Reviews for trudys brides

If I could give Trudy's 10 stars, I would! This is a 3 part review so bear with me. The level of service is by far stellar and above expectations!I had an appt. here yesterday to try on bridal dresses. I was greeted right away and informed that the consultant I requested specifically was out sick so instead I was working with Denise. At first I was bummed but not for long. What a GEM! She made me feel right at home and my entourage as well. She was so kind and really understood what I was looking for and what I didn't like. She didn't rush me at all and even grabbed water for me when I got a lil hot. LOLWhile in one dress that we all seemed to like, my Mom asked Denise if she'd put a veil on me "just to see" and Denise said, "of course!" Once the veil was on - that did it. That was the moment that it all clicked and I got that typical 'moment.' Tissues were on hand right away too. After a few other dresses that weren't winning me over - Denise told me we had time for one more dress. It could be a new dress or we could try one on again a 2nd time. We tried 'the one' on a 2nd time and this just reassured all of us that this was it. We will be ordering my dress very soon!!!*I was at Trudy's last August while shopping for my friend's wedding dress and the service was the same - superb. We worked with Lelani (consultant requested for my appt.)*And there again 2 weeks ago for their Mother/Daughter event. Which my Sister, Mom, and I truly enjoyed our time there and our shopping experience with Tori (sp?).

I had an amazing experience at Trudy's! My consultant was Shannon and she was super sweet. My mom and I had just come from a different bridal salon and had a very mediocre experience. Shannon sat down with us first and asked about the wedding and my overall vision. She asked what kind of style the wedding would have and what kind of dresses I'm drawn to. She really considered everything about the wedding in order to help pull the right dresses.I had already fallen madly in love with a dress in a magazine, so we tried that on first and that was it! She was nice enough to let me stand there for almost an hour in the first and only dress I tried on. She was so helpful with trying on veils and hair flowers. We tried on jewelry too. I honestly felt like a princess! It was the experience I had always imagine for myself and my mom to share. We ordered the dress that day and they said it would take 4-6 months for it to come in. We got it in 3! I couldn't have been happier with my Trudy's experience. We ordered bridesmaid dresses and MOB dresses there too. Highly recommended!

Trudy's staff was Awesome. I needed my dress in a rush and they were caring and made it happen. I never felt pressured or rushed. My consultant Didi new exactly what I was looking for and found me my Perfect Dress. I recieved many comments about my dress and how gorgeous it was. One of my guest actually said " the dress looked like it was designed with me in mind". I felt Amazing in my dress. Thank You Didi!!Andrea Silva

I loved the dress I chose. The sales girl was very patient with us and we ended up selecting a dress that was only out for 2 weeks. Still brand new. We ordered it 5 months ahead of the wedding and it arrived 2 weeks prior to the wedding date. They were able to get my alterations done next door quickly and everything worked out perfect!

I really loved Trudy's! Not only did I get my main wedding dress there, I caved and went back a month before the wedding and bought a "reception" dress, and I am SO glad that I did! My first one was HOT and being able to change into a much lighter gown with no train or bustle to deal with was fabulous. We also bought the bridesmaid dresses there! I loved the experience, all the people that helped me and my girls out, and the overall feel of it all. But of course, it will cost ya! I spent more than we had planned on the wedding dress, but it was exactly what I wanted! I just wish they would have prepared me for the future visit to the alterations lady I used. The dress didn't fit me right, but lost the weight to fix it. It worked out...but wish they were more front with you about the additional costs...it was more than what they said it would be.But nonetheless, I love them!

Went to find my wedding dress in February 2010 & on the first visit found my dream dress. Just got back from our wedding/honeymoon in Kona, Hawaii & the dress was PERFECT!

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I came to Trudy's. When I was researching places to go to find my dress, Trudy's was last on my list. I read reviews on Yelp and saw that so many brides had experienced bad customer service. And I'm huge on customer service. When looking for the "one" I had gone to 3 stores already and was ready to call it a day. Then my sister asked "didn't you want to go to Trudy's?" I really didn't want to, but then my mom said, "let's go." So we did. I had made an appointment just in case which was good because they were a bit busy. My dress consultant was Tammy Bailey. She's what made my experience there so worth it. As soon as we got to the dressing area, she asked what kind of dress I was looking for, what I didn't want, and what my pricepoint is. Then off she went to look for dresses. She pulled exactly what I had described and all within my price range. She had also pulled a dress that I wasn't quite looking for but looked beautiful so I tried it on anyway. Beautiful dresses! I had cried with one dress, but I still didn't make the decision that day. After a few weeks, after I had pretty much decided on what dress I wanted, we went back and this time I took my dad. I tried on a few more dresses just to make sure and then put on the one I wanted. The look on my dad's face sealed the deal. And it was the dress that Tammy had pulled that was a style that I wasn't exactly looking for :) But I knew it was the one, there was something about it that I couldn't let go on.
So anyway, reviews are very helpful when trying to decide whether or not to check it out. I'm glad that I went to Trudy's despite the many negative reviews I read on Yelp. Sometimes you just need to take a chance. I'm very glad that I did.
Trudy's did a wonderful job. If you can, ask for Tammy Bailey. She was really helpful and a true sweetheart. She knows her job and does it well.
Trudy's has a big selection of dresses in many different price ranges. AND they have gowns in plus sizes too :) DO make an appointment because they do get busy. Good luck in finding "the dress."

I am so happy with my gorgeous dress that I got at Trudy's. Excellent selection, and very nice service. They really did a nice job helping me.

I grew up walking by trudys as a little girl always dreaming that I'd buy my dress there. I was so excited that day came about and I found my dream dress with the help of the wonderful staff. The only thing I didn't like was the alterations department. They were slow to return calls and the attitude they put off was poor. Other than that I'm happy to have found my dress here.

I had an amzing experience here. I told them what I was looking for and the price I wanted to stay under and they found the perfect dress for me. They didn't try and show me dresses out of my budget so they could make a bigger sale which was great! My dress even came in 2 months earlier then they said! I would highly recommend.

Turdy's ordered my wedding dress from Spain and got it much quicker than they originally estimated. Their price was fair and I ended up finding a $500+ veil on clearance for $170! I found a ripe and they gave me an additional discount. I was disappointed there was limited on-site alterations. Only one woman works there and she's booked for months. The place across from them took me right away but she was overpriced and wasn't very friendly to work with. Overall my experience at Trudy's was rather positive.

I was very pleased with my experience at Trudy's Bridal. The saleswomen listened to what I wanted and ended up pulling the best dress ever for me. The dress came in on time and they were always very helpful when I came in for accessories and veil. It is also nice to have Trudy on the floor to give opinions on dresses and such.

I went to Trudy's because everyone I knew seemed to have gone there to get their dress. They worked well with me to find the dress I was looking for in my price range. I appreciated that they did not try to up sell me on a dress that was more money. My dress was beautiful and I ended up picking my bridesmaids dresses from them as well because they give a 15% discount on other dresses if you buy your wedding gown there. It may not be as fancy as other places but they have tons of dresses at every price point and every style and is a one stop shop for wedding attire.

Overall, good service and lovely quality dress. A bit on pricey side, but worth it.

I looked for a dress in so many places and when i stopped at trudy's I had found my dress. If it wasn't for Marika the the overall rating would have gone down. But Marika was a great person to work with. I gave her a vision of what i had wanted. she pulled a dress from Casa blanca and it was the one! I loved it.! I would go with the person you can get along with because if the sales lady isnt friendly don't bother. But the only think that bothered me was that the vail came in later then the dress. they claim that they had to special order it from spain and it was on back order. lucky we lied about my wedding date so it got there a week before my pretend wedding date. I cant imagine if it was really that close to my wedding date and they finally decide to have it ready a week before my pretend wedding date. But Marika was the best at what she does! =)

I had a great experience at Trudys. I worked with Diane and she listened to what I wanted, was sweet and patient and never pressured me.
I was apprehensive about my appt. because I had heard from others that Trudys likes to through a little "attitude" but that was not the case at all during my appt. I would suggest going on a weekday if you can. The weekends are a bit of a madhouse. Try not to bring too large of a party with you as well. I think most areas can accomdate 3-4 friends at the most, comfortably.
They have a great selection at every price point and have the most designers than any bridal salon in the south bay and I'm pretty sure I've been to them all.
Good luck!

Be careful when you walk into this place. They are foremost a business and it's all about making the sale. So it's great if they help you find your dream dress. They are a huge well known bridal salon and they are supremely aware of it. They also have a good eye. But take your time. Don't feel pressured. And perhaps do not make this your first stop in your dress search. They usually only allow you to try on a certain number of dresses for one hour only. They are very strict with time because they are in the business of selling. Very efficient. They know what they are doing. Just be prepared for the hard sell and the snobbery.

We were ignored pretty badly here at first, but as soon as they realized I made an appointment, they came over and complimented us with their words and attention. After a few minutes they became complete sweethearts, which I admit, was hard not to love. I definitely ended up liking my dresser, Marika. They showed me every dress I wanted and were really good about matching my personality. I was even allowed to take photos. The only this is that they are pretty pricey but the dresses are gorgeous.

Trudy's Brides deserves 5 stars for sure!!! I had only a little over 2 months to find me a wedding dress and I just so happen went to Trudy's Brides on a weekend when they were having a Bridal Show in the Pruneyard. I didn't have an appointment that day so my friend and I went in to just look through the dresses. They have a huge selection of dresses to select from. I was still allowed to try on dresses even without an appointment. However, when a consultant found out I was getting married in a few months, she asked Trudy if I could get a consultant to work with me that very day. She definitely agreed and sure enough, they made it happen. I discussed with my dress consultant what kind of dress I was looking for and of course she went above and beyond my ideas. She had me try on a dress that was a little different from what I was imagining but it was the dress I fell in love with. It was perfect! The floor model didn't need much alterations so I got excited! I was a little worried that the dress wouldn't be able to ship in time for me to do any required alterations and be ready for the wedding date but it was really meant to be. They found out that the dress was no longer being made. Therefore, they sold me the floor model at a nice discount!!! It was still in absolute great condition so double bonus!!! Thank you to Trudy's Brides for making my wedding dress shopping an easy and fun experience. Thanks to you, I felt like the most confident, elegant, & beautiful bride on my wedding day.

I went to Trudy's because it was the only store that carried the Henry Roth gown i wanted (and eventually purchased).
Lauren-Beth was my consultant and was very helpful and super nice.
I went on a weekday to avoid the annoying brigade that some brides bring - as in one time i was in there another time and one bride-to-be had 7 people with her - s-e-v-e-n!! There should be rules about that shit!
Anyway, back to my experience at Trudy's - Lauren Beth was super helpful and left me alone to soak in the image of me in the dress... That's the true test of great customer service - there is a time to be chatty and be "around" but there is also the time when you should leave your client alone so she can think and envision her own wedding as she's staring at herself in the mirror with "her" dress on. Lauren BEth understood this, and after 10 minutes or so, popped in to see if I had made a decision.
Overall, Trudy's is a great shop - it carries literally hundreds upon hundreds of dresses - for each price point and style. There is also a wide variety of veils to choose from and try on when you're trying on dresses.
This has been said before, but I hate the crowds at Trudy's. I wish they'd limit the amount of people one bride can bring in - it's so annoying having random strangers gawk at you while you're looking at yourself in the mirror trying to "have a moment".
========================================
My BMs bought their Jim Hjelm dresses from Trudy's next door. Heather was the consultant and was helpful
Another great incentive at Trudy's is because I purchased my gown ther, my BMs were given a discount on their dresses. I'm not sure if they still do this, but at the time, it was a great deal!
========================================
I decided to give Trudy's 3 stars b/c:
Pros:
+huge selection of dresses
+huge selection of shoes and accessories
+carries many bridesmaid designers/manufacturers
Cons:
-large crowds; there should be a rule about one person bringing in 7 people at a time!!
-most veils and accessories seem extremely overpriced
-other than Lauren Beth, most of the consultants are rude or seem too busy to even OFFER to help

My experience shopping for a dress was 2 stars but my experience going with my friend to shop for her dress was a 3.
I had heard great things about Trudy's but I was truly underwhelmed. I don't even remember the name of my consultant because frankly, it's like she wasn't even there.
I had already gone shopping before so I told her what I was looking for, specifically what I didn't want and my budget. I was taken to the dressing rooms and asked if I needed a bustier. I didn't but she brought one anyways saying the dress would fit better with one on.
She walked in with a couple of dresses that somewhat fit my criteria. I tried them on and each one I walked out with to show my sister was a no. She didn't really offer her opinion even when I asked her what she would put me in. She brought some dresses that I didn't even try because they had what I specifically told her I didn't want. Why bother showing and bringing dresses that I said I didn't want?
After one dress where I walked out to show my sister, the consultant said that she wasn't sure if she had any others but that I should walk around to see if any caught my eye. There I was walking around the store in a wedding dress looking for another to try on. Seriously?
Obviously I didn't buy a dress from them.
I wish I had the consultant that my friend had. I went with her here, and her consultant sat down with her to talk about the wedding, where and when it was going to be, what styles she was interested in if any, what she didn't like or want and her budget. She actually had a conversation with her! I wish mine did this.
She brought dresses that fit my friend's criteria and brought others that she thought would look good on her. I swear each dress she walked out in fit her great, she looked awesome and it totally fit what she had in mind. She wasn't ready to buy that day but she walked out with more clarity of what styles fit her and what she should be looking for. The consultant was super friendly and very accommodating.

Trudy's staff was very helpful in the selection of my wedding dress, my mom's dress, and my bridesmaids' dresses. They had some really great choices and they carried all of the designers I was looking for. They also have an amazing variety of accessories. I will definitely use them again for formalwear.

Trudy's helped me find the perfect dress. Mariska was a true expert when helping me choose a dress. She didn't waste my time trying on a bunch of dresses that she knew would not look as flattering on me. After listening to what I was looking for, she immediately went to get a dress that she had in mind. It turned out to be the one. I didn't buy it right away, but after going to a few more stores, I realized that I had to get the first dress that I tried on at Trudy's. The dress came in quickly and looked beautiful the day of. Everyone gave me compliments on the dress the day of and said it was one of the most beautiful dresses they had seen.

My dress was approximately $1100. And for Trudy's Brides, this is probably on the cheaper end, but it definitely didn't look like it. I felt like a princess in my wedding dress. Thats when i finally knew that it was "the one". Sheryl helped me out. So, major kudos for her finding my perfect dress. When my dress came, my mom and I noticed that there was a hole right in the front of the dress at the waist. The employees notified the owner Trudy and she said that she'd take care of it. Within a month or so, we got a different dress and no hole! Thank you thank you Trudy :)

Buying my dress at Trudy's was a great experience. They were so kind & helpful.

Despite having read some mixed reviews, I checked out Trudy’s anyways and am so glad I did. Trudy’s has a great selection of bridal gowns, and I was lucky to work with a very sweet consultant by the name of Leilani. On my second visit to Trudy’s, I bought my dress!
PROS
- You can take photos -
Despite what I’d heard (and what I’ve experienced at other bridal shops), my bridesmaids and friends were allowed to take ample photos of me trying on bridal gowns. These photos were really useful – it’s hard to remember all the dresses after you’ve tried on more than 10!
- You can visit more than once -
Someone had told me that you could only go to Trudy’s once to try on dresses. But she was clearly wrong, because I visited the store twice, bought my dress on my second visit, and returned a third time for my viewing appointment (where you try on your actual dress once it arrives and play with accessories).
- Super sweet saleslady/consultant -
Leilani was so sweet and patient with me. I really felt that she was trying to give me honest feedback and not just get me to buy a dress. I also spoke briefly with Trudy herself and thought she was really nice! I didn’t speak extensively with anyone else in the store, but I also didn’t have negative interactions with any of the staff.
- Good selection, decent prices -
I tried on a variety of dresses in trumpet/mermaid and A-line silhouettes and was able to get a good idea of what I liked and didn’t like on me. Contrary to some of the reviews I’ve read, I didn’t get any attitude about my desired price range ($1000-1500). Wedding gowns are crazy expensive, but we found one close to my price range that I loved. (I don’t think that Leilani brought me any gowns very much outside my price range, which is good!)
- Found my dress! -
No matter how great the store, it’s fairly useless to you if you don’t find a dress you love. I can’t promise that you’ll find your dress at Trudy’s, but I did and I wasn’t tempted to go shopping again.
CONS (but pretty mild as cons go)
- Cozy, not upscale -
I’ve read some reviews where brides complained that Trudy’s was crowded. I disagree – I had plenty of room to walk around and my bridesmaids/friends had room to sit down and relax. However, I do agree that Trudy’s doesn’t have the same feel or atmosphere as an upscale bridal salon.
- No in-house seamstress -
Instead, Trudy’s provides you with a list of tailoring shops that they have worked with in the past. I had received two independent recommendations for another seamstress (Si Arima, see my separate review for her work), so I did not go with a seamstress that was “approved” by Trudy’s. A bit of extra work on my part, but really not that bad, all things considered.
- Not upfront about designer/model name of dress -
(Not necessarily specific to Trudy’s, as I think this is common practice in all bridal shops.)
I get the feeling that bridal shop consultants are doing their darnedest NOT to tell you the designer and model numbers/names of the dresses. Instead, they tell you that they will write down the name of the dress in your “file”. If you look closely at the tags, there’s a series of cryptic codes in place of useful information. I understand that the shops don’t want to lose your business, but I find the practice sneaky and deceptive. During my first visit to Trudy’s, we did manage to get the names of the designers who made the dresses I liked… I just don’t understand why they can’t be upfront with that information.
FYI, I’ve cross-posted this review on Yelp, WeddingWire, and Project Wedding.

After asking former brides and cross referencing reviews, I went to Trudy's. It was my first stop in bridal gown shopping and I didn't know what to expect nor what I wanted. I wanted to go to a shop that had a very large variety of dresses and that is what I got.
I made an appointment for a weekday and they assigned me to Karen. Karen is awesome! And this is why, she has been at Trudy's for 5+ years so she has a lot of experience in understanding what the bride is looking for w/o having to go into much detail. Considering I was one of those semi-clueless brides who hasn't barely picked up a magazine about gowns this was definitely a plus for me! She wasn't pushy at all, she listened a lot, even when I wasn't talking she was very observant of the look on my face when I put on a dress and remembered it!
Now I haven't actually decided on my dress yet but after trying on 30 gowns in one day, my top two contenders are the ones I've tried at Trudy's and were chosen for me by Karen. Great service!
**edit to drop rating down to a 3 from a 4 star**
Although, I had received extremely great service from Karen at Trudy's Brides. I was completely disappointed(and out a pretty penny) when I used one of their referred seamstresses!! Admittedly I hadn't done too much research on seamstresses in the Bay Area and all the ones I did know of were booked far in advance and I had received my gown a month before my wedding. Trusting in Trudy's I went with one of their referred seamstresses AND actually had 3 fittings with her and still felt like something was not right. (I'm a bride, not a professional seamstress). Going with my instinct and not knowing any better I paid the lady and took my gown somewhere else. Lo and behold, I find that my instincts were on point. My new seamstress has even mentioned that alot of Trudy's brides go to her after they've gone to one of their referred seamstresses!
Trudy's Preferred Seamstress list need an audit desperately.

Good, solid experience. Get's pretty crowded on weekends so the associates are helping multiple brides at one time. Still impressed, overall.

After a long day of looking at other bridal shops that didn't really have anything I wanted, it was a bit of a relief to get to Trudy's. Although I didn't have an appointment, they had someone (Hella was her name, seriously) to see me within 15 minutes. They found a dress within the first three dresses that I loved. They told me that I could order it in a different color (white instead of the off white I tried on), however I wish they would've told me all the options for the dress (ie. the beading could've been in a different color, etc.). I also wish they would've ordered me a smaller size. I also wish they would've had a seamstress in house. Although they had a list of tailor shops to give me, I found one near my house, and it cost another THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS to get the hem shortened as well as the bust taken in (although not enough), and ANOTHER amount of money (I didn't pay actually, hubby did :) ) to get it pressed somewhere else because they wouldn't do it there. Argh... this dress was probably the worst part of my wedding, but at least it was done and more or less fit. Anyway, Trudy's was ok overall, and I did get the experience of watching my mom's face light up when I came out in THE dress. :)I dunno, I guess I watched too much "Say Yes To The Dress" and expected too much.

Trudy's was the one and only gown shop I went to. My maid of honor and mom came with me for my appointment. I suggest brides go with a maximum of 4 people to minimize the potential for managing too many opinions. There were a few brides at the same time who had 5+ women with them and they did not look happy with the comments. Anyway... I had Marika and she was fabulous. The only preference I had was for the dress to be strapless. She had me try on 6 gowns. The first one I thought had too much - I didn't see myself wearing a gown with too much beading... so she adjusted and found a few gowns w/ different amounts of beading. Then she had me try one that was all lace (beautiful! but then we looked at the price tag.)... In the end it was the first gown that I went with. Funny because Marika said that once she saw me, she pictured that gown immediately. It was approximately the price we anticipated. But almost just as important was the experience - she kept it fun and light (I'm not a big shopper and I'm not a fan of undressing in front of strangers or needing someone else's help to get the gown on...) but her excitement & enthusiasm were contagious. The magical moment was when she tucked my hair up, put a veil on me, and a fake bouquet in my hands. My maid of honor started to cry ... then me and mom!Con: Just that it's such a drive. Watch out if you're ordering your bridesmaid dresses from here. There's a 10% discount or something, but make sure you order AT LEAST five months before your wedding date, otherwise those rush fees will get you.

I grew up in Campbell, and as a little girl, I would walk by Trudy's window and dream about the day that I could go there to buy my wedding dress. I remember when I first walked in when I was younger and saw the most beautiful bride trying on her dress. She stood on the pedastal against the three way mirror... glowed like mad, and it was truly what dreams were made of.
When I finally did get engaged, Trudy's was one of the first places I went. I had been to Bay Area Bridal with a few friends and tried on an assortment of dresses so I had something to compare my experience with. I don't know if I had too high of expectations, but it was not at all like I imagined. While the service was great, and my bridal consultant was very kind, I felt like all of the dresses I tried on looked the same. The only dress that I did like at Trudy's however, I got at Bay Area Bridal during a sample sale for 60% off the price Trudy's quoted me.
All in all though, they did give me all their attention and were not at all pushy so customer service was good. They also allowed me to take pictures while in the dress. I just wish the consultant gave me more of a selection. The only dress that I ended up liking, I picked out myself because it was sitting near the dressing room.
So nothing grand, nothing bad... I really can't complain.

I found my dress after the second time I went back to Trudys, and I was so happy. Trudys has tons of gowns to choose from, but it can get really crowded during the weekends, so if you can go on a weekday/night, that'd be good. Depending on the consultant, some will let you try on 10 gowns, some only let you try on 3. Different levels of experience in their consultants, stick with the more mature ladies rather than the young ones. The mature lady has more patient and ideas, like mine, Hella. Hella is very patient & was able to find the dress that I want. Delivery time of the dress is just right, definitely go in at least 8 months in advance just to give yourself enough time.

I had a great experience with the bridal section of Trudy's. I had a dress in mind, contacted the shop and found out they had it and in my size! I tried it on and loved it, and I came back once with my mom to show her before purchasing it. Karen was awesome, very mellow and no pressure from her which is how to get a sale from me!
However the bridesmaid dress shopping was a very different experience. I of course, in an effort to take advantage of the discount since I brought my dress there and maybe make things easier, wanted to get my dresses from there. I brought in my two maids of honor and was introduced to Joseph, who between disappearing on us and being snotty was just more annoying that anything.
We left the shop and I went a couple other places, one being Elegant Lace in San Jose. There I was told again I could do a fabric change - a B2 dress in Belsoie fabric. After going home and sleeping on it I decided I wanted a B2 style in a Belsoie fabric was what i wanted to do.
Now I drove down to Campbell to Trudy's to place the order and with a young gal (can't remember her name) who told me firmly that there was no way to do the fabric change that I had wanted. That threw me for a loop. I went home and called Elegant Lace to and the sales woman there told me that she was looking at the book and it said it right there in black and white that it was doable for a fee.
I called Trudy's to ask for them to confirm it and got snotty Joseph again and was told that the woman I talked to when I was in the shop had "worked here for a long time so I'm sure she knows what she's talking about." I asked him to check for me which he concede he would leave a message for someone to call me on Monday. End of day Monday I called the shop, got someone else who said they would find out. Guess what?! They CAN do the fabric change after all.
Well. Guess where I ordered my bridesmaid dresses - Elegant Lace.
So love them for bridal, not so much for occasion.

Trudy's was very helpful in helping me find my wedding dress. Though the store can be a little over crowded and crazy, their selection is good. You just have to squeeze passed the strollers that people feel belong in a bridal store (??) Linda, my sales associate was absolutely great and made choosing my dress so much easier for me. Price was more than I had planned, but I got lucky and they were having a sale so I was able to get my veil and other accessories for free.

Trudy's is definitely the store with the largest selection of bridal gowns in my area (South Bay). I've heard so many nightmare stories of bad service and rude saleswomen that I was a bit skeptical when I went in the first time. It was my first ever time going dress shopping, and I arrived without an appointment near closing time. They informed me quite nicely that next time, I should make an appointment but since another girl canceled, they could squeeze me in (which was a huge surprise!)
I got Sheila as my sales associate and she was AMAZING. I gave her my vision of a wedding dress and right away, she started pulling out half a dozen gowns for me to try on. They were all beautiful, as if she knew exactly what I had in mind. She also took the time to make me feel comfortable and clipped the dress perfectly so I could see what it looked like in my size. Another plus: Trudy's lets you take PICTURES.
The second time I returned and got another associate, who wasn't as helpful as Sheila, but far from rude and condescending. She just wasn't as attentive, and didn't have as much of an eye for what I liked, but she was still very helpful.
All in all, it must be a hit and miss, depending on the associate you get. But I recommend SHEILA. :D

This place had me in tears twice, and almost made me cancel my wedding. It started out like a fairy tale, I found the same dress in the magazine, and even though it was 800 more than I wanted to spend, the sales lady was nice and attentive and I put down the deposit the dress on hold. When I came back to show it to my mother, the woman I originally worked with was gone and I ended up with this snooty elitist broad that acted like the dress was too good for me. But, I ignored her, and fell in love with the dress ten times more than the first time I tried it on. Fast forward a month before the wedding, and I go for the final fitting. They pull out the dress and it's hideous! 1) There was a giant run down the front like someone bigger than me tried to fit into it. 2) There was an actual hole at the base of the zipper 3) There was a big white stain near the front thigh. Obviously, someone else tried on the dress, but they claimed that I had done that. And that it was already like that when I first put it on hold. Infact, the woman got so uppity and insulted that I would even suggest that they made a mistake that she yelled at me and had me bawling and running out of the store.Simple facts. The dress? Size 8. Me? Size 4. The dress hung off of me, I would have had to have gain 80lbs, tried it on, then lost the weight, and tried it on again, all within 3 weeks. Not Likely. And the stain? I don't even want to think about that.Anyway, I had already decided that this was my dress, so I went back and talked to Trudy herself. She apologized for the conduct, assured me that no one else could have tried it on, but offered to take money off of the dress so I could have it cleaned. When I went back to get this 'offer' the same uppity woman was back and told me the offer was rescinded because I did this to the dress, but they were willing to give me my deposit back. I fought with her on it, and she condescendingly told me that I was just stressed about my wedding and maybe I wasn't ready to get married. That was pretty much the final straw. SO, after crying over losing THE dress, I got my deposit back and ended up getting married in a prom dress that fit my budget. Guess it wasn't meant to be. But as nice as the selection and atmosphere was, I'm convinced this place is only in business because of a good reputation that failed to be true a long time ago.

I actually ended up purchasing two gowns from Trudy's. I bought the first one & lost too much weight for it to be properly altered. About a month before my wedding I ended up buying another. They did give me a good discount for my off the rack purchase. I just wish they would accept some returns or order down.

Wonderful dress shop in Campbell area. Tudy was very nice and polite every time I went there. I ordered a sleeveless dress, but had cap sleeves added to the dress. The seamstress they recommended was great and very talented. She did a great job. I have TONS of comments on my dress. :) You'll never find another one like it.

Trudy's was recommended to me by a PW member. It is located almost 2.5 hours away from where I live so I ended up taking off work and went on a Tuesday at 12. There were a ton of dresses in a mix of different price ranges. I had a great experience w/ Marika. She was very helpful and listened to the look I was going for and also had advice that helped aid my decision on what looks good on my shape etc... The following Sun I went with my mom and grandma to show them "THE" dress. The store was busy that day, but I never felt like I was being pushed out of the way or rushed. We were allowed to take pictures as well. We even found out that the dress I wanted was available in my city at another bridal store, but we liked Marika and our experience at Trudy's so much that we ordered it through them. We purchased the dress during a promotion going on at Trudy's...with that I ended up getting a large credit towards any item in the store which covered a huge part of the accesories and reception items.
I got my dress about 6 months after (Jan 20th)which they said is how long it would take. I was a little bummed though to find out it had come in the beginning of Dec and I didn't get a phone call to tell me...but overall great experience...Highly recommend :)

*This review is on off the rack dresses*
Trudy's saved my wedding, I have to say.
I purchased my gown at La Belle Elaine's in Seattle. The dress took 4-5 months to ship, and they told me that even though I lived in San Jose, CA, it wouldn't be any problem. Well when the dress arrived and I tried it on, it didn't zip up and there's about 3-4 inches of gap! After days of talking to that shop I realized they won't do much for me since they're not local, so I started looking for another dress while the wedding is less than 30 days away.
Trudy's has an amazing selection of off the rack dresses! Sheryl was the girl that helped me find THE dress I'd like. She is easy going, has great knowledge about dresses and could give me her honest opinion when I asked for it. She and other people at the shop heard me complaining about my original gown and they offered to measure my gown to see if the dress was cut incorrectly. The store owner and Sheryl even helped me decide if I should pursue the Seattle boutique for recourse. It made me feel so much better knowing that someone in the bridal industry actually CARES about their bride, unlike the salon in Seattle.
Sheryl is simply outstanding. Not only was she warm and professional, she was very sympathetic about my situation and was as angry about my original dress as I was! And I trusted her taste on dresses 100%, without a doubt.

I am so glad I found Trudys Bridal. I was going there for an emergency search ( 2 weeks before my wedding) because the one I ordered 5 months before my wedding was never come. Tammy is such excellent sales rep. I told her what was my situation, my budget, and what style I like within an hour I found my dream dress.
GUEST

I really liked my wedding dress, and it was incredible value (sample gown, hardly worn), BUT I felt as if the service I received was a bit snotty, precisely because I only wanted to look at gowns in the $500 range, when Trudy's is usually >$1K. So, I'd come here to browse their sample sales, and if you want an expensive dress, but their service was wanting.

I would recommend booking an appointment with Karen Cremona for choosing a dress. She is friendly, experienced, and not pushy. Dress came 2 months before they said it would arrive, a nice surprise. I used their seamstress onsite, which was only okay (Martha). Her alterations weren't quite what I wanted, and she mixed up an appointment time and made me wait awhile for my second fitting.

My maid of honor and I went to Trudy's to look at dresses and we both ended up purchasing our dresses here. I didn't want a formal gown, and Trudy's had a great selection of bridesmaids dresses I could choose from. They also put the order on rush because it was late January and the wedding was in April, but both of us got our dresses in plenty of time. I can't comment on alterations since I went through a different tailor, but Trudy's was great about pressing my dress the week before my wedding, even though I hadn't done alterations there. I really appreciated their service.

As a few people have mentioned, they can be snobby at first. Then once they get ya going, the process is much more enjoyable. We had Marika as our consultant and she was prompt and humorous. You might be able to find a dress cheaper somewhere else though I can honestly say: all in all I had a good experience here. Everyone loved the dress.

I have a mixed review for Trudy's. It was definitely the nicest in appearance of the bridal salon's I've been too, and certainly had a large selection, however I did feel a certain amount of pressure when leaving the salon.
The lady I worked with seemed very helpful and nice throughout the whole session, running and getting me dresses, giving me a large selection of price points and styles, etc. However at the end she told me the dress I liked most was "brand new" (i.e. 2009) and that she didn't know if the designer would continue this particular style since designers see how they sell first, and that the "trial price" it is at right now may change if they sell well. Basically saying that I should make my mind soon. So I take this in mind, tell her I have to think about it and look online, and get back to her.
I went online at home and the dress was from Fall 07!! I don't care that it's not brand new, but why lie? With the help of a fellow PW'er whose mother runs a bridal shop, I found out that what the saleslady told me was not true, that the idea of a "test price" is something she's never heard of, and that this particular designer rarely discontinues her styles.
But to the saleslady's credit, she nailed my style and found what is potentially "the dress." So for that dress alone I'm going to give Trudy's another try, but perhaps with Marika or Sheryl this time...
UPDATE 7/30/08: So I went back today and did end up meeting with the same saleslady. I clarified the fact that the dress was Fall 07 and she looked genuinely surprised. She stuck to the fact that the salon had just gotten it 3 months ago but said she'd check with Trudy. She came back and said she was mistaken, the dress was from 07, but stores didn't get it until 08, and they didn't get it until 3 months ago personally in the store because that's when Trudy decided to pick the dress up from the Fall 07 line. So that's the story with that. After the last visit, I called around for the price and the price they gave me at Trudy's was accurate. So in the end I found and bought my dress here. I definitely recommend weekdays or weekday nights. I had absolutely no problem with either the bridal or bridesmaid departments at these times.

I get the impression Trudy's is "the" place to go for south bay brides. I had a great experience with both my wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses. My sister got her wedding gown at Trudy's, and her consultant, Marika, did a great job, so I requested her. We talked for a few minutes and she picked out a dress, which she told me I probably wouldn't like, but we would learn a lot from it. I tried it on, and it was definitely not what I wanted, but we talked about what I did and did not like about the dress. The second dress I tried on was much more what I was looking for, and the third one was definitely the one. I loved it! I highly recommend Marika. She is friendly and seems to have a good eye for what will look good on a bride, as well as finding gowns that fit what a bride wants. I did not expect to find the dress that day, and I had asked my mother in law if she wanted to come shopping with us (as she has no daughters herself), but they were very gracious about letting me have an additional appointment so that she could have the experience too, even though I was already set on the dress. When I have been a bridesmaid, I have not been impressed with the bridesmaid department. It is crowded and I've felt you don't get a whole lot of service. However, I went in right after my bridal gown appointment, told them I was really pleased with how Marika picked out such a great dress, and asked if there was a bridesmaid equivalent. That person is Connie. I told her what I was looking for, she pulled some dresses, and sure enough, the right one was in there. I think your best bet in the bridesmaid department is to ask for a consultant -- Connie is a good choice--, tell them what you want, and have them pull for you, rather than going through all the racks of dresses. I would recommend Trudy's.

I was disappointed in my treatment at Trudy's. They had a few dresses for me to try on. The salesperson was somewhat helpful and did listen to me about the type of gown I wanted. They seemed uninterested in going any extra steps once they realized I was not going to buy on the spot. I ended up choosing one of the dresses from them and ordered online at half the price.

I was almost afraid to go to this place because I read some negative reviews about on yelp. I had a really positive experience here and end up buying a Jim Hjelm sample for less than 1/2 price! My sales associate was very helpful and did not act negatively when I told her my small budget and desire to buy a sample dress. I end up with a stunning dress at a bargin price!

I give them 3 stars, only because they have a HUGE selection of wedding dresses. Other than that, the customer service really sucks. The woman who helped me was really nice, but eveyone else was so snobby. I did eventually purchase my dress there though. And when I went back to pick up my beautiful dress, it seems like..because I bought my dress already, they didn't need to make me feel special anymore. =(
GUEST

I love my dress, but my best friend found it for me on the sale rack as we were waiting for my consultant. The consultant pulled some dresses that were not what I wanted, and I ended up taking the one off the rack! Also, they recommend a list of seamstresses. I DO NOT advise you to use Janine. She was nice, but highly overpriced. I drove 2 hours for each fitting, and on what I thought to be the last, she hadan't done the bustle. I had to come back a few days later, and the bustle broke during pictures! It wasn't even a super heavy dress, it was a sheath!

I loved my dress. LOVED it!! It was totally expensive, but worth it. Heather helped me and she was super nice. It's a great location and a beautiful store. The only issue I had was about 2 weeks after my wedding I tried to buy a bridesmaid dress off the rack and they wouldn't really budge on price even though they say you can have a discount for getting your wedding dress there. I guess once the wedding is over you can't get the discount, but with what I paid for my dress I assumed they would work something out with me. They didn't. Oh well, it's still a great place!

Trudy's is very popular. Had 4 bay area brides who had gotten married a year before and all of them landed up buying their gowns at Trudy's. I started my wedding gown search first on theknot.com and then narrowed down my style, Trudy's was one of the place that carried the gown. I also checked a few more bridalshops but finally settled on trudy's for it's selection. I was not a fan of being rushed into the changing room for my appointment, the first lady who help me was soo stressed out and aggressive that I just did not feel comfortable. I was also not too happy with some of the selections she provided but when I had narrowed down my choices to two, I made another appointment and had some friends help me make the final decision. The second time round I got a new lady and she was polite, courteous, and really patient. The place is really popular, meaning crowded and buzy. I had heard the bridesmaid department can be real rude and have to agree I had a similar experience, and landed up getting my bridesmaid dress through another store. My dress arrived earlier than promised and in great shape.I think Trudy's has a great selection and also an effective main staff. It really boils down to who you get to assist you .

The ladies at Trudy's are very helpful and are really talented at recommending dresses according to your personal likes and dislikes. I loved the shopping experience at Trudy's.

This was the FIRST place I went in search of my wedding dress. I requested Sheila, as I read on yelp.com that she was the best person to help you pick out the perfect dress. The reviews were right, she is the best & so nice!! Based on what I told her from the first dress I tried on (what I liked and didn't like) she brought me a second dress and that I absolutely fell in love with and ended up purchasing. Since I fell in love with the second dress I tired on here, I am absoutely 100% satisfied with the dress, customer service, and the price.

I went to Trudy's after going to 4-5 bridal salons. I bought my wedding dress at Trudy's because it had the dress that I was looking for and at the right price. My consultant was Lauren W. She was really nice and helpful. Lauren was also full of energy and very bubbly. Like everyone said, Trudy's is extremely busy on the weekends. However, I never felt the crowd. Lauren and her assistant was extremely attentive to me and my needs. I came in a second time to try on the dress before I bought it and both times I left the store happy with the service that I received. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Lauren. Every time I call Trudy's, whoever answers the phone was always extremely helpful and answered all my questions. I also bought my second dress (my evening gown) at Trudy's. I came back about five months later looking for another dress to wear during the reception. I found the dress that I was looking for. This time Courtney was the person who helped me since I was looking for the dress at Trudy's Special Occasions. Courtney was also really helpful. I came at the end of the day on a Saturday. It was quite pack since there were a lot of teens looking for a dress for prom. Even though it was so busy, Courtney was always around when I needed her. I found the dress that I was looking (after going to A LOT of bridal stores) and bought it. While I was paying for the dress, I received 15% off because I bought my wedding dress at Trudy's Bride. I was very happy to get some sort of discount since all of you will know, having a wedding is very expensive. I HIGHLY recommend Trudy's to anyone who is looking for a wedding or special occasion dress. The service that I received was impeccable.

My sales assistant (Linda) helped me to find the most beautiful dress that was totally within my budget. She really listened to what I wanted and was able to select the perfect dress for me. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day!

Despite the difficulties of getting an appointment on the weekends and the shared mirrors, I actually had a good experience at Trudy's. I really enjoyed working with Sheila. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, friendly, humorous, and honest. I appreciated that fact that she wasn't pushy and was very honest about which dresses were and weren't flattering on me. That's rare, especially since these stores are very commission driven. Sheila's a gem and I would highly recommend working with her!
Oh and they also allow you to take pictures as well.

Trudy's really set the standard for all other bridal salons I visited. I cannot recommend this shop enough. The amount of dresses brides have to choose from is truly staggering. The price range is also flexible, and I think that any bride, no matter what her budget, would be able to shop at Trudy's.Because Trudy's is so popular, appointments are always necessary, and only last half an hour. That could be a downside for some brides. However, during that half hour you have the undivided attention of the salesperson and a personal dressing room. The staff at Trudy's is wonderful. They know their products well, are very warm and welcoming, and offer helpful advice without overriding your opinion. They worked within my budget and never tried to talk me into something more expensive. When my gown arrived, I received a prompt phone call. The gown was as promised and fit very well. The dresses were lovely and all appeared to be of high quality. There are also various veils, shoes, and accessories to try on with your gown. The store is clean, attractive, and well-lit. I always enjoyed coming here...too bad it's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of shopping trip.I also had my bridesmaids purchase their dresses in the Special Occasions department, where we also received exceptional service.

I came to Trudy's because I heard good things about their selection of dresses -- in terms of their range of styles and price-ranges, they were excellent and I highly recommend going in as part of your comparison shopping as long as you set your expectations about what this place is and isn't. My sales consultant was fairly helpful, but a couple things conspired to make me dock them a few stars...
1) I arrived for my appointment on time and had to wait around nearly 20 minutes for someone to help me. Things just seemed very disorganized, and I could only spend so long checking out their selection of crystal jewelry and personalized ring pillows and knickknacks in the front...
2) I felt like I was being given the hard sell. I started by trying on a dress I had tried on elsewhere and liked, one that was well within my budget. I thought that setting that precedent would signal enough about where my budget was, so we didn't say anything about price range until the fourth or fifth dress. By the time I decided it was high time that I explicitly announce my (very reasonable) budget, before things got too carried away, I was met with an "OH! Well that changes EVERYTHING!" The next dress I tried on looked like a sack of potatoes and had this horrible petri dish lace pattern on it, even though one of the very first things I said was that I didn't want lace. I'm no expert on gowns but I also wasn't born yesterday, and I didn't appreciate being treated like a total sucker.

I had an extremely positive experience with Trudy's Bridal. I had never been wedding dress shopping before (not just for my own wedding, but for anyone's---I was the first of my friends to get married), but I had heard of nightmare hour-long experiences. I went with a vague idea of what I wanted, explained that to my gal (Sheryl, who was AWESOME!) and she brought me three dresses. I tried them on and liked two of them. Then I said, can I try one more on, that has beading (since originally I said "no beading"). She brought me one more, and it turned out to be THE DRESS! So, in total, I tried on four dresses and liked three of the four suggestions. Customer service was great and Sheryl even sent me a handwritten thank you note following my purchase. It was such a nice touch!

I looked so many places for my wedding dress and Trudy's was the most attentive and most personal bridal shop I visited. They have a huge selection of dresses in every price range. Some how right when I walked into the store, the employer knew which dress designer would fit my body perfectly! It was so relieving to finally find a dress! The shoe selection was not the best, but the dresses were an A+.
GUEST

I'm going to start by saying...the person who fitted me (Cheryl) had the upmost patience, and even missed her lunch break for me. I had 15 women with me and they accomodated us without a grumble. They have the best selection of gowns; they have the reputation of being expensive, but as long as you tell them your budget they will work within it. The Trudy of Trudy's Brides is always there on the weekends, supervising and making sure you are taken care of. She's a little nutty, but very nice. I loved trying on gowns here...and I am not fond of trying things on. I got my gown, tiara, and veil AND my bridesmaids gowns here, and if I had it to do all over again would do the same.

I had a terrible experience at a major chain bridal store, and decided to try Trudy's. The sales woman Heather was just perfect. She listened to what I was looking for and in only 4 dresses I had found the one. They have dresses in every size, so you actually get to try something on, which I didn't get at the other store. My dress was absolutely perfect in every way. Heather was able to match a veil that looked like it had been MADE for my dress. It was such a pleasant experience, and I felt special the entire time. I also got my bridesmaids dresses here. They had a great selection, and Heather helped us pick out a dress that flattered all my maids who ranged from size 0 - 20.
GUEST

I love Trudy's!!! They really take care of you and help you find the perfect dress. I went to a different place and the person we worked with was kind of mean and nasty and didn't really appreciate me. At Trudy's, they make you feel like the star. I worked with Sheila, and she was fantastic. Love her. Highly, HIGHLY recommended. Don't be scared either, they do have something in your price range if you're on a budget. My dress was $795, then $100 for the veil.
GUEST

I found my dress in a bridal magazine, and Trudy's was the only place anywhere near me that carried it. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. A really classy place. Trudy, the owner, was even walking around the day I was there and she too was very nice. I didn't look at many dresses because I knew what I wanted but they seemed to have a pretty good selection.
GUEST

I was very satisfied with the main girl that took care of us from the start. At my last fitting when I came to pick up the dress some other girl took care of us and she was not very acceptable, she tried to upsell everything and was not very knowledgeable of the designer or the dress. I was somewhat dissapointed because of that last meeting but other than that everything was wonderful and my dress came out gorgeous!
GUEST

Lauren Wakefield was an absolute darling and helped turn a nervous experience into a lot of fun. I didn't know just how long it took to have a dress ordered; I went in with less than 5 months to go and found out it was a 6 month process! Not only did Trudy's get me a rush order on the dress but they pulled some strings with their contacts with Pronovias in Barcelona and got it custom made for me! All I had to do when it came in was get it bustled. It fit wonderfully. I'm taking my little sister there when it's her turn to walk down the aisle.
GUEST

I bought my veil at Trudy's because they offered the most selection at various prices. I was able to find several styles to ensure I had options that were within my budget. The staff was very friendly and I was able to find what I needed quickly.
GUEST

I bought my wedding gown and my bridesmaids' all ordered their dresses from Trudy's. The wedding dress consultant I worked with was fabulous. Marika was very good at determining my body type and what would look good on me. I found my dress at the end of my second appointment, but still came back for a third time just to make sure. I never felt any pressure to decide too soon and I'm very grateful for that. I also had my alterations done through Trudy's. The dress fit wonderfully. Finally, my experience with the bridemaid's dresses was wonderful as well. All but one of the dresses was delivered on time. The one dress that wasn't delivered on time was a maternity dress and it was NOT Trudy's fault it was late. The vendor was delayed and Trudy's went above and beyond to make sure the dress arrived in plenty of time. Trudy's was a wonderful vendor to work with.

I went to Trudy's this past weekend. I was very packed with people in the front of the store. Karen was the sales associate that helped me. She was good and attentive. The backroom she gave me to try on gown was very personal. I felt very important.
This bridal store has a wide range of wedding gowns from high-end to low end.

Trudy's does have great selection when it comes to wedding dress. But their service is horrible. They don't want you to choose dresses you want. They want you to listen to the dress coordinator. Trudy, the owner, is very snoody and when I changed my mind about my dress in less than half day after I put in deposit, they gave me such a hard time for changing order even though it was from the same manufacture. I tried another time to get my mother's dress and I experienced really bad service as well.

Trudy's was wonderful! Specifically, I worked with Jessica who helped to pick out my perfect wedding dress! She carefully listened to what I wanted in my wedding dress and then picked out the perfect dress! They were very nice and professional to work with. They have a huge selection of designer wedding dresses. However, if you don't have too much in your wedding budget for your dress, I wouldn't suggest going into the store -- you'll want to spend more than you have, because their dresses are so amazing!

I loved the dress and got great service when I was choosing it. However, when I went to pick it up, it turns out I didn't have a corset string. I went back to get one and was given the wrong color. When I took that back, it took forever to get the right one. So bad that I was worried I wouldn't have the right color in time for my wedding.

Great service & a huge selection of dresses. I found mine on my first trip!

I came to Trudy's because they are the only store in the South bay that carries Jim Hjelm. I worked with Mariko who was really nice and very helpful in helping me in and out of the dresses. I ended up loving one of the Pronovias dresses here.
The dress is very private and only books two brides at a time, so you feel like you have the entire place to yourself. There is also a bridesmaids store and a tux store nearby, which is very convenient for brides in the South Bay.

I LOVED my experience at Trudy's. However, I should point out that I only went on weekday evenings, NOT on weekends. My consultant, Sheryl, was awesome! We talked for a bit about the kind of wedding I envisioned, themes, etc. Then she told me the vibe she perceived from me and the type of dresses she thought I'd be going for. She hit the nail on the head! Every single dress she bought out for me trumped all other dresses I tried on at other shops. Not because the dresses themselves were that much "better" per say, just that they screamed "me" more. She worked with my budget and only brought out dresses that were well within budget. None of this trying to get me to spend more business. She never pushed me to buy right away, and even let me have some time alone with my "posse" to talk things over. I ended up staying there for about 1hour and 45min even though many brides have said they've been kicked out after an hour. All-in-all, I loved my experience there, and I would definitely recommend this place to other brides with the disclaimer that they should request Sheryl (or I heard Marika is good, too) and only go on a weekday. Apparently, weekends are a madhouse.

Trudy's was ok, my dress was PERFECT however they do not do any alterations or steaming so i had to pay $1700 for my dress and then additional to have the dress steamed and alterd. Michelle helped me and she was very nice and helpful.

I loved my wedding gown, accessories, and veil, but Trudy's is way overpriced. The ladies at the bridal section are very helpful, but we went to get my mom's dress from the non-bridal section and they were not helpful at all. The lady who did my alterations was perfect, but again, alterations for the bustling alone cost over $200. My bridesmaids got their dresses somewhere else and their alterations were free. If I had to do it all over again, I would track down my dream dress and get it from a more affordable vendor.

This place is seriously jam packed with dresses, accessories, and brides waiting for their appointments. There are multiple changing areas and multiple posing podiums with mirrors for the peanut galleries to ooh and aah over your dress.
I was pretty happy with Cheryl and Karen who helped me on different trips with dresses. Cheryl found a fab light gold colored Maggie Sottero which I would never have picked by seeing on the rack, but really helped me on the right track. Trudy herself pressured my mom a little too much to buy her Mother of the Bride dress there in several months, which was pretty ridiculous since my mom told her she lives 600 miles away.
Their shoes are overpriced like everywhere else (their dresses are, too, compared to stores with the same dresses), and they include some variations on the wedding show like ugly white satin sneakers and white fuzzy slippers, but if that's the way you want to go by all means...

Trudy's was the 3rd place I visited. The other two bridal dress stores didn't have the selection that Trudy's had.
Having visited Trudy's (while I was a bridesmaid) and remembering how busy they get during the weekends, I visited on a weeknight - to bide some time waiting for my dinner buddy and just to see what was out there. Since it was slow, I was able to book an appointment with Sheryl.
After filling out a questionnaire, Sheryl and I talked about my budget, what type of dress I envisioned and where the wedding was. Although the venue wasn't set, we did discuss the other two along with potential venue spots. Sheryl came back with 5 dresses and I ended up ordering the 4th dress, a dress made by Pronovias. Sheryl nailed my style within those 5 dresses and saved me hours of shopping. :)
Originally my fiance and I planned to marry in late 2008 but we ended up setting an August 2007 wedding. Sheryl and Trudy's staff made sure I had my dress in time for alterations.
Great service and knowledgeable staff.

This was the easiest part of planning our wedding! I found my dress on the first try! Thanks-

We used Trudy's for my gown, my bridesmaids' dresses, my mother's dress, my jewelry, my headpieces, and a few accessories. The gown and dresses were gorgeous, and Trudy's was a true "one stop shop" for so many necessities, although we did tend to find the accessories in other stores for much lower prices. Our appointment for my gown was around an hour and a half, and my mother ended up trudging through their forest of wedding gowns because the attendant did not seem to be listening to what we wanted, although she was full of advice regarding things we might not have thought of. However, I think with a better listening attendant, we might have had an even better gown. The staff on the other side of the store (special events section where we purchased the bridesmaids gowns and the mother of the bride gown) were far more flexible, attentive, and better service people all around. My girls were able to get their dresses with relative ease from the special events section, and they had a huge selection.

Trudy's Brides was exceptional. Their gown selection as well as accessory selection was great. One thing that was missing though, was an on-site seamstress. I needed to get my dress altered, and that was a disgruntling experience. Overall though, it was a great experience and I was very happy with my purchase.

I shopped wedding dresses here which was ok but the dress I bought (elsewhere) was EXACTLY what I kept describing and the clerk at trudy's didn't show it to me.
I shopped with my 2 local BM's here for their dresses because they have such a good selection and the service was really good. I had to go back 2-3 times to coordinate color because I had 4 different girls in 4 different designers and then I tried to coordinate the colors and they were very helpful with the process. The 2 dresses ordered from here arrived as expected.

i went to trudy's a few weeks ago and it was PACKED! not enough sales associates to help me & it really got overwhelming.
overall, the do have a very nice selection.. just be prepared to go here *whew*

I had a really good experience with my mom buying her dress from Trudys. The salesperson was really helpful, nice and professional. However my experience trying to get bridesmaid dresses there was HORRIBLE. The staff was rude, unhelpful and pretty useless.

Ordered From Trudy's Brides August 10, 2004) It's a Maggie Sottero!! I loved my dress and I got great service from Marika at Trudy's Brides!!

I have heard many mixed reviews about Trudy's. It's a very hit or miss place.
I personally had a wonderful experience with them and a lot had to do with my sales consultant Lauren Beth. From the beginning she was super nice and attentive and not once tried to rush me into buying anything. She sat down with me and listened to what I wanted, then brought out some dresses and was just as happy as I was when I finally found the right one. I scheduled my appt. on a Saturday morning and there were not many people.

I called almost a month before and scheduled an appointment. When we arrived on a very busy Sunday, they didn't have my appointment in the book, but immediately said, "Don't worry, we'll get you in, no problem." I think they saw the look of horror on my face. ;) They paired me up with Kathy and immediately got me into a fitting room.
Kathy was wonderful, she nailed down my style in 5 dresses. We bought the 4th dress I tried on. Bought the matching veil that Kathy suggested. I hadn't planned on buying a veil. As a bargain bride, I was going to order online, but it matched the dress perfectly, and mom fell in love with it.
We also bought dyeable satin sandals there. I love sandals, wear them all the time. But a couple weeks later had sandal regret. When they arrived I tried to return them, but I was told I'd have to pay a restocking fee and buy another pair there for the same or higher price. I passed.
We also ordered the bridesmaid dresses on the same day. Heather was our helper in that department, she was awesome! Very attentive, and helped confirm orders a couple weeks later when I was making sure a BM had placed her order. Those dresses arrived very quickly too.
I highly recommend Trudy's because they were very friendly and took care of me right away, even after they couldn't find the appointment, and everything arrived early. The restocking/exchange scenario is a rip-off, although not uncommon at bridal shops.

Trudy's Brides is a cute, clean store. A dress consultant first discussed what styles I envisioned for my wedding dress. Then she picked out dresses for me. The woman I worked with was very nice and receptive to hearing what I liked and disliked about each dress. She did not pressure me to buy and seemed very knowledgeable. I would recommend visiting this store for a pleasant wedding dress shopping experience.

*VERY* busy on the weekends and on weeknights! The dressing room is basically a tiny box with a curtain. They carry pretty expensive dresses here, and schedule everyone back to back and kick you out right when the next girl gets there.

Trudy's dress consultants are very helpful and professional. I was able to find my wedding dress very quickly, and my consultant was very happy to help me find something that would compliment my body type. I would highly recommend the show, BUT I would warn anyone from getting their alterations done there. My alterations were done so poorly that all throughout my ceremony and reception I was messing with my dress. I had to pull up my dress (strapless) every few minutes because my bodice was showing. I had also asked for an "Extra strength" bustle- which broke within 5 minutes. Mostly I was disappointed that I didn't look my best, and I knew it was because the alterations had been done poorly, and I had spent $800 to have them done. Brides beware!

Trudy's had a great selection of dresses. At first, I found the attitude of some of the employees, and even the owner, a bit off-putting. They were not very helpful when I dropped in to look at dresses. But they had the dress I wanted to try on, so I made an appointment. My bridal consultant, Marika, was wonderfully helpful then, and very kind. I really enjoyed working with her; she had good insight on my dress selection (what shades worked best for me, what type of veil would work well with the dress, etc.) There was some pressure to buy accessories there, but when I was firm about not buying them then, they were respectful. They have a good range of dresses, but not too many on the lower end for cost. However, my dress was a great buy in my mind, less expensive than many similar I had tried on.

Even though I’m sure this won’t help out with the San Diego reviews, Trudy’s Brides in San Jose, CA was amazingly helpful in assisting me to find my perfect dress. I walked in thinking I knew what I did NOT want and walked out with the PERFECT dress – that fell almost into those “I DO NOT WANT THIS” standards. They just knew what would fit my body and my simple, yet classic, taste.

All of the staff was extremely helpful and their prices were resonable.

This place was wonderful! While I did not get my dress from here, they did allow me to bring in my dress to find the perfect vail for it. The rep was very professional and helpful. We also got the guest book & accessories from here.

I, too, have mixed reviews about Trudy's Brides. Before I went there, I had heard great reviews about them. I didn't have a good experience in the brides section. It was very crowded and even with my appt, I still had to wait. I did have a private area in the back, whereas some other brides were in front of everyone, so that was nice. I don't think I was able to choose what dresses I wanted. I had to tell the salesperson what styles I liked and what my budget was and she went and picked dresses for me. Eventually, it seemed as though she wasn't able to find me anything I liked so my bridesmaids and I left disappointed.
We went to their Special Occasions shop next door and had a great experience there. My BMs and I were able to look at many styles, try them on and pick out color swatches with the assistance of Jessica. I made sure I saw her every time we went back for the bridesmaids. She helped me order color swatches so I would have something to show my florist. She also sent me a thank you card.

I went on a weekday, and the consultant really had a lot of time to give to me and was very gracious. They had an amazing selection and I tried on many beautiful dresses, but I needed time to think things over. The consultant did not seem happy that I wasn't going to make an immediate purchase. I finally decided to go back to buy the veil, so I stopped in on a weekend and brought my mom and sister--AWFUL, AWFUL! I was just there to make my purchase, but no one wanted to help me, neither was anyone friendly or helpful. I actually felt like I was a bother and unwanted, so because of the poor service, I left without buying the veil. I went to David's Bridal instead.

Ok- so to be honest, I found my dress and my flower girls dress at Trudy's but ended up ordering from Maine. My dress was literally 700 dollars less and their is no sales tax their and several other states. Look into it.

Trudy's did a great job and they had all range of prices

I received great customer service from Trudy's. My only complaint is when I called after choosing my dress and asked to order a size smaller- they were very hesitant to do so. I ended up with a dress way too big that needed lots of alterations. However, during the dress choosing process, they were very patient and helpful.
GUEST

Oh, it was just so easy to find my dress here! The experience was just like I had hoped for in my dreams, and everything went smoothly. The dress itself was just a work of art-beaded and the whole lot!

I found my wedding dress here. Trudy's offers by far the best service I've received in the Bay Area, but I ended up finding my dress cheaper somewhere else and I guiltily admit I bought it from a different vendor. However, I have returned time and time again to Trudy's with my friends because I know that the staff at Trudy's know what they're doing and have an excellent selection of dresses. I also purchased my bridesmaids dress here.

Really un-organized show room.. too much clutter, it is nicer when you don't have to crowd through the dresses(too cramped) The ladies were nice but I have had more experienced sales people help.
GUEST

Beautiful selections, great service, can be a bit pricey...but they do have cheaper options

The most I like about Trudy's is they provide a stage and spot light where you can see yourself at the mirror.
