We cannot say enough GREAT things about Greg and his staff at the Millennium Center. We had a large wedding of over 300 people and made if through the whole thing stress free with Greg's help! To start, the venue is break taking! An old Federal building that has been restored into a beautiful venue with the best lighting, sound system, and staff around! We had a unique sports themed wedding that the Millennium Center help make everything we ever dreamed of and more! We met multiple times with Greg and the staff to iron out details and finalized plans. The venue was open to us all day prior to set up. When we arrived for the reception Greg had made special reserved parking spots for us and for our close family members. When we walked in, we couldn't believe our eyes, it was just perfect inside! Everything was set up as we has discussed, the food was unbelievable and the professionalism of the staff was second to none! At the conclusion of the night, Greg kept all our belonging for our parents to go back the next day, when things had slowed down, and collect. To top matters off, almost three weeks out from our wedding, we still have family and friends commenting on what a great time they had and how beautiful the Millennium center was! We couldn't be more pleased with our decision to have our event at the Millennium Center and would recommend every bride at least go check it out! Thank you Greg, Cynthia, and the rest of the staff for helping make our dream a reality!

Oh my!! It was an amazing weekend! The entire experience--from wandering in off the street just "nosing around" and being greeted as though we'd had an appointment-- to picking up our incidentals the week after the wedding--just amazing!! Greg, Cindy and John were easy to work with and always open to anything we wanted to try. They would take our ideas and turn them into magic! Truly! We had a rehearsal party of 125 people, a wedding of 250, and a brunch on Sunday morning for 125--they handled all 3 events with professionalism AND personalism!! Just so much fun!! We came in strangers to them, and left as though we'd been friends for years! It was so much fun, that I would like to work with them and help spread the joy they shared with ALL our families!!! They worked endless hours that weekend and also held 3 other events and never once missed a beat!!! Perfect 10's on everything!!

We didn't have our ceremony at the Millennium Center, just the reception for our wedding. My family is Mexican and we hold very long parties and these folks were very helpful with EVERYTHING we needed. From setting up the mannny tables we needed to restocking ASAP with beverages as needed throughout the night. The staff working that night were all very friendly and respectful to my guests and family and responded quickly with things we needed throughout the night. They even returned some beverages back to us that were left over and prepaid for! This venue was beautiful and we're very happy how everything turned out. Thanks a bunch ya'll. :)

Words cannot express our deep appreciation for what the staff did to give our daughter the wedding of her dreams. From the first day we met they were attentive to every detail, listened to our wishes, and dreams, and offered great suggestions that enhanced the overall experience. The Millennium Center is a "people-first" kind of business and they recognize that to the fullest. The hands-on approach to dealing with customers is truly fantastic. They have a extraordinary gift in putting everyone at ease, and then most importantly delivering(actually over-delivering) on your promises. On top of all that, the VALUE of the food and services they provide is tremendous. The venue in and of itself is amazing. The charm and history that it exudes gives the perfect ambiance for a wedding to remember. The high ceilings, the antique light fixtures, the marble floors in the ball room, the marble through out the perimeter areas, and the scattering of the various bars and vestibules where people can congregate and spread out, are simply the finishing touches.
Thanks to Millennium Center, Gregory and Staff for a "fairy-tale" experience for our entire family.

First class staff, facilities and food. Everyone commented on how it was the best and most fun reception they ever attended.

I cannot say enough about the leadership and staff at the Millennium Center. They are the definition of superior customer service. Each and every person went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. The venue was beautiful, the food was remarkable and the evening was everything that the bride and groom dreamed of. The wedding planning and execution were stress free and perfect. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Millennium Center to future brides.

Greg and his staff at Millennium Center always pull off a showstopper event. Not only do they ensure that all of the brides desires are heard and attended to, they are also flexible and able to roll with whatever punches occur on the day/evening of the event...all with a smile on their faces. This might seem like a no-brainer but I assure you that it is pretty rare.
As an event planner, I only recommend the best of the best to my brides and their families. Millennium Center is at the top of my list for every single one. When I look to MC for an event, I know that not only are they going to provide an amazing space with a top-notch sound system, extraordinary lighting capabilities, and unrivaled customer service, I also have no doubt that the food their catering division prepares will be out of this world!!

I had my wedding at the Millennium Center in October an I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful venue. When I saw everything set up in their gorgeous ballroom, I was so emotional because the staff did such an excellent job. They will bend over backwards for you and help you with whatever you need. They continually were making changes for me and doing whatever I requested with no complaints. The owner, Greg was wonderful to work with and overwhelmingly generous in his services. All my guests went on and on about the food and how delicious it was. I seriously couldn't say enough good things about this place. I really felt like they were trying to make our day special and not trying to just find a ton of little things or hourly charges to make a profit. One of my favorite things was the salon that Greg has with huge mirrors that made getting ready so much fun. He even let us use the salon the night before to get ready for the rehearsal dinner. I really enjoyed working with everyone and I can't imagine my wedding being anywhere else!!

There are not enough words to describe how incredibly amazing this place is! Greg and his team were awesome! They were on top of everything! The food was great! Our guests are still raving about the food, service, and just the awesomeness of The Millennium Center.

We actually had myson's Rehearsal Dinner in the Speak Easy at the Millennium Center. The event was better than I ever dreamed and Greg and his staff were delightful with which to work with lots of ideas and concern.
GUEST

The Ballroom was beautiful! They provided all the tables, chairs, linens, silverware, etc. which was an added benefit that I did not have to rent these separately. They also did the catering. All the guest were raving about how delicious the beef tenderloin was...too bad we ran out.
Overall, they are a great place for a reception as they provide everything except the cake and entertainment, which makes the planning process easier on the bride and...

Thanks Greg for a great evening. I would surely recommend the Millennium Center to anyone looking for a fun and great venue

Greg and the entire staff at the Millennium Center helped us create a beautiful and memorable wedding day. Greg was wonderful to work with. I have to admit, I lost steam in the final days of the planning process, but I had nothing to worry about with Greg and his crew behind the scenes. The food was delicious, the decor was beautiful and the attention to detail was beyond what I would have provided for myself. The staff even made sure to bring the wedding party hors d'oeuvres while we took our pictures so we wouldn't miss out on the food everyone else was enjoying. They were flexible and accommodating, and we received so many compliments on what a wonderful day it was. Thanks for all your work!

The Millennium Center provided the ceremony and reception site and the food for the event. First, lets start with the good. The food from Millennium Catering is wonderful. All of my guest enjoyed it. They really work well in the kitchen! The value for the catering is great and compared to other companies is quite affordable. Also, the venue itself is wonderful. If you can get past the fact that it's in downtown Winston-Salem and you'll have to deal with parking then it's a great building. Now for the not so good. I found that throughout the planning of my wedding, the information I received was not always consistent. For example, on the initial meeting with the Millennium, we were told that for the upstairs rooms, there was a 10,000 food minimum on Saturday. My wedding was on Friday night, so we were told that there was no food minimum on Friday nights. At that time we were booked for the downstairs room, but we were also told that we could change our mind. My wedding coordinator called back a few days later and expressed that we would want the upstairs room. At this time we were informed of the "change in policy" and that there would be a 10,000 food minimum for Friday night. Once it was realized that we didn't like it that much and would not be paying that, we were offered a "waiver" of the 10,000 dollar food minimum and offered a lower price of $3,000 for the room with an additional 1,000 dollar cancellation fee for the downstairs room--we still didn't take. I kept the downstairs room. What I find interesting, is that the person you deal with for the venue is the owner, so if there was a change in policy, he made that change, despite what he told us. This is just one of several inconsistencies. Yes, I would recommend the Millennium Center to others, but I would also strongly suggest that anyone who deals with them should get everything in writing, not just email but actual writing on letterhead. Overall, they came through. My wedding was beautiful, however; I did not appreciate a lot of the back and forth along the way.
Vendor response to review
I had little contact with the bride and groom as they had a wedding planner. We went back and forth for several months about which room, minimum charges and various menus. We finally settled on a room and menu that was approved by the Bride. The real issue was not how much we charged or our rental policy, but how could the Bride and Groom host a reception for about 100 guests with the ceremony, full dinner and bar service for $5,000. The Bride had won a door prize at our wedding show for a $5,000 credit at The Millennium Center. In the end we did everything we agreed to do and then some. As the owner of the business I reserve the right to make changes in my policy as need be but I honored my agreement with this Bride. Anyone who would question my integrity should only read our other reviews for the real story.

The Millennium Center was the ideal place for our wedding. Greg and the rest of the Millennium center staff exceeded our expectations completely! I had the wedding of my dreams thanks to my family and the Millennium Center. I still have people raving about our reception. The food was simply delicious. Everything was served on time and the presentation was beautiful. I cannot say enough positive things about our reception. Thank you to the Millennium Center!

The Millennium Center was the perfect venue for our wedding. The downtown atmosphere was perfect for us and our guests. The courtroom and ballroom were absolutely beautiful and needed little decoration from us. The staff was wonderful, went above and beyond what we expected. They were courteous, efficient and met every need we had the day of the event. We had several compliments after the wedding about how good the food was. It was a perfect day with the help of everyone there. I would absolutely recommend the Millennium Center to anyone for their special day.

THe Millennium Center was great! THe staff there is very helpful and extremely flexible. I was planning my wedding and reception from 10hours away and Greg and his team were the utmost professionals and very understanding. We chose the Speakeasy which had the perfect ambience for our event! Pick the MC - it's the best!

The Millennium Center is Winston Salem's prime event location. I am from the area, but my husband is from NYC so his friends and family were expecting alot. This venue went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable! Greg and his staff are a cut above the rest. You won't find anything like this is in our area!
GUEST

I used the Millennium Center for our reception venue. The building and facilities are top of the line. As a reception venue, they also provide full catering and beverage services. The food selection was great and the service provided in those areas was fantastic. They also have beautiful lighting as well as audio equipment that our DJ was able to plug into and utilize. There is not question I would recommend using The Millennium Center for any bride looking for a fabulous reception with top of the line service, facilities and catering.

Greg and his staff are absolutly amazing! My husband and I were more then pleased with our wedding, the staff made sure every little detail was the way we wanted and they really took interest in our specific event. Our wedding and reception was absolutly everything we dreamed of and more!

My daughter’s wedding day was one of the greatest days of my life and the most fun I have ever had. That was only possible because of the Millennium Center. I have dined and/or attended many events at so called four and five star facilities. None of them hold a candle to Millennium Center. You are ten star, top drawer, over the top fantastic. Some of the best food I have ever eaten (seconded by the dozens of people that went back for seconds and thirds of the shrimp and grits, beef tenderloin and turkey with out of this world gravy). Best quality food and bar of any wedding reception I have ever attended. Jerome (your chef) is the bomb – super nice guy and great talent. The entire staff had such a complete consumer satisfaction focus and attention to detail that I was totally blown away.
The facility was great as well. It was beautifully decorated and the floor plan allows for such flexibility (band had its own dressing room; newlyweds had a private area to regroup, etc. before the wedding party was introduced; early arrivers at the reception were served appetizers and drinks in the lobby before the ball room was open.) And the ballroom- wow! Perfect for a band, plenty of room to dance, tons of tables (there was a seat available for every single guest) and still plenty of room for the buffet stages. All of this at a very, very reasonable price.
Anyone having a wedding reception in Winston-Salem would be crazy to go anywhere else. I just wish I had another daughter so I could do it again!
Greg, kudos to you and all of your family and staff that made this such a great day in our lives. You are the best!

We held the rehearsal dinner at the Millenium Center. The service was wonderful and the food exceptional. We were very pleased with the event and would not hesitate to use the facility in the future.

You guys are awesome. We were very pleased with the services your provided, the look of the room, the food, etc. Basically everything you did was absolutely great!!!

Greg and the entire team at the Millennium Center were wonderful. They went above and beyond to accommodate my every request. The reception turned out more beautifully and elegant than I could have ever imagined. We received SO many compliments from our guests about how amazing our wedding was and great the food was. Everything was perfect and the entire reception went off with out a hitch. I wish we could repeat the night every weekend. The Millennium Center is hands down the best venue in Winston-Salem, and we looked at several. This place is unique and can accommodate any bride on her wedding day.

Greg and his staff were extremely helpful to us. Their willingness to make everything exactly as we wanted it was awesome. The food was excellent, the facilities were beautiful, and the decor was outstanding. I would definitely recommend using the catering services of the Millennium Center along with the decor and setup that they offered. We had no problems at all with anything that they provided for us.
GUEST

We were thrilled with our reception at The Millennium Center. From the beginning we had great communication via email and had many face-to-face meetings as well. Greg Carlyle, the owner, was so helpful in taking us around the venue and describing the different ways we could utilize the space. Greg and his staff were always willing to go the extra mile to please us.
Greg and his staff prepared a wonderful tasting for my family, fiance, and I. He was even willing to tweak current dishes and create new dishes if we desired. It was hard to choose between all of the tasty things we tried.
We loved that The Millennium Center was already equipped with tables, chairs, plates, glasswear, serveware, basic tablecloths & napkins, and silverware - all of which were beautiful. It was great that we didn't have to rent these items. Additionally The Millennium Center coordinated well with the rental company that provided our table overlays. It was also easy for all of our other vendors to coordinate delivery and set up (florist, cake, band).
We felt comfortable leaving the execution and setup up to The Millennium Center, and we were not disappointed. The tables, drapes, and other decor were set up perfectly. We also appreciated the extra little things they did to make the reception so beautiful like special lighting and extra votive candles. These design touches really completed everything. The reception and food service went very smoothly.
I wouldn't have changed a thing!
GUEST

The Millennium Center director and staff ensured that my daughters reception was the most memorable and beautiful event for our family and guests. The venue provided a stunning backdrop in our photos and the food was so amazing that it is still talked about today as one of the best wedding receptions our guests have attended. My daughter and our family are so grateful to the staff at The Millennium Center and would recommend them to any and all that are looking for an event never to forget.

There is no better place in town to have a wedding reception. Greg and all of the staff go way above and beyond to make sure everything is how you want and have excellent ideas to make your night memorable. Our night could not have gone more flawlessly and we had several guests comment that it was the nicest wedding reception they had ever attended!
GUEST

Greg and his staff went above and beyond to provide exceptional service. We love the Millennium Center and our reception was fabulous! The food was also amazing. Wish we could do it again this weekend. I absolutely recommend booking events with Greg at the Millennium Center! He cares about the quality of the event and your happiness is guaranteed.
GUEST

We had our reception at the Millennium Center a few weeks ago. I could not have been happier! Greg and the rest of his staff went above and beyond to make our wedding day perfect. The food was fabulous, the venue looked awesome, and everything went wonderfully!!!!

First, we had a beautiful wedding day! The MC is beautiful, no doubt a unique and fun place to host your party and the fact that they take care of almost everything is a huge bonus. We were in the "speakeasy" in the basement which we chose because it needs little to no decorating, is very intimate, and has a saucy feel. What a great space.
We did have a few complaints. Greg can be difficult to get ahold of, which can be stressful for a bride planning her own day. A few emails I had to send more than once to get a response and setting up a meeting was hit or miss once our date was booked.
Greg made a lot of promises about our day-- how to make it better, easier, more fun--we were so excited, and honestly, he fulfilled most of them. But when you are told that more will be done than promised and you get less, it can be a little disappointing. Examples: told would be 200+ votives scattered and were more like 20 aside from what was on tables. Sauces missing from appetizers, and an option missing from the buffet line. 1-2 items for setup missing the next day and not found.
These are small things overall and we loved our evening, but if everything else during the day hadn't been so perfect, these might have mattered a bit more. And if you are someone who needs to know exactly what you are getting, this would likely be very stressful!
The folks working our event were wonderful and helpful, did most anything we needed. Our guests loved the evening and had no idea that anything was missing. Would we do anything different, sure, but we still loved our day.
GUEST

The Millienium Center and the services they provide were wonderful. It was great to have the catering taken care of by the MC staff. It was one less thing for me to coordinate the day of the wedding. The food was wonderful too!
This is the best place to have a BIG wedding in the traid area.
GUEST

Greg does a fantastic job of making your special day just that, special. The venue is beautiful and the food is amazing. He takes you step-by-step through the process and makes life a lot easier when planning your wedding. The staff is professional, the presentation is amazing. The only thing we would have changed would be TO MAKE IT LAST LONGER! Great job Greg!!

We held both our ceremony and reception at the Millennium Center. The ceremony was on the second floor in the historic courtroom, the cocktail hour was in the foyer on the main level and the reception was in the ballroom also on the main level.
We had approximately 130 people and it was comfortable. Some curtains were pulled to block off areas of the ballroom so that the room did not "swallow" our guests.
We loved:
There is no set wedding packages. You can create whatever type of menu you would like.
We disliked:
There is no set wedding package - you create a whatever type of menu you would like. This was difficult for us. Although the flexibility was amazing, we wanted to be pointed in some sort of direction. And because of this, there is no price list associated with anything. This meant that we went through a lot of work to put together a proposed menu only to find out that it would be way out of our price range. Several revisions ensued as it was very much a "well, how much would it cost if we did this instead of that."
We loved:
- That we could drop our stuff off the week before the wedding - 7 HUGE tubs of decorations and supplies.
- Greg and his crew did an amazing job of polishing all of the wood in the courtroom before our big day
- Whenever we visited the venue, we were able to walk around and "hang out" as we figured stuff out
What we disliked:
- The lack of formal meetings. Greg never wrote anything down and relied on us to send emails with all of the details we just discussed (which I probably would have done even if he had written down - like you would do with most vendors)
- We had a day of coordinator who was to ASSIST with set up. When she came with us for our walk thru two weeks before the wedding, she was told set up would take place Sunday morning. Instead, she was pulled out of our rehearsal dinner (which was held int he basement - also awesome) and asked to help set up then. She was unprepared and I thought it was unprofessional to pull her out of our party. Additionally, she ended up doing most of the decorating the next day herself as the MC's staff was instructed not to arrive until 4pm (our wedding was at 5:30).
- We had a buffet dinner and the food was amazing, but there was only enough for people to take a small helping. And when my husband and I wanted to go back for some more, only vegetables were left.
- They were not ready for dinner to begin (even though we were running a few minutes behind schedule) and were still putting food on the buffet as we were going through the lines. This was after a cocktail hour, parent welcome speech, bride and groom welcome speech, first dance and parent dances.
- Though we mentioned that we had a big drinking crowd SEVERAL times leading up to our wedding and that they should have more alcohol on hand, they ran out. And not only did they run out of alcohol, they ran out of some sodas as well.
- The carving station attendant was wearing jeans. He was wearing black shorts to our rehearsal dinner (and was also working at a different wedding upstairs that night as well).
- A bartender yelled at guests when they requested more drinks after last call. Last call was only made to those standing at the bar - they never asked the band to announce it or anything.
-There was no champagne for our toast as we requested - however, they did give us white wine which worked fine.
We loved:
- That we could come and clean up the next day - didn't have to worry about doing it after the wedding.
- There is no time frame that you must be in or out of the building and no "extra hour" fees. We basically had the run of the place so long as we didn't disturb any other events.
- the venue is beautiful and truly unique
- it was by far the best deal we found. we live outside of Charlotte and chose Winston-Salem for no other reason except this venue.
- All of the lighting is included in the price.
It seems as though there are a lot of things we didn't like, but for the most part we loved the place. People are still talking about how cool it was and it is truly a great value. There is no way we would have been able to have the food and bar that we had for that price any where else. The building as so much more character than your average hotel ballroom. My suggestions would be for the venue to hire more staff and perhaps and event coordinator - or more staff so Greg could act more as an "overseer" on the day of rather than a "doer". We left on an antique fire truck which had spotlights that needed to be plugged in to work. The truck was parked out front and we requested that the lights get plugged in so we could take some photos after dark. We were assured it would happen, but it didn't.
All in all, I would most definitely reccomend the Millennium Center, but just be sure to have detailed timelines and requests.

Of all the many services we used for our only daughter’s wedding, The Millennium Center was the best decision we made. Working with Greg Carlyle was such a pleasure. We wanted it all, the look, the best food, and the staff that would make it happen. This location is large with plenty of room for a large reception with dancing. They even have a full salon for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready. Out of the many, many locations we considered, the Millennium Center was the most flexible; and the only one to provide the details we needed to make our decision. The Millennium Center fulfilled all special requests we had, no matter how big or small. Attention to detail, flexibility and their customer service were exquisite. They provided the eloquent, yet fun, event we had hoped for. Their experience was most evident. I would encourage anyone planning a wedding in the area to visit The Millennium Center. I’m a perfectionist and I was beyond impressed.

For our wedding, we wanted to find a unique venue. We visited MANY different places and I knew of quite a few since I had been a banquet manager at a local hotel for over 7 years. When we went into the Millennium Center to look around, we were amazed with the style and architecture of the facility. We then contacted the owner, Greg Carlyle, and boy, were we even more amazed! Greg was spectacular! He had tons of ideas for us & fulfilled everything he promised & so much more for our wedding! We could not have been more pleased with the facility, the staff, and the food. It was the most wonderful experience all around! Thanks Greg & staff!
