My wedding dress and shoes were covered with mud, and they told me it wouldn't be a problem. I had my doubts, but when I saw the dress it looked like the day I bought it. They did a great job with my shoes, and I know they can be very challenging to clean. Kimmel's even let my grandmother-in-law come in to see how it was bustled and packaged. I was very happy with my experience with Kimmel's. Emily

Thank you Emily for your trust in us. Yes the shoes were a challenge. You can thank Mr. Kimmel personally for that one, as he took charge of cleaning those items himself. It was a pleasure to work with you.

I cannot say enough about the service that I received at Kimmel Cleaners. I have decided to wear my Mother's wedding gown for my wedding on 9-9-11. The dress had yellowed significantly over the past 38 years and there were several stains so I searched high and low looking for a restoration specialist that I could trust this gown with. I live in Chicago so one would think that I would be able to find a reliable cleaner there...but I couldn't. So on a trip back to Cleveland I stopped by Kimmel Cleaners to drop off my Mom's gown. First of all, customer service was amazing and they all seemed to be just as excited about the gown as I was. Secondly, the time frame to have the dress restored was just over a week. And lastly, my Mom's dress/my dress turned out absolutely perfect!!!! I highly recommend Kimmel Cleaners for gown restoration!!!!!

About The Kimmel Corporation - Gown Preservation and Restoration
Our Thoroughness and Attention to Detail Guarantee Great Results...
Free Evaluation: We will gladly give you a free consultation and estimate for the care of any fabric, new or old.
Hand-cleaning: We hand treat and clean each gown individually- never in combination with other dresses. We take every precaution to protect delicate beads, embroidery, and lace during the cleaning process.
Anti-Sugar Stain Treatment: Spills containing sugar, salt, and acid often dry clear and cannot be seen. These latent stains do not dissolve during ordinary dry cleaning and turn an ugly brown over time. Our unique anti-sugar stain treatment, featured in Modern Bride and Bride's, ensures that all sugar, salt, and acid- seen or unseen- is removed.
Personal Insection Available: We encourage you to inspect your gown before our MuseumCare preservation is completed.
Environmentally Pure, Lasting Protection: Vacuum or plastic seals and other acidic materials damage gowns. Ordinary boxes and tissuse will leave dark brown streaks on the fabric causing a "burn" looking mark wherever it touches the box. We use a trademarked MuseumCare wedding chest that is completely acid free, not just pH neutral, and acid-free tissue to protect your gown.
International Guarantee: Members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists are represented in more than 500 cities around the world. Improper handling of the gown without the supervision of a Wedding Gown Specialist may cause the damage and compromise the preservation of your gown.
FAQ for The Kimmel Corporation - Gown Preservation and Restoration
The True Preservation process should be done as soon as possible after the wedding, before stains have a chance to set or invisible sugars can carmelize.
What can I expect if my gown is preserved?
The goal of gown preservation is to insure that today's gown maintains it's color and fabric integrity for future generations. There should be no yellowing of the gown and not disintegration of the fabric.
How is a "True Preservation' different from Heirlooming?
As it is practiced by most dry cleaners, heirlooming is nothing more than dry cleaning the gown and sealing it in a box. A True Preservation involves several important steps that together will insure success. Vacuum or plastic seals and other acidic materials damage gowns. We use acid-free tissue to protect your gown and enclose it in a completely acid-free, archival-quality wedding chest. Acid-free windows for viewing of your treasured memories are also available.
