I'm amazed how beautiful my dress came out. I bought a sample dress that was a little rough in some spots. She was able to fix all imperfections making it look brand new. I felt comfortable and relaxed in my dress all night.
Kristin was great! She did my wedding dress alterations and took a lot of time making sure everything was perfect, which I appreciated. She made changes up until the week of my wedding, which I also appreciated. I had removable straps on my dress and the snaps were lose on the wedding day but that wasn't anything Kristin would have known beforehand. I also had it taken out a lot because it felt tight, but on the day of it turned out to be slightly lose, which again isn't something Kristin had control over, I guess just a note to brides-as worried as you may be about your dress, it all works out on your wedding day :) Kristin is a true expert though and I definitely recommend her, you'll be well taken care of.
Kris added straps to my strapless wedding gown. She also steamed and prepped my gown and veil before the wedding. I did not do much price comparison when it came to my alterations service so I'm not sure if I got a good deal or if I overpaid, but Kris did a beautiful job. She made a last minute change to the design of the straps that made all the difference in the world to me and she was very accommodating to do so. Was a pleasure every time we worked together!
Kristen recently made a beautiful mother of the groom dress for me. I showed her a photo of something I liked and as a result of the photo, our conversations, and several fittings, she created a design that was better than what I had imagined. She is professional, good natured, listens well, and is a superb seamstress. I have never had a dress fit so well or be so well made - no detail was left without thought. I was given a very accurate estimate of the cost before any fabric was ordered or work was done. Having a dress made does take several fittings so do plan ahead. My guess is you will find the entire process very enjoyable.
I brought my wedding dress to The Dress Maker for some alterations; hem, bustle, let out the hips so it sat correctly . We met for a couple really quick dress fittings and in the end my dress fit perfectly! My maid of honor and the event coordinator even commented on how easy the bustle was to put up! I'd recommend her to anyone for dress alterations of any kind!
I am very pleased with the alterations from The Dressmaker! My dress fit like a glove and it looked great in my professional photos. The cost is a bit pricey (mainly because I had a difficult hem) but in the end worth it. My dress got compliments the entire time!
She did wonderful work to my wedding dress. However, I do wish she would have kept me more informed of the expenses.
I got my alterations done at The Dressmaker. She did a wonderful job and my too-big dress ended up fitting perfectly. She only works with wedding dresses and is an expert in the field. Expect to spend at minimum $250. Would recommend.
The Dressmaker made a lovely shrug for my wedding ceremony. Quality and skill was high. Price was reasonable. I would recommend this dressmaker.
I wanted to wear my Mother's wedding gown from 1968, but wanted to make a change to the top to make it my own. Kristen said she could absolutely do what I wanted and did a beautiful job re-making the top of the dress, as well as some changes to the slip. This happened over the course of 4-5 fittings over 6 months or so. She is a master with great attention to detail. She also helped make a revision to my veil in the last month before the wedding. The dress was gorgeous and I felt so comfortable and beautiful in it all day long! Thanks to Kristen, I had the special chance to wear my Mother's gown.
Kristen took my grandmother's 50 year-old wedding dress and turned it into a masterpiece. It couldn't have turned out any better. I enjoyed working with her in designing it. She had great ideas and was able to fullfill my requests.
She nearly had to cut my dress in half but she did it flawlessly. It (I) looked amazing. The only hick up I had was that it was to be taken in one more time before the wedding but it wasnt. She also made my veil too :)
Wonderful!! Was happy to do an alteration on a gown she didn't make. The timing worked well and she did a very nice job considering the challenge of pleated chiffon. Pricing was less than the quote I got from the seamstress who works with the store I bought my dress from. And she was a pleasure to visit with. Given my great experience with only an alteration, if you want a custom gown, go here! (I had received her name from a friend who had her create a custom gown and loved it!)
I bought a sample sale dress, and Kristin was able to recommend somewhere to have it cleaned well (Mashek's in Wayzata, who did a great job!) and then she made the appropriate alterations. The dress turned out great. She is obviously a perfectionist, which shows in her work. I would recommend getting started with her at least several months in advance for alterations, likely sooner if she is making your dress from scratch.
I thought they did a good job with my dress but a few of the bridesmaids had issues. It was a bit overpriced for their dresses in my opinion ($50 for hemming alone). A couple of the girls’ hems came loose at the reception, which was a pain for them. I think they got some of the cost refunded to them.
My mother offered me her wedding dress in jest, I think, because she probably thought that I would want something new and fancy. I surprised her by accepting the offer, on the condition that I could alter the dress a little. I am about five inches taller than my mother, and my shoulders are rather wide. At first she didn’t want the dress to be cut up, but then we visited the DressMaker in Edina with my plans and her dress. I wanted to cut off the sleeves and make the dress top more tube top like, and then shorten the bottom so that it would fall just bellow my knees. The seamstress understood at once my vision, and drew it out for my mother and explained how easy it would be. Once my mother got the picture, she gave the go-ahead. We had to go back three more times for fittings, and just to follow up. It looked beautiful once it was done. You could still see the original pattern of the dress, this just looked like a modern take on a classic. It fit perfectly, and it was worth the cost, which was still far less than what most dresses cost nowadays.
I had bought the dress a year before the wedding, and assume it fit at the time. A month before the day, my mother and mother-in-law insisted that I try on the dress for them. I guess in all the stress of planning and starting a new job, I had lost some weight. The dress sort of hung in the front. We asked around and we were told about The DressMaker. They were really nice about fitting us in, considering the short time span. The dress, they said, was easy to fix. I have to say that when I saw the types of dresses they were making, I wish I would have gotten a custom made dress rather than my generic dress! I was beautiful nonetheless!
if you can afford them and you want to feel like a whimsical princess, please try this place. First of all it is appointment only and they actually build your dress on a mannequin, so start early. You come back like three times and the whole time you are making payments. I picked it up like three days before the big day.
The Dressmaker actually made my wedding gown which included all the alterations that needed to be made in the process. We decided on the style and material to be used together, I brought a couple pics. Everything was just how I expected it except for the length of my train. I had asked for it longer than it was but it didn’t turn out to be that long. But I still loved the dress. Only other minus was she was a little pricey.
