Reviews for Deering Estate at Cutler

Those Deering Brothers sure knew how to live large. While James was importing Italian marble for his little winter cottage, Vizcaya, brother Charles was building this sprawling bayside mansion. The 1922 estate included… When me and my formally Fiancé visit the Venue, We knew this was going to be our venue!! The staff was the best.

My wedding at Deering was incredible. I first went to Deering when I was 12 or 13 with my father, an attorney, for a bar association event. I remember how beautiful it was in this rustic, majestic, old Florida sort of way. I decided then and there that Deering was where I wanted to get married. My own wedding day was far more beautiful than that evening and far more magical than anything I had imagined. While many brides I talk to have always had Viscaya on their minds as a number one choice, I think the Deering's smaller size and history made the affair a bit more intimate. Also, because it is rustic and natural beauty, rather than brilliant chandelier sparkle beauty, our decor really looked spectacular and was not overshadowed by the venue. The staff at Deering was incredibly accommodating in terms of flexing their normal rules to suit my vision of the wedding. I have talked to some brides that were concerned with the shabby bathrooms (it is a public park owned and operated by Miami Dade County), but we handled that by ensuring they were clean, that each bathroom was appropriately decorated with our flowers and offered a nice collection of soaps, lotions, hairspray, etc. so that it had a nicer feel for guests. We had the ceremony outside facing the water despite warnings that it had rained earlier in the day and the grass may be flooded. I decided to risk the possibility of additional rain and have the ceremony on the grass but set back a little farther than where we had planned (the grass was still a little wet). We were in luck, it did not rain and the ceremony was beautiful. It was at 5:45 in September and a little warm so we gave all the guests fans and lemonade basil drinks. The pictures show amazing yellow light falling down behind my father and I as we walked down the aisle. I highly recommend this venue to anyone considering it. Another nice thing with selecting this venue is the fact that the funds spent go back to Miami Dade Public Parks.

The venue was a beautiful. There wasn't one person that didn't tell me how beautiful this place was. For what you pay you get a really large area for the wedding. I had the cocktail party out on a lawn right in front of the water. Then the dancing was inside what they call the stone house. Which the walls & ceiling are beautiful. Then the dinner was at the courtyard right in front of the stone house. So you get a large area to use for the price. I had a lot of children at my wedding and they were able run & play on the lawn b/c it was a large area and parents didn't have to tell their kids to behave like you would if you were at a smaller venue.

Deering Estate is an incredibly special and unique venue (spectacular views, beautiful grounds and charming, historical home) and we loved every minute of our wedding there. The only drawback in service is Leslie in the event's dept. but her colleague, Candy, was wonderful and made sure our special day was perfect.

Deering Estate truly turned my wedding into a fairytale. We had many guests from out of town that ooh'ed and ahh'ed at the gorgeous scenery such as the bay, the palm trees, and the enchanting historic estate. We were lucky that it didn't rain as most of the events took place outside. The one complaint was that during Christmas season they have many christmas decorations and a huge Christmas tree in the ballroom which they did not let us remove. However, everything else was great!

I dreamed of getting married here since I was a small child and my dream came true. It is a beautiful location and the amazing views are practically uncomparable. There was a change in coordinators after I booked the event. There were some promises made to me that were not fufilled but I learned my lesson and next time I will get everything in writing! The new coordinator did try very hard to accomodate some of the requests though. Regardless the wedding turned out beautifully and was everything I had dreamed of and more. My guests came from all over the US and were floored by the beautiful venue. The value is a little off because there are other venues in South Florida in the same class and price range but offer much more amenities. Nevertheless it is worth every penny spent and it is a histirical site so you can expect to pay a little more than average.

Deering is a great venue for the wedding. Jenna was very flexible in meeting some last minute preparations. The grounds were clean and very well maintained. The walk to where the ceremony is a bit long, but otherwise the premises are amazing. Deering does has some restrictions regarding the reception so it is important to read the guidelines. All in all, Deering is a beautiful place to have a wedding and captures the great essence of the Biscayne Bay.

Gorgeous place.
There was some trash around the lawn (perhaps from the previous evenings event?) that I don't think the estate was aware of. Family and friends were trying to pick up everything from cigarette buds, plastic silverware, straws, etc the day of the wedding.
The staff is also sometimes hard to get a hold of.
But again, the place is beautiful.

The Deering Estate in my opinion is the most beautiful wedding venue in South Florida. I was thrilled to have my wedding there. We got married on the lawn and had our reception on the courtyard.
Pros: The view and privacy cannot be beat
Cons: Very far south and the cost is very high, especially considering your only back up for a larger group is a very expensive tent, which we did end up utilizing.
I highly reccommend this venue, especially if you want the wow factor.

The Deering Estate is an absolutely beautiful place for anyone that wants an outdoor ceremony by the ocean (but not sandy). We had our ceremony on their garden, overlooking the ocean. We did consider having the reception there, but it was way above our budget so we stuck to just renting it out for the ceremony and having the reception elsewhere. I wouldn't have had the ceremony anywhere else! That being said, I didn't give it five stars because their special events coordinator was often hard to get a hold of and somewhat cold when I did. Also, as a warning, in November (don't know if this is year-round) right around sunset (this was after our ceremony but when we were doing portraits) these mosquitoes come out for about an hour and they are just killer! We had bites up and down our arms well into our honeymoon! But the pictures were amazing...

So gorgeous. Probably one of the prettiest places around. It is so frusterating though the situation with the tent and renting each individual space. It is just so expensive compared with just getting a tent on its own. Oh well, can't complain very happy with how everything turned out.

Deering Estate is BEAUTIFUL!Its extremely hard to get a hold of the event coordinator. There was also trash around the lawn that I had friends picking up during the rehearsal the day before the wedding and when the wedding ceremony was being setup. Despite its flaws, the views are gorgeous! I still wouldn't have picked another place despite its flaws.

A beautiful and breath taking venue. Just make sure that you have a back up plan because of the weather.

The deering estate is probably one of the most beautiful places to have your wedding. I personally had my reception in the courtyard and it was a dream come true! Nevertheless, they have many restrictions, such as not being able to put poles to put lights or orbs, there cannot be any open flames, and you cannot put petals on the floor. These are just a few of the many restrictions they impose on you, if you are planning to go with them, just make sure you are aware of the restrictions before you make your final decision.

The venue itself is amazing , the view is priceless . Leslie was hard to reach but Candy was very helpful and responsive . I was called the day before the wedding and told there was spackle on the walls inside the house , because the house was under reconstruction . Leslie asked if this would be a problem and said no but I wondered would it of made a difference if it was ? They weren't going to fix it , so why call ? I wouldn't of even noticed , extra stress I didn't need. Other than that the wedding was amazing , I would do it again in a heart beat.

deeding its beautiful however, the management team does not do a good job at maintaining the place or taking care of issues that are brought up before weddings, the mosquito, wasps situation in deeding its horrible and management doesn't care about it. they also are constantly changing the rules and days before the event you need to change your plans. the best about deeding its how beautiful it is.
