Being very proud of my Irish descent, I really wanted to walk down the aisle to bagpipes. After doing a lot of research and speaking with a lot of bagpipers, I chose Robert Mitchell. Seeing all the different awards he had earned and how long he had been playing and of course listening to him play (he has a great website) made the decision an easy one. I had to change my date several times, but he was very patient and understanding and it wasn’t a problem. On the day of he was on time, looking very authentic and professional in his kilt, and stuck to my do not play list (only 2 songs that had been played at my Grandfather’s funeral) even in the face of the groom and his groomsmen requesting both of the songs! I didn’t really get to interact with him very much but I heard many compliments from guests afterwards. http://www.thereelpiper.com/

I would use Robert Mitchell again in a heartbeat. He was very responsive, had lots of great ideas, was an excellent musician, and was reasonably priced. He met my mom and I at the church to show us the kinds of things he can do. He played the Border pipes at my wedding (as guests were seating themselves, the processional, the recessional, and then as guests were leaving), which are much quieter than the traditional Highland pipes, which was great for indoors. He also piped us into our reception site and then play a number with our bluegrass band which was awesome. As a vendor, he never gave us any reason to worry that he'd be anything but completely responsible and perfect. And he was!

Excellent job and very highly skilled piper. He adapted easily to changing situations and provided a very emotional experience for our guests.

Michael and I really wanted a bagpiper for our wedding. Bob was one of the most affordable bagpipers in the area. He played the bagpipes for about 20 minutes prior to the ceremony, for the processional and recessional and then for the cocktail hour. He even coordinated a duet with my uncle who plays violin. All told, he was there for about 2 2 ½ hours. I was locked away in hiding before the ceremony, and we were taking pictures during the cocktail hour, so I only got to see and hear him during the ceremony, which was, of course, amazing. I love bagpipes, so I wish that I could have listened more, but oh well. Everyone said that it added a nice touch.
