Gandy Dancer

Our son and daughter-in-law were married in Malaysia earlier this year and we had a reception for them at the Gandy Dancer Courtyard. I was very impressed with their coordinator Kristina. Our reception went very well. People raved about the service and food. We did a mingling cocktail party with some live music and a photo booth (Shutterbooth) for some fun! It was a great night.

Our ceremony was supposed to take place a mile away in the Arboretum. Unfortunately, the weather turned and there was no way we could have had our ceremony in the pouring rain. The staff created a sweet little area were we could say our vows, literally minutes before the ceremony was to start, and everything went beautifully. The food was amazing, our guests raved about every dish they ate, and the desserts upstaged the wedding cakes they were that good! I'd recommend the Gandy Dancer for every event, the staff, food, and decor is worth every penny. Oh, and try the dynamite mahi...it's fabulous!

The Gandy Dancer made planning the reception the easiest part of the wedding. Since it's a restaurant, the conduct their catering in a manner that provides an intimate feel, no need for menu cards! Their seafood and steak selections are top notch! Their outdoor patio is perfect for the outdoor reception feel, without worrying about the elements. Kristina, the catering coordinator is super friendly and knowledgeable.

Gandy Dancer is an old Ann Arbor staple. The food quality and service is always outstanding. Hence the reason why I decided to have my reception at this restaurant.

The food service, bar service were perfect. We could not get enough compliments about how everything tasted.

With that said...the event coordinator is, to be nice, very difficult to work with---and I suggest despite her assurance that you have a wedding planner to look after the event coordinator at Gandy to make sure she is staying on top of exactly how you want things.

Overall though, the food and dancing in the courtyard was perfect.

Loved it. We had our reception in the Gandy Dancer's Courtyard on a crisp and rainy night. The heaters worked well and everyone was comfortable (well, the ladies were cool and the menfolk were a little warm with jackets). The restaurant's valet service provided car to table umbrella service which was greatly appreciated by our guests. The food was phenomenal and, from my perspective, Kristina was a genius. She handled problems and made sure everything went smoothly. Table service was great (Thanks Will!) and all of the staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. And... somehow we came in under budget on food and beverages, when does that happen?

We had our Reception on the patio at the Gandy Dancer. We loved the look of the building and knew the food is amazing so we decided to do our reception there. The food definitely didn't disappoint. We chose a strolling style dinner with appetizers. We expected small bit sized apps. but they were much bigger and even better than what we had expected. We had more than enough food for our guests and everyone kept saying that this was the best wedding food they had ever had and was amazing. We set the patio up in more of a lounge feel and only offered seating for half our guests and had bar height tables because we really wanted people to mingle and move around, which worked out great. People danced, partied, had a great time and had plenty of room to grab a seat at one of the 6 tables if they needed to relax. We loved our experience with The Gandy Dancer and would recommend them to anyone for their reception.

We had our reception in the outdoor (covered) courtyard at the Gandy Dancer. It was beautiful. They arranged for chair covers for us at $2.50 per chair. Their banquet manager, Kristina, was an angel -- so organized and helpful and willing to go out of her way to help our reception be perfect. All of our guests LOVED their entrees and were very impressed when all of the entrees for the table were delivered at the same time. We had an open bar, seated dinner and 133 guests.
