Nannette and The Proper Setting were wonderful. One of my best decisions regarding my whole wedding planning process was to let someone help me make decisions.

Kerri did an AWESOME job planning my wedding! She was very organized (something I'm not), super sweet, and really knows what she is doing! I am so happy that I chose her to plan the most important day of my life! She was there from begining to end and everywhere in between, she was even there to rummage through the bushes when the best man dropped my wedding band off the porch where we got married (she found it!) I feel as though I can not say enough good things about her! She made my wedding the most perfect day ever!

Kerri at the proper setting was a lifesaver during my the planning and execution of my dream wedding. I was fortunate enough to talk with Kerri on my first trip down to the Outer Banks, and she was friendly, helpful and honest before I even hired her. I was THRILLED that she was available for my wedding. Kerri took the time to get to know me and really listened to the things that were important to my husband and I for our wedding. She truly cares about making the event representative of what you want. Additionally, Kerri is extremely knowledgable about the vendors in the area. As an out of town bride, I needed someone to make strong recommendations about each vendor, and I was thrilled with every one. Kerri even took the time to set up a schedule of meetings on a weekend that I went down to the beach - we were able to sign contracts and secure all of our vendors in that one weekend. Being far away can be a nerve-wracking experience, and having a planner you trust is an absolute necessity. Kerri is your girl! She became not only a wedding planner, but a confidant and friend, and I was lucky to have found her! The wedding itself was absolutely marvelous and everything we wanted. She even managed to keep all the snags behind the scenes so I didn't know about anything and was able to enjoy my day. She is a lovely person, a knowledgable planner and a professional any bride would be lucky to work with. I highly recommend the proper setting and Kerri!

Want your dream wedding to come true. The best advice I can give you: hire the Proper Setting to assist you. Starting with our very first face to face conversation with Nanette and Kerri, it was clear that the primary objective of these women was to get an understanding of our vision of the perfect wedding and assist us to make that vision a reality. Not the easiest task given that our “vision” was itself a work in process. But Nanette and Kerri in particular, as she had primary responsibility for the day-to-day planning of our wedding, were very patient and helpful in taking all of our ideas, thoughts and the pictures in our heads – as well as on Pinterest -- and creating a focused “vision” for our dream wedding. With the primary assistance of Kerri, identifying and securing the ideal vendors went quite smoothly, particularly given that we were planning the wedding from 2,500 miles away. And when the vendors seemed to be unreachable or less than timely in responding to requests or questions, which apparently is a common trait amongst the OBX vendors, Kerri was very effective at getting the vendors’ attention and ensuring that they responded to our requests sooner rather than later. But without a doubt, the true value of Nanette and Kerri’s assistance came through on the wedding day. We had planned for an outside ceremony and reception, but the weather had other plans. This is where Nanette and Kerri came to our rescue. Three hours before the wedding with scattered showers lingering, Nanette and Kerri (and Eric!) helped to devise a Plan B that still managed to make the “dream come true” all while ensuring that a calm and stress-free environment was maintained leading up to the actual ceremony. Maintaining that calm and stress-free environment while scattered showers loomed over the wedding was in and of itself worth every penny paid to the Proper Setting.
Bottom Line: the Proper Setting made the planning of our wedding smooth and enjoyable.

Kerri and The Proper Setting were truly amazing for our wedding day and the months leading up to it. Kerri was...patient, honest, accommodating, creative, reassuring, in tune with our vision-we could go on and on. She truly did what needed to be done in order for us to have our perfect day. From 90 degrees during the ceremony to a power outage during the reception (LOVE those summer t-storms!), Kerri had our back. Getting a planner was the best thing my mom could have made me do! Wow where to even begin! I LOVE THE PROPER SETTING!!! I got married May 12, 2012 and my wedding planners were my life savers. I thoroughly enjoyed planning my wedding and I had absolutely no worries on my wedding day thanks to Nannette Kallestad was my main planner and Beth Palette who assisted Nan. From the first time I talked to her I knew I was in perfect hands. She is hands down the BEST! She has every answer you would ever need. She is SO sweet, knowledgeable, and professional, organized and takes so much pride in her work and loves her job! Anytime I needed her she always was there and if I got stressed about anything we would arrange a time to talk and we could be cracking up by the end of the conversation and all my stress was gone. I always told people she had become like another mom and dear friend! On my wedding day The guys were at a my in-laws house getting ready and had taken two of our vehicles so we were trying to figure out how we were going to get everyone at our house to the prier. I started getting a little stressed while getting ready and my mom made one call and Nannette was there in 10 mins. The initial plan was I would ride with my parents and Matron of honor to the pier but when Nannette got there I asked if I could ride with her to the ceremony. She loaded me and my dress and my MOH and we talked and laughed all the way to the pier. I will say again I Love the proper setting and I can’t not say enough good things about them!!!! We used The Proper Setting as our wedding planner for our wedding in the Outer Banks. Nannettee is the best out there. She was the most helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgable wedding planner. I would recommend them for any wedding or event that you are planning in or around the Outer Banks!!

The Proper Setting was amazing and so helpful. We were planning an out of town wedding and they provided us with all the information we needed as well as answered all our questions. We had some rain on the day of our outdoor wedding and they pulled together and made it all happen and didn't once worry us with the details...they made it all seamless. It was such an amazing and magical day and they made it all happen!!

Nanette was a pleasure to work with! We decided at the last minute to use her as a day of coordinator and were glad we did. She took a lot of the stress out of the day and was on top of any incident that arose (like our caterer letting food run out at the buffet- yikes!).

At first I didn't think that I needed a coordinator. Well in fact I did. For brides who don't think they need a coordinator at least get one for the day of. Nannette by far exceeded our expectations and helped me with the little things and the big ones. Planning a wedding should be fun, exciting, memorable and most of all stressfree. Nannette helped make that happen. She was very knowledgeable, professionable, personable and organized. I really can keep raving about her. She was a pleasure to work with. Always had a smile on her face and her voice. She knows so many people and vendors in the area which make the process very smooth. In some cases we even had her partner Kerri and husband Eric helping. Our Wedding was perfect and we couldn't have done it without her. I would and I will highly recommend Nannette and The Proper Setting!

As Mother of the Bride I cannot say enough about Nannette & the Proper Setting. She was the bridal consultant at my first daughter's wedding & when we found out that the second daughter was getting married she was the first person we called. Her attention to detail, her ideas, suggestions & solutions to every problem, her knowledge of the Outer Banks and the vendors-I could go on & on. But most important were her care & concern, her confident & calming smile, knowing that she was there every moment to attend to every detail. Nannette gave my daughters & their husbands & our family a gift we will cherish forever-memories for a lifetime.

You might not think that you need a coordinator, but you o! With all of Nannettes help I was able to be a guest at my own party. Best coordinator on the box. She has many connections to vendors in order to match your personality to the best fit. Couldn't have done it without her!

Nannette was a pleasure to work with. On your wedding day you want to feel like the guest of honor not the host. She allowed me to put all the months of planning and worries aside because she took on that role for me on the day of the wedding.

I'll keep my review short and sweet: excellent, extremely organized, efficient, smart and professional! Did I mention warm and welcoming? We live 4 hours from OBX and having Nannette with us during the planning and on the day of our wedding was absolutely priceless. We never had a single worry from start to finish and that alone is worth every cent. Thank you Nannette for everything that you did for us. Our wedding day would have never been the same without you!!!

Nannette was a wonderful planner. At first I didnt feel that I needed a planner but looking back I do not know what I would have done without her. She is very good at her job. The day of she was calm and really took every stress off of me. If anything hire her for the day of. I was 3000 miles away and it was such a great help to have someone who could recommend vendors and set up appointments and basically do everything that I could not do because of the time change. She was great, I have obviously not worked with any other planners at the Outer Banks but all of my vendors said that she is the best for them to work with and I truly believe she is the best on the island.

Nannette Kallested has coordinated quite a few events catered by Ocean Boulevard and she has been great to work with. Her staff is always attentive throughout the duration of the event and many aspects of the event, including behind the scenes production, are considered and managed well. They have a nack for turning unique places into beautiful settings for events that flow elegantly.

Nannette and her fabulous staff do the most amazing job of making your day go smoothly with no stress!! She keeps everyone on a time line without the bride or guests even knowing she's doing it! She makes sure everyone has exactly what they need at the right time and does a wonderful job of getting to know her brides and placing them with the vendors she thinks they will work best with. She also planned our wedding, it was raining 10 minutes before the ceremony, she picked everything up from the ceremony site that couldn't get wet, waited a few minutes for the rain to stop, replaced everything, dried the seats and we started on time!!
