This vendor was the one dark spot on the perfect canvas of our day. Imagine my horror as I mingled with my guests at the beginning of dinner and having half of them ask me if there was anything to drink and the other half telling me how sorry they were to hear that my beverage vendor has not shown up yet. Guests at my wedding had to run to the party store to buy beer and soda to tide us over until we could find out what happened to the beverage vendor. It turns out the man who took our order for the reception had the date wrong in his book. When we contacted him during our honeymoon to see how he intended to compensate us for his failure to perfom in accordance with our contract he actually tried to blame us! At first he said that WE should have contacted HIM to verify that he had the correct date and time of the event. When we informed him that the other six vendors we hired actually contacted US to verify the date and time and managed to show up when they promised. Then he tried to say that the date that we wrote on the contract looked like August 7, 2008 instead of August 3, 2008. My handwriting may be bad, but I know that you can tell the difference between a 7 and a 3. I had a bad feeling from the start with this vendor because when we arrived at the retail shop for our scheduled appointment the guy stood at the point of sale to talk to us while supervising the cashiers as they rang up sales. He gave us an order form to fill out and when we completed it and I asked for a copy he dismissed me with a comment about how it is just for informational purposes only. I wanted a copy because it had the date, time and location of our event with the price he had quoted for the service including the two bartenders he insisted on when we felt one would suffice. He said that when he caters an event his reputation is on the line and he would not tolerate inferior service of not enough staff to tend to all the guests. I found this very ironic when the one bartender showed up four hours late. He wanted me to leave my credit card information as a deposit and thank God I wasn't naive enough to do that. Instead I left a check for $500, which was a little more than half the original quote. Including all the beer and wine we ordered and two bartenders for 8 hours, he original quote was around 800, but when we asked him again what he was going to do to compensate for his mistake he offered us a generous discount of 50% and said that the $500.00 would cover it. When we asked him how 500 was half of 800, he said that the total bill was over $1,000.00. We asked him how the bill could be $200.00 more than the original estimate when we had one bartender for 10 hours instead of 2 for 8 hours. He had no real answer for that. It was a disaster!

We arrived for an appointment with this business to discuss our bevereage order for our wedding reception and our "meeting" took place at the point of sale at the store while customers were checking out. This is not my idea of personalized professional service. I should have followed my instincts and walked out, but I thought maybe he was short staffed and needed to be on the sales floor. We were given a questionairre to fill out about the event, which I did. Included on this form was the date and time of the event and the products we wanted delivered and served. Saad insisted on having two bartenders when we felt one would suffice stating that his name and reputation were at stake whenever he provided products and services at an event and he wouldn't have his image tarnished by bad service. At the end of the "meeting" I asked for a copy of the information we had provided him and he dismissed my request with a comment about how the form was for informational purposes only. We had discussed pricing and I wanted a copy of what we had agreed on. He wanted to use my credit card for a deposit and I refused because I didn't want my information in the hands of someone who had so far shown me very little professional courtesy. I opted to give him a check for $500.00 as a deposit, which would cover more than half of the total bill. The appointed hour for his bartenders to arrive on our wedding day came and went and there was no sign of them. As we sat down to eat and I mingled among my guests I was embarrassed to find half of them asking me if there was anything to drink and the other half telling me how sorry they were to hear that my beverage vendor had failed to show! Guests at my wedding had to leave and go to a local party store to buy beer and soft drinks to serve until the best man could get the vendor to show up four hours late!!! The quality of the wine and beer we ordered was wonderful, but the fact that we had to call and remind the vendor that they were supposed to be there was the one glitch in an otherwise flawless day. When we asked Saad how he intended to correct the situation, he first blamed US for not calling him to confirm the date and time of the event. Of the six vendors we hired, five of them contacted us to confirm the date and time and they managed to arrive on time. When confronted with that fact, he tried blaming US again by saying that the date we wrote on the form looked like August 7, 2008 instead of August 3, 2008. Finally he did apologize and offer to give us a discount. My husband told him that we thought $400.00 would be a fair price for the fiasco and he claimed that would not even cover his cost of product. Our original quote from him was around $800.00 with two bartenders for 10 hours and we ended up with one bartender for seven hours. I should have stopped payment on the check I wrote him because he ran to the bank to cash it and expected us to be thankful for his generous 50% discount that he claims he gave us, but I was on my honeymoon at the time. We decided the money wasn't worth fighting over, but we did promise Saad that we would tell anyone who cared to listen how horrible his service was.
