The Bushnell

The place alone is gorgeous!! The price is a little steep. We paid $3,800 for the rooftop and the ballroom. (Its includes both and I don’t think you can separate the two) Also in that price we got seating for 80 people on the roof other than that NOTHING else was included.

Now for the Pros:

-You can bring any caterer you want

-You can bring your own alcohol as long as it is served by a tabc licensee

-You get to choose which day to have the rental (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all the same price. We had it Saturday, set up on Friday all day and cleaned up on Sunday)

-The view is just as beautiful as the pictures on the website. It alone, creates an awesome atmosphere.

-The raised area in the middle was where we got married and also doubled as the reception with the live band in the evening. Can you say party on the rooftop?!

-The ballroom was one floor below and used for the dinner. It was air conditioned and had beautiful ceiling lamps and windows so you could see the view all around downtown. The hardwoods were also very nice. The caterer set up down there and there is a full kitchen to accommodate them.

You will not need many decorations on the roof because it is seriously that beautiful.

This place has the most amazing view and makes for a wonderful outdoor wedding weather permitting! We thank our lucky stars that it was a perfect day! The prce is a little steep for them not really providing anything but it is well worth it in the end. You can bring your own alcohol, caterer and live music!

Pros -
I had a lot of freedom to choose the caterer I liked and my mom and grandmother made some traditional family deserts. Great music system. The owners are a good source of ideas - they helped me find a super caterer, florist and band...but give you the freedom to use anyone you like. People tell me still how much fun they had at our wedding reception. We were married in the Trinity Chapel across the street so guests could just walk to our reception after the wedding...although you can get married on the rooftop of the Bushnell or in the ballroom if you prefer.

Cons - It is expensive, but you get what you pay for and the cost is well worth it in the end...you save so much $$ by NOT having to use "Their" caterer or "Their" bartenders...

It books fast too, so I thought about giving less stars for flexibility since they only allow one party per week. Because of this, you HAVE lock in your date quickly or you loose it (I lost my first and second choice dates...grrrrrrr) , but the benefit of only one party a week is that you have the staff only dedicated to your party...you can do set up a day in advance and come back to clean up the next day.

Overall, though, it was just lovely.

The Bushnell is the perfect atmosphere for a memorable wedding. I had an evening wedding so my guests were able to watch the San Antonio sunset like never before. It was very reasonably priced and I would recommend this site to everyone!!
