I got incredibly lucky when I found Growing Wild. At our meeting I told her that my theme was wildflowers and gave her full license on which flowers and how they looked. I have never seen such beautiful flowers in my life. Barbara is a true artist!

Barbara is great and very creative. The flowers were gorgeous!!! It was half the price of all other florists in the area. This definitely the florist for you, if you are the type of bride that isn't into the details is okay with giving Barbara colors and simple ideas- and then let her run with it. She is very professional and you will not be disappointed ;)

There's a very good reason why Barbara and her company Growing Wild have such fantastic reviews on here --- the flowers for our wedding were absolutely fabulous. Barbara was great to work with - she always answers emails promptly and meets with you in person to create exactly what you want. The flowers for our fall wedding were absolutely gorgeous. For the ceremony they even did a decorated arch for us and mason jars on shepherds hooks with matching flowers at the top of the aisle - we got so many compliments on these. I was looking for something more colorful and original than arrangements with only one tone or type of flower - Growing Wild did a fantastic job of providing us with just that. I hired them exclusively based on the Weddingwire reviews and was so glad I did!

Just returned from my daughter's wedding. These flowers were exquisite. The bride's bouquet was just lovely with many different colors and textures. I definitely would recommend them if you like something original and gorgeously different.

Barbara Von Elm did a FABULOUS job for our wedding. The flowers were absolutely beautiful. Everyone complimented them. And she was very flexible -- changing plans and arrangements because of rain at the last minute. Barbara was also just really fun to work with. She's a character -- and made the process very enjoyable for two people who started with ideas but no specific knowledge of flowers. She has a really terrific process to determine which flowers and colors you like, which meant we knew we could really trust her to create arrangements and bouquets we would love.

Barbara is incredible, our flowers were just PERFECT! I had a vision for the wedding, however I was not very well versed on flowers - Barbara walked me through a great process to learn which flowers I liked the best and were in season/in our colors - and then turned my vision into a reality! AND she kept us within budget. Our bouquets were fabulous - a real work of art! Our reception centerpieces were incredible, they were exactly what we wanted!! I received so many compliments through the night on how gorgeous our flowers were. I highly recommend Growing Wild!!

I wasn't very picky about what I wanted for the flowers, and Barbara didn't need much direction. We met for an hour or two and after that she took it from there. The results were exactly what I wanted!

Loved working with Barbara, she understood my vision for the wedding and produced beautiful bouquets, centerpieces and decorations which reflected my vision. She is extremely responsive and professional. She was such a joy and pleasure to work with... she is just a really cool and relaxed woman but at the same time exudes her passion and love for flowers and what she does which for me, not being a flower guru of any sort, brought me great comfort during a sort of stressful planning time! Barbara made the most beautiful flower arrangements for our wedding. She listened to exactly what we wanted, and made them even better than I expected. Very creative and tasteful. She was also delightful to work with, and made the process stress free. Her flowers are a great value - and I highly recommend that you give her what she calls 'flex' to use flowers from her farm. They were so beautiful. I was extremely happy with her services.

First we told Barbara what our idea was like, then she showed us all the flowers that she thought we would like. She laid out a general idea and a budget on the spot. We asked her to adjust the budget and we were still able to get everything that we wanted. It was our choice to let her put everything together based on what we talked about. Barbara was absolutely the BEST!!! Our flowers were EXACTLY as I wanted them (and believe me, I was picky), and Barbara gave us a great deal on the package. She seriously is an amazing value. She is just so incredibly talented and extremely accommodating to your every whim. She's also so pleasant to be around. I met with a couple of other florists and Barbara just instantly gave me a feeling of absolute confidence in her aesthetic and skill. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Barbara and her team provided the flowers for our August wedding and they by far surpassed my expectations. We did not have a large floral budget and she was able to work with our budget. On the day of the wedding, the centerpieces were stunning, very large and fresh blooms and the bouquets and other wedding party flowers were beautiful.I would highly recommend Barbara - she provides excellent floral design at a very reasonable price.

Barbara is absolutely amazing and worked wonders with our budget and ideas. Our wedding flowers and placement of them in the venue were above and beyond our wildest dreams and better than what we had envisioned and explained and collaborated on during our meetings. I cannot speak more highly of Barbara of Growing Wild Floral Co. She's extremely friendly, enthusiastic, creative, flexible - she's fantastic to work with! When we met for the consultation, she showed me lots of photos of flowers and arrangements; from this we both got a clear sense of what I liked and what I didn't (I have a strong opinion on flowers apparently!) and that I didn't like much in between. I definitely had a vision of what I liked and she understood that I didn't want to vary much on the vision of my wedding and that I wasn't giving her free artistic and creative reign. She took detailed notes of our conversation and meeting and provided me with a complete proposal. Her pricing was very reasonable, especially compared to other local vendors/florists. After booking her for my wedding, I decided to use her for a few corporate functions (I'm a meeting & event planner) It was nice getting to know her and her work (which is beautiful) prior to our wedding. She was good for me - she "got" all of my visions, and I trusted that she would transform these into reality. I even "let go" a bit - because I came to trust her - trust her and her creativity would translate into the florals being perfect. My husband-to-be even worked with Barbara to create a "surprise" centerpiece for my wedding shower - he's a guy - and not super into flowers and the little details - so she helped him create the most beautiful centerpiece. My wedding 'vision' changed a bit over the months and Barbara was flexible with these changes. We spoke a few days prior to the wedding to make sure we were on the same page. My entire wedding was beautiful and memorable. I could not have been happier. The flowers were gorgeous - everything was perfect - my bouquet, my bridesmaids, corsages, boutonnieres, the shepherd's hooks & mason jars, the reception centerpieces...It was all just so beautiful and fit perfectly with my wedding theme and 'vision.' Barbara was an answer to my prayers, she was so easy to talk to, immediately "got" the vision for my wedding, and is a great value. barbara is amazing! she knew after only a few minutes talking with her my style, what i wanted, types of flowers i like. it was crazy. barbara is organized, enthusiastic, down to earth, creative, and a great listener. she is extremely respectful of your budget and will work with you to have great flowers within your budget.i loved that she grows her own flowers, but if you want other types she will order them for you. sometimes barbara will add other elements, such as fruit, greenery, to add dimension and interest. i kept mine very simple, but loved the possibility and creativity.the flowers were absolutely gorgeous! barbara was a great find and i couldn't be happier!

Barbara was fantastic and her work was STUNNING. She did a great job working with our budget, and with our total lack of floral vocabulary - I basically said "here are our colors, we like texture...GO!" And she totally ran with it. Her prices are really reasonable - especially for the chuppah - and the flowers came out beautifully. And on top of that she's fun and personable to work with. I would highly recommend her company to anyone!

I agree with the other reviewers - Barbara & Growing Wild were amazing work with. I actually did not have a specific vision (and we got married in January) so I gave her my budget and then was open to whatever she suggested. All the flowers were wonderful, but my bouquet was my favorite piece - it seriously looked like something out of a magazine. I could not have imagined a more perfect, beautiful arrangement. They were extremely professional and I did not have to do anything on the actual wedding day. Barbara just showed up at my room with the girls' bouquets and corsages and I realized everything else must have already gotten where it needed to go - a huge relief. They also provided flowers for the cake which were SO beautiful, and just the touch it needed.

I really do not see why anyone would want to use any florist but Growing Wild. I had the most fantastic experience- the flowers for my wedding were to-die-for gorgeous and Barbara, the owner of Growing Wild, could not have been more awesome. You know when you meet someone and you just click instantly? This happened with Barbara and I was so relieved. I had a very specific, unique vision for my wedding flowers and I had met with a number of other florists that didn't understand my concept. Barbara not only understood where my head was at, but she was excited about my ideas and provided me with lots of suggestions of types of flowers I hadn't even considered. I was so certain that Barbara understood my plans that I gave her carte blanche for my wedding. I am so glad I did. My flowers were intoxicating! Loved everything. They were the vibrant, seasonal, pop of color I was hoping they'd be. The table arrangements were elegant and fun all at once. I had no idea what I wanted for flowers, but going through different types of flowers with her she really got from my reactions what I liked and wanted. I love that she allows you to rent the centerpiece vases. Barbara is amazing!

Barbara was amazing! She met with me a couple of times to get all the details because I changed some things, and really listened to what my vision was. She didn't treat me like I was just another bride with a cookie-cutter wedding. I love that she is local and grows most of the flowers she uses. I just gave her the colors and flowers I liked, and she came up with the arrangements. The flowers on my wedding day were breathtaking! The colors and textures were so vivid and fresh. Barbara with Growing Wild is AWESOME!!! Growing Wild was one of my favorite vendors because they were so easy to work with and accommodating! Our flowers were more gorgeous than I could have ever imagined and they were EXACTLY what I asked for. I wanted a semi-exotic rose, which is in high demand in October and Barbara found them in abundance for me. Price was just right and service was perfection, as well. Barbara was a pleasure to work with. She was very responsive and even let us know when she would be traveling so that we would know that her response time might be a bit delayed. She worked within our budget and still managed to get every flower that we asked for! Barbara was my favorite vendor. Extremely friendly and enthusiastic and she did a GREAT job with our floral arrangements. And very budget friendly. A number of our guests commented on how perfect the flowers were. To be honest, I was initially not sure that I would be that comfortable working with Barbara because of all the comments on weddingwire about she does her best work when she's given a lot of leeway. Frankly, I'm a little too Type A to say to a florist: "here's a color scheme, have fun." Fortunately, that's not how Barbara works. She showed me lots of photos of flowers, and I pointed out some I liked and some I hated. She took detailed notes of our conversations and gave me some suggestions. A couple of weeks before the wedding, she sent me a little write-up describing what she was planning. There were a couple of small deviations from what I had been envisioning and I pointed them out. She immediately zoned in on what I was saying and sent me some images of some other options. She asked if these were more to what I was thinking about and I agreed. She really listened to me. Two weeks later, I had beautiful table arrangements and personals that looked absolutely beautiful with the table linens and as part of the setting. I could not have asked for her to have done a better job for us.

Barbara and the crew at Growing Wild Floral were definitely superstars of my wedding. As suggested on this site, I gave Barbara "flex" to do what she wanted, and oh my goodness, am I glad she did. The flowers arrangements simply took my breath away. Even though I only had vague ideas of what I liked when I first met with Barbara, she got what I wanted right away. Not only that, but she was just what you want in a vendor--extremely competent and very responsive. If you're open to fun, unique ideas, go with Barbara. She's a genius.

Gorgeous, gorgeous flowers!! We could not have been more happy with the way our flowers turned out. Barbara was amazing. When we first met with her we only had an idea of the overall impression we wanted from our flowers, we did not have specific flowers we wanted. Barbara listened to us and came up with the most wonderful bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces and ceremony flowers. They were better than we could have imagined. Everyone commented on how beautiful they were. It was also so fun to see how excited Barbara got over creating our flowers -- you can definitely tell it's her passion and she really enjoys creating every piece.

Barbara has a rare ability to turn a vague concept ("Sonoma?") into combinations of flowers, herbs, and greens that are stunningly beautiful. The bouquets looked and smelled amazing! Our centerpieces, arch, and other arrangements were perfect.

I don't know how she does it. There were 4 other weddings that day and one of her cars broke down, but everything was delivered fresh, gorgeous and on time!!! A miracle worker! Barbara took her time with us and made us feel totally at ease. I never had a worry about her competence or quality of work. The flowers were spectacular and still 4 days later beautifully full and fresh. We had stunning arrangements - tall to small. The boutonnieres were the best I have ever seen...simple but perfect for our small country church ceremony. Everything was lovely and Barbara a joy to work with. We gave her some simple guidelines and ideas and she did the rest...fabulous. I only have one more to marry off, but Barbara is at the top of my list!

Growing Wild was the best floral company to work with!!! Barbara is, hands-down, the most talented, charming, calming person you will interact with for your wedding and her work is breath-taking. LOVED Growing Wild Flower Company. The day of the wedding -- I about died when the flowers were delivered because they are, EXACTLY, what I asked for in every way. I told Barbara that I wanted Peonies in July (not an easy feat) -- and even though I wasn't expecting them -- there they were in my bouquet. Extremely flexible and open to new ideas -- I was blown away by the flowers at our wedding -- they were FABULOUS. Would recommend them to any bride.

I contacted Barbara at Growing Wild based on a reference from my day-of coordinators, Anne and Anna at Graceful Weddings. From the minute we met her, we were pretty positive she was the right florist for us. I know NOTHING about flowers, and my vision was vague at best. But after spending almost 2 hours with me, Barbara really zeroed in on what would work for me. The result? Amazing, beautiful, perfect flowers within my budget. I still look at the pictures and am blown away. Some of my guests believe that I paid twice as much for my flowers as I did! Her team went above and beyond. I was married in July, after "peony" season, but told Barbara they were my favorites. She said she'd try, but wasn't optimistic. Guess what showed up in my bridal bouquet? The most beautiful peonies I'd ever seen! Additionally, that day she personally delivered the flowers, on a day when she had her own personal event to attend. Barbara and her team are true artists, and they do amazing work when you trust them to capture your vision with the best flowers available for your season and don't restrict her with too many specifics. Trust me, you won't be disappointed if you let her work her magic!

Barbara was the best! My flowers were gorgeous, the iron arch she decorated was unbelievable, and the table pieces were beautiful. All I knew was that I wanted the theme to be "wild flowers." From my first meeting with Barbara, I knew I was in good hands. She thrives on creativity, so if you know exactly what you want, she may not be the right person. But she guided me through my loose ideas with such patience and created the most beautiful day for us. I highly recommend her!

Barbara is incredible and she did an AMAZING job. We went to a couple of florists before choosing Barbara, but none of them could do what we wanted with the budget that we had. Barbara really listened to what we wanted out of our flowers - I didn't want any greenery in the reception flowers, but I wanted them to look full and she gave us exactly what we wanted and she gave us a variety of orchids and calla lilies and she was even able to get me peonies for my bouquet (in July!). She is so easy to work with and so reliable. She made our gazebo look stunning, and the aisle looked beautiful. We loved everything she did and would definitely recommend her to anyone.

I can not begin to describe the beauty of what Barbara created for our wedding day! I had all these ideas in my head, but couldn't fathom the way she put it all together! Barbara listened to the things we wanted and helped us create a vision that worked with our budget. I loved when we first met she just showed me picture after picture of flowers to guage feel, texture and color and she nailed it on our big day. She was also honest with us when we had ideas or suggestions that may not have worked well, and to that I am appreciative, because our wedding day in my eyes came off wonderfully! The tall centerpieces she made, she created a sample of for us for a nominal cost and it was so helpful for me, as it helped me put my whole table setting into perspective. My husband is from a NY/NJ Jewish family and so the chuppah was a huge thing for him, where he is from they are big and bountiful with flowers and also very expensive - we had a mix of fresh/faux flowers that was breathtaking and no one knew the difference, this not only allowed us to have flowers that wouldn't have survived the heat but also prevented us from cutting down our budget for other ceremony flowers, reception centerpieces, decorative arrangements, etc. Considering the significant DC heat wave, all the flowers were crisp and fresh looking and I even had some flowers in my bouquet that we weren't sure would be available. Everything was exquisite and I couldn't have been any happier and couldn't have dreamed of having anything more beautiful than what we had! We can't wait to see them captured in our photographers pictures soon! Many thanks Barbara - for everything!!!

Barbara is amazingly talented at what she does. I loved meeting with her and discussing my flowers with her just because she's a cool person and really knows her stuff. I was very specific in what I wanted, and when Barbara delivered the flowers on my wedding day, I was stunned at how gorgeous and absolutely perfect they were. She listened to everything I said and executed it flawlessly. I adored my bouquet and my bridesmaids' flowers, and I received countless compliments on our centerpieces especially. She is the best. Highly highly recommend you book her for your wedding!

It was a pleasure to work w Barbara. Neither of us knew much about flowers, but she was patient in explaining different types of arrangements, things to note (color, texture, etc.) and approximate cost. And, she was always prompt in responding to emails. Overall, we were very pleased with her service. One small complaint: the callas in my bridal bouquet didn't match my wedding color. That said, everything else was gorgeous. I would use Growing Wild again.

I was so pleased with Growing Wild! Barbara was wonderful to work with, and she honored all of my requests. I wanted mostly local flowers, not flowers shipped from South America or New Zealand. Not only did Barbara give me local flowers - many were from her own garden! I also wanted lots of texture and natural-looking bouquets. The flower arrangements Barbara put together were wonderful. I couldn't have been happier with the finished product. Best of all, Barbara's prices are very affordable! You can rent vases from her rather than purchasing them, so that helps keep her costs down. I highly recommend Growing Wild.

What can I say? Working with Barbara Von Elm was an excellent experience. From the first time I met with her, I felt that she understood exactly the look I was going for. She went over various flower choices and colors and showed me her portfolio of arrangements and bouquets. She was always very responsive to emails and didn't make me feel as if I was being a bother when I had a question or wanted to make a change.The color palette I chose was challenging – mauves, antique rose, dusty violet, pale green – however, Barbara delivered. I can't even begin to describe how wonderful the flowers for the wedding were. I honestly wouldn't have changed a thing. I received so many compliments on the flowers. The centerpieces were gorgeous, the bridesmaids loved their bouquets, and I can't even begin to tell you how obsessed I still am with my bouquet - it was absolutely stunning. Barbara provided top-notch exquisite floral arrangements that were more impressive than I could have hoped for.Barbara was a dream to work with. She is able to work within various budgets and I always felt that I was getting an excellent value for my money. On the day of the wedding, the flowers arrived on-time as scheduled and the deliverers even helped the groom and groomsmen get their boutonnières pinned on correctly. Unbelievably amazing!!! From the moment I sat down and met with Barbara I had a whole new outlook on flowers. She showed me photo's of different flowers and really took the time to learn the style of my wedding. She absolutely matched what I was invisioning and completely exceeded my expectations. I was the most excited to see the flowers for my wedding and when I did, I couldn't stop staring at them! I wish I had more time with my flowers because the arrangements were so gorgeous and the colors were exactly as I had asked and invisioned in my head to match my wedding colors. I have to be upfront and say that my mother handled most of the details when it came to floral arrangements, however based upon her feedback and the final outcome, Barbara did an amazing job!I remember meeting at Barbaras house in Virginia nearly a year before the event. Barbara listened to what my ideas were and was able to brainstorm and come up with ideas for the table arrangements and bouquets. Barbara is a wholesaler so she grows everything herself and is able to provide competitive prices.The eiffel tower arrangements were breathtaking as well as the bouqets. Barbara and her team are experts in what they do!

My husband and I loved working with Barbara Von Elm! We were beyond pleased with the look she created for our big day! Barbara was very responsive and organized, I appreciated the thorough write ups she gave me before the event so that I could keep track of what we had agreed on. They stayed until the reception to turn over the venue and worked within a tight timeframe to get that done, being very flexible as we were also trying to capture photographs in the same room. I loved working with Barbara from Growing Wild. She is very artistic and enthusiastic about her bouquet designs. I had lots of specific details that I wanted included in my bridal bouquet including feathers and winter greens and it turned out great!In addition, she was very reliable. There was a blizzard on the day of my wedding and Barbara thought to bring the bouquets the night before to my house, and the rest of the flowers to the church and reception venue. It was a great idea because the day of the wedding there were 2+ feet of snow, and we didn't have to worry about the flowers arriving.

Barbara was wonderful to work with. I brought her paint chips to showe her our color scheme, and she provided some great suggestions to compliment the color scheme we wanted. She sat with us and looked through dozens of pictures to get ideas of what we liked. I felt completely comfortable with her skills and her judgment and we decided to let her make most of the choices about exactly what flowers to use and how to arrange them. Everything turned out stunning, and we received so many compliments. I would definitely choose Growing Wild again without hesitation.

Barbara is a flower goddess!! The flowers were probably the most important thing to me at my wedding and I didn't think I had the budget to do what I really wanted. Barbara made my vision a reality and kept me within my budget. I had a hard time describing what I wanted but Barbara nailed it. It was exactly what I envisioned! I was very pleased with Barbara and the bouquets and flower arrangements she did for my wedding. We met in a coffee shop and spent an hour talking about my vision for my wedding the style the colors etc. and then looked at all of her galleries on her computer. She took detailed notes of what I liked and what I did not. In a few days I received a very detailed write up from her as to what the bouquets would look like both colors and flower options. Finally, 10 days before the wedding we did a final call where she told me exactly what flowers I would get. I also took advantage of her rent an arrangement which I thought saved money and was a good value. As for the flowers and bouquets I thought they were just beautiful. Exactly what we discussed, I could not have been more pleased.

I cannot say enough good things about Barbara and her team at Growing Wild! She did an breathtakingly good job - I was in love with my flowers - and I am not a "flower" person. Barbara is super fun and creative and her energy flows through to her work. I didn't want the flowers to be "too girly" at our wedding so we chose to do them in lime green and bright blue - an unusual combination to say the least - but Barbara understood our desire for pops of color in the wedding decor and made the vision come alive. She executed everything we wanted brilliantly! When you first meet with her, she shows you various arrangements that she has done on previous events and asks you to react to them in terms of the colors, style and types of flowers. Even those of us who don't know flowers are easily able to give feedback and from there she begins to comprehend your vision. I must caution you that Barbara does not do "trials" - she said to me that she needs to let the flowers speak to her, and that she can't make an arrangement one month and then be stifiled into recreating that a month later for the wedding - which especially rings true when she grows so many of her own flowers, and the availability is always changing. Despite that, even a mild control freak, took the leap and choose to trust Barbara and her team's creativity and I am so glad I did. I was absolutely in love with what she did and I will definitely book her again for any event that I do that needs flowers.

Barbara at Growing Wild is AMAZING! She is very talented and was a pleasure to work with. I had a very specific look and vision I wanted for my flowers and Barbara surpassed all my expectations. My wedding was July 25th and I was hoping to have peonies for my bridal bouquet. Peonies are typically a spring flower, but somehow Barbara worked her magic and I had a beautiful pink and white peony bridal bouquet. Barbara's prices are very competitive, but I think for the work that she does they are unbeatable. I would highly recommend Growing Wild for your special day, you won't be disapointed.

HIRE Growing Wild for your wedding!!! Everything was even better then I thought it would be. Barbara was a dream to work with. She was the first florist I met with-- and I just knew that she would be perfect and she was. Barbara knows her flowers, what looks good together and how to make it all work. I wanted LOTS of sunflowers-- and I got tones of sunflowers. It was great to know that I didn't have to worry about flowers, since Barbara and her team would make it all beautiful.

Growing Wild was worth every penny and probably should have charged me double! I loved my flowers. Loved, loved, loved. They looked like they belonged in a bridal magazine. Barbara is also an absolute DOLL to work with. I had a tricky color scheme to work with (teal-ish blue and gold), and she absolutely pulled it off. All my guests were amazed with the flowers, and the bridesmaids were in love with their bouquets. A piece of advice--I told Barbara to "go nuts" with my flowers and use her best judgment and I'm so glad I did. Barbara is an artist and I recommend giving her at least some free reign to let that shine through. I am so, so happy I did. I got luxurious flowers, including set up and delivery, for an outstanding price.

I have to admit I was an indecisive bride at first--when i first met with Barbra our color palette was one thing--and than i changed it once and than a second time---each time meeting with Barbara in the coffee shop. Barabara VonElm was the first florist that I met with...and after our meeting I knew that she was the ONLY florist I would need to meet with! Growing Wild Floral Co. is unique becuase Barbara doesn't have a shop--she prefers to meet her clients at a coffee shop where she can chat with them about their wedding day thems, colors, and ideas. Barbara is personable and intuitive but she also listened to what I needed in terms of my preferences and budget. I had very high expectations and hopes for my wedding flowers and Barbara created floral arrangements and bouquets that met my expectations 100 percent! My wedding did not have a set color palette...instead I wanted a lot of bright colors against neutral colored bridesmaides dresses and white linens. To do this I had to put a lot of faith in Barbara's ability to create brightly colored and fun--yet elegant arragements. And she did it at a reasonable cost, with great reposnisveness, and flexiblity. For example, when I said that I'd like to save some money on alter arrangements she was able to lower the price and still provide beautiful arragements. I think Barbara loves just loves working with flowers and with brides and it shows in the quality of her product and service.

Growing Wild may be one of my favorite vendors. Barbara von Elm is relaxed, friendly, professional, and incredibly creative. It didn't take long for her to figure out exactly what we wanted for our wedding (even when we didn't really have a clue how to put it into words), and the end product was fantastic. All the guests loved the flowers and were asking if they could take them home with them after the reception! Everything from the bouquets to the centerpieces were gorgeous without being over the top, and they made the reception site look incredible. Barbara was fabulous! I couldn't have been more pleased with the work she did for my wedding in September 2006. In our first meeting I described the feeling I was going for: romantic, soft, elegant but not too formal or stuffy. I gave her the colors I was thinking of - pale pinks, ivory, brown, greens. What she came up with was INCREDIBLE!! I was thrilled with her creativity and the quality of the flowers. I'm still getting compliments on the flowers months later. Barbara was very willing to work within my budget. I can't say enough good things about her!

Barbara was a recommendation by our wedding planner, and she hit the nail on the head with this one, too.Speechless is all I can think of when thinking of first seeing my bouquet, looking at the pew flowers placed on every other pew door, smelling the greenery and roses on the dinner tables and dancing under the kissing balls for our first dance. From start to finish, Barbara was a real gem of a find. I know nothing about flowers except that I don't like the way carnations smell, and love roses and Christmas. In keeping with our "not a red & green Christmas wedding" mandate, she made sure that the only red roses, very dark red, were in my bouquet and on my husband's lapel. Everything else was ivory roses and tons of other flowers I still could not pick out of a line-up.Mostly, I gave her a little guidance of what the overall feeling was that we were looking for and some of the flowers I knew the names of that I wanted there (others were supplied by Barbara and our wedding planner, Karie). Then Barbara did her thing! I am a big believer in letting professionals do the job you hired them for, not micromanaging (unless they are already showing they need it). Barbara and the Growing Wild staff are not people who need managing, that's for certain. Everything was absolutely beautiful and thinking how it was in my budget was even more astonishing. My mom took her flowers home (and they were still there 10 days after the wedding), and I have mine (yes, also still in water more than 10 days after the wedding). Hiring Growing Wild was absolutely a rock solid decision! I only hope I can come up with other reasons to hire her and end up with more of those amazing arrangements and floral decor.

I loved the flowers at my wedding. Barbara is a wonderful and very creative artist with flowers. I wanted each of my bridesmaids to have a unique bouquet with flowers that represented their unique personalities. Barbara developed a wonderful collection of hand-tied bouquets that included peruvian lillies, roses, gerber daisies, etc. And my bouquet was a wonderful deep red that looked wonderful against my white dress. Barbara was wonderful to work with, so responsive and supportive in the crazy months running up to the wedding!

I think we found the best florist in town (well, she lives way out of town, but still!)! Travis and I went to Barbara with a very bare bones idea of what we wanted for the wedding - we basically told her what the colors were and a few flowers we liked. Everything else was up to her. I totally trusted her to come up with something beautiful because I don't know anything about flowers or what would look good together. It was the best decision ever made because our flowers turned out to be awesome! The colors and arrangements were vibrant and everyone complimented on them. Barbara even added some extra touches here and there for us that I didn't even request - that's one of the best parts! Growing Wild is also very affordable because Barbara allows you to customize how and where you want to spend your money. If you're working with $XX, I know she can help you create and awesome floral scheme and you'll be more than pleased with her work!

Barbara was so original and creative with her floral design for my wedding. I wanted something that was simple (i don't like frilly or overdone anything) but I wanted it to be funky and unique. Everything was perfect, Barbara I captured exactly what I wanted. From the bouts to the altar arrangements and the set up of the flowers during the reception to the bouquets, I felt it had my stamp on it. Everyone was blown away which was displayed by how excited everyone was when they were told they could take the centerpieces (my coordinator had to quickly stash a few for me before they were all gone). I, personally, would recommend Barbara to anyone in a heartbeat!

Barbara Von Elm is an absolute flower wizard! I was so impressed at our initial consultation - we discussed my wedding details at length, including my theme, time of day, colors, and vision. She had me look through pictures of arrangements she had done for other brides (which was great being the visual person that I am) and together we created a complete flower itinerary for the big day. We contiinued to stay in contact over the months leading up to my wedding and were chatting up to the final days to insure that my favorite flower - the lady slipper orchids - would be ordered to my exact specifications. I was so thrilled when I walked into my reception and could see all her wonderful arrangements. Beautiful, poetic, and downright breathtaking. She is a true flower artist and I would recommend her to anyone.

Barbara was fantastic! She was super sweet and very easy to work with. A great choice both for brides on a budget (I was extremely pleasantly surprised about the amount of flowers we received for our budget) and for those who don't necessarily know much about flowers, like myself. My flowers were gorgeous! Barbara created them based on the words we selected to describe our event (e.g. romantic, elegant), our color scheme, and the photos I showed her of bouquets/centerpieces I liked, adding her own style. They fit in perfectly!!!Delivery and pickup was very prompt on the day of the wedding, and her associate who did the pickup was also very pleasant. The only small complaint I had is that the edges of some of the roses in my bouquet and on my cake were wilting/browned by about mid-reception. However, by that point all of our photos had been taken and whatnot, so it didn't bother me too much, especially given how great everything else looked. In fact, my bridesmaids took their bouquets home and put them in water and said they looked fresh and beautiful for several days afterward. Overall, we are so glad we were able to book Barbara!! Highly recommend.

Barbara is amazing! I met with her and had a very vague idea of what I wanted and she was able to capture, put into words and conceptualize the look I was hoping to achieve. Barbara was very thorough in her questions (ranging from the color of the bridesmaids dresses, to their heights, to my height to the shape of my dress). With all of her questions and information gathering she put together a great proposal. I always appreciated her honesty and direction of what would work and what would not. Barbara meets with her clients only one or two days a week since she lives further out in Virginia. I never found scheduling a time to meet with her a problem, but some people might find it challenging. I was slightly nervous, because she typically does not do mock ups of the flowers, but I knew that she had conceptualized the look and she "got it."The day of the wedding when she showed up at the hotel with the flowers, my mouth nearly dropped to the floor. My bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were absolutely stunning. A few of my bridesmaids(who have been in many weddings) said to me that this was the prettiest bridesmaid bouquet they have ever had!When we arrived at the Clarendon Ballroom for our ceremony and reception, the flowers and the chuppah and all of the candles were GORGEOUS! We used a lot of dark purples, lime greens and bursts of red. The flowers more so much more than I could have ever imagined. All of our guests kept telling us how pretty the flowers were and they loved that they were so unique. Barbara does a great job and is really willing to work with her clients to ensure that they are getting EXACTLY what they want and is willing to work with in budgets. I know nothing about flowers and she made this part of the wedding so easy and fun. I loved working with Barbara and want to try to find another occasion I can use her for!!!

I've read reviews where the bride has stated she didn't care very much about the flowers. I was not that bride! I love flowers and was so excited about them. While I wasn’t particular about what type of flowers or exact colors were used, I did have a very specific idea for the overall look. During our consultation, Barbara went through a slide show of her previous work and I yea'd and nay'd the photos, giving her a feel for my tastes. My mom and I collected vintage boxes for the centerpieces; driving out to Barbara's beautiful farm to drop them off the week before the wedding was a highlight for me. The day of the wedding was extremely hot. Barbara’s assistant Terry showed up promptly to set up and seemed undaunted by the heat, making sure their ceremony designs didn’t completely fizzle in the sun. My bouquet completely surpassed my expectations: it was big and fluffy, full of all sorts of special stuff, and smelled heavenly too. The bouts for the guys were so unique, featuring little succulents that withstood the weather. All of the centerpieces, arch decorations, and other venue décor were awesome. Our guests were happy to take home centerpieces at the end of the night. I cannot accurately describe how beautiful everything turned out and how it enhanced our venue. Barbara totally “got it” and truly delivered my favorite details of the day. Looking back, I gave Barbara very little direction other than a few inspiration pics, yet she somehow knew exactly what would make me happy. All of this at an affordable price too! I probably spent too much time looking at wedding blogs and inspiration pictures and ultimately I thought our final product was as lovely as anything I’d seen. I really enjoyed working with Growing Wild.

I really loved that my flowers were seasonal, fresh, and grown on her farm. The arrangements were beautiful and so were the bouquets. There were only a few things that kept me from giving her 5 stars and those were that the corsages and boutonnieres were wrapped in a hideous, cheap ribbon (so ask about that in advance). I had also wanted my flowers to be really wild and while they were beautiful, they were traditional. I would recommend Barbara and Growing Wild to anyone looking for affordable, fresh, traditional flowers.

Barbara Von Elm runs her floral company out of her farm in Delaplane, VA. As a result, there is no overhead and so her prices are much more competitive than those of traditional florists. She works with you to choose colors and set a budget, and then she fills your order with whatever meets your color and budget needs. It is best to work with Barbara if you are more concerned with color and “feel” (i.e. modern, traditional, romantic) rather than specific flower types. Her flowers were gorgeous, and she was very flexible when we made last-minute changes to the order.

I chose Barbara Von Elm from Growing Wild because two friends recommended her. They liked her because she was reasonably priced and, obviously, her flowers were beautiful. I found the first to be true - her prices were the best of any other company I talked to and she even came in under budget. My flowers did not live up to expectations, however. My bouquet and those for my briedesmaids, along with the groom's boutonniere, were a little tired looking. Although I really liked my centerpieces, some of the other arrangements at the reception were not what I had asked for. I found that Barbara could be disorganized and did not always record what I wanted after our various meetings. The thing that frustrated me the most was that she committed to deliver the boutonnieres to the church on the day of the wedding and then told me, the day of the wedding when she was dropping of my bouquets, that she was too busy. Luckily, my photographer took care of it for me, but that was disappointing.

We highly recommend Barabara of Growing Wild. She was even the florist for our blizzard wedding and the bride's flowers were still stunning. We are always thrilled when we know it's her work will be shooting. She is creative and amazing to work with!

Growing Wild time and time again comes in at budget and provides a gorgeous product. My clients are always thrilled with the bouquets and arrangements. Growing Wild is always on time at the beginning and end of the event. Responses via email are always timely, and appointments are easy to make. But ultimately it comes down to the floral design. The array of props is wide, and the quality of the floral is just stunning. You can't go wrong when you hire Growing Wild.
