What a perfect day, the food and the weather were all things you dream about. However, we chose the Altamont Manor because we felt even if the food and weather were not perfect, the Manor would be. We wanted a country feel to our wedding that still carried a classy vibe. This place was the perfect combination of the two. The place was clean, the outside was well manicured, which if you go to see the property you will know that is no easy task. The Altamont Manor was also flexible in our catering as we hired a caterer that had never worked at the manor before. Harvey met with them separately on several occasions to make sure our day ran smoothly.
Harvey and his wife Donna also did our photography. If you're at all skeptical about hiring them for this important task, I can assure you that photography is not simply a hobby for this gracious couple. They were professional in every sense. They are flexible in what they shoot and can meet any of your wants. While we have not seen all the photos yet since the wedding was only a couple days ago, the ones we have seen are amazing.
Harvey and Donna are great hosts and I would recommend this place to anyone on budgets large or small. Harvey was an excellent host that had the ability to show that he had the experience of hosting thousands of weddings before, while making us feel like ours was the most important one he had ever done.

Our story with the Altamont Manor starts more than 40 years ago when it was a restaurant owned by Harvey Vlahos’ parents. My husband and I chose the restaurant for our wedding reception because of the warmth and hospitality we received each time we visited there and also its natural beauty. When my son’s bride to be asked me if I knew anything about the Altamont Manor---she was looking for an classic outdoor wedding in a beautiful country setting---I knew immediately she would fall in love with it. I took her there just to show her where it was and to see the view (we didn’t make an appointment or expect to stay beyond several moments) and Harvey Vlahos welcomed us as if he had been expecting us. The bride-to-be was so taken not only by the beauty of the venue (even better than I remembered) but by Harvey’s graciousness and warmth the first time we met that there was no point in looking further.
As you will find in other reviews here, Harvey does not disappoint in what he promises and what he delivers. Flexibility, hospitality and attention to detail have become an art form. He knows how to make the day absolutely perfect and it is. Even when he is working with a caterer that has not catered at the Altamont Manor before, the event from beginning to end is absolutely seamless because he makes it so. It was as perfect an occasion as any I have ever attended (and I am a perfectionist.)
Because of the natural beauty of the setting and the attention to detail that Harvey and his wife provide, the occasion comes off as very high end. Despite working with a relatively modest budget, the wedding was both classic and classy because nature provides the most amazing backdrop. And where mother nature leaves off, Harvey and Donna pick up with their amazing hospitality and responsiveness. The value is outstanding and the wedding was beyond our collective dreams.

I was married here in October 2012. I was in love with this venue from the moment we drove up to look at it last November. It is one of those places where you drive up and say, "wow". The manor itself is gorgeous and the grounds are beautiful. Harvey Vlahos and his wife, Donna, really have the perfect venue for a classic, classy, wedding.
At our first meeting, Harvey gave us 3 options for where to hold the ceremony depending on the type of weather we had on our wedding day. When the weather turned questionable on the day of our wedding... he came up with a 4th which was perfect... still outside but not down where it was too wet due to the rain the night before.
Harvey is essentially a venue owner and wedding coordinator in one. He is a wealth of knowledge as he has been hosting weddings at his place for more than 20 years. Harvey answered every question I emailed him and always responded to phone calls quickly. Harvey and his wife made sure the grounds were gorgeous and absolutely everything went smoothly throughout the entire wedding day.
Harvey and his wife are also photographers. They worked in tandem to make sure that they'd catch every detail of the day. They work with you to generate a list of shots you want - not just the generic wedding photo shots. The shots I've seen so far are amazing. They made us feel very comfortable the whole day and they weren't intrusive when they took photos throughout the ceremony and reception.
We had 102 people at our wedding and the venue was PERFECT. We held the ceremony outside, the cocktail hour on the beautiful wrap around porch and the reception inside. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

We loved the location. It was very beautiful and it would have been much better if it had not been raining. The downsides would be that when we originally viewed the location they had a beautiful trellis up in the garden but when we went to view the location with the photographer a couple weeks before the wedding they had a simple arch up. Harvey told us that the trellis should be back before the wedding but could not give us a definite answer. 10 days before the wedding we found out they were still deciding on the color and the day of the wedding the simple arch was still there.
We were also unhappy that when we originally met with Harvey he told us that if we wanted to see the location on the day of a wedding it would be possible but he would have to ok it with the bride and groom however on our wedding day while we were setting up he was showing the location to another couple and had never asked us if this was especially since he was showing it about 1 hour before our wedding and we were taking pictures.
We would recommend this location due how pretty it was but we were not happy with the owner.
Vendor response to review
On the one hand we are heartened that Bryan and his bride found The Altamont Manor a beautiful location for their wedding. However, the issues of dissatisfaction merit a response. The trellis that had been in place for years was destroyed by a severe wind storm. We had already been contemplating having another trellis made and had actually been working with someone to create a replacement. In a happy coincidence, one of our grooms for 2013 is an artist that works in metal and we are having him hand craft a new trellis that matches an antique trellis that we have at the entrance to the gardens.
We were determined to make sure that the new trellis was finished properly. That involved finding the right combination of color and protective coating. We decided to go to the extra expense of having the trellis powder coated, which is a process that is like an automobile finish and will look good for a long time. However, most cars have high gloss finishes, which would not be appropriate for an antique looking trellis. So when Bryan states that we were still deciding on the color, the actual situation was that we were trying to find a manufacturer that had the right combination of color and finish. We finally had to go the extra expense of a custom finish.
We did indeed inform Bryan that we hoped the trellis would be finished, but there we no guarantees. Getting the trellis finished depended on the manufacturer and the powder coating shop's ability work it into their schedule. Unfortunately it didn't work out for Bryan's wedding, but it wasn't for lack of trying on our part. And based on his comments that The Altamont Manor is a beautiful place it would seem that their wedding was a wonderful event.
The area where wedding ceremonies are held has a beautiful pair of mature trees that actually form a natural arch. In our early years, ceremonies were held under the natural arch. However, rather than have no trellis for the two weddings in between the old and new trellis, as we did in the past, we went to the expense of buying a trellis to use for just those few times and it was this trellis that was the backdrop for Byran's wedding. We made every effort to make Bryan's wedding memorable and judging by his other comments, we succeeded. It's disappointing that the review centered on this point, especially since we made the extra effort to buy a trellis for use just two times.
Addressing Bryan's other point, couples rent the Altamont Manor for five hours. We provide couples the opportunity to come early and take photos at no extra charge. This courtesy on our part gives couples the extra time for more photos and can be done without all the guests in the background. Many venues do not do this.
Some couples want to see a wedding set up and in progress, ( I stress "in progress") and in those situations we do ask the bride and groom if they would mind. We ask the perspective couple to dress appropriately so that they "blend in" and the visits are never more than five minutes. If memory serves, Bryan and his fiancee wanted to see a wedding in progress.
Altamont Manor weddings are five hours. The time before and after the wedding are used as we deem appropriate and necessary such as set up, clean up and other activities such as showing prospective couples the facility.
That last hour before a wedding is a flurry of activity, with caterers scurrying around in their work clothes, (before they change into their waitstaff uniforms) my grounds staff is putting the finishing touches on the venue, the DJj is setting up etc. None of this activity interferes with any photography and occurs at every event. I would emphatically state that my walking around the dining room and the grounds with two other people in no way interfered with Brian's photographs.
I would also point out that we had an extra meeting with Bryan and his photographer, which most couples do not do, and I helped the photographer find good spots for pictures. My wife and I also do wedding photography at the Altamont Manor and are keenly aware of the process and would never do anything that would interfere with a couple's wedding photos.
We are somewhat puzzled and disappointed by the issues that Brian chose to comment on, in light of the fact everything else was, to quote Brian "We loved the location. It was very beautiful." I would encourage readers to keep this review in perspective with the other many reviews.

My daughter chose the Altamont manor for her special day, and I was impressed with every aspect of the experience. Harvey has a smooth and professional demeanor that helped so much when the bride and groom had a last minute case of nerves and did not want to come out of the bathroom at ceremony time! The grounds are beautifilly manicured, and the porches, the bar, dining room are all just wonderful. We choose Nicoles Restaurant and Catering, and they were equally professional and very accomodating. I would recommend the Altamont Manor without hesitation.

My son and daughter in-law ( Kenneth & Ashleigh Newkirk) were married at The Atamont Manor on Sunday, September 9th, 2012 and they had a beautiful day. The owners (Harvey & his wife Donna) were a pleasure to work with. They were very professional and very accommodating to all of us. We had a total of 110 guest and had plenty of room. The Manor offered a beautiful setting and we can't wait to see the pictures. I would highly recommend this beautiful place to everyone. Patricia Newkirk

The Altamont Manor was the first place that we looked at for our wedding. We met with the owner Harvey and decided that day to book the Manor. It was absolutely perfect. You basically rent the Manor and choose your own caterer. We had the Turf Tavern provide the food and set up our wedding reception. The food was delicious and many guests commented on it. We had Richie Phillips as our DJ. He played the keyboard for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then DJ'd the reception. It was perfect! Harvey spent a lot of time meeting with us to make sure that we had every detail planned out. He was available by phone or email when we had questions. We even were able to meet with him several times to discuss photography and other wedding details. Harvey and his wife were our photographers. They took hundreds of great shots - in the flower garden, in the woods, sitting on the bench and so on. My family and friends were extremely impressed by their attention to detail and to making every shot count. For your future events, I would say that this is a very intimate and personal location. The reception area is the perfect size for less than 150 people (to leave room for a little dance space). I could not have had a better experience. Please meet with Harvey and see for yourself! You will not regret it!

When my son and future daughter-in-law were looking for a wedding venue, they wanted a place where they could have the ceremony and reception at one place. One of the wonderful features of The Altamont Manor is that the ceremony can be moved from outside to inside or reverse in a matter of minutes before the event. With most places you need you to decide 24 - 48 hours before the big day. Mr. Vlahos and his staff are fabulous to work with. He is always so calm and in control of everything that he makes everyone around him more relaxed. We had several placed lined up to look at. When my daughter-in-law saw the beautiful gardens at The Altamont Manor, she was sold! We never even look at anywhere else. The fountain and gardens are in a shaded lovely area that was more than comfortable even though it was a very warm, August day. When we arrived for the rehearsal, Mr. Vlahos had an army of workers mowing, pruning, sweeping and raking the already fabulous landscaping. The view and wonderful breezes from the Helderberg Mountains make and every picture taken breathtaking. The indoor dining area is an addition to the beautiful original manor house that looks like it has always been there. It blends so nicely with the house. I would highly recommend The Altamont Manor to anyone looking for the perfect wedding site.

Harvey at the Altamont Manor was very attentive to all of our needs. He insured that everything would get taken care of promptly. It was an absolutely goregous place to have a wedding!

We couldn't have been happier choosing the Altamont Manor. We found the Manor online and decided we wanted to check it out. The place was gorgeous, even though we had to make a decision after seeing it only in the winter. Harvey, the owner of the Manor, was a real pleasure to work with. You can tell he genuinely cares about every wedding held on his grounds and has plenty of experience with them. He sat down with us and laid out everything prior to booking so we knew exactly what to expect. He was very straightforward and worked closely with all of the other vendors that we chose to make sure everything came together on our wedding day. He always responded to emails same day and was very easy to reach by phone throughout the entire process. We had to plan our wedding from across the country, but Harvey was very flexible and made it easy to get in touch with him via email, phone, and sit down meetings when we flew to New York.
We also chose Harvey as our photographer since he had the best prices out of anyone else we looked into and had a great portfolio to show us when we visited. The day of the wedding, everyone in our wedding party was instantly at ease and felt comfortable taking pictures with Harvey and his wife, Donna. Harvey has a lot of experience with photography at the Manor and knew exactly where to take the best shots. He even brought us to the Altamont Fair after our reception to take some pictures of our wedding party on the rides which was a blast! We had a lot of fun doing it and the pictures that are already coming back to us turned out beautifully! Throughout the ceremony and reception, Harvey was around taking lots of pictures but was very unobtrusive and we hardly noticed him running around us.
Overall, we highly recommend the Altamont Manor to anyone looking, not only for the beautiful and well-maintained property, but also for the quality of the wedding planner you receive with it. You will not be disappointed!

The Altamont Manor was the most perfect venue!! Harvey is amazing at what he does and I never had to worry about a thing. It actually rained on our wedding day...half way through our ceremony and I was not even phased. Harvey assured me that he had backup plans in the event of inclement weather and he came to the rescue. We had a lovely intimate (rest of our ceremony) inside surrounded by our family and friends and it was PERFECT. We looked at other venues that were not nearly as beautiful and nearly triple the price!! None compare to the Altamont Manor and no one had the experience with weddings that Harvey has. Just wonderful!!

Hello, This is Jack Covey father of the groom. I know it is easy to swipe a five star rating. It only takes a flick of the mouse. But, in all honesty Altamont Manor deserves five plus!
I was impressed the night of the wedding rehearsal on how helpful and flexible Harvey was in aiding us with placing our sound gear and providing us with the A.C. outlets needed for a smooth operation. The courtyard is an awesome place for the wedding ceremony we had everything we needed.
Unfortunately, the next day, Friday, the weather did not co-operate and we had to move everything inside. Harvey waited right up to the last minute before switching to the inside mode. I don't how he does it so smoothly.
Even though it was pouring outside the wedding was one of the most beautiful weddings (even though it was one of my kids) I've ever seen.
From photo settings, changing rooms, extra chairs.... ever little detail...Harvey had it covered.
Harvey is very patient and can keep things moving without being pushy. He never looses his smile and never gets upset. He is a gentleman.
I am very pleased my daughter-in-law choose the Altamont Manor as the place to have her wedding. It is a beautiful building and makes you feel like you stepped back in time.
Im a guy so I can not explain the finer touches like a lady could. I'll just say that I can recommend Altamont Manor. It truly is a FIVE STAR business in my opinion.

The Altamont Manor was the first and only place we visited while looking for a venue for our daughter’s wedding. Harvey has a top notch facility and his professionalism was impressive as he stepped us through what we could expect from a wedding at the Altamont Manor. The building is amazing and the grounds were meticulous. His calm demeanor, attention to detail and his focus are always on what the customer wants out from their wedding. Harvey and his wife Donna acted as our photographers as well and were excellent in this capacity as well.
Both the caterer and videographer worked weddings at the Altamont Manor in the past and had nothing but high praises. This is one of six weddings in my family this summer. My daughter was one of five cousins getting married with a few short months. Weddings and planning are a hot topic when family gets together. When all costs were added in and compared with the others, Altamont Manor was a great value. The Altamont Manor is very distinctive. It is far cry from a typical wedding at a banquet hall, yet the fees are not exorbitant compared to the uniqueness you get with the beautiful Victorian Home setting. In addition, Harvey acts as an in house built in wedding planner.
Overall everything went as perfect as you could hope for. My greatest compliment would be that I would love to be at a wedding at the Altamont Manor as a guest since this experience was as Father of the Bride. I would love to have the pleasure to just sit back, enjoy and take everything in.

My son recently had his wedding at the Altamont Manor and to say it was enchanting, is an understatement! We were fortunate enough to have the ceremony outdoors and the scenery, grounds and gardens created an intimacy that at times, felt surreal. The processinal, leaving from the gorgeous victorian veranda, across the lawns and down past the gardens and fountain seemed like something from a movie set. The tree sheltered ceremony space served to further enhance the feeling of intimacy, making a perfect setting for the vows.
The entire venue has a charm that is often lacking in many other wedding venues. Even the indoor reception space, with its pane glass windows overlooking the beautiful gardens and Helderberg mountains, has a simplistic elegance.
Upon our first visit with Harvey, the owner, it became clear that he has a wealth of knowledge concerning wedding planning in general, but more importantly, he has a clear vision of how his venue can optimize the wedding experience. Thie first impression created a definitive confidence in choosing the Altamont Manor.
Harvey, along with his wife, also offer their photography services; although it is just an option. After seeing samples of their work and listening to the again, clear vsion for the use of the space and grounds in photos, we knew it was the correct choice. Both Havey and his wife were excellent to work with in this regard, being creative, yet unobtrusive. They worked from different angles and locations, assuring that shots wouldn't be missed. Additionally, they offer an unique opportunity for the bride and groom, along with their bridal party and parents, to arrive early for photographs. This allowed for a relaxed, unrushed experience and for the wedding couple to fully participate in all the aspects of their reception. Additionally, in our case, it calmed the pre-wedding jitters, grounding the bride and groom before the ceremony.
Harvey seems to have an excellent report with the caterers, DJs and florists, so the coordination of these services seemed easy. While he does have suggestions for the use of the space, Harvey was flexible and ameniable to requested changes and on the day of the wedding things were just as we had asked. The week of our wedding, he was generous with his time and consultations and the wedding day was seamless from start to finish!
I would highly recommend the Altamont Manor as a unique and intimate wedding venue!

Our wedding was perfect. Harvey is very organized and extremely professional. He has a great sense of humor and is very flexible and open to suggestions/new ideas. He has a great deal of experience and can offer suggestions for other vendors and any other apsect of a wedding. The venue was reasonably priced, but there were additional charges for items that, in my opinion, should be included (chairs for ceremony, dance floor, lights on porch, etc). There were a couple of times where I had to wait several days (even up to a week) to get a response (via email) back. Despite the 4 star ratings for responsiveness and value, the Altamont Manor is a 5 Star wedding venue. We couldn't have asked for anything more!

My daughter and her fiancee only looked at a few places for their wedding. They wanted to get married and have the reception at the same venue. When we visited the Altamont Manor they both knew it was perfect for their wedding. A June wedding was scheduled and roses were in bloom, the lawns were beautiful and Harvey promised me it wouldn't rain. It was raining all morning, but as promised the rain cleared out, everything was dry and the sky was blue. Harvey had everything so organized there was nothing to worry about and the ceremony and reception were perfect. Harvey even assisted our photographer, who was a great friend and doing this as a favor, to help him set up pictures. Not one thing went wrong and the bride and groom were so happy, it was perfectly suited for them. Harvey treated us like family and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. We would recommend the Altamont Manor to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place for a wedding. Harvey is a true gentlemen and wonderful planner.

I almost hate to rate all five categories with 5 stars, because it seems like maybe I just rushed through and rated everything 5. But, Harvey and Altamont Manor truly deserve all 5 stars in all 5 categories.
Quality of Service:
I can't imagine a better experience with this. Harvey treated my wedding like it was his own daughter's- he gave honest feedback and opinions about everything I proposed to him- which was so helpful since he has tons of insight into the wedding world. I joked with my friends that Harvey is me in a different body- I am always getting teased for being a type-A, OCD, crazy list-maker. He was just as on top of all the teeny details for our wedding as I was, maybe even moreso, which previously I wouldn't have imagined was possible. He is extremely organized and detail-oriented. He will make absolutely sure that every detail for your day is taken care of. He's someone you can trust to just take care of everything without having to check on it. It was a very comforting feeling!
Responsiveness:
The longest I ever waited for a reply to an email or phone call was maybe 6 hours- tops. I think that says it all. Usually he would call me first, because he anticipated the questions I hadn't even thought of yet.
Professionalism:
Harvey and Donna (his wife, who helped take our wedding photos- they are photographers as well as owning the Altamont Manor) were both extremely professional, but not beyond being really friendly. They were professional yet also made us feel as comfortable and close to them as if we were an old family friend.
Value:
Honestly, we fell in love with this venue right away, so we only looked at one other before booking. So I don't have a lot of other estimates to compare it to. But, based on what I've heard from others, and how amazing the wedding was, I feel like the value was incredible.
Flexibility:
I think what sums up Harvey's flexibility most was that he allowed our two pit bulls (who he hadn't met at the time, yet never judged them based on common misconceptions of the breed) to not only be in our wedding ceremony, but also to stay on premises (we didn't want them in the reception room and didn't ask if that would be ok) during the reception so that no one had to leave the wedding to bring them home. I think that sums it up. But, I will say, he was extremely flexible to the point of not compromising the quality of your wedding. I think if we had requested something that he thought would compromise the wedding, he would have explained why he wouldn't recommend it, but then allow us to do it if we still wanted, to a certain point of course. And I would appreciate his opinion because, being so experienced in the wedding business, he would have more experienced opinions than me and would probably think of things I never would.
Overall:
Harvey, Donna, and the Altamont Manor were amazing. I would recommend them to anyone, closest friends and family included. We truly had a great experience there. Through the year and a half of planning, up to the actual wedding day, Harvey made everything so easy, and so perfect. I highly, highly recommend this venue!
Thank you Harvey and Donna! We couldn't imagine a more perfect day!!

As the mother of the bride, I was very impressed with the Altamont Manor! Harvey was so exprienced with weddings that he helped make all the arrangements easy for us. He recommended caterers & DJ's, which was a big help. He & his wife Donna were the photographers & we found them to be wonderful to work with! They knew all the perfect spots for photos, using the best of the lighting & landscaping. They offered ideas for casual in-the-garden shots as well as more traditional poses, always with an easy going manner. We loved their idea of having all the bridal party & guests gather near the building after the ceremony for a shot from the 2nd floor porch! We can't wait to see the pictures! Our daughter chose to do many of the pictures ahead of the wedding ceremony- I would highly recommend that to new brides! It allowed them to relax & enjoy their guests at the cocktail hour. We arrived at the Manor in the early afternoon for the 5:00 wedding ceremony, so there was a lot of time for photos & relaxing a bit before the guests started to arrive. They set up the "first look" photo on the porch, with the groom on the porch & the bride walking out of the door. They even caught the bride's maids peeking out of the side, glass doors, ready to snap their own pictures with camera phones. During the reception, Harvey & Donna took many pictures- they seemed to know right where the best shots would be. When our groom's family surprised the couple with a special dance number, they were right there taking pictures of it. It was a wonderful experience dealing with them! Perfect location, perfect people- they made it a day we'll always remember!

Right when we walked around the corner of the house and saw the gardens, we knew the Manor was perfect for our wedding! Harvey was available to answer any questions we had at any time. He not only served as the location vendor but he is also a built in consultant. He was able to provide us with names of other vendors (florists, catering, dj/musicians, etc) that have worked at the Manor and was able to advise us on who would work within our budget. He also worked really well with our minister and dj to make sure the rehearsal and wedding went perfectly smoothly. With the Manor and Harvey you just don't get a location for the wedding you get a personal touch and personalized attention to help make sure your wedding is everything you dreamed it would be. With him it honestly didn't feel like he was working for the money, but working to make sure we were happy with our wedding day. I would recommend the Manor a billion times, over and over again. I hear so many people say planning a wedding and the wedding day is super stressful, but with Harvey working with us...our day was perfect. We loved every minute of it and appreciate everything (big and small) that Harvey did. It was everything we dreamed it would be. Thank you Harvey!

My husband and I had our medieval style wedding at the Altamont Manor on August 27th, 2011 and we also hired Harvey and Donna to do the photography for the event as well. From the first time we met with Harvey to discuss the photography we found him to be charming and down to earth...very easy to work with..straigtforward and honest. Although he does offer many photo packages, he is not pushy and we never felt like we were going to end up spending way more than we budgeted for. On the day of the wedding, Harvey and Donna were a delight to work with! They were so creative with the formal shots, and since they own the manor they really know the best places to shoot and set up the photos. During the reception they were always present, but never intrusive, and took some wonderful photos!! And, we had the proofs back in only 4 weeks!! We are absolutely thrilled with the service that Harvey and Donna provided and would absolutely recommend them without hesitation!

The Altamont Manor was the perfect place for our wedding. Harvey was wonderful, and everything went out without a problem. The setting is absolutely beautiful and ther is no other place like it!

My husband and I had our wedding at the Altamont Manor in June of 2011. It was beautiful! It is perfect for a small summer wedding outdoors. We had our ceremony in the garden (though they do have back up plans in case it rains), and then a cocktail hour on the porch/lawn, and then reception inside. Everything went really well and we had many comments from the guests about how beautiful the place was.
We hired Harvey and his wife to do our photography as well. As others have mentioned, they did a great job and obviously knew the best places to take pictures since it is their property.
I would highly recommend taking a look at the Altamont Manor if you are planning a wedding for 120 or less (their max is 150 guests). Good weather in the summer allows you to take advantage of more of the grounds. I imagine in the winter it wouldn't be as worth it.
Good luck planning!! :)

A Beautiful Location, prefect for a summer wedding.
The Altamont Manor is absolutely beautiful; the grounds are immaculate, with scenic views, beautiful rose bushes and many other beautiful flowers that are ever changing for each season.
The Manor offers three plans for wedding ceremonies (in cases of inclement weather), outdoors by the beautiful fountain, on the wrap around porch (for I would say no more than 50-60 guests max) or inside.
There are 4 catering vendors that are available to choose from, while they are very reputable vendors, it would have been nice to have more options.
The owners of the Manor, Harvey and Donna, live on site. Harvey is very meticulous. He has a great attention to detail, with the exception of the noticeably yellowed tulle that is draped on the inside pillars, Donna indicated that she has asked him to change this out, and I hope that he takes that advice or removes it all together. It was a bit of an eye soar and required additional directions to detract from it.
Harvey and his wife Donna were also our photographers, and did an impressive job. They are expensive compared to other photographers that we looked into, but they know the grounds and the best locations to take beautiful pictures. I highly recommend taking as many pictures as you can pre-wedding, so that you can enjoy your reception. Donna is very relaxed and made me and the wedding party feel at ease. Harvey was a little bit unfocused at the beginning trying to direct the High school students that he hires as to what they should be doing while we were taking photos.
I looked at numerous venues in the capitol region, and overall, by far the Altamont Manor is the best location hands down for an intimate, scenic wedding of 100 or less guests.

We had our ceremony in a church and used the Altamont Manor as our reception site. The owner, Harvey, was very polite and nice in helping us get everything together. I was planning the wedding while I was out of state, so I didn't meet Harvey or actually see the Manor in person until the week before the wedding. Even with that, Harvey was great about answering my emails and phone calls, and he made it very easy to plan the wedding, even when I couldn't be on site.
Our guests were delighted with the beauty of the manor. The reception room was beautiful enough that we really didn't have to do much with decorating it.
I had an outside photographer come in for my photos, and Harvey was very helpful in pointing out some of the beautiful places for pictures.
Our wedding at the Altamont Manor is a memory I will cherish, and I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue.

LOVE the Altamont Manor. Harvey was incredibly helpful organizing the details of our wedding. He had 3 options for us for the ceremony and the venue is amazing! The property is very well maintained and it has the feel of getting married in your own backyard with a lot less work and a lot better scenery. He provided suggestions for photographs and was there all night to help organize and keep everything on track. We really can not say enough for how special this venue is and how fantastic it made our big day. Thank you!!!

My husband and I got married at the Altamont Manor in August of 2010. The venue was beautiful, and we loved how private it was having just us and our guests present without other events going on concurrently. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour outside, and dinner and dancing inside. The grounds are impeccably maintained and all the greenery made a lush and romantic backdrop, perfectly suited to the red kilted groom and groomsmen. All our guests had a wonderful time and still are complimenting us on our wedding. Everyone was impressed by the efficiency and professionalism at the Altamont Manor, how relaxed the atmosphere was, and how well the day went. In addition, Harvey and Donna Vlahos, owners of the Altamont Manor, did our wedding photography and did a fantastic job.

The Altamont Manor was such a beautiful place to have a wedding. My husband and I got married outside in the gardens and had the reception indoors. Harvey and Donna made our wedding day so pleasant and non-stressful. Between the staff at the Altamont Manor and the Caterer everything was taken care of, my husband and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. We had such a simple wedding and I couldn’t believe how beautiful everything was between the amazing flower gardens outside and the way the reception room was decorated. We also used Harvey and Donna’s photography services, they knew their grounds so well that they knew the perfect places to take the photos. They took such amazing photos that we will relive the memories forever. If you want to have the perfect, most amazing wedding, I highly recommend having your wedding at the Altamont Manor.

My husband and I were married at the Altamont Manor in July 2010. The ceremony was outside, and the cocktail hour and reception were inside. The grounds and gardens were beautiful and made for amazing pictures. There were about 95 people, including the wedding party, and the site was a perfect choice for an intimate feel. From the day we went to see the Manor for the first time to the day of our wedding, Harvey and Donna were nothing but patient and accommodating. We had many questions along the way, and they were more than willing to help in any way they could. Harvey and Donna were also our photographers, and they made it a wonderful, relaxing experience; they listened to our requests and preferences and worked with us to ensure we were pleased with our photos. Working with Harvey and Donna was an absolute pleasure, and getting married at the Altamont Manor created a beautiful atmosphere for a wedding that was above and beyond our expectations.
We have recently been working closely with Harvey and Donna to create our wedding album. There are so many wonderful photos to choose from, it has been tough deciding which to include in the album! Among the wide range of images, they created a stunning black and white fine art print for us that truly captured the mood of the day. Even before our wedding, Harvey was easing our nerves by discussing the options we had as far as family, posed, and candid photographs. Their idea of creating a list of images we hoped to capture was helpful in really making us think about what pictures were important to us on our big day. Harvey and Donna had the list out on the day of our wedding so we could go through it throughout the day; they made sure we were getting a variety of shots and that we were nothing less than happy with our pictures. My husband and I both said we’re not fans of having our profiles photographed, and they were very respectful of our request. We never felt like we were being a bother, even when we asked to fit in a few last minute fun shots later in the evening! They were open to ideas throughout the day, which made the atmosphere very relaxed. And, no details were overlooked, not even close ups of my gown minutes before the reception ended. Harvey and Donna are a great team; having two photographers throughout the day really made us feel like no moment was being missed. They were willing to take as many, or few, pictures as we wanted during our wedding. My husband and I would absolutely recommend choosing Harvey and Donna as your photographers for an Altamont Manor wedding, because their affordable prices, professionalism, and knowledge of the grounds ensure you will have a variety of beautiful and tasteful photographs to take you back to your wedding day time and time again!

There is not much to say about the Altamont Manor except that I could not have found a better place to get married. Just stepping foot on the grounds of the Manor, a bride would automatically know that it's the place for her like I did. As for Harvey, he did such a great job making that special day absolutely perfect...I did not have to worry about a thing!

My husband and I simply cannot say enough good things about Harvey and Donna Vlahos. We married at Altamont Manor in May of 2010, and we are so very glad we chose Harvey and Donna for both the venue and the wedding photography! Some of our happiest memories of our special day was how welcome, valued, and fabulous they made us feel! They made our day absolutely perfect. Not only did they help us organize and plan our event (which made our wedding smooth, enjoyable and something we could actually remember!), but the photography was simply amazing. To say they are talented is an understatement. We couldn't be happier with the photography, both the candids and posed portraits were simply outstanding. We recommend Harvey and Donna to everyone, and will continue to do so.

THe Altamont Manor is absolutely beautiful, especially with good weather, but there is a nice place for a ceremony inside as well. The grounds are very well maintained and the view is priceless. The owner lives on the site and therefore they are a little particular about what you do and don't do on your day which limits a few options, but overall we didn't find it a problem.
Our pictures on this site are so far coming out amazing.

The owner, Harvey, is incredibly organized and ready to answer any questions, everyone felt completely taken care of and he was like having a wedding coordinator without paying for one, which is always good! Not only did we have an "Option B (on their lovely wrap around Victorian porch)" if it rained day of our ceremony (and we couldn't have it in their stunning sunken garden), we had an "Option C (inside the reception space in the cake room which is surrounded practically on all side by windows)" also. The manor is full of charm and sophisticated but un-stuffy elegance, it felt like having our wedding in our own backyard, if our own backyard was full of blooming flowers (even in September!) and romantic gardens and splashing fountains. The reception area was a very comfortable fit for our 72 guests, but it can accommodate up to 100. I highly recommend seeing this place in person because their website does NOT do it justice. If you are looking for a venue that allows a brilliant variety of spaces for your guest to enjoy your wedding day, inside and out, a space with Victorian charm and meticulously maintained gardens, you won't be disappointed with the Altamont Manor

We were married in June of 2007 at the Altamont Manor. God provided the perfect weather and Harvey & Donna took care of the rest!
We still hear from guests that it was the best wedding they've ever attended.
As all we wedding people do, we "kicked tires" at a dozen (or more) reception halls while deciding on a place for our festivities and were looking for comfort, class, beauty & uniqueness...all without breaking the none-too-plump piggy bank we had to work with. From the initial meeting with Harvey we knew we'd found our home. A bonus was that after one walk through the grounds, the decision to hold the ceremony in the garden was a no-brainer.
Harvey & Donna professionally and patiently guided us through the planning process, made suggestions, were very open to our suggestions and made our stressfully important planning-proccess an exciting little project for us to work on together. Save the stress for the seating chart. :)
"H & D" were awesome with the florist and DJ folks and extremely accomodating and gracious to our guests. How they kept over 100 partiers organized and progressing through the evening's events with ease and a big smile I'll never know.
We've been back for three weddings since ours and always feel we're returning to our private, secret, special club. It's always a pleasure to see Donna & Harvey and relive a bit of "our" day back in '07 and catch up with each others' travels and goings-ons through the years. We've since been blessed with twins and the Vlahoses have been as excited to see pictures as any of our own family members. Classy folks.
The Altamont Manor? "Highly Recommended" would be an understatement.
p.s. go with the in-house photography option.
Fabulous gardens and view to make your wedding close to nature yet elegant.
The Altamont Manor is a spectular place to celebrate a Wedding Day! The Victorian Manor is beautiful! The grounds are picture perfect! Great setting for your Wedding Ceremony. Harvey is one of nicest guys in the business! 5 STARS!
As a disc jockey, the Altamont Manor is one of my favorite places to work. Harvey keeps his grounds and garden beautifully groomed. Inside, the space makes me feel like it's a party in someone's home. When I turn up the music after dinner, there's enough room for everyone to get out there and have fun. I'm not the prop and group dance type of DJ, so my style fits right in.
