The food was unreal and the presentation was beautiful! Our wedding was an overwhelming success and Sue played a huge roll in every aspect of our event. Her advice was right on on the menu, linens,time frames, table placement, DJ selection, ect, ect, ect. Sue and Melanie are pro's and they know what works! Their food is amazing and their service is second to none.

We used Trends Catering for our wedding back in May 2010.
My wife and I consider ourselves to be "foodies" and love to eat out all of the time. So we wanted the food at our wedding to be amazing. We met with seven different caterers and ended up choosing Trends because (a) the food was great and (b) Susan is wonderful. She worked with us to craft a special menu that my wife and I designed ourselves. We were under a tight budget but still wanted amazing food (not an easy combination in the wine country) but Susan worked with us for weeks to perfect it. She would call us and say, "you guys can probably save some money here by doing this..." Most caterers would not do that. She even gave us a 2nd tasting so we could try the new dishes that we had dreamt up.
And the best part... Trends is one of the few catering companies that will bbq the meat onsite if you want. A lot of the companies cook the food in their kitchens and then transfer it to your wedding site in a warming box (gross - like delivery food). But Susan and her team cook it all on site so its amazing!
By the end, Susan was like our 3rd mother. My wife and I were going nuts with stress in the weeks leading up to it and Susan talked us down several times. She was so understanding and helpful.
On the big day, the food and presentation was even better than at either of our two tastings. The morrocan tartlets she made were to die for! I had multiple guests come up to me and say it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding!

Trends deserves a 6.0 on the review scale! Susan is absolutely amazing in her vision, her enthusiasm, her creativity and her ability to deliver such high quality, professional results. Frankly, I don't know how she does it. From the moment we met her, we were sold on her high energy and great ideas. She provided us with a full meal of all the foods she planned to serve. We thought it was great. That is, until the wedding date, when the food ratcheted up a notch to phenomenal. We are still receiving calls on how fabulous the food was and how great the presentation was, the set up was and how terrific the staff was. Sadly, we are the last of our friends to marry or else Trends would have full-time employment within our circle of family and friends. As a bride who just got to show up, I felt confident that Susan and her staff would have everything in order and they did. I was able to enjoy the day knowing everything would be perfect. If there were any disasters, and there weren't, I would have never heard about them, anyway. Everything was perfect from the staffing, the setup, the service, the food and the breakdown. Did I mention how great the food was? It just doesn't get any better. Really.
We had an excellent experience with Trends Catering and Susan, the owner. From the moment we first met Sue and tasted the Trends food we were impressed. It was a large step above the other tastings we had at Larry Vito and Park Avenue. We initially hired Trends based on the quality of the food and our positive impression of Susan. In addition to the food being excellent, we liked that they limit the number of events on each day so that Susan was actually there at our wedding. With some of the larger catering companies you meet with a salesperson and plan the wedding with that person, but they are not there the day of the wedding to execute the plan. It was great that after a year and a half of working with Sue that she was there the day of the wedding to make sure that everything went according to plan.
We had a three course sit-down meal with a salad course, pasta course and entree of either hanger steak in a Cabernet reduction or sea bass. Considering the meal and the staff necessary to execute the event Trends offers excellent value for the cost. Susan did not nickle and dime us and was very conscious of staying within our budget; in fact, she was more concerned with sticking to our budget than we were. When we decided to upgrade the glass wear she looked for other ways to cut costs (but not corners) so that she could deliver on her original estimate. At the end of the night Susan and her staff boxed up some of the extra food so that we could have a late night snack.
The staff at the wedding was professional and very competent, including the bartenders and waitstaff. Another nice thing about hiring Trends is that you are free to provide your own alcohol. Trends provided the bar set-up and the bartender, but we bought all of our own beer and wine at Bottle Barn. In doing so, we were able to buy high end beer and wine, without having to pay any corkage fee or mark-up through the caterer. We served beer for $1.50/bottle and wine at $25/bottle, whereas had we used another caterer we would have been charged $4.50 for the beer and $55 for the bottle of wine. Being able to provide our own alcohol enabled us to serve high end products at a low cost, relative to other venues and caterers.
Dealing with Susan during the year and a half of planning was very pleasant. She always returned emails promptly and was happy to meet with us on several occasions to discuss details. We met with her for a tasting a year and a half before the wedding, a second time 6 months before the wedding to discuss linen and other rentals, a second tasting a few months before the wedding, and then she was present at our Vine Hill House walk-through. At each appointment she spent hours with us discussing the details and never made us feel rushed. We appreciated all the time she spent working to make our event just as we wanted it to be.
Also, Susan runs her business with environmentally sound practices. She is one of the only catering business in Northern California with green certification and she was very excited about working with me to have as many local ingredients as possible.

We chose Trends Catering over Park Avenue and A La Heart Catering. It was an easy decision and everything exceeded our expectations. We were impressed with our first tasting where her chef joined us as well as her assistant. We felt like we were in good hands and they seemed like a family.
The food was amazing and our guests were absolutely raving about how great the food and service was. The staff was phenomenal, so professional, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Sue was a delight to work with and the fact that she was doing everything herself (no sales people) made a difference. She was quick to return emails. She was working toward getting environmental certification, but I think she is already there. She did not have any plastic water bottles or cups, yea!
We had the mesquite grilled tequila lime prawns w/ chipotle aioli (YUM), Thai quesadillas with carmelized onions, apple and red chili sauce as appetizers. Buffet dinner: Sea bass with red wine reduction sauce (out of this world), twelve layer yukon gold potato gratin, and grilled seasonal veggies with red pepper aioli.
All of it was a smash hit with the guests. After the wedding, I was showered with compliments about the food! Not only do I highly recommend Trends Catering, but I would contract with her for an event without a second thought.
