What can I say, my cake turned out beautiful and tasted awesome! The easiest part of dealing with them as a bride was they didn't really jump to tell me no like other bakeries did. I wanted a custom Tiffany & Co. style cake and they made ordering easy and painless. I also ordered 4 dz cheesecake pastries that were amazing! Thank you!

GREAT CAKE! My husband and I didn't actually eat any cake beyond the morsel we fed each other at the cake cutting. The next day we dug into a leftover piece, and it was still amazing! Hard to imagine it could have tasted any better the day before! Also, I appreciated how the bakery let me provide my own ribbon.

Our catering package through our hotel included a wedding cake from Torrance Bakery. We scheduled a cake consultation at their downtown Torrance location. They have a large wedding cake showroom with sample cakes and design pictures. We were able to taste their cake flavors and a few fillings. The sales person who worked with us was nice and was able to answer a lot of our questions. We had a specific design in mind and provided a color photo to the sales person. She consulted with the baker and determined that our catering package would not cover the design and we would be charged an additional $50. I was ok with the additional fee and paid it. The sales person said that the design would be as close as possible to the picture but may not be exact, which I totally understand. However, when the wedding cake arrived at the hotel, it looked nothing like the picture except for the fact that the swirls were black. We wanted small swirls in black and they included large swirls. The design was not as intricate as what we wanted. I don't think that their design warranted the extra $50 because they had designs in their book that were similar and they weren't going to charge us the additional $50. I am considering contacting them and requesting a refund of my $50.

The cake tasted fine and looked very nice, even though it did not match our design request. The reason I am marking them down to 3 stars for quality of service is that they charged me an additional $50 and they did not follow the design request I...

Our wedding cake looked great, exactly how I wanted it. We chose from the basic flavors that you don't have to pay extra for. They were fine. Not great, but ok. Cake was delivered to the venue on time, no problems.

Not only did we get our wedding cake from them but we also got Cupcakes that served as Favors/Centerpieces. They were a HIT!

Torrance Bakery was contracted through our venue (La Venta Inn), so it was highly encouraged to use them at what we believe was a marked up price (or pay a large cake cutting fee if we brought in another dessert -even cupcakes). That said, we were SO happy with our experience with them and fortunately, they make phenomenal cake.
The tasting process was very fun, my husband said it was his favorite part of wedding planning! They made samples of several options and allowed us to mix and match icings, fillings and cake flavors. They were patient with our indecisiveness and offered great advice. I brought in a photo of a cake I'd seen on Pinterest and my color swatch and they matched it almost exactly.
The cake tasted so good that we ended up serving the top tier that we'd planned to save, our guests LOVED the two options and devoured it all! We'll be back next year to buy a fresh anniversary cake instead!

Ordered the cake well in advance and went over in detail what we were looking for. There were supposed to be posts in between the two layers to make it easier to seperate. They were not there. To me the cake did not look like the cost (my most expensive purchase). The lettering looked like a first grader did it. The cake itself was good though. Just not what I expected for the money.

Their cakes are delicious! Torrance Bakery was almost an hour away from my reception venue, but it was well worth the extra money to have them deliver to my reception site. Their cakes really stood out among the 5 or 6 bakeries that we visited. I highly recommend their red velvet and chocolate with French cream. Service-wise, I felt that Indrea was very warm and helpful but that some of the other girls at the front were somewhat inexperienced and indifferent.

My husband and I got married on 9/9/12 and couldn't be happier with our wedding cake from Torrance Bakery! Not only were the cakes delicious but they are affordable and the staff was super accommodating. I liked a design that I found online and even though it wasn't their design, Torrance Bakery created something similar for me and it looked amazing. The staff was friendly, helpful and was very prompt with the delivery of the cake. All of our guests were raving about how great it tasted too! We would definitely recommend Torrance Bakery to anyone getting married in the area.

Our cake was AMAZING!!!! Especially the banana and the red velvet flavors. We were truly impressed. The cake was soft...the way we like it...very FRESH!!! The bakery did a wonderful job with the design and were very flexible, as we brought an item that we wanted on our cake. The incorporated it beautifully. Thank you so much.

Torrance Bakery did the cake for our August 2012 wedding. It turned out perfect! Our wedding had a rustic ocean theme and we asked for a cake with kelp cascading up the side. The art turned out perfect, as well as the colors we requested. We had a 3 tier cake with the bottom tier as white cake with strawberries and whipped cream, and the top 2 tiers as their chocolate cake and fudge filling. It was all very tasty, very moist, and just plain delicious! Thank you Torrance Bakery for a job well done!

I loved my cake design and thought it was beautiful. I did have to pay extra (although my cake was included in the package my wedding venue offered) I was charged extra for gum paste flowers and strawberry and whipped cream filling.

When my cake arrived, my mother noticed there was a section that had been nicked/smudged. She called Torrance Bakery and they initially told her to fix it herself, with a butter knife. My mother is not a baker, and it was not her job to correct the damage they caused in transit. After about 30 minutes of arguing on the phone and speaking with several different people, someone finally came down to fix the cake.

I would recommend them to a friend, if most of the cost is included in a package deal, but otherwise I would suggest finding someone else who doesn't damage cakes in transit or have a problem with coming out to repair said damage.

Torrance Bakery made a delicious cake for our wedding! The tasting was a lot of fun and they gave us many options to choose from. The cake was delivered on time, and we got tons of compliments on the flavors we chose. I can't wait to enjoy another piece of it on our one year anniversary. I'm happy to recommend Torrance Bakery!

Best cake ever!! So delicious! So beautiful!!

The cake was beautiful and some of the most delicious cake I have tasted. We actually had 3 parties throughout the country, and this cake was by far the best of the 3. It wasn't just me who thought so either - this was the only place where we had no cake left over to take home!!

We used Torrance Bakery for our wedding cake as a package through our venue. We went to their actual location to do the cake tasting, and we worked with Maritza there, who was able to answer any questions we had and to make any style recommendations. The day of the wedding, the cake was beautiful (almost felt bad eating it), but it was even more delicious. I actually wish I could eat a piece right now. We will be using Torrance Bakery for all of our custom cake needs in the future!

The cake was delicious - It was a simple white cake, but we requested mini white chocolate chips to be added to the buttercream filling. They accomodated our request and it turned out so great! everyone loved it, and I think i ate 3 pieces! They are also very reasonable in terms of cost for both the cake and the delivery. This is the place to go for a cake!

To say our wedding cake was delicious and beautiful is an understatement. It completely exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Torrance bakery. It is very affordable, and the cake flavors are SO GOOD! their fondant and piping work is wonderful too!

It was pretty good, but really just a standard wedding cake!

I'm not usually big on vanilla/white cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, but this is what my husband likes. This cake was EXCELLENT! So fresh, so yummy, just sweet enough, just flavorful enough!!! So many compliments. People ate this cake up! We had a small wedding, so had a 2 tier round cake, very classic, decorated in white, and so detailed and beautiful. Delivery charge resonable. Very professional and friendly staff! Didn't try to sell me on fondant. Cake price very resonable! Figure about $4 per slice plus delivery. I totally recommend them!!! Also, we had some cake left over, and it stayed very fresh in the freezer for over a month (we weren't going to save any for a year later).

Everyone in the area knows that Torrance Bakery has the best-tasting cakes around. They feel like a Mom & Pop bakery, but they are famous around here for being the absolute best!

Britnee was SO fun to work with on our cake planning and tasting. The cake won't just look pretty, it will actually taste like the flavors you choose, and a lot of venues just include their service in the package price.

Since everything is homemade, you can tell them to put extra coffee in the mocha filling, or tell them to make your frosting extra aqua-colored to match your tablecloths... they are just perfect in every...

I chose the marble cake with fudge filling and butter cream frosting....YUM!

We were sent to Torrance Bakery through FantaSea Yachts and I figured it was gonna be an average place, nothing special. BOY WAS I WRONG! The appointment went fast, 30 minutes tops and the staff was very efficent and explained the cans and cant do's very well. I figured the cake was just gonna be a boring cake like most wedding cakes and when I sampeled the flavors I just about had a yummy mouth meltdown! The cake was probably the best cake I have ever tasted in my life! We had a three tier cake, all cream cheese, carrot cake with pinneaple filling, red velvet with chocolate fudge and banana with vanilla custard! YUMMMMMMMY! Im not lying when I didnt finish all my samples I took them home like a little piglet cuz they were THAT freakin good! The finished product was gorgeous, looked exactly like I wanted it to and tasted exactly like the samples! TOP NOTCH! I cant wait to visit their sandwhich shop soon to eat another slice of cake that they serve in the shop! And of all the things our guests said, they said the CAKE was supurb! After everyone had eaten I asked the wait staff if theres was any left to take home and nope! everyone had two slices of cake! Not a scrap was wasted! Thats a first in my wedding history! Goes to show how good they are!

We got just a cake top for our wedding because we did other dessert items. However, the ladies in the wedding cake dept. were very helpful and open to different ideas. The design we did looked just like the wedding dress. The cake was so yummy. Torrance Bakery is awesome.

I bought my wedding cake from this shop. Since my husband is an artist we had a custom made cake that he designed. This bakery really helped us and really brainstormed with us to get the most for our budget. The cake was beautiful and we got a lot of compliments but there were quite a few lines that were not strait and we could tell that it was from a shaky hand. Overall, I liked my cake but I wish it was a little bit better. I really dont want to say anything bad because I know that our cake had a lot of detail and probably was hard. The place is really busy and you have to make an appointment way in advanced. People walk in constantly and the staff is not immediately friendly you have to sit down and talk to them to get to be friendly. It would be nice if they greeted you with a smile and said "how can I help you" instead of "Do you have an appointment?" Overall, they were the best for me with my budget, they were really helpful, and the owner is really nice.

Our cake was flawless and SO delicious! Unlike other bakeries that charge you an arm and a leg for fillings, the charge to "upgrade" for cream fillings is extremely reasonable- and is per tier not per slice. When we went to sample, the cake was very good but I have to say it tasted so much fresher and better on the day of the actual wedding. We received so many compliments on how good the cake was. Can't wait to see how the top tier is after freezing! This is seriously the best place for the best price in LA- I looked everywhere and this is the best!

Torrance Bakery worked with us to get a great cake on a budget. The flavors where delicious, and you have a good variety to choose from. At the tasting you only get a few of the many possible options, but if you request a certain flavor and they have some in the back they will get some for you to taste. Since we had a smaller budget we did a lovely three-tiered cake and then had sheets cakes made of the same flavors- no one even knew the difference and it saved us alot of money!

The wedding cake was a part of our package through our vendor, however, since we upgraded to have real strawberries as a part of one of our fillings and special frosting it cost a little bit more. The tasting of our cake did not do the actual cake we had at the wedding justice. The samples tasted stale but thank goodness they were AMAZING. I know you must think we are crazy for moving forward with a cake that tasted stale but I saw previous reviews and crossed my fingers that it was just the samples. They only thing I was extremely frustrated about is how they accepted payment for the wedding cake. We live about two hours away from Torrance Bakery and when we called to pay our final bill they said that they would not accept credit card over the phone and we could only mail CASH! ummmm... Mail cash huh? What happens if the money gets lost or stolen in the mail...? They wouldn't accept a personal check or money order via mail. They said I had to come to their location and pay the remaining balance if I did not want to send cash. WOW! This was the type of stress I did not expect right before our wedding. I asked to speak to a manager and explained the situation. After conversing for 15 minutes or so she finally agreed to allow me to scan my credit card and ID (in color only) and email it to them. This was obviously an inconvenience but so much better than driving in traffic for a few hours just to pay an $185.00 balance. All in all, everything else was great but I wanted to let future brides know in advance what to expect... if you live far (pay the bill in full when you are physically there). It is not something you need to stress about a few weeks before the wedding; you have enough to worry about!

Extremely pleased with quality of cake. Cake tasting experience was great and helped me narrow down my cake design and flavor. Aside from my wedding cake i also ordered a groom's cake it was awesome! I gave them a sketch of what I wanted and it turned out great!!!

Overall, I was pleased with the experience that I had with Torrance Bakery. I appreciated that I was able to choose the wedding cake that I wanted, to the very last detail. The quality of cake is outstanding and my guests loved it.

Due to our budget we got a three-tiered cake, and a large sheet made of the same favors and colors. This saved us a lot of money! The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Our wedding cake was good. It was a pretty basic design. We went with this vendor because it was recommended by our venue. The only thing that wasn't great was their level of customer service. Sometimes a little for friendliness can go a long way.

Our cake came looking like it was thrown together last minute- very sloppy looking.
Very sad. Our experience with them was relatively quick up until that point so I cannot comment on their service- but the end result was very disappointing.

We had ordered and paid extra for a specific type of cake and this was not fulfilled. It was embarrassing that my wedding guests complained that the cake was not as described. Please think again before hiring torrance bakery.

They had lots of great flavor options, designed beautiful cakes, and did a great job. They also taste much better than their nearby competitor Rossmoor Pastries.

Torrance Bakery was really great to work with, we enjoyed our cake tasting and design choices so much! Our cake came out gorgeous! Just as we requested and we received so many compliments on it. Also their cake is just out of this world! I always just felt like wedding cake was all the same but one day at a bridal expo I sampled Torrance Bakery for the first time and from that moment on knew we were working with them! Delicious!!!!

Had a wonderful experience with them! You can tell that they've been in the business of wedding cakes for a long time now just from their service.

The cake is DELICIOUS, BUT (big "but"...read on) We do have a rather large complaint...the cake looked VERY LITTLE like the cake we chose. Our planned cake had many tiny dainty sugar flowers, tons of them, and no wire showing. However, there is a completely different image on their website that matches the cake we actually received. Looking back, after the pure glee of the big day, in hindsight we felt a bit tricked, but it didn't ruin the big day because, after all, it's just cake, it still looked nice, and it was yummy as could be. We got two layers of Chocolate cake with raspberry filling and a layer of marble cake with fudge filling, and everybody loved it, and nobody complained about the appearance. I'm just a perfectionist, and the design they went with required less craftsmanship, and they certainly could have told me about the actual design I was getting instead of getting my expectations up and charging us for the nicer one. If you do the tasting, look up the special flavors and tell them what you want to taste beforehand--we would have like dto have tried the kahlua and ganache flavors instead of being limite dto the basics, but they didn't even give us the option. It was there on time, and I didn't have any problems with scheduling. Also, we order a single cake for our anniversary this year (instead of eating freezerburn-rotten-gross cake, and it was magnificent, beautiful, and delicious.

We ordered our wedding cake from Torrance Bakery, and not only was it affordable but everybody loved it. We had a three layer cake, banana, chocolate mousse, and custard :) We ended up finishing all of it, even the top layer :)

We used Torrance Bakery for our wedding reception in January. We went back and forth a few times to nail down the details of our cake. We chose Torrance Bakery because it was part of the package where we had the reception (Chart House). They charged a lot for simple things we wanted on the cake, but in the end, they were able to make the cake that we wanted and it was one tasty cake! The banana cake with banana creme filling and red velvet with creme cheese filling were favorites. I'd recommend Torrance Bakery to anyone.

We worked with a young gal named Katy who was really sweet and helpful with answering our questions. We chose Torrance because of the quality of their cakes. Their cakes tasted the best, was the most freshest, and had the best combination of flavors.

On our wedding day the cake was beautifully decorated and arrived on time for the florist to decorated. Everyone loved the flavors we chose and asked for seconds. Fortunately there was a lot left over (we had a gelato bar that took away from the cake's attention), so we froze some and will eat them periodically throughout the months to come. I would highly recommend them!

Torrance Bakery wedding cakes are the bomb! I'm not a big fan of cake, but theirs is moist and very flavorful. My cake tasting appt. was phenomenal as they were generous in giving me all the choices I asked for which was over the limit. My cake was beautiful, elegant and delicious!

I LOVE TORRANCE BAKERY. I use Torrance Bakery for all of my children's birthday and finally had a chance to use them for my wedding day. I had a four tier cake and it was very moist and very good. I received many compliments of the taste of the cake. I am a forever cutomer to Torrance Bakery.

A much better choice for Wedding Cakes in the South Bay is Picaboo Cakes by Randi Madden. You can find her on Facebook. She is flexible, helpful, her cakes taste fantastic and she will customize your cake to what ever you want!

The cake was delicious. We had timely delivery of the cake- no problems

We chose this bakery out of three that the venue offered. Our venue had an event where each bakery was present with samples at their tasting. Torrance Bakery had the best tasting cake and filling so we decided to go with them.

When we arrived they brought out there most popular flavors. Their cakes were delicious and so were there fillings. We wanted to try some other fillings they had to offer so they went right on over to make them for us. We had a hard time choosing which flavors we liked the best but ended up doing marble with chocolate mousse, chocolate with raspberry mousse and vanilla with chocolate mint mousse. I had brought in a picture of the design I wanted on my cake and they said they could do it. So I let them keep the picture to do it. Everyone there was friendly and very helpful. I even changed my mind about a part of the design so I called them up and they took care of it over the phone.

At our wedding the cake looked exactly the way I had hoped and was just as delicious as the day we had went for the tasting. I have no regrets about choosing them and would highly recommend them!

Torrance Bakery is one of the best bakery in our local area. The wedding cake we ordered from them was absolutely delicious. Our guest really enjoyed the tasty cake. They were very professional and very friendly. We highly recommend them.

We went in about 4 months before the wedding to pick out our wedding cake. They were on time and waiting for us at our appointment time. The staff was very helpful and organized and they even called to remind us that our final payment was due along with the cake toppers which was great because it had completely slipped my mind! The cake was delivered on time and tasted great :) Red velvet with cream cheese icing. Yum!

I love cake, and so when I tried my soon to be sister in law's wedding cake (I asked a waiter to serve me some because it looked amazing, and she wasn't serving it as she went to Duke's and served their hula pie instead - I know she is crazy, who chooses ice cream cake instead of cake cake?!) and I knew I had to have this cake for my own wedding! The cake is so moist and the frosting is yumm-y! When I went to try samples, I was given a wide variety - chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, carrot, lemon, marbled, and more - with lots of options for frosting and fillings - there was even a pineapple frosting. I was a little disappointed with taste of the chocolate cake and the red velvet, but I was never going to serve those flavors anyway. Ultimately I went with multiple layer options: marbled with fudge frosting, and yellow cake - shortcake hybrid with fresh cream and strawberries (this - yellow/shortcake - was by far my favorite). I changed my design twice, and it was never a problem. By the way, their turkey sandwiches and cupcakes are also phenomenal, my fiance practically cried with happiness when I brought him one of their cupcakes.

The wedding cake from Torrance bakery is really good. All of our guest said that the cake was very tasty and that they absolutely enjoyed it. The staff here are very professional and friendly.

The cake we got for our wedding at Torrance Bakery was one of the most delicious cake I have ever tasted. Everybody that attended our wedding loved the cake. The service was also very good too. Highly recommended!

When I initially tasted their cake at a tasting, I thought it was whatevers, but since my venue had a contract with them, I just chose the best flavors out of the bunch, upgraded to french cream and hoped for the best. Well, I have to say that the cake tasted 100X better on the day of the wedding! Some guests even commented on how good the cake was!

Both my engagment party cake and wedding cake were beautiful. The decorations were simple and elegant and the cake was very tasty. I highly recommend Torrance bakery to everyone.

Our reception site had two bakeries that they work with (included in their package) and one of them was Torrance Bakery. The cakes were way better than the other bakery in Rolling Hills the only thing is that they were not as responsive when we were making the final touches to our cake. Make sure you do the cake tasting before choosing your flavor and do not be afraid to order other flavors than the regular white cake. We choose their very popular Banana Cake and our guests loved it. You can also do two different flavors on each layer for your guests to have choices. Also get your cake advisor's advice and see what cake decoration will look best with your theme. Good luck!!!

Torrance Bakery has a great reputation in the South Bay area. When I went to try different cake flavors I enjoyed the flavors but was not surprised. The cake tasted just a little better than a regular store bought. I expected something really great and amazing with their reputation but their wedding white cake is just like any other cake. The cost was high as well and I wanted to add more to the cake but simply didn't want to spend that much desert.
I enjoyed the choices and display room and I was able to make a design that I wanted on my cake.
I loved the opportunity to have three different flavors in my cake for no extra cost.
I would recommend it but not to everyone. Please try the flavors first and then see what you like.

Yum! However the fondant was a bit thick and they put the green on the fondant roses, which I asked to have removed.

WOW!!!!! Keith is so awesome. My fiance and I were not sure what style or flavor to get our wedding cake in. Upon our first meeting Keith layed out his main flavors but ensured us that he was open to any suggestions. Our guests ranted and raved about the delicious cake and I even have a relative who called the next day to get keith's number because she was going to drop the baker she chose and go with one of Keith's delicious cakes. :)

I did not end up getting my cake from Torrance bakery, not because the cake did not taste good but because they wanted to charge me over a thousand dollars for a design that another bakery was willing to do for free, so no brainer, I went with the other bakery.

But the cake there is so good and they actually take their time to customize the flavors with fillings for you. My absolute favorite was the butterchip. It has got to be the best thing ever. I was sad not to have it at my wedding but I thought it was pretty expensive to charge me over a thousand for a simple design that another bakery was going to do for free.

The staff was very professional and friendly. They were helpful and answered all of my questions. They had a lot of different displays to compare and tons of pictures to look at for wedding cakes. The samples were the most popular flavor combos and delicious. The cake was moist and thick and the fillings were fresh and tasty. We had a simple wedding cake but still very unique for our price range.

Very easy to work with. They allow a cake tasting (which was fun). The cakes are delicious and very beautiful. I'm trying to find an excuse to use them again...perhaps a birthday party or graduation. Their customer service skills are very good as well. Overall, this place was outstanding and I highly recommend.

Cake was great! We ordered the smallest 3 tier from torrance bakery and provided a sheet cake to save costs. The cake was beautiful and tasted great!!! Delivery was about an hour later than quoted... I didn't care, but I guess my poor florist was waiting around to decorate with flowers. We were very happy with the service when we did our tasting. I would recommend for a beautiful and affordable cake!!

Torrance Bakery was great, the cake arrived on time and not a single bite was left. They also do cake tasting which was yummy and fun. The design of our cake went with our theme and we got lots of compliments, I was pleased with their service.

I can still taste our wedding cake it was so delicious! My husband chose the cake flavors: fresh strawberry, banana, spice and marble. The frosting was buttercream ... hmmmmmmm good!

My Wedding Cake was really great I would recommend them for any event as this is the only place I ever get cakes from. The only downfall was that my cake was supposed to arrive between 2:30-3:30pm, my wedding did not get there until 4:30pm the time my wedding was supposed to start. My wedding cake decorator was inconvienced and I could not start wedding until cake came. But the manager did give me a good credit for a cake when I please.

We chose the Torrance Bakery after visiting 3 bakeries in the area. It came highly recommended by our reception venue, the Queen Mary. Their portfolio of cakes did have variations of the one we were looking for. We did most of the ordering long distance. There was some discrepancy in our initial order. (They forgot that we wanted a square cake after our consultation, and adding that feature added some cost.) And when it came to paying the balance for the cake, I find out that day, that I'm not allowed to make the payment over the phone. (This is not in the contract). And that I had to make the payment in cash right when I arrive to Cali. We had orginially planned on paying for the cake with a credit card, so this set our budget off a bit.

OTHER THAN THAT--- Let me tell you, my expectations were met and exceeded with this cake! It was absolutely beautiful and better than I had ever imagined! And I got soooo many compliments about how tasty it was! I loved it. I would definitely recommend booking through Torrance Bakery!

We just had our tasting with Torrance Bakery and it was great! Melissa was very helpful, patient and friendly during the consultation; she answered all of our questions with ease.

We really liked the white cake with fresh strawberry/french white cream and the marble cake with fudge filling. Melissa even gave us extra samples to take home once my fiance pointed out that I'd annihilated the fresh strawberry sample they gave us. My parents also really liked the white cake with lemon filling. Their price quote was extremely reasonable for a custom three-tier cake for 100 people - even my dad looked pleased.

They're definitely in the running! Three more cake appointments to go!

During our search for the perfect wedding cake, my husband and I visited Torrance Bakery and were so turned off by the experience. We really wanted to find something that we liked because it was part of the hotel package and we were working on a tight budget. So, we though it would make sense economically to go with them. The flavors were good, especially some of the fruit fillings, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to order one of their traditional, uninspired cake designs.

Upon our arrival, one look around the showroom told me this was not going to be good. The walls were lined with faux cakes, incredibly over-decorated and not even well displayed (some of the tiers were crooked, etc). Then they handed us a binder and might as well have said, 'This is what we make. Pick a design'. Any of the designs with an asterisk were an additional charge not covered by our hotel package, which included any fondant. So, we showed them some of our own examples of what we liked that we had brought along. The salesperson agreed to get pricing for us, but it was over a hundred dollars just to add a bit of simple fondant trim to a buttercream cake.

That was the point where we walked out and they lost our business. They are clearly not interested in creating anything personalized. There are so many great, smaller bakeries in Los Angeles/OC that will make something just for you at a great price. Why waste your time at a place that couldn't care less unless you're willing to shell out some major cash?

Torrance Bakery has a great selection of cake designs to choose from. Since our cake was included as part of the contract with our hotel, it was really easy and only took one 30 min visit.

The cake has a nice crumb and density. They obviously use cake flour and for wedding cakes I think that is almost a must. It isn't overly (fake) vanilla flavored as some can be and the crust is a good thickness given what they use to cover the cakes with.

The standard frosting has an okay texture and fat level. It wasn't pure shortening like I expected, but it also obviously was not pure butter. The staff couldn't tell me what type of buttercream it was; they just called it Torrance buttercream. It isn't as light as a Swiss or Italian buttercream, but also not as grainy or dense as an American buttercream. It's more on the dense side but lightened up a bit with some protein probably. You can order the French buttercream for an extra charge, but we didn't think it was that much better to be worth the charge.

Side Note: Since I'm a cake person, my expectations from a bakery are high, so I'm probably being more stringent on this vendor than others.

I am taking off one star because on the wedding day the cake turned out to be much sweeter than we remembered from the tasting. We liked the sweetness level during the tasting but on the day of it was almost cloying and that is unacceptable from a bakery of this calibre.

I am taking off another second star because we ordered a brown ribbon for the cake and they used black instead. It was really only a difference that the groom and I noticed but we felt like it took away from the cake that we had envisioned. I doubled checked the ribbon color because I knew that when ribbon gets greasy it darkens and brown can easily turn to black, but I took a look at the ribbon after it had been taken off under light and there was no way that was brown ribbon.

Torrance Bakery provided our 3 tier wedding cake for our April 18th wedding. The price of the cake was included in our wedding package at the Portifino Hotel and Yacht Club. The cake was fabulous inside and out. We had the marble filling on one layer and the lemon filling in the two other layers. I received many complients on the taste and the look of the cake. I love Torrance Bakery and I plan to have them make a mini lemon filled cake for our one year anniversay since i seriously doubt I would want to eat a year old frozen cake. Torrance Bakery did a great job with our cake, the flavors were excellent. Their service is good too. We were called a few days prior to the wedding that they didn't have a silver base available but they were very apologetic and offered a different base. However, when our wedding day came, we got our round silver base and it looked GREAT!!! The only thing that they dont do and it was a bummer, is add fresh flowers to the cake, you have to do this on your own. Other than that, they were very helpful!!!

I am so happy that my husband and I chose Torrance Bakery for our wedding cake. I can't believe how expensive some other bakeries are, and this place is affordable and makes beautiful, delicious cakes.

It was fun to make the appointment where we got to choose flavors (you do that ahead of time and get to pick lots of combinations to try). Day of appointment - we ate many different samples, and the bakery employee was patient in answering all of our questions. She even got us one sample that we hadn't pre-ordered. We ended up with a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and white frosting (and now I can't remember if frosting had other "flavor" but it was white color and fabulous!). We did a three layer cake with an extra quarter-sheet on the side (to be sure to have enough cake and still keep in budget). We also paid extra for some "gumpaste" flowers - these were designed to look like lavender orchids, our wedding flower. The bakery placed these on the cake and the result was fantastic. The cake had an elegant yet simple design - "Swiss dots" and "vines" (all white).

OH AND IF YOU ASK (I did this over email because I was arranging long distance), they will tell you what "most popular cake combinations" are ahead of time - I tried one or two of these but created the others myself for the sample tastings.

I loved our cake! Our experience was great. We showed got to sample so many types of cakes and frostings, it was fantastic. They have more choices at this shop than many of the others. I'm confident they can make any type of cake. My friends have even used them for personal birthday cakes since they can print edible photos onto your cake.

Our hotel has a contract with Torrance Bakery for any wedding. They made our cake and did a wonderful job copying the picture we took in. Melissa was extrememly helpful and patient answering all our questions and giving us multiple tastings! We couldn't decide on buttercream icing or fondant so she actually had a couple samples make with fondant icing so we could get a better idea of the taste. Fondant was not covered by the hotel contract but it was OK because we ended up loving our cake! Our flavors were red velvet/cream cheese, white cake with fresh strawberries, and chocolate cake with fudge filling. Everyone thought it was delicious! :)

So, my reception site actually pays for the cake itself through one of two vendors that we got to choose. I chose a higher end cake and only had to pay about $100 of my own money which isn't bad at all considering I was already preparing for that expense before finding out my reception site would take care of it. So, we gave the bakery a picture during our tasting (and the tasting was delicious). They hit the mark right on! The cake looked perfect and was probably the easiest thing about the whole wedding planning. We had our initial meeting, I called two weeks before to verify the count, and the cake was there with no problem. It was absolutely delicious as I actually ate some of it. And of course we saved the top. They were very professional and very tasty!! I definitely recommend Torrance Bakery. And in this economy I'm sure some people are worried if their vendor will even be in business by the time their day arrives and I assure you they will. They have been in business for a very long time and are just that good!

Torrance bakery was one of three bakeries that were included in our wedding package. After tasting cupcakes from each place, we agreed that Torrance Bakery was a huge step above the others in terms of taste and quality. We couldn't wait to have our cake tasting session and they didn't disappoint. We settled on 4 tier cake, where two tiers were vanilla cake and two were chocolate with chocolate mint filling, all with buttercream frosting. It was delicious! We know we were supposed to freeze the top layer of cake for our anniversary, but we ate it all the next night- it was too good to wait!

I had read great reviews about Torrance bakery so was excited to go for a tasting. Upon arriving at the showroom, I was slightly turned off by the dusty cake models on display and the rec-room feeling of the folding tables laid out in the room. The sales person was very pleasant though, and let us start the appointment 15 min. earlier than scheduled. She brought out the cakes, which were each in individually labeled cups (which is so helpful because it's impossible to remember so many flavor and filling combinations!). We were not impressed by the flavor of the cakes, however, as they were nothing special and tasted like cakes you could make from a mix. Also, in looking through the albums of cake pics, we noticed that the craftsmanship of the cakes they created seemed sub-par, and we could see uneven lines and unbalanced symmetry. This might be acceptable for those on a budget, but even the price they quoted us for a basic cake was around the same price as other bakeries who had better tasting and more beautiful cakes.

Torrance Bakery did a great job with our cake. We had a different flavor for each layer and a simple design that our florist just added fresh flowers to and it was gorgeous. The guests loved the cake and so did we.Highly recommend for cakes and pastries.

Ive had two experiences with Torrance Bakery, the first (my sisters wedding) was decent and the second (my wedding) was horrible. The cake itself was pretty but they made it the wrong color. The cake didn't match my colors at all. Thank goodness the florist covered it with flowers. I ordered an ivory cake and the cake came out an ugly dark yellow color. Literally the color of the yellow stars on this site. The manager of the bakery was not helpful at all when I called after the wedding. Over all I wish I had gone with another bakery.

They have a big showroom with lots of wedding cakes and seem pretty professional in the wedding cake business. The cake tastes great. However, for almost for every little thing you wanna add to the cake, or if you want to customize it a little (just a little, not mentioning bring your own cake picture), they charge A LOT OF money. I ended up spending almost $700 on a 4-tier cake that didn't really look that great. And another thing I don't like about them is that most of the time when I call, no one picks up the phone. And once they even messed up my appointment after I called three times within the two months before the appointment to confirm. They told me that I never called them to make the appointment (which I am SURE I did, three times!!!), but they squeezed me in eventually.
Overall, Torrance Bakery is one of the disappointing vendors throughout my wedding planning. Nothing seriously went wrong, but nothing great either.

Our cake came included in the price of our reception, so we didn't exactly choose Torrance Bakery, but it was a great choice! We were very happy with our cake, and it tasted great. We paid extra for fondant, and it looked perfect. The cake was delivered on-time, in perfect condition. Overall, a good experience :)

This bakery has the best tasting cakes in Southern California! I would use them again. I have one qualm about the cake topper which was not quite what I ordered but it worked!

Great cake, delicious and fed all of our guests. Only complaint my wife had was a color of one of the frostings and how it didnt match flowers, but i think it matched find and looked great. Recommended.

Torrance Bakery works with our Reception Venue, The Blue Water Grill. The bakery allowed us to taste test several varieties of cake, fillings, and frostings. That was one of the best days of the planning. Our consultant worked with us to design a beautiful cake with real sea shells. We had three layers, two were white cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream filling, the middle tier was chocolate cake with raspberry mouse filling. The cake was delicious and fresh. I just wish I could have had more. The only problems I had was that I tried to contact the bakery twice to confirm everything, they didn't return my calls. When the cake arrived it wasn't exactly the design that we had requested, but it was close enough and still beautiful, so all in all it was a great cake.

If you are thinking of Torrance Bakery and live out of town, make sure you set aside a specific time to do the tasting. We were in the area and thought we could just pop in. Silly us! We nixed the tasting and just went in an ordered what we thought would be good. We lucked out because it turned out to be the best wedding cake I had ever eaten! The design was beautiful and they are making us a small version for our 1 year anniversary:)

Torrance Bakery did an outstanding job on our wedding cake. It was gorgeous.......simply took my breath away on our wedding day, and it couldn't have tasted more delicious!
