The Old Mill

The Old Mill is nothing short of amazing. The caterer and venue come hand in hand, and both are fabulous. The Old Mill is secluded and private, and provides 2 outside options (one in a brick courtyard, one by a stream), a tented area for cocktails, and an inside dinner/dancing area. The whole venue has beautiful flowers and shrubbery and ivy, and really is beautiful. It's a very unique venue, staffed with fantastic folks!! If you're looking for the opposite of a hall reception or the opposite of a country club, THIS is the place for you!!

I can't say enough of this place, we only had our reception there but the property was amazing. The place is very nice and rustic. It was a great place for pictures. The Bar was nice the dance floor was great. The rug was a little dated but it doesnt take a way from anything. I strongly recommend the Old Mill

The Old Mill is amazing!!!! It's a breathtaking hidden gem right outside the city! We were looking for a venue that would allow our guests feel like they were experiencing a weekend getaway to the country without the obligation to stay over.

The Old Mill is a 12 acre wildlife bird sanctuary that sits right on the Ridley Creek. It has a bamboo garden on the premises that is incredible for pictures and ceremony location. It is a perfect choice for nature lovers and appreciators of wildlife such as ourselves.

The cost is incredibly reasonable and everything you could desire is offered in their extensive catering menus which are provided by Connor Catering, the exclusive caterer to the venue!

I recently had my wedding reception at The Old Mill and it was AMAZING! All of our guests have not stopped talking about how unique our venue was. My husband and I are very much "foodies" so we knew we wanted to be able to customize our menu to exactly what we wanted and Conner Catering was more than happy to help. Being almost 100% Polish while my husband is primarily Italian we thought it would be wonderful to have a pierogie and pasta station honoring each heritage during cocktail hour even though pierogies were not on their list of options. Don right away said that he could definitely help us out.

Even the day before the wedding Don was able to make some quick changes to really help me out. Since we were providing the alcohol I decided to do a signature drink (blueberry lemonade). I thought it would be great to have floating blueberries in the drink but my father forgot to bring them when he dropped off the alcohol. Don said it was no problem and made sure he had fresh blueberries for us the day of the wedding.

Also, during planning he really helped us focus in on the things we wanted to stand out. He was able to look at the menu we created and determine where the holes were to make sure that everyone was satisfied, even if that meant we removed things from the menu!

Don Conner is very knowledgable about the wedding industry but if you have strong feelings about something he might not agree with stand your ground! When it came to the cocktail hour I knew I wanted white chairs but Don recommended the black ones. I stood my ground and I know that I made the right choice. Also, try to get the menu in writing. After the wedding was over my husband and I realized that some of the cocktail hour foods we thought we were getting never showed up (In the end it didn't really matter to us very much).

It might take a little while to get a response from Don during the prime "Wedding Months", but it's understandable and would not stop me from recommending The Old Mill or Conner Catering to anyone!

I just got married at the Old Mill and it was a wonderful wedding. I had my ceremony outside in the clearing in the woods, and it was gorgeous. The food and service during cocktail hour was great, and reception was beautifully decorated. Don Connor was very knowledgeable and helpful to work with. I would recommend the Old Mill to anyone who wants a unique wedding venue.

We absolutely loved the Old Mill! It was so beautiful and was exactly the setting we wanted for our outdoor ceremony. Despite the rain, we were still able to hold our ceremony in the picturesque courtyard and everything turned out wonderful. Don Conner and the staff at the Old Mill was great to work with and handled everything so well. He was very open to our suggestions and really helped to plan the perfect evening. Our guests loved everything about the Old Mill and so many people asked how I found it since it such a hidden gem.

The Old Mill is an incredible place, our guests told me all night how much they loved it and asked me how I ever found it. It's so unique, and off the beaten path so it feels very private. It is a total fairytale setting...with the outdoor settings. We were able to get married outside in the garden/bird sanctuary, the cocktail hour was in the tent and the courtyard(my favorite).
While planning I would have liked a coordinator to help me with the details but in the end everything turned out very nicely (turns out they know what their doing). Absolutely stunning...

I'm so glad we chose to have our wedding and reception at the Old Mill. The wedding site--in a field, by a stand of bamboo next to a stream--was so beautiful. It was exactly what we wanted. The reception area included two outdoor courtyards (one tented, one open) and the indoor ballroom. The outdoor areas are truly beautiful, with the ruins of the mill providing great sites for photography. The ballroom is also terrific--the stone walls and huge fireplace add a lot of ambiance.

Don Conner was a pleasure to work with during the entire process. Don and his family have been catering for several generations, so here's a man who really knows his business. We were nervous at first because we wanted to have a lot of unique and different elements to our wedding, but Don was really flexible--he's done this so many times that he likes having new challenges. There were plenty of options for chairs and linens (he let me change the linen colors three times). We had a great menu to choose from and the food was terrific! We also did a brownie display and ice cream bar instead of a cake--I personally can't stand wedding cake, so this was important to me, and Don made it happen and our guests loved it. Don was great too with the little last-minute details that came up, including our DIY photo booth. He worked with me and the photographer to set the booth up and put my mind at ease that it would come together. Don's staff was also terrific on the day of--they were professional and helpful and wouldn't let my mother do anything. We really appreciated everything they did. My wedding went smoothly and beautifully!

The Old Mill is beautiful. The court yard has a rustic Old World look. We were suppose to have our wedding near the creek and cocktail hour in the court yard, but, it rained and the Old Mill was prepared and it was great and beautiful anyway.

The food was fantastic, the setting beautiful. Our May wedding was a wonderful experience. Many people commented on the setting, an 18th c. mill on Ridley creek next to a bird preserve. The food was absolutely amazing, we chose a family style setting and it created an ambiance of togetherness as our families became one.

We recently had our wedding at the Old Mill with Conner Catering as the caterer (only option as they run the venue). The Old Mill is gorgeous with so many different areas to offer that are all beautiful. We fell in love with the venue and booked it right away. The caterer, Don, is deceptively organized - he literally would pull out pages of notes he wrote 15 months before our wedding when we booked it. He's a no-nonsense caterer which worked for me, but I could see it being an issue for more needy brides. He tended to be a bit slow in responses to email and phone calls far out, but as our date got closer he was on top of things. The options in chairs, table linens, etc was fantastic, and the menu was completely customizable. Everyone loved our mashed potato bar and gourmet sliders! the wait staff was a little less professional, as one man was challenging the Marines in our wedding party to a push up contest. Leena, our on site coordinator was fantastic! All in all I would suggest the Old Mill as a venue to other brides, on the stipulation that they are not overly needy in immediate responses.
