Thuy was great. She was super flexible in scheduling my fittings, etc. Price was amazing. The quality of her work is great, and she was very attentive to even the smallest detail. The only reason I knocked off one star was because the bustle broke the second someone stepped on it...which I understand happens ALOT. But there was only one button for the bustle, and as far as I know, there are generally a few buttons/ties. If I had had more, the bustle probably would have lasted longer than the father/daughter dance. I would still go to Thuy, but would ask her to put in en extra button on the bustle, or provide you with a spare button to sew on in a pinch if needed.EDIT- Turns out the bustle didn't break (my wedding planner and bridesmaids couldn't find it after the loop snapped off). It had just come a little loose. I went back to have it fixed before my rock-the-dress shoot, and she retied and adjusted it for free. Thuy's alterations are awesome, and I will continue to use them for any alteration needs in the future.
Thuy and her group of ladies did a magnificent job on my alterations. I actually found Thuy using yelp reviews and was not disappointed in the least. I came to Thuy's in Milpitas where she works out of her home.
There were a good 20 dresses hanging all over the house in garment bags from bridal shops Trudy's, Elegant Lace Bridal etc. I didn't even need to tell her what i needed and she started pinning and tucking away.
I wanted a double french bustle but she explained how that wouldnt work with my dress and though disappointed was glad that i went with her suggestions. She was very knowledgeable about how and where to nip and tuck the dress so that you look your best. My dress is made a silk satin and I was afraid of puckering because of the material but the dress and I looked wonderful on the wedding day.
In the end I had
1) the hem taken up
2) the sides taken in (a lot since I had lost some weight),
3) Cups sewn in
4) 13 point bustle (that looked darling!)
I would recommend going to her at least 2 months before the wedding to give yourself time and to give her time to adequately alter the dress. You wont stress and neither will she. I had a total of three fittings with the final fitting about 10 days before the wedding.
As i was picking up my dress at the final fitting, a wedding party with 5 BMs and bride came in for alterations 10 days before the wedding! YIKES! DON'T DO THAT!
She and her team truly are wonderful and the dress fit perfectly!
Thuy works from home and does such a fabulous job for a very reasonable price! She altered a friend's wedding gown beautifully and added a 20 point bustle to it that looked amazing! You could tell she is very precise, honest, and helpful. I took my wedding dress and evening gown in and she gave me an excellent quote. She also took care to make sure she did the alterations the right way, rather than cut corners like other alterations places had tried to sell me. I had previously seen reviews about her on yelp, and I was skeptical because they were all so positive. I'm not skeptical anymore because my experience with her has been fabulous so far! I would highly recommend her!
