Top Ten Sounds
They didn't play the songs we requested (besides first dance, etc) prior to the event. He did a good job in terms oh MCing.
Sadly, I cannot give a fantastic review to Top Ten Sounds. I can't speak for the entire company itself since we only worked with one of their DJ's, but I was very disappointed in our experience with him.
From the beginning of our communication with this company, there were a few little things here and there that gave me the feeling that we might not be compatible. However, being on a budget and due to time constraints we pressed on with the plan to use Top Ten Sounds. We had heard good reviews about them & figured not too much could go wrong with a DJ.
We had pretty specific ideas about what type of music (and specific songs) we wanted on our day, and spent hours going through the list provided by Top Ten Sounds, checking off songs they suggested that meshed with our own taste. However, we are not into the "cheesy wedding music" style, and provided a list of songs that were not on their list as well.
A few days before the wedding (the most hectic time for a bride & groom!), we received a call from the DJ asking for CD's with some of the songs we wanted to have played because "his computer had a virus" and he was not able to get them himself. While my husband was ok with doing this for him, I felt that it was very unprofessional and bold of him to ask us -- paying clients -- to do his work. At this point, we had too many things to worry about and wrote off this incident.
The day of the wedding, our photographer (who was fantastic) came to me during our reception to tell me that she had an altercation with the DJ who would not take down the big, purple banner (advertising the company) on the DJ stand when she asked him if he could remove it so it wouldn't be in the background of all of our reception pictures. He also played a lot of songs during the night that we did not "approve". At one point, my husband went over to him and asked him to play a certain genre of music to get the crowd going, to which he very hastily replied that he was "playing what we asked for".
To top it all off, he closed down promptly at the 4 hour mark even though we (THE BRIDE & GROOM) were NOT IN THE ROOM!!! We had gone outside for a moment to take some final end of the night pictures, and returned to a half-emtpy room with no music. Not exactly what I hoped for as the final moments of our wedding day.
All in all, I feel that maybe we just chose a DJ that wasn't compatible with us. I'm sure other couples would have a good experience with this company if they don't have very specific requests, but I do recommend "interviewing" your DJ to make sure that you don't end up with an experience like ours.
Excellent, highly recommend.
