i HIGHLY recommend the Mitten Building. They are prompt professional and worked with all of our needs in a timely and responsive manner. We received our damage deposit while we were away on our honeymoon which I was impressed with. They keep their costs low which worked out for us in this economy. We loved the Mitten Building!

We got married at the Mitten Building on April 16th and it was perfect! We were looking for a place to get married that had character and history and The Mitten Building was just that!
There were a few things forgotten on the day of our wedding that I honestly didn't notice until the pictures. There was supposed to be Hurricane vases with large candles in them down the aisle and they were NOT there. They were also supposed to cover the window behind our "alter" and they did not. This wasn't too big of a problem because we had a morning wedding and the sun wasn't beaming in.
We catered our food from The Farm and everyone enjoyed the food. The bathrooms were dainty and clean and the service was great!
I highly recommended the Mitten Building to anyone wanting a beautiful non "cookie-cutter" wedding!

My husband and I were married March 20, 2011. We heard about the Mitten Building from a family friend and decided to visit it. This was the only venue we visited and as soon as we saw it we knew it would be perfect and would meet all of our needs. We booked our wedding about a year in advance and received $500 off for booking during non peak wedding season. All of the employees at The Mitten Building were all very responsive with phone calls and emails, and would double check on issues they were not sure of to insure our day was everything we wanted it to be. The Mitten Building has several vendors that they do business with on a regular basis. We ordered our flowers through Jami at the Mitten Building, and they were at a reasonable cost and beautiful (about $700 for bridal party, and family corsages and boutineers). We got our cake from Michelle's Bakery which is local in Redlands, and we catered with the Farm Artisan which is also local. Both vendors were very easy to work with and ourselves and our guests were very pleased with the food. The Mitten Building was willing to work with us because we brought in several pieces of our own decor (they set up the tables, reception and ceremony areas, but at the end of the night we were responsible for taking the decor down and putting it away). On the day we had a wedding coordinator provided by the site for the ceremony. Overall they were very easy to work with and communicate with. We went in a couple times to book, set up flowers and final reception details and each time we were catered to and they overall met our wants and needs. This is a family owned venue and overall gave us a family feel during the whole planning process (very stress free). We had about 125 guests and paid $725 for ceremony and $3500 for reception. We had a cash bar, which was nice because they recently renovated their bottom floor into a vintage looking bar (which was a nice place for guests to mingle). We were given some discounts for booking our date in advance and nonpeak season, discount on flowers for being flexible with Jami's schedule for planning, and we were comped our dance floor ($500). Overall my husband and I were very pleased with our wedding at The Mitten Building and our whole planning process before.

I just got married at the Mitten Building in March, and it was wonderful! The venue, the staff, everything worked out perfectly. Everyone who works there is so nice, flexible and willing to work with you to make sure you have the event you want. Jami also did our flowers and they were affordable and absolutely beautiful!!
It is definitely more work to put together a wedding, at a venue like this, where you have to bring in separate vendors for everything (food, DJ, etc), but it allows you to really personalize and create the wedding you want. They have great recommendations for vendors that they work with on a regular basis, and everyone worked really well together, bringing everything together for our event.
I would definitely recommend having an event at the Mitten Building!

My groom and I are looking for a wedding location and we are open to most anything since the Wedding will be in Spring of 2012. I emailed the Mitten Building asking specific questions on the items we would prefer but are flexible on. I received the automated email stating the request had been sent. The next day I was emailed directly from the Mitten Building but not from anyone specific. It appeared that they dropped my name in a template and just sent generic information. Not only did it NOT answer my questions but the email was not signed or stamped by anyone specific. It further told me to call if I needed more information. Without a name or any personalization, how the heck was I suppose to get what I needed? It just seemed to me, without even experiencing anything but the face value, that they have no warm and fuzzies and treat you like a run of the mill client.
We prefer a more quaint, personal experience. Not to be treated like were just the next Wedding on their list, comparable to a cattle call. I'm sure we'll find what we are looking for, which are not high expectations, somewhere else!

We were very happy with the mitten building! They were so nice and wonderful to work with. They did a beautiful job on setting up the place and answered all our questions by calling us back! (we had some trouble with other vendors returning calls). Overall it was an amazing experience and the place is stunning! I will certainly be recommending them to friends and family!

My fiance and I were looking at Mitten building as a reception venue for our wedding. The inside is beautiful.
However, the business itself is completely unprofessional.
We stopped by one day and picked up some information and to take a quick look at the place. After seeing it, we decided that it was worth taking a second look at, even though the prices seemed pretty high and there were quite a few extra fees ($13 dollars for a bottle of Martinelli's apple cider? really?). We had read reviews on the Knot and other sites that indicated that they were willing to negotiate the price, so we called and left a message asking them to call back to make an appointment.
Then we waited...
and waited...
And finally got a call back 3 WEEKS later, after having left two more messages. We explained to them that we'd like to meet with them the upcoming weekend as we would like to book our venues by the end of the year, and this was our only free weekend (since they had waited three weeks to call and make the appointment). They told us they were very busy, but could squeeze us in with Jeff. At this point, we were excited. We were even willing to pay the exorbitant prices if they were non-negotiable, but weren't going to settle for the ridiculous fees if we didn't have to. We had every intention of booking our date by the end of the meeting.
We met at the building and waited in the office until Jeff eventually came out to meet us. We began by telling him that we really liked the building, but our only issue was the price point. We asked if the prices were negotiable he said it's possible, so we asked what was feasible and when. He said that if we booked before the end of Dec he could offer a $250 discount off the $4000 venue fee. He also remarked that since we were booking in advance, he couldn't justify giving us a discount more than that. He also told us that our date of April was during his "most popular seasons of Winter/Spring". We asked what months were less popular, and he replied "January and February", so we might be able to get a discount then (wait, isn't that winter?). When asking what kind of discount we could get for booking in January or February, he said that he couldn't really give us a discount. The backtracking was very confusing.
So I asked if some extras could be thrown into the price instead. Again, he replied yes, but couldn't give me any examples. I asked about the bartending sheet he had given us (admittedly, at this point I was getting very frustrated by his conflicting and confusing answers and was getting aggressive in my questioning). The bar must be supplied by the Mitten building and ranges from 6.50 to 9.50 per person, not including the actual drinks. I asked him why I was paying 650+ dollars for some plastic cups, ice, and a bartender that is costing him less than $200 for the evening. He told us that it included all corking fees and gratuity, and they don't nickle and dime people (wait, corking fees aren't nickle and diming?) However, the pricing sheet he had given us said that 16% gratuity was NOT included in the price. We ask him about this and he told us "We don't include that if you want to put a tip jar out, but most people don't because it's tacky." But, he had just finished telling us that gratuity was already included in the fees and couldn't explain why we now had to pay for it when he just said it was included!
At this point, we were very frustrated. My Fiance said "I'm very concerned here. We waited 3 weeks for you to call us after calling multiple times. Now we're having this meeting and you're not able to answer our questions and are giving us confusing and misleading information. If this is how you treat us before you have our business, what are you going to do after you get our money?".
Jeff replied "We're a family run business, we don't have a call center answering phone calls whenever you call, and we've been very busy lately. In addition, I'm very emotional right now, because a friend of the family just died and we're holding the memorial service today."
At this point, we're totally ready to say, ok, that's completely reasonable and we're sorry that you lost your friend, perhaps we can meet at another time to talk about pricing. So, we were STILL considering the building for our reception, until Jeff continued:
"I am losing my temper, you can take the quote and that's ok, or find somewhere else which is fine too, and I'm ending the meeting now."
That was a bit surprising to say the least and came off as very unprofessional. Stressful and emotional things happen in life but if you run a business, you should still behave in a professional manner. What happens if something happens right before a wedding? Is the venue still going to be able to competently hold the event? I certainly wouldn't trust Mitten after meeting with them. We left the building completely disappointed and frustrated.

Best value around for a beautiful wedding. Went the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied.

We had our reception at the Mitten Building and highly recommend their services. The building is very unique and if you want something with a bit more character than a hotel or country club this is your place. We used their preferred caterer and the food was excellent. Also, used the on-site florist who delivered bouquets on time and did beautiful work. Their bar service was great...we would stop by and ask how things were and they knew how much of everything we still had. We left our items (favors, guest book, table numbers, candy station etc.) at the building and they set up all our items and cleaned up as well. This is an invaluable service and often times you would need to hire a planner to do these things or have friends/family do it for you. To address some of the concerns stated by the other bride. The staff is stress free because they are professionals and their attitude helps to put couples at ease. I wouldn't want to work with people who seemed stressed out all the time. Also, my floor plan was slighty tweaked (the drink station moved) to accomodate my DJ's equipment which no one knew was changed except for me and which was done with good cause. Again was an excellent venue with great service.

We wanted to have our wedding in our hometown and the Mitten Building was the perfect venue for us. We had our ceremony and reception here and everything was an absolute dream- from the first meeting to walking down the aisle. It is family owned and the staff is extremely helpful in any aspect of the planning. This venue is unlike any other and was a perfect setting for our wedding.
We also used the florist at the Mitten Building, Flowers by Jami. She did an absolutely amazing job on our bouquets, centerpieces and all the other floral details. I gave her an inspiration picture and a few ideas I had and she went with it and made it her own- completely blew me away when I saw them...everything I was dreaming of and more!
I highly recommend both of these vendors to future brides!

This venue is amazing! As soon as I saw it in person, I was swooning. It's very difficult to find a rustic venue in the OC area, and the Mitten Building was perfect. It really influenced so much of my wedding decor choices, as the building itself has a unique vintage charm. There's also non-active train tracks just outside the building. Our photographer snapped the most amazing pics of us standing on the tracks.
As the other reviewer said, it's family owned. The owners & staff were so friendly and helpful. They had everything set up by the time I arrived so I had the treat of seeing the reception space before my wedding. Everything was perfect and I am so glad we decided to have our wedding here.
The prices were very reasonable. We also used one of their preferred catering vendors, which had the most amazing food. If you are looking for a unique place to have your wedding and tired of looking at country clubs, banquet halls and hotels, this is the place.

We loved having our reception at the Mitten Building. I had no problem getting ahold of people there and they were always willing to help. They were flexible with last minute changes and let us in early to set up. The only reason I gave them a 4 for VfC is that it is so darn expensive! But for the atmosphere and the easy working conditions, it was definitely worth it.

Absolutely beautiful place! This place was so cozy and perfect for our wedding! Our family absolutely loved it. I would choose this place again in a heartbeat. SO happy I found this venue, it is an excellent find. I absolutely recommend this venue to any couple who is on a budget and wants a dream wedding. You can be as creative as you'd like and the staff is very accommodating.

I would highly recommend the Mitten Building. The staff was friendly and courteous. They threw in lots of extras for the price (like candles, gazebo, other decorations). The Mitten building is a beautiful venue.

I have to say that choosing to have our reception at The Mitten Building was really one of our best decisions. I searched everyone in the Inland Empire for a nice wedding venue and it seems all the good places were in LA or Orange County. I stumbled, literally, onto the Mitten and fell in love with it. The building is family owned and run which provides brides with such a comforting experience. All the staff were so friendly and I never once felt like our wedding was a business to them. They seem to work best by email but were always available for me when I "dropped" in. By the end of the reception, people were raving about the place. Definitely worth checking out. Also the pictures on their website really don't do the place justice. You must go in and see for yourself. I have additional pics if you'd like to see them. PM me anytime.

Jami was very patient at first, but did come across as a little lackadaisical. We were a little concerned about the stress free attitude. The day of the ceremony, things started to fall apart a little. The flowers were not done until about 10 minutes before the ceremony, they chose to move tables around and change our original format (even though I had a seating chart), the candles and the runner were not out until 10 minutes before the ceremony, and they completely forgot to drape the tool and lights from the ceiling that was in our contract.

had issues with the caterers that they provided but other than that, the place is beautiful!

This is a wonderful & unique building. I had my wedding & reception here. The staff was so helpful and had many referrals for all my needs (catering, photography, cake, music, etc). Very detailed oriented. The venue was perfect!
