I still cant get over how perfect my cake was. The entire night i kept telling people "Have you seen my cake???!!!" It was absolutely stunning and the vendor was flawless. They called me the week of just to sort out any last minute details and the whole transaction went flawlessly!!! The cake was delicious, looked beautiful, and absolutely no worries or snags in the whole process. I had my coordinators leave my topper on the cake stand and The Cakery set it all up when they dropped the cake off. I can't speak any more highly about The Cakery. It's really too bad my caters dropped the ball and didn't serve it because i had most of the cake leftover.(People ate it at the Sunday brunch luckily) Shame on Trumpet Vine because it was a gorgeous and delicious cake. Thank you The Cakery for making my wedding cake perfect!

We used the cakery to make our two tiered wedding cake, plus our mini cupcakes. We showed up to the Cakery without a confirmed appointment, and we realized we actually caught them in the middle of trying to make some wedding cakes, but they took at the time for us to a tasting and talk with us. Their designs looked amazing in their books, and once we tasted the cake we knew we wanted to use them. Their frosting wasn't oversweet, and we were able to add Amarettto (one of our favorites) to one of the cakes, and the sea salt caramel on devils food chocolate was AMAZING! People raved at our wedding about the cupcakes. We were very happy.

I was fairly disappointed with our cake and the services provided.

It was a beautiful cake, however, there were some mistakes made. My cake arrived a half an hour later than we were told it would. Also, I had sent custom ribbons worth about $60 to be used in the bow on our cake, when the cake arrived it had the WRONG RIBBON on it... My mother was smart enough not to let me see it or interact with the cake lady. I was told that when the error was pointed out she got "snippy". My mother sent her to the store I had gotten my original ribbon from and she got new ribbon and replaced the blue and orange ribbon with black ribbon... I had sent a red ribbon to be paired with a stiff, lace black ribbon.

In the end the cake looked good, it just was not what THE BRIDE had envisioned, been promised, or payed for. She did what she could to fix the error, however I feel as though it was a large error considering I payed $600 for her...

Cakery was amazing. Our cake and cake bites were absolutely delicious and we didn't have any leftover after the wedding. The unique filings and moist cake - there's nothing better. We knew upon the first bite of the cake testing, that this was the place! They use quality ingredients and you can tell my the taste and texture of the cakes. Do not hesitate to order from them. The cake is great!

The Cakery is, hands-down, the best wedding cake vendor in Central California. We did a lot of tastings before we met with Linda and Yarrow, and nobody came even close to being as perfect as them. First of all, their tasting room is in the gorgeous, oak-draped hills of Templeton. You sit in a dainty room with views of rolling farmlands with some tea and beautiful books of stunning cakes. And then you taste. Let me just say that you will not feel rushed, you will not feel upsold, you will not feel hurried or pressured in any way. You know why? Because they know that they have a stellar product and it's up to you to make your own decision. We loved working with the Cakery SO MUCH. Our cake was beyond beautiful, more than we ever could have imagined, and it remains the best-tasting, most rich and moist desert my husband and I have ever had. We cannot recommend them enough. They are artists. Professional, calming, talented artists. Plus, their prices are absolutely in line with other, much lower-rated bakeries in the area. Book them early, you will NOT regret it.

Our wedding cake was fabulous. I sent in a picture and they copied it exactly! It was super yummy. We chose red velvet.

The cakery did both our Grooms cake at rehearsal and our wedding cake! I've never been a cake person but theses cakes were amazing, the best I've ever had! Not only were they so creative and perfect but they tasted so good we actually ran out of cake because people wanted more!!

Everything about our cake and tasting was wonderful. Look at the pictures on their website, they are amazing!! We got two flavors-- vanilla with raspberry/cream cheese filling and chocolate with peanut butter filling. They were both delicious!

Incredible cake & cupcakes! We had so much fun doing cupcake tasting, and ended up picking 4 different varieties, all of which were amazing. Our guests could not stop raving about them. The Cakery is well known in the area as one of the better places for wedding cakes/cupcakes, and after hiring them, we cannot disagree with that at all, it certainly lived up to its reputation!

I am overall, very happy with how our wedding cake turned out. I have 2 complaints, though. One is that I felt like every single time I called The Cakery, they were either closed or not in. I understand that there are days that they were delivering cakes or what not, but I wish that they had given me at least one more way to get in touch with someone working there, even if it was just an email address. The other thing that really frustrated me is that when I first saw my cake on the wedding day, I noticed that they didn't bring the fondant out the the very edge of the foil lined platter that it came on. I think I specified at LEAST three times, how much I DIDNT want the foil to show and how I wanted them to bring the fondant out the edge. It really brought the whole look of the cake down for me and I was so bummed because the rest of it looked GORGEOUS. Such a small detail that really made such a big difference for the overall look. I am an artist, a visual person and it really bothered me. The cake tasted great though. I just wish that they would have paid more attention to such an easy request. Overall though, the cake tasted great, it was gorgeous in every other way, and it was delivered on time.

I did a lot of research online for bakeries in the Central Coast area and The Cakery was the one I kept coming back to. My groom called to make an appointment for a tasting for him, myself and my mother. Though not hard to find, The Cakery is a little off the beaten path in Templeton in a little house on Dancing Deer Farm. When we first met with them, we didn't know exactly what we wanted, so we were able to flip through several photo books of cakes they had made in order to get a better idea of what we liked and what we didn't like. We decided on a three-tiered square cake, with a simple buttercream frosting. The hard part was picking the type of cake and fillings; they were all so delicious! In our complimentary tasting, Linda brought out all of their flavors and fillings. We selected the white cake with cream cheese and raspberry filling for one layer, devil's food with ganache and raspberry for another, and our top layer (yet to be eaten) is devil's food with Kahlua and Baileys buttercream. We wanted to do something custom on the top of the cake to reflect our personalities, so we talked to Linda about creating the squirrels from Ice Age out of fondant. She readily admitted it would be costly, and since we wouldn't get to keep them, it might be better if we could find someone to make them out of clay. We thought this was a great idea, so my husband's aunt created an amazing cake topper for us with the two squirrels sharing an acorn. However, they ended up being too large for the cake, so at the last minute, we talked to The Cakery about a groom's cake. They made a carrot cake (so yummy!) with cream cheese filling and wrapped it in fondant to look like an oak tree stump so the squirrels could sit on it. Both cakes had gorgeous fondant acorns and oak leaves cascading down. And the buttercream on our main cake was so smooth it looked like fondant. Cake is usually hit or miss at weddings...ours was a huge hit. Both cakes were so moist and the flavors were unbelievable. I have never had cake look and taste this good. And the price was great, too! Now I just need an excuse to order another one! If you want the best cake ever, go see Yarrow and Linda at The Cakery. ~Meredith & Jesse

We had a cupcake tower of three flavors with a small cut cake on top. Fabulous cake! We had the most compliments ever! Carrot cake, white with raspberry, and chocolate. They make their cupcakes from a sheet cake and have a biscuit cutter so the whole thing is moist. I don't know their secret ingredients but it is hands down the best most moist cake I have ever had.

They are kind of hard to get ahold of due to hours. But they do call you back in a timely...

Loved our wedding cake. it was beautiful, simple and exactly what we wanted. And it tasted delicious. I have dreams about it - it was that good. It's the moistest, most delicious cake I've ever had. I am extremely thankful to The Cakery for giving me a cake I will never forget.

Our cake was lovely! I brought in a bunch of photos and Linda & Yarrow took it all in and made my vision a reality! We got a ton of compliments on how yummy everything was...and from the one piece that I actually ate- it was!! I love the way it turned out and it fit in beautifully with our wedding!

Linda made the most amazing cake for our wedding! We called her up, made an appointment, looked at sample pictures, told her our colors and what we wanted, and she made the cake exactly how we wanted it. It was beautiful and flawless. She is truly an artist. AND, the cake tasted delicious!!

Linda was great to work with. She was extremely professional and it was obvious that she could do just about anything that we threw at her. After pouring over photos, designs and ideas, she did a great job creating our vision. The cake was very very good too. We came back from the honeymoon and ate it with every meal for a week. So good! I was a bit taken back after contacting the Cakery with my order request. I had already confirmed a full dessert bar men with our caterer, and then my Mom requested we have a cake for photo and symbolic purposes. Although it was a smaller order than norm (still $240), it seemed like it was a burden for them. I was immediately told they couldn't deliver it to the vineyard the day of (no flexibility) and it had to be picked up by 2pm. This was a challenge for us since all guests were out of town and pictures were during that time. Luckily, our day of planner picked the cake up. It ended up being very pretty, excellent tasting, but I didn't feel we got the same level of professionalism/service as others may have with a larger order.

Our wedding cake turned out really nice. I was concerned that it may be too plain looking since we didn't request anything too fancy, but somehow just with the ribbon, and flowers Linda was able to create a really beautifual cake. I was so excited when I first saw it walking into the reception. It looked so perfect that some of the guests asked if it was fake! Linda was great to work with, very patient at our consultation (all the cake choices were so tasty it was hard to pick!), and responsive with all of my questions leading up to the wedding.

We loved, loved, loved our wedding cake from The Cakery! The design was based on our invitations and Linda did a wonderful job of interpreting our wants during the consultation. Then Yarrow did an amazing job of putting it all together. The taste was so incredible that not a single slice was left over!! If I ever am in need of a custom cake in the SLO County area again, they will be my first call.

My wedding cake was absolutely beautiful and the many of my guests complimented on how delicious it was.

My husband and I wanted a more "fun" cake for our wedding and the gallery on The Cakery's website lead us to scheduling a tasting appointment with them. At the tasting we sampled the different flavors and they were all incredible. We also got to sit down and design the cake- something no other wedding cake maker had us do. Based on the taste and the design ability, we chose The Cakery and we didn't regret it! The guests loved the cake!

I had it in my head that I wanted a cake that looked like a real sandcastle and thats what I got! All my guests were amazed and couldnt believeit was a cake. Not to mentionit tasted fantastic!

I did all of my wedding planning on the internet, so I really had to trust the vendor. I spoke with many other services, and they all had assured me that the Cakery would do a wonderful job for me - and they did! Everyone raved about the cake - it was so beautiful! It looked exactly like the picture, and it tasted delicious! It was everything I'd hoped for.

The Cakery did the most beautiful, perfect job on my parents' anniversary cake! It was exactly as we had discussed when we ordered it and it tasted wonderful! The cake had all the elements we asked for; everyone was just blown away! I was so pleased with how they incorporated our theme of "the beach at sunset" using blue tones of water and pinks & oranges of the sky. They used some of our fresh flowers and made sea shells; everything tied together so well!

The cake was so beautiful and personalized to our vision of what we wanted. She drew out the cake on a template and we picked out everything!!! All of the flavors of cake are sooo good!! We were amazed to see our cake at the reception. It looked perfect.

The guests had mixed reviews about my cake. Though some loved the whole cake, others were grossed out by the non-sweet buttercream that can be compared to a similar texture of hard Crisco (Can Crisco become this hard?). The same buttercream that was inside the layers tasted great-appealed to be like a frosting, with the accent of raspberry. The sponge like cake was just okay, not moist, not dry-comparable to those little spongecake rounds found by the strawberries in the produce section-they taste good but need a lot of doctoring of strawberries, glaze, and whip cream.

I did have some issues regarding the communication as well. I was speaking to a women for most of the duration in planning my cake and at the last week she seemed to vanish? Maybe she was fired? Or maybe she quit? Who knows but the owner e-mailed me back and asked all the detailed questions about the delivery again and nothing seemed to flow through right, which made me worry about the on-time delivery.

I believe for the little amount of detail of pipping on the cake and the simplicity of the ribbon on the bottom of 2 tiers (6" top and 9" bottom) the price was greatly higher than the quality.

I worked with Yarrow, the owner, in designing my wedding cake. I had made an appointment in advance which had somehow slipped through the cracks. Despite that minor slip up, Yarrow was a true pleasure to work with. Both I and my fiancée tried all of the different flavors of cake and had trouble deciding between two. Yarrow suggested we get them both since we were getting a three tier cake -- problem solved! I also showed Yarrow a photo of my dress and described that I wanted it to have a sort of vintage yet classic fell. Yarrow quickly sketched out a beautiful cake that combined my desire for a classic yet vintage looking cake but also fit our beach location. We were thrilled with how the cake looked but it also tasted INCREDIBLE! Out guests couldn't stop raving how much they loved the cake. Be warned pricing for wedding cakes is much more than you'd expect but The Cakery's pricing is inline with what other bakeries in the area are charging. I honestly couldn't recommend them more enthusiastically.

I went cake tasting with a local friend, 6 months before my destination wedding in Pismo beach, CA. Tasting the cake at The Cakery was an experience in itself, and I knew right away that I had found the most delicious cake. My next hope was to determine if this venue was up to the task of re-creating the cake of my dreams from a photograph (A cake with bright Fuschia Fondant!). Additionally, I had an out-of-the-ordinary request to include script in Malayalam in icing, on my cake (the native language of my India-born husband). I was reassured that this was well within the talents of the staff at the Cakery.
On my wedding day, the cake was as moist and delicious as I had remembered it to be from the tasting- my guests are still talking about it! My in-laws were surprised and delighted with the Malayalam words in icing, and enjoyed "interpreting" the cake for our guests (the words, "forever", "love", and "destiny" were written). My only disappointment was the fondant: The Bright fuchsia color was paramount to the look of our reception/colors, and the Cakery really missed on this one, covering the cake instead with a muted, frosty, mauve fondant reminiscent of an elderly lady's lipstick. So "off" was this color from the photograph I provided (and re-emailed) that I half expected a note of apology with an offer for a partial refund. Even the coordinator at SeaVenture knew I'd be disappointed, and insisted I have a look before walking into the reception, so I'd be "prepared".
Bottom line: as long as you don't desire a Bright Fuchsia cake, The Cakery can create a cake that is both beautiful and delicious!

The Cakery was amazing!!! OUr cake was so good that people went back for seconds they were so helpful being a bride from out of town and flexible!!! My groomsman cake was amazing!!!

Little did we know we were about to get married on the hottest day Pismo Beach has seen in years. The Cakery kindly called me a couple of days prior and asked if I wanted to change from butter cream to fondant. They were concerned that the butter cream wasn't going to hold up if set outside at our reception, for a long period of time. I truly appreciated that phone call because that would have been the last thing I would have thought about! Our cake was absolutely beautiful and very scrumptious! They use real butter and the freshest ingredients...GREAT QUALITY CAKE!

The cakery makes all sorts of specialty cakes, but for some reason I couldn't use some of the specialty cake flavors on my wedding cake - I understood that some didn't stand up as multilayer cakes, but I had plenty of sheet cakes with all my guests. The flavor of the cake I did get - chocolate, ganache, hazelnut something or another) got rave reviews! They were very easy to work with and had my cake deliverd in plenty of time.

The Cakery has delicious cake, and a large portfolio of cakes to choose from. We selected a cake similar to something in their portfolio, and the cake designer we worked with did a great job of sketching out the cake and giving us various pricing options (if you don't already know, a great way to save money on you cake is to get a smaller wedding cake with a sheet cake on the side). The designer wasn't very personable, but the cake was great, and the designs were impressive.

On the day of our wedding the cake didn't arrive on schedule. Luckily for us, our wedding coordinator hid this fact from us most of the afternoon. Our coordinator called the phone contacts we had, but didn't hear anything for several hours. Finally, just before the ceremony was to start, The Cakery called to say that their car had broken down and that their cell phone battery died at the same time (sorry, but that sounds suspicious to me). Luckily, they did get another car, and delivered the cake just before the reception started.

The Cakery makes cake that is beyond delicious. I could have eaten just this instead of the meal and been a very happy lady.

We ordered a 3-tier devils food cake with chocolate ganache filling and fondant topping/design, yellow cake cupcakes with lemon curd topping and cream cheese frosting, and devils food cake cupcakes with ganache topping and cream cheese frosting. The cakes were so moist, flavorful, and tender. We had a little difficulty cutting through the fondant during the cake cutting ceremony but still tasted fab! My friends are still talking about how good the cake was.

We had a little difficulty coordinating the design remotely (we live ~150 miles from where we got married). After our initial visit and quote, we decided to change our plan. Initially, it was hard to time when I was available to call with when the appropriate staff were working (not all staff were qualified to take the order). Later, I discovered that the quote I was given was based on the original design rather than the new design (I had suspected this, though). It all worked out in the end, though, and definitely no reason to miss out on this amazing cake. I wish I could go back for more tasting sessions :)

We interviewed 5 local cake vendors for our cakes and The Cakery was head and shoulders the most professional and impressive from the start. Not only were the cakes delicious, but the designs were GORGEOUS!! I found a lot of vendors who had one, but not the other. They had both! They executed my vision perfectly and created the most gorgeous wedding cake I have EVER seen. My venue changed to Santa Barbara and they even accomodated the extra delivery after the deposit was down. I can't wait for out one year anniversary to cut in to our Carrot Cake topper......the chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and hazelnut buttercream was also a BIG hit!! Thank You! Thank You! Although my wedding cake was what I expected, the groom's cake that I received missed the mark completely...

Great cake. The cake design was exactly what I wanted for our wedding and very yummy! I'm bummed I only had time for one bite of our wedding cake at our reception!

The Cakery made the most delicious wedding cake we could have wished for. They provided a high level of professionalism from beginning to end and we always felt that we were in good hands. The greatest challenge we encountered was deciding on flavors...we ended up going with three different combinations on each tier: carrot/cream cheese, chocolate/hazelnut, and vanilla/raspberry, and were most pleased with our decision to do so. I would recommend going for a tasting at the bakery as this should assist anyone with making this very easy decision. And definitely go with the buttercream frosting as it is wonderfully tasty (fondant may look elegant, but there is truly no way for the most talented of pastry chefs to make it taste very nice). We found that The Cakery delivered on great taste, artistry, and assistance!

Hands down the best cake ever! We had white cake with fresh strawberries, chocolate with hazelnut cream filling, and cheesecake! Everyone loved it!! We got a cake for 150 people (since our wedding was 152) and we only took home six pieces of leftover cake... everyone had at least one piece! We went into the Cakery about 6 months before the wedding and did a cake tasting... then ordered the cake. It was the easiest part of the whole wedding planning!

We used the Cakery in San Luis Obispo for our wedding cake and groom's cake. Both cakes were fantastic! Everyone kept asking us who did the cakes. Many guests commented that is was the best wedding cake they have EVER tasted. Both cakes were beautifully decorated and absolutely delicious. Their carrot cake, cheesecake, and chocolate cake are to die for. We highly recommend them.

Yarrow did a great job of listening to our ideas and creating a beautiful cake for our wedding. The style and color were perfect and the cake was delicious!

We've had our fair share of wedding cakes in our lives and our cake from The Cakery was hands down THE BEST wedding cake every. All of our guests agreed with us that it was phenomenal. Our design was not conventional, we went with a mad hatter themed cake and it was executed perfectly. It had the class we wanted but the spunk that described us, it was gorgeous!

We saved the top tier and every month anniversary we will be cutting a sliver to celebrate. I can not wait for our 1 month anniversary to have a piece!

The tasting process was wonderful. These cakes all made from scratch do taste wonderful. I was most excited for my wedding cake on our big day and I was a little disappointed. The design that was drawn and what I had created in my head was not exactly how it came out. It was a white fondant cake and was to be dusted with shimmer. I thought the fondant would show the shimmer more and it did not. I would have loved a colored fondant so the shimmer showed up better (since no one eats this part). I also had florist leave fresh flowers to accent cake and topper, I felt these could have been placed more uniformally, it looked a bit rushed. My fault for not asking more questions, it's hard to go off a drawing and then not seeing your cake until you walk in the reception.

Loved working with the Cakery. We were treated so wonderfully when meeting to pick out the cake. Huge selection of styles to choose from and DELICIOUS!

I heard guest after guest say it was the best wedding cake they have ever had. The carrot cake was phenomenal.

Our cake was delicious and looked beautiful!!! I appreciated the time that was taken to custom design our cake based upon our color scheme and venue. Our guests were raving about the taste!

The staff at the cakery were so helpful. I was an out of town bride and they easily accomadated my schedule, made a beautiful and yummy cake, and helped me find a florist

Our wedding cake was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever eaten - we were so excited to have left-overs that we could eat all week after the wedding! Yarrow, the baker, was so sweet and she was very good at listening to what we wanted to and suggesting some great additions to our ideas. Even the cake testing meeting was really professional and fun - we felt like the Cakery treated us very well and did a great job for us on our wedding day.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake we decided to get cupcakes and they were so delicious and a big hit with all of the guests I talked to about them. I thought it was more fun than cake and a little less expensive too!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Cakery!! Our wedding cake was the most delicious wedding cake I have ever had and every guest said so as well! It was moist, incredible frosting, beautiful and worth EVERY penny. Yarrow, the baker, had many suggestion and worked willingly to achieve my vision and budget. From the planning to the wedding day, it was a professional and fun experience.

Well for starters I Love them, that is why I went there for my cake. They were very accomidating to all my requests. And brides here is what they did for me that is very smart, I asked for a faux layer. I only had enough guests to mandate a 2 layer cake but I wanted a 3 layer, so they were kind to decorate a thrid faux layer (styrofoam) for me to get the height and look I wanted. For any of you wanting more height but dont really need it this is smart. My cake was very yummy and very very pretty. Exactly what I ordered.

They made me a beautiful three tiered, white fondant cake. It was decorated with strawberries and 3D white fondant butterflies. I loved it and it tasted wonderful! Two layers were chocolate (top and bottom) and one was raspberry. They helped me sketch out what I wanted for my cake and they truly brought that sketch to life. They were wonderful and I highly recommend them!

**Update (07/21/08)** For our first year anniversary, we had The Cakery recreate the top layer of our wedding cake. It was marvelous! It brought back so many fond and happy memories. The Cakery did a fabulous job both times. :)

They did a good job for us. Cake was delicious from what I hear, we were way to busy to eat any. In a few more days I get to eat the cake thats been in my freezer for a year. We went back to them after signing the contract and asked them to make the cake bigger. They added a fake layer that looked just as good as the real layers. I wanted a grander looking cake without having to spend anymore money or have tons of wasted cake. The cake did start to sink before we had planned to cut it, so we had the expedite the cake cutting. Im not sure if this is a common problem on a 3 tier cake, or why it happened.
