Reviews for Amada Plaza

Amada will not be having weddings after this year, but I'll review anyhow. Good venue, good food, good service. My photographer voiced concern about pictures at this venue because of the glass everywhere, so consider paying extra for draping or just be extra careful about lighting conditions and your photographer. The venue is nice, though the surrounding area has a lot of construction and is an industrial area.

We saw 10 different places before we settled on the Amada Plaza, and it mostly came down to cost and convenience. As far as cost went, they had the most to offer (with good food) for the least amount, and convenience because they offer packages that have all your vendor selections built in. Plus, if you don't go with their vendors, they give you credit towards food, so it all works out. Alice was our coordinator and she was a blast to work with. She helped us tinker with every facet of the reception and was very responsive to our needs. Last but not least, it is a private facility that looks gorgeous day or night (although you wouldn't know it from the outside - looks more like a corporate facility rather than a banquet location).Everyone we talked to after our wedding said it was the most unique place they've ever been to for a wedding reception.

Our invitation lady spelled our date incorrectly!

Having a wedding in Orange County for over three hundred people is no small task. The Amada is a unique location that offers a lot for a price. That being said, there are pros and cons. You pay one price and included in that price is the food, Limo, Cake, Photographer, Florist and DJ. You can choose from Amada Vendors for everything but the food. The Limo service was excellent, Cake was okay, we used our own photographer, the florist we chose (Blooming Hills) was amazing and DJ could have been better. The DJ was a nice man but didn't follow our detailed instructions. It was not terrible just not what we had asked for. Now the Amada does give you a lot but you need to make sure that everything you want is in your contract and verify it with them if any changes are made. Get everything in writing (that is a good idea for everything you do wedding wise). Check the place before your reception just to make sure things are how you asked them to be. The staff is helpful and really work hard to help you set up and clean. The location is terrible at least right now as the freeway is being built right next door. You would never know it inside but your guests do have to find the location so give good directions.

Slow to respond during the planning stages but the service was above and beyond superb on the day of the event. This venue is absolutely beautiful for the reception and even for the wedding itself. During our first dance, they opened the skylight for us.Food tasted great and was served in a timely manner.

Overall, I was very pleased with the Amada Plaza. It's a lovely venue inside, but takes a special person to really appreciate it. I didn't care that it was in an industrial area, but some would. The Japanese-style garden setting really sold the place to me, and we had both the ceremony and reception there in the garden rather than having the reception in the typical and poorly decorated reception room.
A few nice things:
-they allowed us to bring our own wine in for a reasonable corkage fee. This was very important to my parents (aka wine snobs)
-I chose a buffet so my guests could choose what they prefer rather than getting stuck with food they didn't like. I appreciated they let the buffet have more than one meat choice, and several (I think three) salad choices.
-The drinks weren't too expensive for the guests after we exceeded our open bar
A few warnings:
-The sky/roof thing that opened up as I walked down the aisle was beautiful and dramatic. I loved it. However, it was extremely stuff before it opened and many of my guests were uncomfortable at the level of heat
-Their coordinators never called back in a timely manner, or at all. I often had to call two or three times.
