The Music Company - DJs, Musicians and Uplighting

I would refer anyone to the music company's services. The up lighter, dj and videographer were amazing! Loves everything about them! The photo booth was also a huge hit and had the best props that I've seen at a photo booth... Thank you for making my wedding perfect!

The MusicCo Team and especially our wedding DJ Kevin Sullivan were just so great to work with. Kevin did exactly what we asked during our reception with no surprises or hiccups at all. He both handled random guest requests and dilligently worked through our playlist ensuring everyone was thrilled with the music. He was fantastic.

It was a pleasure to have Chris Culkeen DJ for our wedding. We had multiple comments from friends that he was an excellent choice, and they were thrilled he listened to them and played their requests.
Chris mixed a variety of songs we sent him with the requests from guests and had excellent transition songs in between genres of music we enjoy. We were confused that Chris didn't play the wedding party dance immediately after our first dance -- but happy with his reasoning & decision of order. He played the wedding party song later -- his reasoning was that the wedding party song was upbeat and would start everyone dancing after dinner. Excellent planning on Chris's part. It also highlighted our dance, as my husband and I danced to You and Me by Barry Lee Polisar, which is quite a different beat then our wedding party song by the "Today" by The Smashing Pumpkins.
We were very appreciative of Chris's help and insight in planning the music. He is a very friendly, talented and easy going man, whom we were honored to have as our DJ.
Many compliments from our friends as well about Chris (we did not have a do not play list, so he accommodated our friends taste very well while we were busy with pictures and everything else). He also was very accommodating to our music taste and general style.
He kept the dance floor moving & we were pleased to have chosen the Music Company & DJ Chris Culkeen.

I knew I wanted live music for my ceremony, but I did not know exactly what I was looking for. Phil was great, directing me to different examples on his site and connecting me to the musicians that would be playing at my ceremony. They were able to walk me though my selections and help me build a wonderful ceremony. The musicians were very professional and sounded great. Everyone at the wedding was impressed! I would highly suggest them!

We recently got married in April 2012. The Hawthorne Hotel recommended The Music Company for our DJ services. I believe I initially corresponded with Phil, who responded to me right away about my needs for a DJ at our wedding. He answered all of my questions right away and gave all sorts of different scenarios for what I might do for music for the whole she-bang: ceremony, cocktail hour, reception. We ultimately decided to go with our DJ Chris Culkeen to DJ the whole thing. He was so awesome. We met with him before the wedding and he and my fiancee hit it off like they were long lost twins or something. If your groom-to-be is a Boston sports fan, he will have no trouble connecting with Chris so he might actually enjoy helping you with that part of wedding planning. Just be careful - a lot of our pre-wedding meeting was the guys talking sports, haha!! Chris was so awesome - the ceremony music went off without a hitch, the guests seemed to enjoy themselves at cocktail hour and the reception was fabulous. He even fit in a "family friendly" Metallica song during dinner, since my husband mentioned he would love to hear some Metallica but wasn't sure how to fit it in during the reception. If I ever have need to contract a DJ in the future, I would definitely ask Chris first!!

Phil himself (and partner) provided the music for our cocktail hour and we also booked our reception band with him. He was extremely responsive to my frequent emails, and when we ran into an issue with the band, he was prompt and effective in getting it resolved. He himself played beautifully and longer than contracted-he continued to play into our dinner hour which was awesome!. I would recommend him to any brides looking for a reliable agent and musician who was also very fun to work with. Thanks Phil!

My husband and I had our wedding this past September and the Copley Chamber Players were the musicians during our ceremony. They were extremely professional and played beautifully. I am a musician myself and tried several companies until I came across the Copley Players. They sounded exactly how their website sounds and had a huge repertoire, I asked for several songs not included on their website and they were no problem. Also I requested the players play The Power of Love by Huey Lewis as our recessional music and they learned the new music and arranged the piece beautifully, it truly sounded like The Power of Love and was a nice twist at the end of the ceremony. I would recommend the Copley Chamber Players for anyone who expects a professional and beautifully played repertoire.

BOSS was the best. We booked them on the recommendation of our Planner and a friend who is in the wedding business and had seen them at her events. They were easy to work with, professional, reliable and most importantly, kicked it on the night of the wedding. I would easily book them again.

We had Phil Steffen and another gentleman, both on the guitar, play during our rehearsal dinner at the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport RI. It was lovely. They played a wonderful selection of music and it was so nice to have live music in that outdoor space. It was just perfect. They did a great job and were a pleasure to work with.

Our DJ was wonderful. He made sure we were going to be happy. My husband and I as well as our guest had a blast!

Band Name: Boss

Boss was the best! They knew how to get people on the dance floor and kept the party going the whole night. All my guests gave rave reviews! They were excellent to work with and accommodated all our special requests to make the wedding very personalized.

Working with the Music Co was also a great experience. Phil was always very responsive and helpful and his input when selecting a band for the wedding was very valuable.

I have mixed reviews on this one. Chris Culkeen was our DJ. He was very responsive prior to the wedding and helpful when needed. On the wedding day overall it went smooth but there were a few mess ups, wrong first dance song (however he noticed that on his own and fixed it quickly), missed one of the entrance songs, forgot one of the toast. The biggest disappointment was that he forgot the bouquet toss. While I should have reminded him, he had the timeline and song I requested for the toss. That is the thing I have heard the most from guests that they missed the toss (my niece and little sister were the most upset, besides myself). However on a positive note, he kept everyone on the dance floor and knew how to read the crowd.

It was easy to get in touch with a DJ and the prices were fair, their were lots of options for price ranges. The DJ I selected even let me know when he was going to be doing other weddings so I could sneak by and listen. He did mess up our dollar dance though - he started it without making sure the maid of honor and best man were in the room. I was pretty dissapointed about that.

Michael and his assistant Corey worked closely with us to create a playlist. We didn't want any cheesy antics, just a classic master of ceremonies. When the dancing got started, they really read the crowd beatifully. I never left the dance floor the whole night! Having Corey there as legs to run and find people at critical times really helped move things along. Everything ran like clockwork and we hated for the evening to end. For the last dance, everyone was on the dance floor. I also asked Michael to announce the Sox scores periodically during dinner. I decided I'd rather that than have all the boys running downstairs to Cheers to check the scores. :)

I used D.J Kevin Sullivan and he was great. He was professional and listened to all of our request and also helped by making suggestions. We had a full dance floor all night!

Search Party has a very talented group of musicians and I would recommend them to anyone who is interested in having live QUALITY music with a variety of songs to chose from. Search Party even learned a new song for me!!!
