All I have to say is awesome, awesome, awesome. I love The Wedding Seamstress. They are professional, friendly, and provide great service. I was a little hesitant when I got my dress, but after it was altered to fit my body, I fell in love with it all over again. They made me look like a princess. I was so happy with the results and the prices are fantastic!!

I had my dress altered at The Wedding Seamstress. It was a pretty fast and simple process and the price was reasonable. I was actually pretty surprised at the atmosphere based on prior reviews, so I will warn you that it's quite posh! That's not a bad thing, I was just not expecting it. Everyone was friendly and my dress looked great! Two thumbs up.

Deedee is a truly amazing seamstress. I brought her a dress that was 6 sizes too big and probably a foot too long for me and she made it fit like a glove. She made my wedding dress better than I ever could have imagined! She was also very flexible and patient since I had to come back for extra fittings because I kept losing weight due to the stress of studying for the Bar exam. I can't thank her enough for the dress and the memories it brings me.

I hired Deedee to revamp my mother's wedding dress for my wedding. I would strongly steer others away from the Wedding Seamstress as I had a very bad experience. I'm not a difficult person to work with and found Deedee to be defensive, rude and easily agitated. She lacked communication and customer service skills. More importantly while she did ok with some portions of the dress, others were careless and lacked attention to detail. I really wanted to make this work and didn't want to regret my choice of hiring Deedee but I wish I came to terms with her professional limitations and personal shortcomings sooner.During my last visit it was clear she wanted to be done while I found the dress to look messy and unfinished. After an unsettling conversation, I decided to take my dress elsewhere and hired someone in Cherry Creek to fix & finish the job. The new tailor found Deedee's work unacceptable and sloppy. We discussed ways to rework the dress so it fit and looked better (many of which Deedee was completely closed-off to). If you're looking to enjoy your wedding dress experience, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

Wow, it took longer than we thought it would to see this review. This bride threw a little tantrum in front of our staff and multiple other brides as she pulled the dress without even giving us a chance to finish the work we were contracted to do. We would love to see before and after pictures posted of our work so people can decide for themselves as to the quality of our work. Out of the 1,100 plus customers we will work with in 2011 it is unforunate that this bride let her emotions get to her (as stated by the other brides watching, not us) and had to pay somebody else to finish the work we working to finish for free. As a note: the change from the mother's dress she brought in to the dress we delivered was significant and well done. Additionally, we fix other tailor's work constantly and never degrade the work because we were not part of the original process with the bride. A good business should not rely on trying to make other businesses look bad as a way of making themselves look better. Everyone seems to pray on the emotions of brides for business this time of year... it really is too bad.

I purchased my dress as a sample from a bridal shop out of state. It was slightly big on me, so I took it in expecting to need a hem, bustle, and taking it in on the sides and a little bit in the chest. Deedee actually determined that it wasn't necessary to take the dress in on the sides, and that by adjusting the bust a little bit, it would create the fit I wanted. I was so happy when I tried the dress on after the alterations had been made. It really did look exactly how I hoped it would and was very flattering. The only issue I ran into was with the bustle; we struggled a bit to bustle my dress right before the reception. I chalk it up to being my fault because I didn't take any notes when she explained the bustle to me (2 months before the wedding), and I didn't have anyone there with me either. So just a tip to other brides to be sure to take a few notes on those tricky bustles :) Deedee's business is definitely very busy, especially during the height of wedding season, so it can be a little difficult to schedule appointments, which is how I ended up having everything done 2 months for the wedding. Luckily my weight didn't fluctuate, and everything still fit for the big day. Overall though I was pleased with how my dress turned out and with the service at the Wedding Seamstress.

I could not be happier with this place. I had to have a lot of work done on my dress and it turned out perfect. Deedee knows what she is doing. As soon as I walked in I knew I trusted her because she was so confident. If you want your dress done right, go to her.

I had my wedding gown altered here and was not very happy with the service. I had some beadwork that needed to be done and was told by the staff it would be more cost effective to do it myself. I left the dress at the shop for some other alterations and was supposed to be able to take it home at the next fitting in order to work on the beading. When I went in for my second fitting most of the alterations that were supposed to be done were not, it didn't fit any better than it had when I brought it in! I was also told by my mother and my maid of honor who went with me to fittings that they felt they were rude in the shop. In the end my dress turned out well and it looked fine, but getting there was more complicated and frustrating than it needed to be.
Vendor response to review
Thank you for you review. We try hard to keep the cost down for brides on a budget, which can sometimes include suggesting doing some things yourself such as bead work which is time intensive (meaning more money). We apologize if this was seen as rude as it was not intended to be. Additionally, while we try to keep the number of fittings to only one (plus the initial time bringing the dress in), there are some instances where you may need to come back more times. In your case the dress needed more than one fitting and we are sorry for the inconvenience of having to make three total trips to our location. We hope that your wedding was great!!! Thank you again for the constructive review.

So happy I found this lady. She did such a great job, even built me a new neck line. She does wonderful work that does not cost an arm and a leg.

I cannot say enough good things about DeeDee. In short, she knows her stuff. At my first fitting, I tried on my unique twenties style dress I have not found the likes of anywhere but the consignment shop I bought it in. DeeDee immediately knew what designer, line, and year it was. She is a superior seamstress not only because of her skill with sewing and her expertise designing, but also because she is so knowledgeable about bridal couture. She knows what the designer had in mind. With that said, she is extremely flexible. From slight changes to better accomodate body type to the extent of redesigning dresses completely, DeeDee wants what you want. When I tried on my newly altered wedding dress at my last fitting, she asked me if there was absolutely anything at all that I would like differently about my dress. I was actually able to say no.DeeDee is sweet, easy to talk to, and knows just the right thing to say.Whether you're rich or poor, self-consious or self-loving, don't trust your wedding dress with anyone but DeeDee.

I had The Wedding Seamstress do the alterations on my wedding gown from David's Bridal(it was tafetta with a lace and beaded bodice). It was fairly expensive to do the alterations; I had her shorten the hem, and put in a pick-up bustle, and also take in the sides on my beaded bodice. I had an extremely hard time making an appointment to pick up my dress once it was finished a month later. I was travelling a great deal at the time, and had to cancel my original appointment, and requested to reschedule about two days to a week later. I was told they were backed up two weeks and there was absolutely nothing they would do to help me out. So I made an appointment for their next availability, hoping I would be able to work it out. I could not, and although I emailed and called their consultants and the owner, still absolutely nothing they would do to help me out. Third appointment, and I actually made it there (with tons of stress). The dress bodice was pretty tight and made cinch marks on my body where it was pulling so much. The owner told me she did that on purpose because it was tafetta and tafetta was going to stretch throughout the night of the wedding, so being a little tight was really going to help in the long run. Unfortunately, I took her word, and knowing what a hassle it would have been for me to make it in another time, I went home with the dress. Come the night of the wedding, my fears came true. The dress was much too tight, and had a cinched or bunched effect, and I could hardly breathe all night. I still couldn't breathe the next day because my whole torso had been squished so much. Moral of the story: tafetta does not stretch!

Hi Amanda,I am so sorry that that happen to you.... I try really hard to allow time for my brides to get into me, however sometimes we get so busy it can be hard to change times around and I am looking at a way to fix that problem this next season. As for the dress I am so sad that it was so tight. We try and double check everything here, not only do we go off the pins in the dress but we always double check it with the measurements we took at the 1st fitting. I do this to make sure that the dress can fit as close to your measurements as I can so that I do not waste your time. I try and advise our brides to get into the dress a week before the wedding for a dress check and if their dress needs any adjustment to bring it back in and I will work you in even if it means staying late. I know that for busy brides that's really hard to do but I like to leave that up to them. I am not really sure what happened. It really makes me sad to know that you were not as happy with the dress as you were here with your mom. I feel really bad. I know I can not change that day of how you felt, but I would like to say I am so sorry.Deedee

DeeDee is great! I got an appointment in a reasonable time and loved visiting her store! It is adorable and has a wonderful vibe! She and her staff were friendly and you could tell they were very busy since it was wedding season! She allowed me to get into my dress and listened to what I wanted. I had a pair of Spanx on and she even told me to remove the crazy garment because it didn't let the dress sit properly on my body! Love the woman - who tells you to ever take off Spanx? My dress needed to be shortened and she told me that I was one of the easiest alterations to my normally difficult BCBG dress! It was fast and reasonable!I'm so glad that I worked with her and she put me at ease for my big day! DeeDee and her staff are wonderful!

After purchasing my dress from a nearby Bridal Salon, I took my dress to Deedee for a consultation. I was shocked to find out that my dress was 3 sizes too big for me and was heartbroken when I put it on because it made me look HUGE. I met with several other seamstresses in the area and she was, by far, the only one who understood exactly what needed to be done. She may not be the cheapest, but you truly do get what you pay for. After my first fitting, I almost cried seeing my dress the way it was supposed to look on me. She took it in 3 inches down the entire side seam, did a hem, sewed cups in, and made a bustle. I am very pleased with how my dress fit me on my wedding day, I had a million compliments and it was because Deedee and her staff made my dress look how it was supposed to look!

Let me say, i was comferted with the friendlyness of dee dee and her staff. After a stressfull experiance with the davids bridal staff, ( who wanted to charge me $350.00 to take my dress in from a 12 to a 9.5 from the hips up ) I was extreamly impressed with her knowladge and vision for my dress. They took the stress out of it when I was charged $82.00. i would tell any bride who whos dress dosnt fit quite right to take it to the wedding seamstress!

I only had bra cups put in, my French bustle, and my hem done but the work was fantastic. I did have to go in three which they told me was lot... :) I didn't think so, I went in for an original measurements, a second time to try it one and the final time it was perfect. The quality, price and quick turn around where all fantastic.

She is all business, but she does fantastic work.Just don't expect a lot of fluff and pampering. My dress fit perfectly and was so comfortable.

I cannot even put into words how wonderful I think Deedee at The Wedding Seamstress is. I went to her with a halter top dress that I was not too thrilled with. She added cap sleeves that completely changed the dress into something I absolutely loved! She also altered 3 bridemaid dresses all at an amazing cost. Deedee is amazing at what she does. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I recently had my dress altered for my wedding and was a little nervous about who to choose for this because there were so many different companies to choose from in Colorado. I could not be more pleased that I chose the Wedding Seamstress for my dress alterations. I felt so comfortable to let them alter my dress because they were very professional, clean, honest, and amazing!! I am the type of Bride who is very picky about things especially when it comes to altering my dress. When I went in for the final fitting I could not have been more suprised as to how well everything fit!!They did an amazing job and are probably the best in Colorado!! I live on the south end of town but was willing to drive all the way to Olde Town Arvada for my dress alterations because I knew they would be the perfect company to alter my dress. They do everything in house and will make sure you are completely happy with your results or they will fix it at no charge until you are satisfied!!Thanks Wedding Seamstress & Staff!!

WowFor the record:Never got a call, the veil was not ready on time, I did tell them that I was coming in on Saturday.... Trust me, I do not exaggerate. Also, it was the seamstress that suggested placing the hook in my dress. I had lost more weight before the weddinig and it was her advice that I followed. Interesting that someone who was not there would narrate about it.......The cost of alterations was reasonable but I had several problems with this vendor.A. My veil was not ready on time. The owner told me that it would be sent to me and I could call w/my cc or send payment. This was nice since it is a 45 min drive to their shop. Weeks and weeks went by and I called to check on the status of my veil. I spoke with her husband on the phone who was not only very very rude and unprofessional but said that any arrangement that I had made with his wife was now null and void. I ended up having to make the 45 min trek up to Arvada to pick up my veil. I was offered a very weak apology and still had to pay full price!! Very unprofessional!B. My dress was still too big and wouldn't stay up at my final fitting. The seamstress put in an extra clip to make the dress tighter. The day of my wedding the clip broke and the seam ripped!!! I had to be sewn into my dress!!!All said, the price was reasonable but I think they could learn a little about how to interact w/customers. I would have rather paid more money for better quality service and attitude. The drive up to Arvada was NOT WORTH IT, not even for the chocolate bar........

In all cases I try and find where we could have done a better job in responding to our customer’s needs, however in this case I feel we were more than accommodating. For instance, this bride opted out of leaving a deposit for a veil, which was a custom made, fully beaded veil that we only charged her $70 for, and wanted us to send her the veil in the mail without paying anything for it. We had offered to send the veil, with the shipping costs completely incurred by us upon payment, however she did not want to pay for the veil until she received it. As a policy we will not send items to clients prior to payment, and Deedee was under the impression that the bride had left a deposit for the veil at the time. When we tried to contact the bride, she never called us back. The bride instead just showed up on a Saturday, which is our busiest day, interrupted other brides’ appointments and demanded our time, even though she didn’t have an appointment or let us know she was coming. This bride has a Pricilla of Boston dress in which she was able to take it home after only two trips to our studio, one to drop it off and one to pick it up. There was extensive work to be done to her wedding gown, and she saved a lot of money by using us versus using the Pricilla of Boston alteration department. She was completely happy with the tailoring at the time of the pick-up, as we ask every client if they are satisfied with the work performed, and to sign off on the contract, which she did.As far as the bride’s dress goes I think this is a lesson for all brides. This bride was told that she should not be sewn so tight into her dress, but she insisted on knowing better than the seamstress. As a matter of reason it seems only normal that stuff will start to come apart if a bride is larger than the dress, which was the case after tailoring; at the brides request. It sounds like the hook bent, which again would point to the fact that there was far too much stress put on the seams, the zipper and the hook. As a note, this dress was a strapless dress which are notorious for making brides feel that they are not tight enough even when tailored correctly. Strapless dresses are designed to sit low, and no amount of tailoring or making it super tight will ensure it to “stay up” where the bride feels it should. If you are a bride reading this, please understand that you are asking for professional advice, and if you choose to go against it, regardless if you are using us or another tailor, then you will be assuming the risk of potentially needing to be sewn into your dress on your wedding day. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY - NOT TO MENTION THEY WILL RUIN YOUR WEDDING EXPERIENCE!!!!! I also met with DeeDee (the owner) to have a corset back added to my wedding dress. She was not very polite to begin with and didn't even take my measurements on our first meeting, which should have been a red flag to start. I called to see if I could come back to try my shoes on with my dress and they said that they could have it ready a week early and it would be no problem. When I went back to pick up my dress, it was a MESS! It did not even resemble a corset. She rudely tried to convince me that she is a professional and that was what a corset looked like (although it looked NOTHING like the photos I brought). She then told me that she couldn't match the dress color so she made the entire thing out of DRESS LINING! -how cheap! and then to top it off, it didn't fit! the top of the dress was too big and she said that the corset could be tightened and it would fit, but failed to tell me that it could NOT be pulled tighter because the loops that were created were entirely too big and all of them were different sizes and didn't align. After that, she told me that the ribbon could not lay flat because of "engineering" which is the craziest thing I have ever heard. If she was such a professional, she would have seen with her "trained" eyes that I had a sloppy, non-functional corset that I could have never worn on my wedding day and should have NEVER allowed a client walk out of the door like that! The craziest part was that she finally tried to convince me that it was "our lack of communication" that caused the outcome and she got very angry with me. I thought photos of what I wanted would have been enough to communicate what I wanted my dress to look like and just assumed it would fit!!! Finally, after my phone calls, comments from other professionals, and photos of the "mess" they refunded me half of my money and then claimed that the day AFTER I picked up my dress the proper materials (not the dress lining) flew in on the jet from New York!~ haha, what a load of crap!!!! I found perfect fabric at Denver Fabric and hired a REAL seamstress!!! I would give them ZERO stars!!!! - oh and I see they are hiring interns. Sounds like DeeDee must be too busy working on her line and is having her interns do her client work - BEWARE!!!
Vendor response to review
This review of The Wedding Seamstress is unfortunate for a number of reasons. As with any issue there are two sides to the story. First, the bride came to us insisting that a corset be put into her dress even though she could fit into the dress at the time she brought it. The zipper completely zipped up and we should have insisted that there was not a reason to put a corset in, especially since she insisted that as little “opening” of the dress that was needed was what she wanted. There was never a need to take measurements for a corset since the idea of having a corset would be that it would fit a variety of sizes. When the bride called to move the appointment up two weeks the dress was waiting for fabric from one of our textile companies out of New York (we have receipts to verify our fabric connections but will not list our sources publicly). The bride’s dress was made of satin silk. Her dress was an older Amsale given to her by a friend, and we wanted to make sure we used a grade of silk similar to the dress, which usually cannot be found at Denver Fabrics as their inventory changes from week to week. When she moved the appointment up we improvised by using a lining material which matched perfectly in color. Upon her arrival the bride was unhappy, but she was unhappy and/or stressed from showing up 30 minutes late to her scheduled appointment. As she questioned the look of the corset Deedee continuously asked how we could fix it to make it more to her liking, especially since her wedding was not for another 2 ½ months. She insisted it “was fine” and seemed pleased upon leaving and signing our standard “acknowledgment of acceptance”, meaning that she was happy when she left. Had she stated that the dress was not to her liking we would have loved to have fixed it for her; 99.5% of our brides are happy with our service (we track it) and we try very hard to make that number 100%. While the corset this bride received was not to her satisfaction we never had any issue with correcting the situation. Unfortunately this bride opted to never return; only requesting via email that we refund 50% of the amount. We responded promptly by refunding the amount requested, but we still asked to be allowed the opportunity to fix the dress, at no charge of course. Finally, only because it is the last remark of the review, this bride did not have any interns work on her dress. This was purely an assumption with no grounds to be stated. While we do have interns learning the seamstress trade with us we would never have allowed an intern to work on this corset. While this bride’s experience was an anomaly, and we never had a single opportunity to fix the situation with her, we do take these things VERY seriously. The reference to a lack of communication by the bride was a misunderstanding as the lack of communication was a failure on our end, one of which will not be repeated. We are committed to high end customer service and have quickly worked to remedy any holes in communication in which we have internally. There is always opportunity to improve as a company and we believe this is one of those opportunities. Undoubtedly this bride is far and few between that has a bad experience, but it is still unacceptable to us and all future clients can rest assured that our quality and customer care exceeds that of other alteration and dress making studios in the Rocky Mountain Region.

I worked with the wedding seamstress for alterations on my wedding gown and she was amazing! I had found the absolute last available sample of my dream gown that had been discontinued and she was able to take it and turn it into a spectacular one of a kind dress. I would highly recommend the wedding seamstress to any Denver area brides.
GUEST

This place is a hidden gem! She really knows the science behind the bridal gown and does it for the right cost; affordable and well done. She took in the side seams for my bridesmaid dresses, and did the hem and bustle on my dress. My bustle did rip and fall out at the end of the night, but I blame it on the wet ground and weight it added to my dress and the delicacy of the chiffon. My one suggestion would be to air out your dress after it goes there. I think the owner prior to Deedee smoked and that smell is left a bit after the dress has been there for a while.
GUEST

I am so glad I found DeeDee. She does great work and I was completely happy with everything. The alterations she made on my dress and the bridesmaid dresses turned out great. The bustle was perfect. DeeDee also made a custom veil to match the bead work on my dress.

I brought in a dress to be reconstructed. It turned out absolutley beautiful and it only cost about $375. It was exactly what I wanted and was finished far ahead of time.

I had a family member hem my wedding dress because I was trying to be frugal. It wasn't done intentionally, but the hem was crooked, it was too short, and it was just plain horrifying. I had to act quickly because I only had less than 2 weeks before the wedding. I found The Wedding Seamstress online, called them and they had me in there the next day. They knew immediately what had to be done and how to do it. The lack of time was not a problem for them. They had my dress fixed and dry cleaned in time for my wedding. I will truly say that The Wedding Seamstress saved my dress and my special day!
GUEST

The only alterations I had done was the bustle. The bustle looked great and was easy to put up.
Dee Dee is A MA ZING. We love her and recommend her constantly.
We obviously love The Wedding Seamstress as their expertise with formal gowns surpasses any other alterations shop in town! Seriously, over 1,000 gowns a year... says "expert" to us!
Deedee and her team are simply the best! Every gown they touch is perfection on the wedding day! Why go anywhere else?
