The Union League of Philadelphia

My fiance and I were both extremely happy with the services that the Union League of Philadelphia provided us for our wedding reception. Their event planning department and catering services were both wonderful. In the event planning department, we worked with Michele Gentile who helped us coordinate all of our different vendors. She was very professional, knowledgable, and flexible in helping us plan all of the different components of our reception - we had a couple unusual requests (a couple of ethnic traditions, and my fiance and I wanted to eat our meal on our own during the cocktail hour) and she was so pleasant and helpful in making sure everything went just as we had planned. Throughout the entire process, she was very accessible and approachable. During the reception, all of the waitstaff and bartenders were polite, professional and thorough. Wine came as part of our package and our guests said that their glasses seemed to magically keep refilling throughout the dinner service. The Union League also provides an individual in the room to oversee the entire dinner service and other parts of the reception (they have a title for him, but I forget what the title is). Our overseer was Willy and he was fantastic. He stopped in several times to us me and my fiance how we were doing and was very friendly; we saw him at several other points in the evening just supervising the room.

The building itself is beautiful and provided an elegant and romantic venue. Michele helped us make sure that the table floral pieces and other decorations were set up perfectly and she helped coordinate a few other touches (candles and uplighting) around the room for the perfect ambience.

The food prepared by their chef was absolutely delicious - our guests kept saying that it was not only the best wedding food they have ever eaten, but some of the best food period! We selected the steak or chicken with crab options for our guests, but the Union League had many more choices for entrees, appetizers, desserts, etc. The choices are all creative, but not too "crazy." The wedding cake came as part of our package, too, and was equally as yummy.

I have nothing bad to say about our entire reception and the event planning/food services from the Union League. I would highly recommend this venue. A+

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Union League and their staff. Our original ceremony location cancelled on us 10 weeks before the wedding. The Union League came to the rescue and made the ceremony and reception better than we could have thought! The food was excellent, the staff was excellent, the Inn at the League was amazing! We had a lot of guests staying overnight and they all had a great experience as well.

We were pretty clueless as to how to throw a wedding and the staff at the Union League were wonderful in helping us figure everything out. We really appreciated their flexibility and assistance in planning everything so late.

Once again, I loved everything about the Union League and am SO glad we ended up there!

This location is very decadent and formal. This was great- we liked the spot a lot. However, the food was just mediocre- we had a chicken parmigian that was just ok. Also, the open bar was not open long enough nor did they open it up after the dinner even though people were clearly hanging out. The staff made it clear that they were ready to leave. The room we had though was very nice.

What a beautiful venue! The food was superb -- we could not have found a better place to have our wedding reception!

Every single person involved in my wedding at the Union League was eager to please us for our special day. They basically would do anything we would ask and saw our vision through. Food was very good. Wait staff was excellent.

The Union League staff could not have been more helpful and attentive in planning our wedding. Our coordinator worked with us to create our ideal package at a very reasonable price. The personal attention our wedding received was amazing! The tasting was like a private dinner for my fiance and my family. We were able to work with the staff to create our idea meal and "signature" cocktails. No detail was too small for the Union League (i.e. it was important to us that the tables had pitchers of water on them throughout the dancing). We, also, held our rehearsal dinner at the Union League. The "Philadelphia" menu was perfect for our out of town guests! The food was delicious and the service was as attentive as on our wedding day.

On the day of our wedding, the personal staff my fiance, our parents, the maid of honor, best man and myself had made certain that where ever we were, that we had our drink of choice at all times and all of our needs and wants were met before we even had an opportunity to voice them.

We and many of our guests stayed the weekend at the Union League. The rooms were beautiful, clean and spatious. The brunch was delicious! And, the staff made certain that our welcome bags were distributed to every guest upon arrival.

If I were to do plan our wedding, again, I would not even think of having our reception anywhere other than the Union League.

My wedding was almost 5 years ago and every time I see our guests they remind me that my wedding was the best they have ever been to. We could not have asked for a more spectacular or important place to have our wedding. My husband and I feel lucky to have been married in a place with such historical relevance. We could not have asked for more.
