Reviews for Tidewater Chapel & Reception Hall

Tidewater Chapel is the most beautiful location for a wedding. It is a gorgeous building with an amazing courtyard. There is convenient parking for your guests. It is the best place for an intimate affair. Jill, the owner, is a fantastic person and she is very kind and helpful. The Chapel was PERFECT and we are so happy we were able to book it. Many thanks!

I had my wedding in February, and it was a smaller event (75 people including families, the wedding party, and the minister!), so I wasn't looking for a huge venue. I had always dreamed of marrying in the church my family attended when I was little, but life throws curveballs sometimes. So when I found Tidewater, I knew I could have my chapel and have a beautiful reception hall too! The chapel itself is beautiful and timeless, and compliments any color you may wish to use. The reception hall and courtyard are so very classic Charleston! It is just a lovely venue, and the price can't be beat. Any bride with a wedding under 100 guests and a smaller budget should consider Tidewater for a beautiful, intimate, perfect wedding location.

I was trying to keep my wedding costs in the realm of reality when I found Tidewater Chapel on the internet. I have lived in the area for many years, but by the time I needed a wedding venue, I was living out of the area. The Tidewater staff, in my opinion, went above and beyond to accommodate our every need! The venue was perfect for the 70 guests I had, with ample space to dance. (If you have many more than that, seating will be at the expense of the dance floor.) The chapel and courtyard were perfect for entertaining my guests with all the charm of the old south. The long, narrow banquet hall did prove to be a challenge, but we overcame that. Due to the shape of the room, I found that 48" tables worked best. We put the buffet in front of the closet doors end of the room, (beautiful backdrop,) with the head table several feet in front of that. It actually worked out very well. The DJ set-up on the stage, and we left that end of the room open for dancing. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility for a wedding, I am very glad I found it. Also, we got married May 30th, it was hot outside, but quite comfortable in the banquet hall. My advice would be not to leave the chapel doors open after the ceremony, or it may be hot for formal pictures...that can be avoided.

I was very impressed with the service I received from the Tidewater staff. Our wedding of about 95 guests fit perfectly even with tables and chairs. The courtyard was a wonderful place for my guests to mingle. I didn't have my ceremony there only because my husbands family attends a church in Charleston.

Beware, summer brides! We chose an indoor venue so that we and our guests would not have to endure the typical summer heat and humidity in Charleston. While the chapel and reception room were quite charming, the cooling system failed to do it's job. It was extremely hot, and I actually feared for some of our elderly guests and those with breathing problems. When I called after the wedding to express our disappointment, I was told that it could not be helped because it was just so hot that day! When we had gotten there at lunchtime, it felt great but by 4 pm, it began to be unbearable. We had about 100 guests, and because it was so hot, the outdoor tables had to be brought inside, which meant that the dance floor was reduced to an area too small for much dancing. Again, charming place, but if the weather is hot, it's not good for more than about 50 guests.

This is the perfect location for a smallish wedding. They let you tour the chapel and reception hall with or without one of the people who works there. So much is included in the price, which is already lower than most ceremony or reception sites in the Charleston area. The people are very helpful seem to honestly want to make your wedding special as well as helping you to avoid as much stress as possible while planning it.

I'm having my ceremony at the Tidewater Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. They gave me a GREAT deal (because I'm having my wedding in the off season, and I only need to rent the chapel dressing rooms and bathrooms and not their reception hall.)The chapel seats about 100 people, and they will provide me with an officiant if I choose not to find my own. I have scheduled access to the chapel from 10-5 on the day of the wedding. The lady who i did my paperwork and signed my contract with was very nice and understanding that i may have to cancel because my fiance is in the Navy and hasn't yet been officially granted leave for our wedding. I will definitely recommend looking at the Tidesater Chapel for others with upcoming weddings.

My husband and I wanted just a very small ceremony in a nice church or chapel at an inexpensive price. The chapel is absolutely beautiful and the staff made us feel very comfortable on our wedding day. They made our day feel like it was very special even though they have done many weddings. They were very accommodating as well. You can also have a reception there. We came from out of town and had family that live even further away which made it impossible for them to travel so far but under different circumstances I would have loved to have a reception there!
