The Tasting Room

We had our wedding reception at the Tasting Room this past November. We thought this was a great alternative to the stuff hotel scene where all of the other wedding receptions we've been to have taken place. Since we've been going to this spot for a few years now, it was an easy choice for us to consider for the reception.

Our experience at The Tasting Room definitely earned five stars. The space was beautiful with soft, romantic lighting, and a great open layout that allowed everyone to mingle all evening. The staff was great and extremely accommodating to our group, which included 6 young children. Because of the way the space is laid out were able to have a DJ and still had space where the elder members of our family could relax on sofas away from the noise. This was perfect for our family!

As far as working with The Tasting Room to plan the reception, it was surprisingly easy. The woman I worked with was friendly and extremely organized. After our first meeting she volunteered to provided us with an itemized estimate to help us figure out how much the entire event would cost up front based on our guest count. Having this info before signing the contract was great! I'm happy to report that these numbers were the same as the final total on the night of our reception, so she was right in telling me that there would be NO SURPRISES when it came to money. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated this!

I can also tell you that everyone at The Tasting Room really knows their wines. My dad is a bit of a wine-snob (I say this with love) and he ended up talking about great vintage wines with the GM for a good amount of time. He even asked the GM to come out and talk with some of the guys about some of the stuff they carry. This guy was extremely professional and managed to impress my Dad, which is no small feat.

Overall, I cannot say enough good things about working with The Tasting Room for my wedding. They made everything easy and didn't give us a hard time about any of our vendors like I've read about with some other venues. I would book with them again in a minute!

As a fairly recent bride and wedding photographer, I can say that I have seen a wide range of venues that ultimately reflect the individual couple’s personality and style.

What I most appreciate about The Tasting Room lounges is the relaxed ambiance. Guests can enjoy the distinctive layout illuminated by the Chicago skyline while enjoying sommelier service during the cocktail hour.

The venue also has a rooftop that offers a unique backdrop for a couple’s nuptials. The Tasting Room is sure hit for the sophisticated, urban couple.
