The Catering Company
When I was scheduling and planning my wedding, I worked directly with Laura Reeves. She was very nice and wanted to help in every way she could. At times, it was hard for me to get a response out of her because she is very busy. However, at the event, the food was wonderful! Very delicious! The service was mostly okay. I was a little put back by one comment made by the girl running the event for the catering company. The reception started at 5pm ish. At 7pm she came over and asked when I thought we'd be done (keep in mind, we were staying overnight at this location). I told her the guests would definitely be cleared out by 10pm, otherwise I couldn't really say. She just looked rudely at me and said, "10??? Really??" like she was done and didn't want to be there anymore. This is my WEDDING DAY!!! We bought the whole location for the weekend. I think we were allowed to party until 10pm! Then she asked it they could clear out then and let us serve ourselves. When we paid what we did, the least they could do is stay 5 hours. Aside from that, though, everything was great!
The Catering Company of Williamsburg is one of the highest rated in Williamsburg. The food was delicious- even though it was my own wedding, it was the best food I have ever had at a wedding. The owner was so helpful in the planning process- they let us store a lot of things at their warehouse leading up to the wedding, which was very helpful since we are from out of town. My one complaint was that the owner/person I communicated with throughout the whole planning process was not at my wedding and did not communicate as well with the staff present at the wedding (timing was off, centerpieces were not set up as requested). I still highly recommend this caterer, but be sure to double confirm with the staff that will be present at the wedding.
The Catering Company did a wonderful job at our wedding! We were so thrilled with their service and how the day turned out. We got many compliments on the food and the creative displays. I would highly recommend The Catering Company for your wedding!
We were ultimately drawn to The Catering Company because of their creative presentation of food and large selection of linens, serving dishes and ability to customize the menu. From the beginning we were able to review some successful menus and convey our likes and dislikes from them. We ended up with a personal menu that fit our tastes and location.
Laura was extremely knowledgeable about our venue and came up with some great ideas for interesting flavors and dishes to compliment our fall plantation wedding. She is also extremely responsive and answered any questions we had in a timely manner. On top of that, they throw a quarterly event showcasing their food that allowed us to try many of the dishes we had selected for our wedding day ahead of time. We got some great ideas by visiting these and we were able to see all of the linens ahead of time.
The food and service was just unbelievably amazing. The serving staff are professional and courtesy and Laura does a fabulous job at working within a budget to meet your needs. She is well versed all many cuisines and always has a little something special up her sleeve. The unique food displays make her food that much more amazing. Being able to rent linens from the Catering Co. as well was a big help since they can budget the food and seating together.
The food was fantastic. Laura was a big help in coming up with the menu. The only setback was the champagne was not passed out to every guest before the toast. My MOH had to go get a glass of wine for the toast.
We had some rough patches with The Catering Company during the planning process (i.e. they did not reply to some of our phone calls and emails) but overall, we would recommend them. Because they do so many events, they definitely know what they're doing!!...but at the same time, sometimes we felt like we didn't get any "special" attention. The price was a little high but worth it - it was some of the best food I've ever had, which is more than I can say for most other weddings I've been to. (The fees, taxes, etc. really add up-make sure to plan for this in your budget!) The presentation was phenomenal, as well, and the staff were all very professional. We also had The Catering Company do our cake and it was the BEST freakin' cake I've ever had - and it looked amazing! Considering the design on the cake was based off of a ceiling molding in George Washington's formal dining room and no one else would do it, we were impressed with how it turned out. Overall, there were a few stressful moments, but I would recommend The Catering Company to friends and family...and you!
Throughout all of the wedding planning, Laura was always fantastic. She answered my emails very quickly and I never had any issues. They even handled some miscellaneous tasks for me, such as setting up the guestbook, card box, escort votives, etc. Everyone loved the food, and so did Robert and I (yes, we actually ate at our wedding!). I thought their prices were extremely reasonable, especially with all of the linens, flatware, and glassware included. Plus, you have the piece of mind of a highly recommended company! The only bad thing I can say is that they didnt set up the room exactly how we wanted (we had wanted our sweetheart table by the fireplace, but it was instead set up beside the dance floor). This was a not a big deal though, since we didnt really know how the room should be set up in the first place. It worked out nicely being beside the dance floor anyway!
A dream to work with! We got lots of compliments on the food.
I have worked with Craig and Laura for years and I can tell you that you won't find better food, better presentation, or better people to work with anywhere! They pay attention to every detail to make sure that what is served exceeds the expectations of everyone. I have also been a guest at a number of events that they have catered, and I have always been delighted by the variety of tastes, and the quantity of food. No one ever goes away hungry! They are also quite versatile and can provide pretty much any kind of food you can imagine from barbecue to fine French cuisine. If you take them your ideas they will help you come up with a feast that will be long remembered by your guests!
With catering, it is rare to find a combination of both style and substance. The Catering Company does a great job with not only the food they serve, but also the presentation. Their extensive use of props creates a mood to compliment their client's vision and enhance the dining experience. Their cuisine is consistently praised by guests and has the "wow" factor that people talk about long after.
Our company was a relative newcomer to the Peninsula wedding market in 2005. We worked an event at the Living Museum and had the pleasure and good fortune of working with Laura and the staff of the Catering Company.
I was so impressed with not only their beautiful setup and great food, but also the professional and friendly attitude displayed from Laura and everyone associated with their company.
Since then, we team up with them frequently at events in Williamsburg and enjoy each reception we work together.
A great company with great people! You can't go...
As a local florist in Hampton Roads area I had the most unique experience working with this fabulous company at a very unique Museum wedding reception! The food was outstanding and the displays extraordinary!!! Wonderful to work with!!
