried to get the price down by cutting out extras. We are both educated and should have realized that the contract was somewhat ambiguous; unfortunately our previous wedding experiences and the charisma of the manager had us too trusting and comfortable in their capability. For us to walk away thinking we are getting one thing and get only butler served hors d' oeuvres is mind boggling. At $122 per plate, talking to him, and going to weddings that were much cheaper, we feel we have been taken for a ride.
RECAP
1) No stations during cocktail hour (or the basics you will receive at any other LI hall -see, Floral Terrace, Jericho Terrace, etc.).
2) Don't go by what Terrace’s website says! You would assume you get many of the things listed there because they should say optional, but it doesn’t.
3) Non-attentive staff (would not maneuver around tables that were too cramped – for instance, plopping down two rolls and not placing the rest on other side of table – brought out bottle of salad dressing and squirted a salad that was called dry by a guest).
4) Not accommodating any take home requests (my dad with kidney trouble asked to take his meal and was denied – you pay for it, why not?)
5) No water at tables. Hard to get wait staff to bring them.

We ended up having a great wedding regardless mostly due to our FANTASTIC DJ Elegancia (it was one great party) but we are embarrassed in knowing how our guest were treated that evening.

The best choice I made was having my wedding at Terrace on the Park. Our banquet manager, Frank Pacheco, was exceptional in every aspect, from helping us plan our reception to the actual night of our wedding. We were given so many options to choose from and with having a wedding of 250-300 people, it can be overwhelming when trying to please everyone. But both managers, Frank and Mark, helped us wonderfully. The night of our reception was extraordinary. We had a full cocktail hour and our family and friends informed us that the food was delicious and plentiful. With about 250 people everyone was taken care of. Once we got into our reception the food never stopped. From the beginning to the end we were waited on hand and foot. We never even had to ask for anything, it was brought to us even before we could ask. Frank Pacheco did a wonderful job in overseeing everything. And the view....what a view...breathtaking!! Once we returned from our very long honeymoon, our family and friends informed us of the great time they had. They told us that they were very pleased with the food, service and entertainment. Our wedding was last years most memorable event for us and our family and friends. I owe it to Terrace on the Park for making that happen. With spending about $100 a person at 250 attending, it was well worth the money. I would highly recommend Terrace on the Park to others.

Stay Clear of Terrace on the Park. The wedding we attended there was a lot fun. The view was great & thats where the WOW factor ended. Our friend paid $120 per person & had to pay the tip for everyone in advance to the banquet manager. The banquet manager not only did not work the night of the party but stole all of the tip money. The cocktail hour consisted of prepackage frozen Costco appetizers such as pigs in the Blanket, empanadas & chicken on a stick. The main course was a buffet which we had to serve ourselves with no one there to help or to check up on how it was going. I eat almost anything including truck stop food, chucky cheese, golden coral & enjoy it. This food was so bad I refused to eat it along with every single person at our table. Desserts were Costco desserts that were so old they were soggy & gross.

Most of the bar is stocked with top shelf liquor but watch what they pour. I asked for a strong cosmo for my wife, they used the lowest grade liquor & it was 80% cranberry juice. The entire night they used only the low grade stuff. I drank a lot of water that night & every glass (8) I had to beg for it while the 2 waiter/bus boys for our area hid in the darkened cocktail area goofing off. To leave a carafe of water was not only unheard of but the one time I asked the bar tender for water, she got the goof offs. They came out & only poured water for the 20 year girls at the tables & ignored all of the empty glasses sitting in front of everyone else. The grand finally was I watched one of the workers steal the flowers at the table next to us then a girl in the wedding party caught her & had to chase here down before she hid them. conclusion: It was the most expensive, worst food, worst service, most watered down drinks & sleaziest wedding places I have been to.

Not an everyday wedding catering hall, they're much more than that and exactly the reason why they are not flexible as others. You pay for the wow factor when your guests go up and for the open bar - the bar was nothing short of spectacular. Just get seasoned vendors with them and everything will be great and wonderful.

Terrace on the Park was a great location to have my wedding. They were very acommodating. My uncle who is 83 needed a special dinner and it was not an issue. Half an hour before the wedding I changed my mind about having the ceremony outside. Instead I wanted it done in the chapel becasue it was so hot. They move everything without my guest being very aware of what was going on.

When I first saw Terrace on the Park, I was really excited. The Banquet managers were great- Bruno, Brian, and Marc. They told me that they would take care of whatever it was I needed. I would have 2 Banquet managers, a Bridal Attendant, and at least a number of other members of my bridal team to make sure my reception would be a success.

Had I known that they would not be as attentive as promised or that many things would have gotten messed up, I would have either chosen another location or made sure that I had a wedding coordinator.

Let me tell you what they did:
1) I had two cakes- my wedding cake and the groom's cake
They did not refrigerate my wedding cake and by the time my reception started, it was lopsided.
They accepted and signed for my groom's cake, but there was no sign of it at the party. They claim they didn't have it!!!!!

2) They were told to please take care of specific things and of course by the time the reception started- they were not taken care of. And when I needed the tasks to be done, my "bridal team" was either not around or not paying attention to me or my husband. In the middle of the reception during my lopsided cake-cutting!

3) They threw out half of my decorations before the night was completely over requiring me to pay my sash vendor extra money for the lost sashes. When Terrace on the Park was asked about the sashes, they had no clue where they were or what I was talking about.

4) They threw out the top layer of my cake.

5) My guests cameras were stolen. One guest caught one of the waiter/busboy in the act and was able to get it back.

My husband and I look back and realize that we made a big mistake. We gave the tip to one of the banquet managers ahead of time and we feel that because they had that money, why should they have gone out of their way to care.

I will never ever recommend this place to anyone again!

What you should know is that all the money you pay for "banquet captain" "Maitre d" and "service staff" goes directly in the general manager's pocket and is split among only a handful of managers! The poor kids who work thier tail off to make your event memorable night do not get a dime of your tip! so if you want to tip, put it directly in thier hand or they get nothing. If you dont believe me just ask the staff!
