I was referred to the dress doctor from belle vie on oak street. They did an amazing job! My dress fit absolutely perfect! I didn't even need to wear a bra and im a d cup. They altered the dress exactly how i wanted! I also sent my sister and my mom to get their dresses altered as well and they were both done great. We also received a discount for their dresses! I would defiantly recommend the dress doctor!

While pricey, this alterations specialist exceeded my expectations. They did a fantastic job on my alterations, and when my dress ripped on my wedding day (through no fault of Dress Doctor), they were there within 1 hour to repair it for me!

We were referred to the Dress Dr from Vera Wang on Oak St. They walked our dress over and we had five fittings before our wedding. After the first fitting the zipper would stick in an area by the bra strap. The blamed it on the thickness of the dress. It always took two seamstresses to lift the zipper. One hour before the wedding when we tried to put the dress on the zipper stuck again and we had to call the Dress Dr. to come to the hotel to help zip it. When they tried to zip it the whole zipper broke (1 hour before the wedding) . They had to sew up the back of this beautiful Vera Wang dress. We missed all the before wedding pictures and were 15 minutes late for the ceremony. The Dress Dr has never called to apologize or to offer any refund. They charge $695 on the first visit for their alteration services. After this incident several other people have called to tell their Dress Dr. horror stories.

Yes, they are on the expensive side for alterations…but they are also fabulous. Mary and her girls just know what they’re doing. I could pull my dress off without unzipping it when I went in, so the alterations were fairly extensive. Their work was impeccable and I really enjoyed my time with their friendly staff.

The Dress Doctor was another favorite vendor of mine. I completely forgot about having my dress altered and was having a mini panic attack until I called the Dress Doctor. They fit me into their schedule about two and a half weeks before my wedding date. Giselle spoke to me on the phone and calmed me down. I definitely do not recommend waiting until the last minute to get your dress altered, but just know that if it does happen they do work wonders and will get the job done! Ces (the gentleman who coordinates all the office stuff) is a warm, funny, friendly & welcoming person. Giselle & Sohelia (both extremely friendly as well) both worked on my dress & it turned out fabulous. It fit like a glove. I was a happy happy bride! I highly recommend the Dress Doctor for alterations.

She changed the straight across neckline of my lace, strapless dress into a sweetheart and it looked wonderful. I made all of my appointments the day of my first visit, and they were on time for each of them. I was able to pick my dress up the afternoon before my wedding without any issue. She seemed slightly on the expensive side, but well worth it.

I was very happy with my experience at The Dress Doctor. I had had an unpleasant experience at Davis Imperial (so bad, in fact that I left the store with my dress after my first appointment with them) so I turned to The Dress Doctor after seeing some wonderful reviews on the knot boards. Sohelia and her daughter were wonderful to work with - they had amazing, creative solutions to small problems that Davis Imperial had not come up with and I felt that the quality and service were top-notch. Sohelia also did my mom's dress and my mom was very pleased with the result. Plus, it was wonderful to have my alterations in the city as I could go at lunchtime during the week and they were honest with my (i.e., when I told them I wasn't planning on wearing spanx underneath, she told me polietly it might be a good idea to do so :)) The Dress Doctor is a bit pricey, but worth every penny in my opinion.
I had a big snafu with my dress while we were taking pictures between the the ceremony and reception; I jumped on my husband for a cute pic and right as I did this, my dress split right along the side - the zipper gave way and my left side was completely exposed. This wasn't just a little split a couple inches long, this was a major hole, from my armpit to below my waist on my right side, it was something that pins or safety pins could not have helped. This was a complete and absolute fluke and Sohelia was able to help out BIG time in a jam when I was quite pannicky. My wedidng planner called her and she was able to take me right away. She took an hour out of her regularly scheduled appointments that night and sewed me up after my new husband and I dashed over to her in a cab. The dress looked impeccable and you could not tell at all that the zipper had given way earlier that evening. She even gave us a seamripper for my new husband to cut me out of the dress that night :)
*As a sidenote - I do not blame the incident with the dress on the seamstress at all. I truly feel it was one of those crazy flukes and that the work they did on the dress was wonderful and in no way contributed to the tear.

I purchased my dress from out of state and needed to find someone to alter it in Chicago. The Dress Doctor was great to work with and did an outstanding job. They didn't settle for anything less than perfection and wanted to make sure I was 100% happy with the result. It is obvious that they have a lot of experience and knew exactly what they were doing. The price was pretty high, but I had a complicated dress. If cost isn't an issue, then this vendor is right for you!

The Dress Doctor took my sample dress I bought from a size 14 to a size 2. It fit like a glove and she was very professional!
