The Double Tulip

Our wedding was yesterday and the flowers were spectacular, we had a wedding package and the floweres for the tables were lovely and we purchased flower vases for the wedding ceromony and also our bouquets and other flowers. I have never seen prettier bouqets.

I was very very disappointed with my experience with the Double Tulip for my wedding flowers. The centerpiece flowers were included as part of my package at my recpetion site (Comfort Inn East). I, however, chose and paid for the additional flowers for the church, my bouquet, bridal party flowers, flowers for cake, etc. Susie, the owner, was not flexible at ALL and I often times felt like she was doing me a favor by allowing me to purchase (at a fairly expensive price) the flowers for my wedding. She was not very attentive during any of our appointments. Often times she would be late or not present for our appointments. I'm not picky about flowers, but I was fairly set on the fact that I don't particularly like roses and instead very much favor tulips.. Tulips were my main request and judging by the name of the company and spring season of my wedding, I figured it would be no problem. Instead, I ended up with multiple kinds of roses in my bouquet and my girls' bouquets and not one tulip could be found in the bridesmaids' bouquet. There may have been one tulip in my bouquet. Although, the bouquets looked very pretty and centerpieces ended up looking very pretty, they were NOT what I ordered. Apparently, Susie diagreed with my choice in flower and made her own decision about what flowers would look good on MY day. What the hell? I was paying for the flowers-shouldn't she have honored my decision? Of course, it was too late to change anything when the bouquets were delivered (late) to my house on the day of my wedding. It was the last thing I needed on an already stressful day. She also went against my wishes for the flowers at the church and made her own call. I foudn it very frustrating to spend a significant amount of money on flowers and then have the florist do her own thing and not respect the wishes of the bride (who is paying!). Our final disagreement was over the color scheme for the flowers. My bridemaids' dresses were navy blue and I thought that hot pink/fuschia flowers would really compliment the blue. The color pink was also important to me becuase were making a donation to a breast cancer charity in honor of my mother who had been recently diagnosed. Susie actually argued with me about this color scheme and almost wouldn't agree to it until I told her about my mom. Again, I say, shouldn't she respect my wishes? Who is a vendor to outright argue with a bride on what she is paying for??? It was ridiculous. Luckily, I got my way with the colors and they looked beautiful together.

I would not recommend getting any of your flowers from the Double Tulip unless they are part of a package. If I had to do it over again, I would have gone with two separate florists.

The flowers for my wedding turned out AMAZINGLY. I gave the Double Tulip flexibility because I did not know EXACTLY what I wanted and they were able to put the scattered ideas in my head into a beautiful centerpiece. I did not see an example of my flowers or the flowers for my girls prior to my wedding day and I was a little surprised in how well they turned out with no idea what to expect! HOWEVER. I had a terrible time getting calls back, or questions answered which was extremely stressful for a bride to be to deal with. I was very disappointed on my wedding day that the mirrors and votives that were to be included in my centerpieces were NOT there and the taper candles that I had not really wanted in the first place were. I had pictures from the trial that were provided and they did not match up to what I got. Everyone complimented me on the flowers and really only my mother and I noticed the flaw... but it was very upseting after all the hassle to GET IN TOUCH with the Double Tulip that my centerpieces were still not right!

I had a fantastic experience working with Double Tulip for my wedding. I was treated with respect even though I know very little about flowers. My ideas were heard and suggestions were appropriate and given in a timely fashion. I found that Double Tulip was professional and responsive to all of my needs. The final product was AMAZING! Everything from the altar flowers to the extra touches on the mantles at the reception site were gorgeous. Nothing was missed! When I saw the club decorated, it took my breath away. I had seen a mock centerpiece during my tasting, but what I saw when all of the tables were decorated...simply blew me away. I can safely say that my expectations, which were very high, were exceeded. I would recommend Double Tulip to anyone who wants their flowers to be perfect on their wedding day.

I knew exactly what I wanted and had lots of pictures of every single detail when I met with Double Tulip. My bouquet was PERFECT! A dead-on match of the photo I provided. The flowers look phenomenal in all of the wedding photos, too. I couldn't have been happier.

The Double Tulip does a FANTASTIC job with flowers!! But, if you are a stickler for detail, make SURE you write in the contract EXACTLY how you want your boquets, centerpieces, etc. I would even have them do a mock centerpiece and take a picture to place in your file. On the day of our wedding, we did not have the amount of hydrangeas that we were promised on each table. AND...we were still charged the same amount. A little disappointing, but again, that's if you are stickler for details like me! Overall, my bridal boquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were exquisite! The pictures with all of our flowers look phenomenal. Again, just make sure you tell Sue EXACTLY what you want...bring pictures...and watch her place them in your file.

The flowers and decor that The Double Tulip provided were absolutely stunning. The quality and creativeness of their work is top notch. BUT, they were late getting to the venue (almost 2 hours) and that really ruined the timeline for the day since we had planned on taking pictures prior to the ceremony. They caused me a lot of stress!
