The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station

The Riverhouse is the best of the best. They take the time to go above and very much so beyond to make sure that your wedding day is the most important thing to them. Their staff will always make you feel welcome and important. In my experience no one else can be better.

The team at the Riverhouse did an absolute phenomenal job. Hattie and Libby are with you every step of the way and do whatever they can do ease a paranoid bride's nerves. They are more than patient and extremely helpful during the planning process. My wedding day went absolutely perfect thanks to Mary and her team. There are no questions about where you need to be when and everything went smoothly. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

All staff were pleasant and took excellent care of our guests and wedding party. They had food and drinks waiting for us upon arrival and a private suite for the wedding party to relax in before the reception. Staff were always quick to get any information to us during the planning steps. A++ service and could not imagine our wedding anywhere else.

Our five star rating on each of the above areas was without a doubt yearned by the staff at The Riverhouse. They made our wedding experience perfect.

Everything about our wedding was simply perfect. From the moment we began planning with Libby, to the final song at the reception, the Riverhouse provided an amazing and extraordinarily rewarding experience. The venue was beautiful and the food was excellent. Our guests raved (and still rave) about both the cocktail hour and the dinner (the baked stuffed shrimp was my favorite, the lobster mac n' cheese, a close second). The mood was appropriately rowdy all night long, and led to an even rowdier after-party. Many thanks for the gifts of champagne and wine, and for saving the top of our cake. We ate it on our honeymoon!

The Riverhouse was amazing for our wedding. It was the most beautiful ballroom and Libby and her team made it so easy to have the best wedding. The Riverhouse is so accommodating, we had so many little touches that we added and wanted to have for our wedding right down to having their assistant banquet manager who is a diehard Red Sox fan wear our Yankee gear for our Yankee themed wedding. The Riverhouse staff thought of everything and made sure every one of our guests were taken care of. Our guests still tell us to this day how amazing the food was and how attentive and nice the bartenders were. There was not a single thing we would have changed and Riverhouse made sure it was perfect. We highly recommend them.

From our first meeting to our day, the Riverhouse was very accomodating to our every need/desire. The service was impecable and attention to detail was on point. The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station was an exceptional reception venue. We did not get married on site, but came to The Riverhouse after our church ceremony. The staff was fantastic! Very polite and did everything they could to make sure that everything ran smoothly and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had everything they needed. All the food that was served was amazing, especially the hor d’oeuvres! Our guests are still talking about how delicious the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Crab Cakes, and the Sweet Potato Fries were. Everything about The Riverhouse exceeded our expectations from making sure everything was on schedule to wrapping our dinners up for us to go so we could enjoy them later that night.

Our wedding was amazing! The Riverhouse was fantastic, the staff was professional, accommodating and helpful. The bridal suit is perfect for a bunch of women trying to get ready and provides a view of the lobby as people enter. It rained on our wedding day, but the staff quickly adapted and we had a fabulous ceremony at the top of the grand staircase, although it got pretty hot up there! The only feedback I have for the Riverhouse staff is pay more attention to the bathrooms; otherwise, impeccable! If you want a worry-free wedding, trust the Riverhouse!

This is a beautiful venue. It is run by a professional detail oriented staff. Your guests will be in awe from cocktail hour to your final dance. The food is amazing. You will be able to taste many options before you have to pick your menu at their tasting day (so much fun!). They offer the whole package, from the food, cake, and full bar, to the selection of different color linins and napkins all included in the per person price. They don't like to offer things al la carte though, so if you are looking to skip a few courses to save some money, this isn't the place for that. They want every event they host to be the best of the best; I can't blame them for that! Their off season weddings, mine was in March, was a great value. You don’t get to spend as much time on their beautiful wrap around deck, but people can go out there quickly for some fresh air. Parking isn’t a problem; they have a very large parking lot right in front. Just past the venue is the Connecticut river with the iconic draw bridge, and the Good Speed Opera House, and a cute little gazebo looking over the whole beautiful scene. Since this is just barely a ½ mile past the venue, you don’t have to go far to get some great pictures. We were able to take a bunch of beautiful pictures and be there in time for half of the cocktail hour. I loved the bridal suite! Only the wedding party is allowed up there, and they give you all the appetizers and champagne that you want. There are little “princess windows” that you can open and wave at your guests during cocktail hour if you want. You have your own bathroom and huge make-up mirror. Also, there is a balcony overlooking the reception room that is great for speeches, and for throwing the bouquet. This is a great Venue. Definitely worth a trip!

With The Riverhouse, what you see is definitely what you get – and then some.

Planning a wedding from out of state required a “one-stop-shopping” experience, and The Riverhouse more than delivered. I searched for all-in-one locations on-line and had narrowed it down to 3, but when my then fiancé, now husband, saw The Riverhouse website, the choice was obvious. Neither one of us wanted the typical hotel ballroom feel for our wedding, we were looking for something a little more classy and elegant, and that’s exactly what we got with The Riverhouse. I was already on my way to CT when I called Jim Bucko to make an appointment, and I knew as soon as I walked through the doors that this was the place – we never even considered anywhere else.

The overall atmosphere of The Riverhouse was one of the reasons we chose this location to get married. The layout is perfectly suited for events, with a designated area for each purpose. The proof of this can be seen in the gorgeous pictures of our wedding album. I’ll admit I was a little worried that having our wedding in January would seriously impact our ability to get a variety of shots. But the beautiful décor of the bridal suite, the subtle elegance of the stone wall & wood floor in the lobby, the soft glow of white lights on the garland embellished banisters and trees, the balconies at the top of the staircase and off the bridal suite, and the high ceilings in the ballroom – highlighted by purple lighting from DJ Mike Connolly for our event – all lend themselves to create a unique setting for any wedding.

Libby and Mary Kay were both helpful and knowledgeable staff members who helped make the entire process of planning our wedding completely painless. The paperwork may have seemed a bit intimidating at first, as both the welcome e-mail and actual packet said it would be, but in the end, it ensured that all the I’s were dotted and the T’s were crossed. Thanks to all the very thorough pre-planning, the day of the event went off without a hitch – figuratively, not literally, of course!

Everything, from the pre-ceremony hot beverages, to the cocktail hour hors d’ouvres and signature drink, to the main course dinner buffet and delectable wedding cake from Creative Cakes by Donna, was FANTASTIC! We knew the food would be wonderful thanks to the mock wedding event we attended to get a first hand taste of what to expect, but the feedback we continue to get from wedding guests lets us know without a doubt The Riverhouse was definitely the right choice!

The Riverhouse staff went above and beyond to make sure our event went smoothly from start to finish. The whole day ran like a well-oiled machine. Matt Rutty was ever present overseeing the transitions of each phase, yet unobtrusive, making the entire day appear seamless. I was pleasantly surprised when the signature drinks – which EVERYONE enjoyed (even my father who apparently had more than 1!) - were being passed on trays during the cocktail hour, and thrilled when one of the servers met the bridal party after the receiving line with a full tray of hors d’ouvres just for us. It’s attention to details like that which made the event all the more memorable for me.

In short, the location was beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the staff was exceptional. We were able to enjoy the entire day because we didn’t have any worries, we knew everything was taken care of, and what more could you ask for on your wedding day?

My husband and I got married in January in the middle of all the snow storms and it was absolutely beautiful! The Riverhouse staff went above and beyond our expectations from the first viewing of the place to the day of our wedding. The staff was exceptional with us as well as all the guests. I highly suggest The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station for any couple looking for a venue.

Absolutely a wonderful vendor. All the staff that night were fantastic to both us and our guests. They worked with us the whole year before the wedding helping us prepare and guide us in timelines and ideas to make it a fantastic wedding. We had guests that were high demanding to say the least and for them to compliment the Riverhouse as much as they still do a month later says a lot of how perfect they made our event.

My husband and I got married at the Riverhouse in August. We had our rehearsal dinner, our ceremony, and our reception there. There are not enough positive things I can say about Matt, Libby, Hattie, and the rest of the staff that helped us plan our big day(s)! They are an extremely organized staff and provide instant feedback to any question you may have (and we all know brides have a TON of questions). They are VERY accommodating and will make sure that your needs are met. The venue is immaculate (it looks like they clean it hourly) plus the food was out of this world! The Riverhouse made our wedding a truly remarkable day. Everything from the delicious food to decor to responsiveness and professionalism of the staff - they were a pleasure to work with. At the start of our venue search, in comparison to other venues Riverhouse rated #1 - due to the costs of what was included in the packages, the beauty of the venue, the ability to have a "Mock Wedding" and taste ALL the food you would choose for your special day, and the trust that the staff was there to assist the Bride and Groom and family every step of the way. We were engaged for 18 months and as we got closer to the date, and details needed to be worked out with the Riverhouse they were so flexible and responsive to our needs which helped the last minute wedding craziness seem bearable. The days were closer, and we did the ceremony rehearsal there and the Banquet Manager Matt, who worked closely with us was our right hand man every step of the way from the rehearsal to the day of. Without him helping us and our family in getting it to run smoothly, it would have been a challenge. He was EXTREMELY helpful as well as the waitstaff from start to finish on our day, it was one of the many ways The Riverhouse showed they were class act. We will reccommend the Riverhouse to any and all we can and we hope to attend more Weddings there in the future! Thanks for phenomenal memories!

They were able to help keep us on track with planning (as we did not have a planner), gave us great ideas, put us in touch with vendors that could help us, and plus gave us a great deal! The site was absolutely beautiful and we had both our ceremony and reception there! We couldn't imagine a better place to get married. Matt Rutty helped to run everything on the day of, and he was amazing. Not only did he help keep everyone on time from the maids to the men to the ceremony musicians, he also provided us with a great sense of humor and that calm we needed to get through the day. The Riverhouse made our perfect day the best we could have ever asked for...and the food...amazing!

Unbelievable service!!

We had our August 21, 2009 wedding ceremony and reception at The Riverhouse and we absolutely loved it! The planning process was so easy and I never had to worry about anything which was fantastic. The staff made sure that our ceremony went off without a hitch. I had countless compliments from my guests on the food and service that the Riverhouse provided. I have to agree the food was so delicious!! I can't say enough good things about my wedding day. It was the best day of my life and I can't imagine having had it anywhere else. I was extremely satisfied and will always have great memories of The Riverhouse.

The Riverhouse was selected by my Wife without my seeing the venue; I was informed that I would have no worries. She was right, when I finally saw the venue and met the staff, I was more than impressed. Throughout the week before our wedding, several vendors of ours (to include someone at the Riverhouse) had serious family emergencies; however this was transparent to us. Their service never altered. Our coordinater for the day (Ivy) never stopped to take a breath and as external events forced us to make some last minute changes, she was ready with advice before we were able to ask the question. Everyone had a great time, and the place worked great to accomodate all of our needs. We have nothing but praise for the service, the food, and the ambiance.

Everything was absolutely perfect from the moment of our first meeting to the limo driving away from our reception. You will not find a staff that is more accommodating or attentive to what you want. They made my wedding day a fairy tale come true.

Everything was beautiful. The food was fantastic. Matt and Libby were great and I believe her name was Hannah she made my night so easy and relaxed. the only thing I did have a problem was is with the dinner service. When we had done the seating chart we let you know where the mother of the bride was sitting and where the mother of the groom was sitting. The mother of the bride paid for the entire reception and was the last table to be served. While she was the last to be served the mother of the grooms table had finished their meal before the mob even had hers. That truly is the only thing that went wrong and even with that everyone ate and loved their dinner. I had the the best wedding and everyone that came has been saying how wonderful the riverhouse and the wedding was so thank you!

The Riverhouse was not only professional but friendly! Every aspect of the planning was a breeze, things that were planned one way could be changed on a whim. The Staff was fantastic working with Libby and Matt who are both wonderful made it so much easier. I got married on a Friday and my day could not have been more perfect! I was the only bride and the attention to detail and constant support from the staff was incredible!
The ambiance and food are also amazing and any idea you want to bring into this venue can be accommodated for. I highly recommend the Riverhouse to anyone. I work in the service industry and all I can say is I cannot get enough of the Riverhouse!

Everything went super well. We had a great time and did not have to worry about a thing. They kept us on schedule so nothing was rushed through. The food portions were also great. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the venue and the food!

All of our guests were commenting on how it was "the perfect spot for a wedding" or that the Riverhouse was "the most classy and tasteful facility". The staff was a dream. Each person we interacted with was knowledgeable, friendly, and beyond helpful. The day of the wedding everything went smoother than we could have ever dreamt. Every detail, every moment, everything was taken care of. Not only was everything taken care of, but it was done with class and elegance. We worried about nothing and enjoyed everything! The food was also the talk of the wedding! Guests were blown away by the quality of the apps and meals. Every day we receive more and more compliments from our guests about the facility, the staff, the food...everything. We could not be happier.

Our daytime wedding at the Riverhouse in June of 2010 was absolutely perfect!! Libby is great throughout the entire planning process. They give you a planning timeline which makes the week leading up to your wedding very stress-free. The venue itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend having your ceremony out on the patio, especially if you're having a day wedding. The view is gorgeous and it makes it very easy for guests--when the ceremony is over, they go straight in to the foyer for cocktail hour. Matt, the banquet manager is also great. He makes sure that everything runs smoothly on the day of your wedding and also makes sure that you and your new groom are not stressed and enjoy your reception. The bridal suite is beautiful and it was big enough for myself, my mom, and my 4 bridesmaids to get hair and makeup done on the morning of the wedding. They also provided us with fruitcups and champagne while we were getting ready. There are also many beautiful spots that are literally about a minute drive to get to for pictures. Our pictures came out great with the CT River and the Goodspeed Opera House in the background. Finally, the food is great, especially the Filet Mignon and Stuffed Shrimp combo option! Everything was delicious. I can't say enough great things about the Riverhouse. We have received SO many compliments about our wedding and I wouldn't have changed a thing! Definitely take the time to visit the Riverhouse!

The Riverhouse is great...they were so attentive and took pride in making our day beautiful, romantic and fun. Their friendly staff was excellent and professional. Matt was the best...I had nothing to worry about on the day of my wedding which allowed me and my bridal party to just have fun and enjoy the day. Thank also to Libby and Mary Kay for being on the ball with all my phone calls and emails. You all were the best!

Take the time to plan out your wedding...don't rush making decisions, take everyone's advice and input but make sure you choose what you really want.

WOW!! We could not have asked for more. The staff did an amazing job and the decor was second to none. In speaking with our guests they had nothing but rave reviews for the cocktail hour, food, etc.....the line at the bar was never more than 2-3 people deep. They even provided us with a credit for our wedding cake that we needed to get from another vendor as the vendor they used (Cake's By Donna) would not accomodate our request for a dairy free cake due to my wife's severe allergy to dairy. Quite simply put....they made sure that our wedding night was one to remember and would be talked about for years. Thank you to the entire Riverhouse Staff.....

My guests are still advising us that the staff at our reception were very attentive and courteous. Libby and Mary Kay were very patient and informative as we went through the entire process. The property is very appealing and every corner is so well maintained.
The general manager Matt was also kind and keep my wedding party on task during our evening. I would go back there for another event hands down !!

If you are looking for a venue that treats you as if you are the only bride and groom and that your day is the most important, the Riverhouse is for you. The price per head is a bit steep, but our guests were very happy and raved about the location, atmosphere and food.

I used Riverhouse to cater my OFF SITE wedding. I had somewhat of a unique experience with them, as the woman originally scheduled to coordinate my event (that I had been planning with for over a year) left the company only a few months before my wedding, so it was a little stressful, but not Riverhouse's fault. It was also unique because I was married during a hurricane, so many of our plans were changed at the last second because of weather. My high rating for them is due to the wonderful quality of the food - our guests are still talking about how delicious it was. Also, the server assigned to myself and the bridal party was so sweet, very attentive, and did an excellent job. The only real complaint I have is that because of the hurricane and severe weather conditions, many of our guests who had rsvp'd they were coming, could not come at the last second because of the storm - we still paid for their meals, so I feel we should have been offered those meals in a box to take home since we paid for them. I also had a few relatives who are police officers and had to unexpectedly leave the event before dinner was served, due to the emergency calls, and they were not allowed to bring their dinner with them which I felt very badly about. So I don't think I totally got what we paid for, since there were many paid for, yet wasted meals - however I do recognize this was an unusual circumstance and most people won't have this issue. So overall, I would say they are expensive, but the food is excellent and the waitress I had was wonderful. I can't comment on the other wait staff, but I was disappointed my relatives who are service men couldn't take their paid dinners with them when they left for the emergency.

Absolutely gorgeous grounds and premises. This place was just built in 2007 and we booked it before carpet was laid. We just knew it was going to be perfect for our wedding and it was. (We also paid less per guest, because they had no reputation and you couldn't even see what everything would look like.) Everything on their end went smoothly - the food was wonderful, everyone said how beautiful the building was and how much they loved the deck facing the CT river. There were millions of photo oppurtunities inside the building itself, you hardly needed to leave. The bridal suite was the best, baby blue and feminine with a vanity room big enough for everyone to put makeup on. I had my hair done there because there was enough room for everyone and it was so much more convenient than going somewhere else. The food was hands down the best we've ever had a wedding. My only complaint was the fact that they were setting up for the next wedding before mine was over. They were setting out name cards before my reception was 3/4 over. Their professional score would be a 5 out of 5 other than that.

Overall it was good, and very pretty. The guests enjoyed it, but there were a few things they promised but did not do. For example, the package said caesar salad would be prepared table side and it wasn't. Also, we paid for soda, lemonade..etc and they didn't offer them to our guests during dinner. Only a handful of people thought to ask, while most people thought we just paid for water, even though we paid for everyone. Lastly, there a piece of broken plate in my garlic mashed potatoes. Despite all that, I think the guests liked it, and it was a decent value (as we had it on a thursday). We paid about 80 per person for a Thursday night....I would not recommend this for the Saturday price of 130ish.
