What a perfect day! You dream of the day that your daughter gets married and you want everything to be extra special.......the GMH made everything just that way. All we had to do was ask and Ginger and her staff was more than happy to accommodate us. The food and cake were absolutely delicious and so many of our guests gave their compliments. Thank you Ginger and Staff for an evening my family will never forget!! Terry Moore

Everything was just wonderful!! Our family loved the Gingerbread house. The venue was beautiful and under cover so no worries if it rained. The food was amazing especially the wedding cake and homemade salad dressings. The service was awesome with attention to all the little details. We would definitely recommend Ginger to anyone!

At first we were very pleased with the Gingerbread Meeting House. That is until we paid our first deposit and then it became very difficult to get in touch with Ginger. Luckily during the whole wedding process I was the type to kinda take control of everything and make sure everything was taken care of. There were a few times when i would have a question about something very important and i would not get a return call or email for days! The Florist that was used, Sandra Belue was awesome. From the bouquets to the table centerpieces every flower was amazing! I was told in the beginning that i would have a final meeting with the bakery, DJ, videographer and wedding director. I met with none of them until the day before the wedding except for the bakery which i never met at all. Luckily the cake turned out exactly how we wanted it and tasted amazing. The DJ, Jeff Elmore was very prepared the night of the rehearsal and he was great to get involved with the guests during the reception. Unfortunately, the night of the rehearsal we were VERY unhappy with the wedding director. I'm not going to bash her on here, but let's just say that she was very unprofessional acting and when we contacted Ginger about it we felt that she thought it was no big deal and did nothing that we could tell to handle the situation. Small things had to be fixed the day of, there were not enough chairs put out for guests and the officiant had to fix the sand ceremony minutes before we started the ceremony. just things that should have been taken care of ahead of time! The food was good, however i would not recommend doing the cash bar. Also, i would NOT recommend going through them to get a videographer and if you do, Make sure you meet with them and tell them what you want! We never got to meet with ours and we ended up with a 6 minute video of our wedding and when we contacted Ginger about it nothing was done. It took us contacting the videographer himself to get what we wanted!

My wedding was Saturday, May 26, 2012. The Gingerbread House was amazing to work with. When we went for our first meeting, Ginger explained everything to us and gave us a detailed checklist with pricing included so we knew exactly what to expect. She allowed us to give a basic plan and then add and subtract from it as we figured out our budget and needs. They provided all linens, silverware, stemware, table coverings, etc. I chose all the colors of everything from the table linens to the color of the side curtains, even the ribbons they were tied with. I was able to choose every detail of my wedding. The table placement, food, timing, everything. We decided to have all of our pictures before the wedding and therefore did not need an appetizer table or passed appetizers and were able to subtract them from our budget. They also catered our wedding to perfection (Tender London Broil, Walnut and Cranberry Salad with House made Vinaigrette, Bread with Herb Butter,Cream Whipped Garlic Potatoes, and Baked Macaroni and Cheese. The food was delicious and our guests said it was the best food at a wedding they had ever had. We also used their cake baker, Ann. The cake was exactly what I had explained and matched the color and style perfectly. We had a different flavor and filling for each layer of our three tier square cake (Strawberry on top, Chocolate with Chocolate mousse in the middle, The largest tier was Vanilla cake with Vanilla Butter cream Filling) Everything was delicious and moist. I chose all the music to be played during the actual ceremony, dinner, and dancing and the DJ, Jeff Elmore was professional and made every effort to make us happy. All details were gone over with me before the wedding and I even had a day of Coordinator. Anytime I had a question or concern I could call, text, or email her and get an almost immediate response. I cannot say enough great things about the Gingerbread Meeting House and Ginger herself. If you want a worry free and amazing wedding I suggest here.

Ginger was very nice and professional. She did forget one of our appointments, she let us go ahead and come but we felt rushed because she had scheduled another appointment at our time. My daughter and I had both asked to leave work early and had the date on our calandars. The facility looked beautiful for the wedding and everyone was very professional with the exception of our our wedding director Alyssa. She did a good job but was not very friendly. We felt very rushed at the rehersal and she was snappy to us on the wedding day. I just feel like the family and the bride and groom should be made to feel very relaxed on the wedding day. All in all we were pleased and would use this facility again. By the way, the DJ Jeff Elmore was wonderful!!!

I had my wedding on April 16th, 2011 At first everything seem to go very well as soon as I wanted to see the venue Ginger had me there right away, I loved the place, booked it later that day as soon as I paid the phone calls stopped. Ginger would no longer contact me by phone only by email even when I would call her and leave a message clearly asking for her to call me back I would get a email in return.
I was very nervous of them doing everything food, cake, set up ect. which later I found out I had very good reason to be.
The day before my wedding Ginger was no where she hired others to cordinate and run things which the poor girl that she hired to do so, seemed way over her head, It rained the day of my wedding and we didnt go over a plan B which we should have. So there was a lot of confussion and slow setting up.
I was told we could not have a outside bakery Ginger talked very highly of her baker so I agreed even though my aunt worked at a bakery. my cake came that day and it was GREEN my colors were blue and brown it also looked nothing like the picture that I showed them the flowers were not even the same as the ones pictured. We did get a refund for the cake but I never once heard a sorry. My cake looked horrible on my wedding day and nothing can fix that! along with the cake looking nothing like the picture the red velvet was dry.
We also ordered a fruit table done by them she showed me a picture of what it would look like which our fruit table looked NOTHING like the picture, it was all of 4-6 jars no display like they pictured on there website at all. I do understand every fruit table will look diffrent but mine looked nothing like I was told it would. not only that but 90% of the time it was empty
I would never suggest this venue to friends, family or strangers. I'm very diapointed with this venue I really wish I could say great an wonderful things about them I really do. always check the bbb before booking which I did not.

This vender is in Shelby, NC a small town about an hour south of Charlotte. It is out doors but covered so rain is not an issue...she also has to large indoor rooms that can be used for the reception, rehearsal dinner, etc. Ginger, the owner, caters, decorates, she has a florist, photographer, videographer, and a DJ who will do the sound for the rehearsal and ceremony and will DJ the reception. She also does invitations. This is everything you need all in one place and has made the planning process incredibly easy and stress free. She has a full menu complete with chocolate fountains, ice sculptures, and other items you may be interested in for your reception/rehearsal dinner. Her website is www.thegingerbreadhouse.org and features a few pictures of The meeting hosue as well as her full menu. The website will be updated and a lot more pictures will be added this summer.

FutureChase,
I'm sorry that you received the same unfortunate service that I did at our wedding two years ago. Everything was great for us too until we paid our deposit. We had a hard time getting in touch with anyone after that. Our original location was not available and we thought that the GBH was beautiful! I planned an out of state wedding, so I was nervous, but I thought that the GBH could handle it.
Two weeks before the wedding, I called to give my final count as my contract stipulated. My contract clearly stated that I was to give my final count, which is the amount that I was billed for. My original guess was 100 people (we invited over 200), but only 70 people RSVP'ed. I was told that regardless of what the contract said, I had to pay for the original guess that I gave them. Working in contracts, I knew that I could battle them, but I also knew they could ruin my wedding day. I paid them and was told that they would cook for 100 and we would receive all leftovers to be donated to the charity.
The day of the wedding, Ginger was also no where to be found. We also were baited into using their baker and our cake looked NOTHING like the picture. The layers were completely uneven and the cake was dry, dry, dry!
The florist did an absolutely wonderful job with the facility and the church, but if it weren't for her, the reception would've been awful! The venue was not setup how I stated. The DJ was inside and all the tables and dance area was outside -- NOT how I said. Our table was put in the area that the dance floor was supposed to be. Thank goodness I had some helpful men to move things around when my husband and I arrived and I demanded that things be changed.
I was told that our guests had to go and ask for refils of food when the line ran out. At one point towards the end of the evening, the glasses on the bar had disappeared, along with all staff. I had to go behind the bar and get a glass myself. Not exactly the service I paid for.
I too would never suggest this venue to anyone. I'm sorry you had the same experience that I did! Hopefully people will google before they book and realize that it's not just one wedding, but two or more that they have wrecked.
