The Otesaga Hotel

I'm so glad I had my wedding at the Otesaga. Many of my guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to and this is due in large part to the location. I took off a half point for flexibility because you have to use their in-house caterer. That being said, the service and food were very good and everything ran like clockwork. I didn't have an interest in spending extra time planning so the package thing was ideal for me. And while they have packages, you can personalize to a degree. This is definitely not a wedding mill.

Our wedding at the Otesaga resort was fantastic! Gordon Clarkson made sure every detail was exactly as requested. The facility was beautiful. The cake was made by the Otesaga and was beautiful and delicious, the appetizers were an excellent blend of choices. The entrees were cooked to perfection. Our guests raved about everything being so wonderful! The service provided from by the entire staff could not have been better. We would recommend to everyone to hold your event at the Otesaga. Gordon and his entire staff are friendly and easy to work with and interested in ensuring that your event is special!

Had the wedding and reception at the Otesaga. Gordon and his staff were so helpful through the entire planning and actual event. Every time we needed something there was some one there to make sure we got it. They supplied special diet dinneres at the last minute and the set up was perfect- just as requested. My daughter had her dream wedding !!

We loved having our wedding at the Otesaga and wouldn't change a thing! The hotel and location are gorgeous, and some of our guests said this was the best food they had EVER had at a wedding. The staff was amazing as well: nice, professional and very organized.

Our wedding planner, Brooke Tallman, did an absolutely fantastic job over the last year! We could not have been more happy with how everything turned out! She was always available by phone and email to answer a multitude of questions, offering advice, and keeping everyone VERY happy! We absolutely loved her!! The Otesaga staff are very friendly and attentive, the food was amazing, and everyone's drinks were always full! Absolutely fantastic day!!

We had a fantastic experience with The Otesaga. Our coordinator, Brooke, was very detail-oriented and ensured the wedding ran smoothly. The venue itself is stunning and the food exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend having your wedding here.

Overall, the Otesaga was a great choice for our wedding venue. You cannot argue with the setting and the view. The building is truly amazing and is an extremely impressive venue for any event. Our planning process with the Otesaga was almost seamless, they were very attentive and flexible to our needs. The value for our cost was pretty good - the Otesaga did throw in a few things and was willing to customize and negotiate with the things that were important to us. They were professional throughout the process, but also very busy so we didn't always hear back from them right away - but would get a response within a few days.

One thing I will say is that they were extremely accommodating to us when it came to room setup and decor- we went with a non-traditional room configuration and contributed much of the decor ourselves but the Otesaga didn't miss a beat with any of it. The food was delicious and we received many compliments about the entrees that were served. The staff on the day of was very professional and unintrusive, allowing us to not have to think about anything and focus on our guests and enjoying our day.

The only real issue we did have was the extensive construction going on in front of the building on our wedding day, which was only communicated to us about a week before the wedding. Although this did not affect our wedding events itself, part of the reason we selected this venue was the feeling of a grand entrance you get from first pulling up through the driveway and into the grand lobby - which none of our guests could do because it was closed and completely fenced off. We also could not take any photographs out front. Management at the Otesaga was not very apologetic, claiming that the work was emergency last minute and unavoidable - which we found out later from a staff member wasn't exactly the case (it had been planned for some time and the Otesaga failed to disclose it until the last minute when it would have been too late for us to change venues). They also refused to give us any monetary consideration or extra value "credit" for the situation - claiming we already had been given considerable discounts on our package. We did not think this was the best way to handle the situation, even if they had added a small element to our package we would have felt considerably better about the situation - instead of feeling deceived. in the end, it was still an amazing day at a beautiful venue, but when you are paying such a large sum of money for a venue such as the Otesaga you would expect this situation would have been handled better.

Brooke Tallman and the staff at the otesaga went above and beyond to make sure that my husbands and my wedding day went smoothly and according to plan. She supported us throughout the entire planning process and on the day of she ensured us that it would be one of the best of our lives. I have nothing but the very best to say about Brooke and her team - we will continue to try and spend each anniversary back at the Otesaga reminiscing about our beautiful wedding day!

The Otesaga Hotel was a wonderful venue for our winter wedding in upstate NY! It was beautiful and everyone there was amazing in making our special day that much better. Brooke, who was our contact there was more than helpful with anything we needed. The staff was friendly and professional and I have had so many compliments on how wonderful the wedding was from all my guest! If you are looking for a winter wedding in upstate NY, this is the place to do it!

The Otesaga is a beautiful place for a wedding and for the price, it really isn't that bad. The food was great and for the most part they were pretty flexible on things. They did forget a few items that I had wanted for the food but no one walked away hungry. One thing that was kind of annoying was that when we had gone for a tour of the place we had asked if we could get a group of rooms we could get a discount and the person said yes and told us it would be around $200 a night with a two night minimum. Then when we went to call to group the rooms, they changed what they had said before- no group discount and price was way too much for our guests. (As the majority of our guests were from out of town) It was very accommodating when it came to decorating and putting things together- they did a lot- which was wonderful. But overall I wouldn't have changed to any other place around upstate NY. This is the best place to have your wedding.

The staff at the Otesaga Hotel is always professional and accomodating to me and my staff when doing events at the hotel. They always go out of their way to help, as delivering flowers for an event is not always easy. Thank you Gordon & Brooke!

My team of hair and makeup artists and I have been doing On Site Bridal Hair and Makeup for wedding parties at the Otesaga for the past 4 years and it has been a fantastic experience! The staff is outstanding and friendly. The view of the Otsego Lake makes for a breathtaking wedding ceremony. It is a very special place...mixing old world charm and atmosphere while keeping up with the times. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time which makes for a great spot for a destination wedding. The Grand Ballroom will comfortably hold up to one hundred and eighty guests for a sit-down dinner. The beautiful and romantic Ballroom is lined with parallel colonnades of fluted Doric columns and lattice-work panels. It boasts 20-foot ceilings, crystal chandeliers, windows on three sides and pre-Raphaelite murals original to the structure from 1910. Check out their website...you won't be disappointed.
